I had bookmarked this spot for the longest time and after constantly seeing it on Instagram through foodie influencers around the area, I decided to finally give it a try. I arrived around 12:45pm on a Tuesday so I had quite high expectations since Tuesday is the first day it's opened for business and during the lunch hour so I would expect their quality control to be top notch. However, I was quite disappointed that the 1/2 beef brisket was super dry and tough; the leg quarter is for those who preferred smoked chicken to the point where the bones could be eaten + meat dried up; pulled pork was juicy and the ribs were probably the most decent meats from the 4 I tried. The Mac & cheese with voodoo crumble is great; I enjoyed the different type of potato salad (deviled eggs); pickled onions were all good. The pickles were not sour and the bread was dry. Overall, I feel horrible that I didn't have the great experience like others because I think majority of people order sandwiches...I'm greedy and like to try a little bit of everything to get a better "full experience." For $50 I would've expected better quality and possibility a more "cheerful" cashier. We were extremely polite and patient so I would've hope for the same energy in return. I love the concept of the whole "boxyard," but would suggest for the menu to be placed maybe on a monitor where you're not trying to read between people's legs standing at the counter. read more

The food at this place is on point. I had the smoked turkey with collards & potato salad. It was all scrumptious. My daughter had the smoked Buffalo Garlic Cojita wings & these also were fantastic. All the sauces they have were delicious. The fries were also outstanding. Our food came out in about 10 minutes or so, not long at all. I have been a fan of Lawrence Barbecue for years. I started going to there Box yard location in RTP. Then we went to the new location in Cary. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. The ambiance is very retro, with vintage toys, beer steins, and old school record player, that they actually use. Ok hot honey chicken sandwich I was expecting a good sandwich, but I got a GREAT one. I don't even think I have words to describe how good this was. It was perfectly crispy, juicy and full of ALL the flavors. I didn't include a photo of the fries lol but they were good too! Very well seasoned, and there were a ton of them. The service was great! We ended up waiting a little longer because I think our order got skipped over somehow, but when I went up to ask about 15min after we out in the order, a girl said that it was coming right up and that she was so sorry for the mix up and gave me a banana pudding for free because we waited. She deff did not have to do that, but I so appreciated it. (I LOVE banana pudding) The vibe of the area is cool because there is so many good places and places to sit up or downstairs. The night we went there was live music which was cool too! The only thing I would advise is that you go here with multiple people and get different items so that you can have a tasting of more goodness! I should have done that, but I don't regret anything about the sandwich, so I can't complain! This was a cool place to hang out for a quick lunch. I'm sure it is even more exciting after hours. My barbecue sandwich was the thickest stacked pulled pork I had ever had and that is saying a lot. This has quickly become one of our favorite spots. Parking until the deck opens sucks but the food and service are fabulous. It's a bummer when they run out of items but that's our only single complaint. Lawrence Bbq is the place you need to go ASAP if you enjoy pulled pork! Im not even the biggest pork guy, but I would eat Lawrence's in a heartbeat. We got the 3 meat sampler and a few sides for just under 35 dollars. The brisket and wings were kinda salty and the sides were ok. But that pork, it sits in a category by itself. It didn't even need bbq sauce. For the pork alone, this place is on another level! Next time around, I ll skip everything else and order a sandwich. read more

I went yesterday for take out. The restaurant was very clean. As it was my first visit I order three of their meats and three sides. The pulled pork BBQ, Burnt Ends, and Brisket, for the meats, each was excellent with maybe a little heat in each. Had the tangy red slaw, BBQ beans and fry's both slaw and beans stood out with a little heat again. The fry's were fry's. I really like the slaw and the beans. We visited Lawrence BBQ today and it was great. My husband's brisket was fork-tender and the brisket queso and banana pudding were delicious. Our waitress was fast, courteous, and provided great suggestions. The only downside for us was that we thought it the chicharrones and fries were over seasoned. Juicy, warm & simply delicious. Tried their sauces, Cheerywine bbq was our favorite. Would like a few more selections of hot sauce. Wine/ beer list has little selection. This place is incredible! So stoked they got a new upgraded location- building is super open and spacious with tons of natural night and places to sit. This has to be one of my favorite bbq joints in the Raleigh area by far. The smash burger was outstanding, but the ribs, brisket and wings are to die for. Also- their Cheerwine bbq sauce is a must try. Service was outstanding, everything came fast and delicious, really couldn't have asked for a better experience. Excellent food. The brisket is quite literally "melt in your mouth" delicious. The pulled pork is perfect, tender and tangy with Carolina sauce. The fries could have been hotter, but they're seasoned well. The beans, delicious, The cilantro on top a really nice touch. The Cole slaw was a vinegar based slaw that is excellent. I wanted the collards, but they were sold out. Everything was flavorful. As someone who loves spicy, the beans were spicier than I expected but still very flavorful and delicious. this was my first time and it did not disappoint! I got the brisket and it was tender and flavorful with a good mix of more "meaty" and "fatty" areas. The only critique I have is by the end it was a bit salty but that didn't come until the last few bites. I loooooved the brussel sprouts. Great little find while we were on a layover in Raleigh. Located in a outdoor food hall made of shipping containers you can't really miss it! Even tho it's winter they have several heaters and the entire area under the stage is headed as well. Lots of other little eateries make up this food hall but Lawrence Barbecue is the standout! My boyfriend is from NC and confirmed the pulled pork sandwich was legit I'd never had New Brunswick stew but he told me that's also an NC thing and it was super tasty! The wings were rubbed not sauced like I'm used to but their smokiness made them a standout. Not pictured were the delicious donut holes we had for dessert with the most amazing caramel dipping sauce. Our drinks were purchased from the bar upstairs and I highly recommend you grab a drink while you wait on your order. Clean bathrooms and plentiful seating. I had high hopes for this place but it was just ok for me. The pork belly was delicious. The sticky ribs were decent. You get three ribs for $16 so that's pretty steep. The brisket was just ok. They were on the salty side and overcooked. There was little fat and it was very crusty. As for the sides, I got the three cheese Mac and it was a big no for me. They put green onion bits on it and I can't figure out why. It was dry and tasteless. The breading on top was mush and tasteless. The collards were ok. A bit sweet, I didn't taste the salty. It was nothing special. The potato salad was so-so. It lacked seasoning and had quite a bit of egg in it. It also had the green onion topping. I give the Mac a 2/5, the collards a 3.5/5 and the potato salad a 2.5/5. The area is an outside spot with communal seating. It's shared space with several other eateries and businesses. Handicapped parking give you a ramp but then you have to go up the stairs so that didn't make sense. Very friendly service. Food came out in about ten minutes. I give the place an overall score of 3.5/5 because of the service and pork belly. I forgot to take photos of the pork belly. They were so good that I scarfed them down before the pictures. read more
