This place isn't bad, but it isn't the greatest? I've had this place a couple of times and for me the seasoning level always seems to be off. today I got the bowl with mashed potatoes, cheese, broccoli and chicken. The mashed potatoes were okay, everything was a little dry - like it needed a sauce to go with it. Broccoli wasn't seasoned at all and the chicken was way way way over seasoned. My boyfriend got the paleo bowel and said it needed salt. We ended up putting hot sauce on both our bowls. read more

I can't believe I'm just yelping the Laughing Planet now. It was the very first eatery I tried after moving here in 2004, back when they were brand-spanking new. Being just a few blocks from my house, the LP has served me well over the years. Food is tasty, healthy, fresh, affordable, and can meet any number of dietary restrictions (paleo, vegan, gluten-free, to name a few). It's the kind of food I'd make at home if I were a more ambitious cook, and always hits the spot when I'm looking for a quick, hot meal. There's local beer, wine and kombucha on tap along with made-to-order fruit juices and smoothies. Their vegan cookies are hands-down the best in town, even the gluten-free ones. (I'm a cookie connoisseur, so I say this with some confidence. If you think there's a better cookie, vegan or otherwise, somewhere else, message me 'k?) Service is always friendly and fairly speedy, except when they're slammed, which does happen. (By definition, true of any popular spot.) As with any restaurant, there's the occasional miss (an under-spinached quesadilla or onion-scented cookie), but they're always quick to right any wrongs. Atmosphere is clean, bright and cheerful, with enough dinosaurs to go around unless some five-year-old has hoarded them all. (You know who you are, kid!) If you don't live as ridiculously close as I do, order delivery and some strapping young person will bring your order to you on a bike. All things told, I would go the way of the dinosaurs myself without the Laughing Planet. If you end up here as often as I do, grab a punch card and before you know it, you'll get a free meal. Great quick-bite vegan food with plenty of gluten-free options, too. I had the Thai bowl, and my husband had the Cuban burrito. Both were tasty. I absolutely despise lemongrass, but I was pleased to find that the lemongrass peanut butter sauce on the Thai Bowl was actually quite delicious. The Cuban spices in the burrito really worked with the plantains and sweet potatoes. We also tried the chili, which was packed full of veggies! A great tomato-based chili flavor that could have been a little bit more powerful, but was good enough to devour quickly. This is not an upscale vegan restaurant, but these folks are making good food. I'm sure I'll end up here again next time I'm in Eugene. read more

I also loved that even the "unhealthy" options had a healthy twist incorporated into it, making everything we tried "clean" I was a huge fan of the juice bar, which offered wellness shots to green juice. I heard good things about this place, had a coupon for one free meal when ordering two and went with my husband today (Sunday.) The place was practically empty. Twice, someone dropped in and took food to go. While we waited, the two female employees were on their phones and the male cook was either looking around, at his phone, cooking or chatting with the two women. My husband and I couldn't understand what was taking so long. Finally I got up from our table and asked when our food would be ready. We were told that ours was next. It was served without pleasantries and the food was satisfactory and filling, though not really tasty. We were ignored for the duration of our meal and were not acknowledged when we left. I'm glad that we were able to use the coupon because it was not worth the amount for the full price of two meals. We will not be back. read more

There's no easy way to describe Laughing Planet, other than to say that it's arguably one of the most unique quick-bite restaurants around. Designed to be goofy, fun, and laid back - the LP serves nutritious meals with fresh vegetables and pasture raised meats. It caters to vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. It's about as farm-fresh as you're going to get for "fast food." Even the beans are Food Alliance Certificated Smart™ (something that they're very proud of apparently). Actually, most of the ingredients are sourced from the PNW, which is super cool. The dish selection is almost ...otherworldly. Ever want an entire pot roast dinner slammed into a burrito? There's a dish for that. How about having a thanksgiving dinner also stuffed into a burrito? Well, you guessed it! Some of the combinations are quite ingenious (seasonal terms & conditions apply!). I'd describe the menu as landing somewhere between comfort food, Mexican food, and health food. Served as a bowl or in wrap format. It's a great place for people of all ages, especially if you've got some kids in tow. Plastic dinosaurs populate the various tables and the decor is bright with lots of color pop. Wooden tables are plenty. I found the staff to be very vocal and authentic. Prices are moderate, but considering the clean and high quality ingredients found in the food, I feel that you definitely get your money's worth. This place is great! I went with four friends. We have a diverse group in terms of dietary needs, and Laughing Planet fulfilled all of them! They offer vegan, vegetarian, meat options, and gluten free. They even offered paleo as well! It's a really chill place, where you order at the counter and get your food brought out to you. They offer a variety of drinks for lunch including local beer, kombucha, and some yummy sounding iced teas. I ordered the veggie bowl (vegan and oil free!) with the addition of tofu, plus a peach kombucha. My total was about $12. It was a filling lunch and the bowl with the dressing was sooooo amazing. I love that they also offer an outside patio. The food is insta worthy, affordable, and the cafe is chill and relaxed. Totally recommend for a weekday or weekend lunch! read more

All their things on the menu looked appealing and super yummy. I got the Thai bowl with the brown rice. It was so delicious. I was just disappointed that it costed a lot for ingredients that I myself could've made on my own. But everything was really good. Why I knocked down two stars: the sizing and the fact that it wasn't as unique as I had expected that hoped it to be. The service is great and the food is honestly pretty good. Speaking as a delivery driver who has to deal with many restaurants every single day, I can say that without a doubt this has been one of the worst. The girl that I had to deal with was rude and arrogant, and yelled at me because my mask had slipped an inch below my nose and I didn't immediately pull it up. Had she just mentioned it politely, I immediately would've apologized and fixed my mask. I've also gotten food from this establishment several times, And without fail every single time they've either forgotten something that I've asked for, or the food is subpar. Funnily enough, there are actually other locations around town, that do provide good service, and do provide well cooked and well-made food. I don't recommend going here if you're hoping for a good bite to eat, and especially not if you're hoping for good service. If i could give negative stars I would. read more

Laughing Planet's special burrito always features creative, quality ingredients that deliver overwhelming mouth orgasms for a reasonable price. My favorite is probably the Maui Wowie, which has "grilled pineapple, organic brown rice, Smart™ Black Beans and an Asian-inspired veggie mix with snow peas, broccoli, carrots, bok choy, napa cabbage, celery, green onion and bamboo shoots....dressed with a house made teriyaki sauce and pico de gallo and served with a ginger-coconut tomatillo salsa on the side." I get excited just reading about it. I always add tempeh, but there's also tofu, and a chicken option for the carnies. Service is sometimes a little slow because they're usually busy, but I don't mind because the food is worth it. Plus there's copies of The Eugene Weekly for reading material, and cool dinosaur figures to admire. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor and go order the special burrito of the week (with tempeh! tryyy it). I'm done with this place...I wrote a favorable review in 2019 but things have changed after Covid...I don't know who owns this location, but I would pay heed to the growing number of negative reviews...It's an indication of a Business that is alienating Customers...The people posting these reviews can't all be wrong and will most likely never return...In my opinion, the biggest change is the amount of door dash/takeout orders...This has increased exponentially since Covid...What that means is that only one person is available to package the to go orders and if you are eating in house you are simply not a priority...Frequently, I have been the only person at the counter without acknowledgement until the person preparing delivery orders has time to actually take my order...This can take 2 minutes...I'm fine with that...We should all have a bit of patience given covid/staffing issues etc...The food is pretty much the same as it was years ago....The difference is that your order will sit on the counter for up to 15 minutes because no one has the time to walk 15 steps to place it on your table...Food arrives cold and that happens frequently...Try going to Cafe Yumm for the exact opposite experience... read more

Laughing Planet is quite alright! One of my favorite things about this place is that the food is fairly fast and healthy. People watching can be great. The decor is a lot of fun with dinosaurs on the tables. I love the Frank Zappa posters and lots of R. Crumb's work including Mr. Natural. Have you seen the documentary film Crumb (1994)? If you haven't you should as it is a great film, but I'm not going to review the film I'm reviewing Laughing Planet on Blair in Eugene. Healthy options and plenty of vegan options. It seems some of the places I frequent most always have nutritional yeast and a variety of house sauces including Sriracha. They have them here of course it is almost required like Kombucha on tap at the Eugene NFS. Laughing Planet is a good place for a vegan or vegetarian to bring their vegan or vegetarian date or friend or omnivore gluten-free paleo date, friend, or relative. Went there this past Friday and was quite busy with plastic dinosaur toys on the table. The first table we sat at had a T. Rex on it and water from a spider planet above us was dropping on us and our table. My friend from out of town knew that the NW was famous for rain, but not indoors at a funky artsy hip healthy restaurant. So we switched tables to sitting underneath a Critical Mass poster with a Triceratops on it. Much better! I had the Grains and Greens Salad: Mixed lettuces, kale, sprouted lentils, quinoa, cherry tomatoes, radishes, dried cranberries, and grilled broccoli in a basil-garlic vinaigrette. Topped with toasted sunflower seeds. I had a side of guacamole and vegan sour cream w/ it. When it arrived it looked like real sour cream, so checked with the server. He said they use toffuti sour cream. I'm familiar with the brand and used it years ago, but would be a nice touch if they made in house vegan sour cream. My friend had the Soylent Green Bowl which is: Sautéed kale and steamed broccoli on a bed of quinoa topped with house-marinated tempeh and your choice of chimichurri or garlic tahini sauce. She took half home, but enjoyed it very much. We split a Hempseed Hazelnut cookie for desert that was great as well. I'll be back and my friend has a fond memory of Eugene! read more

I couldn't believe what I saw yesterday the owner or manager of the establishment on Blair actually yelling at a disabled lady who was working for grub hub of some sort and he did not believe her as she was disabled and yelled at her and in realize he made a mistake and try to back track , he made the lady cry, what a jerk I will never eat there if this is how he treats disabled people the guy is a total d******** and will never get my business ever, take this in mind there was nobody in the establishment so obviously he was having a badd day but why take it out on a disabled person who is just picking up food for people during this crisis of a pandemic just because nobody was eating in his store problem because he is a jerk like I said I will never eat at this establishment ever and you should not either.. read more

I have been trying LP out intermittently over the last few years and am finally getting around to a review. I can't recall exactly what my first few dishes here were... but I know I've enjoyed every item I've had. Most recently however I can say I've been eating the heck out of the paleo bowl and the Bollywood bowl--both are very good (I'm partial to the paleo bowl). I can't say I enjoy the dining area her a great deal... it's not exactly what I'd call a comfy place. But I also don't dislike it. I'm indifferent to it I suppose. It's by no means fancy, but generally kept clean. The service is fantastic and the prices are very fair for what I think of as pretty high quality and delicious meals. read more
