Parking is $2 with their validation. When you get to their suite, ring the doorbell and you'll be greeted by the friendly workers and asked to switch into their slippers. The ambiance is so cozy and such a bright and welcoming space. I've only been there in the morning so the view is great up on the 25th floor. I've booked the 90 min couple massage and we were led to the massage room to change and fill out their massage information sheet (type of massage, pressure, focus/avoid areas). I enjoyed my experience at Lava Massage. Located on the 25th floor of the Century Towers in Waikiki, the view was stunning. As my friend and I walked in they asked us to remove our shoes and replace them with slides they provided. We confirmed our names and appointment times and then were swiftly escorted to our respective treatment rooms. I had chosen the Lava Massage Signature package which included a full body massage, facial and foot scrub. They leave a clipboard for you to review so they understand your preferences for the visit - massage pressure, areas to focus on, areas to avoid, allergies, any additional services you may want to add, etc. I prefer a deep tissue massage, and my therapist did an excellent job giving me a full body massage, while also giving special attention to the areas I requested. Afterward, the massage was followed by a facial. I'm used to having a steamer going while the treatment is happening, but none was used during the facial. The facial included a face massage, exfoliant, toner, mask, and moisturizing. Lastly, was the foot scrub, the shortest of the treatments. For 10-15 minutes the therapist massages and exfoliates your soles, upper foot, and ankles. Overall, a great experience. I felt refreshed and renewed. After I got dressed and left the treatment room, I was greeted with a cold glass of ice water and a scoop of refreshing vanilla ice cream. I sat at the bar and relaxed while waiting for my friend. We chatted with the staff and when we were ready to depart, received warm farewells. As a bonus, they had a reserved parking space for us in the building that was validated for a flat fee of $2 as opposed to the $6/hr fee. After coming here a couple of years ago and having such a great experience, I was excited to go back to get another couples massage with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. We got there right on time and was greeted immediately. We were taken back to our room and saw they put a nicely written sign for our anniversary. I appreciated that. Like the last time, I chose to get a Swedish massage with medium pressure since I enjoyed it so much. My boyfriend got his same combination of Swedish and Thai massage with medium pressure. The massage started off well, but my masseuse started using her elbows and forearms which I don't really remember them using the last time. I had a lot of knots so she spent majority of the time trying to work out those. It was sore, but I endured it because whenever my mom tries to massage out my knots, it's pretty sore as well. She also did a lot of slapping on my body which I didn't hear my boyfriend really getting and also don't remember getting slapped the last time. That was pretty uncomfortable and unexpected for me. After the massage, my traps were pretty sore. My boyfriend assured me it would probably go away the next day, but it didn't. I also woke up to a decent-sized bruise on my lower back. Definitely did not have any bruising the last time I went. Comparing my first experience vs. my most recent experience is like day and night. Part of baby shower I planned for my sister. Had her, the hubs, our brother, cousin, and my hubs. After a long and stressful work week, my husband and I booked a couples massage for 8 pm. By 7:30, I had yet to receive parking instructions. We arrived in the garage at 7:45, called to see where we should park, and was given a stall number. The stall was taken. I called again, and was told the previous couple just finished their appointment and they should be down shortly. 7:55 rolls around and I call to ask if there is another stall we could park in since no one has come out. Person on the phone says that all other stalls were taken but the other couple would be down shortly and that he would send a group chat to let them know someone was waiting for the stall. He assured me that our tardiness would not be held against us. We finally parked at 8:01 and made our way upstairs. We were undressed and on the tables by 8:09. I prefer a heavy handed, firm massage but what I received last night was borderline abuse. Maybe Vivi was annoyed that we were late (totally out of our control), maybe she didn't like having an evening appointment, I don't know but her energy from the get-go was negative and just wrong for a place of business in the healing arts. She started by climbing on my back and then commented on how tight my shoulders were. Um yah, hence why I was there and why I marked that area for special attention on the questionnaire. Anyways, she began using all her weight to dig her knees into my back which was fine, as typically, it takes a few forceful strokes before the tension is released and my muscles begin to relax. However, when she began the oiled portion it just got worse from there. She used copious amounts of oil before starting to work on me with her hands, forearms, and elbows. Her strokes were clumsy, spiteful, and not relaxing. I then requested that she switch to medium pressure since she was oblivious to the physical cues of my wincing and clenched fists. I began to cry because it was just so disappointing. She gave me tissues after I asked for some and continued working on me but now with very little pressure. I essentially just got an oil rub for the remainder of our time, which ended at 9:05. My husband paid and when we ran into her in the lobby, she laughed at me. Appalling and unprofessional behavior.
