I don't know why she didn't just tell me she didn't want to take my order. From her first response to her last, my gut feeling was right. I never should have spent my time and energy giving her my business. Her communication was poor from the beginning. She did not answer my questions right away, gave short responses, and I often had to ask the same questions more than once before getting an answer. I immediately felt like I was not welcomed as a customer. Even though most of her reviews seemed good, I tried to be patient and continue with the order. Before I could send payment, she said there was a family emergency, that she had to travel, and that she would no longer be able to make the cupcakes. While emergencies certainly happen and it could truly be the case- the timing left me skeptical, especially since the event is still over two weeks away. Before being cancelled on, I was simply asking for written confirmation of the correct order details and pricing (bc in her previous email it was incorrect). I wanted the correct cupcake order and price written down for a paper trail before sending payment. It did not need to be official, but after the incorrect total and poor communication, I felt uneasy. Her explanation for the wrong amount did not make sense compared to her listed prices, which made me feel like she may have been trying to upcharge me. Regardless of the emergency, communication was just poor and that's the main reason for this review. I don't know if my order was too difficult because I requested several different flavors, no designs, except for one cupcake. I'm not sure where things went wrong, but I'm very disappointed because her work looks great. Some of her reviews mentioned good communication, but that was not my experience at all. I hope she does not treat another customer this way, especially because planning a party is already stressful. If she does not answer your questions clearly and promptly, I would consider taking your business elsewhere. I would not recommend.

I was searching for an affordable bakery to cater my grandfather's 100th birthday so finding a bakery was no easy task. I requested for a quote for a two tiered cake as well as sheet cakes that would feed around 150-175 people. They were very responsive and helped me decide on cake flavors with filling combinations that would complement each other well. I was very specific with the style and design of the cake and they offered suggestions that made the cake look like a showstopper on the day of the event. I provided inspiration photos and was in constant communication with them over the course of a week. The cake topper was a custom Rice Krispy Treat that made the cake look as regal as the event was. With all their design suggestions taken into consideration, I trusted their vision completely. I opted to get two of their most popular cakes and fillings for the display cake: chocolate with Oreo cream and carrot with cream cheese. Both were insanely delicious but the chocolate with Oreo cream cheese takes the cake, no pun intended. For the sheet cakes, they allowed me to choose one cake flavor with up to two different fillings. I chose marble (chocolate and vanilla) with mixed berries and marble with bavarian cream. Both were a hit and we ran out of cake very quickly. If you have no experience looking for custom cakes, look no further. I will look into Maggie's again for our next family event!

Petite Paleo Bakery's selection sounded like just the thing. I was immediately sold on the idea of a petite date pudding cake with vanilla cardamom frosting. Unique and just the kind of flavors I love! Texting worked well to order, coordinated payment via Venmo, and picked up from a cooler. The owner was very responsive and followed up with helpful details, and everything went smoothly for an early morning pickup. The cake was excellent! It survived a two-hour drive unharmed and was satisfying for five guests, with enough for leftovers the next day. The frosting was creamy with great cardamom flavor, the date cake was moist, dense, and sweet but not saccharine, and had a lovely spice undercurrent with a perfect touch of salt. An amazing fall birthday treat. (And I felt great *after* eating it too.) Highly recommend! If I lived closer, I'd likely be making up more special occasions to order cake here ;)

I asked Rose what the most popular cakes are, and decided on one of the most popular, the Luscious Lemon. The cakes come in several sizes feeding 2-4, 6-8, etc. I really wanted something for 4-6 people but after speaking with Rose, it seemed the 6-8 person option was what I was looking for. Rose described the cake for 2-4 as being smaller than a Costco muffin and slight larger than a cupcake. Hence why I decided on the 6-8. Pickup was a breeze. I waited in the pickup lot for just a couple minutes before Rose happily delivered my cake. The presentation was nice. I really liked the packaging as it showed all the ingredients for the cake and the frosting. There was even a QR code that would link you to tips on serving/storing the cake. Nice touch. As instructed, I left the cake out of the fridge for about 2 hours and it was time to dig in. The cake reminded us of a very lightly sweetened cornbread. The frosting was "buttery", but in a unique way. As the frosting hit my lips it instantly coated them like butter. The cake smelled "lemony" when cutting into it, however I didn't get that same lemon flavor when eating it. And even though I'm not a fan of super sweet frosting, I desperately wanted more sugar in this frosting. I envisioned a PPB Paleo cake as one made with whole and possibly organic ingredients, having less sugar, or honey, and one that uses almond or coconut flour instead of unbleached white flour. While that may be mostly correct, I think I SEVERELY underestimated the whole "less sugar" part. That was my bad. Here's a rule of thumb that might help. Paleo and organic ingredients are simply more expensive than your typical cake ingredients. Expect your Paleo cake to be several times smaller to reflect that. The cake for 6-8, $50, was smaller than I anticipated. Working with Rose's PPB was super easy and extremely professional. I really loved the packaging and presentation of the cake.

We worked with Aubrey, and she answered all of out questions without issue and made sure we had the flavors and designs that we were happy with.
