Visited on a Sunday where they have Brunch but also allow ordering from main menu (good for us since we aren't much for brunch). We started off with avocado toast (hippy toast as the waiter/bar tender jokingly called it. A very unique variant of it where it had tomato, mozzarella pearls, and a drizzle of balsamic. Entrees were: Macaroni and cheese - a very cheesey layer since this is a baked version. The Shed burger with fries - the pablano is nicely roasted along with a tasty topping of short rib meat. The fries are not standard and definitely recommend getting them. The BAAT burger with Cole slaw - burger was cooked nicely and a good combination of toppings, slaw was good with an unexpected item of dried cranberries but fries where stolen by this person. For dessert we had the strawberry cake which was moist and a lighter dessert to have. Service was good, the waiter was friendly and was attentive until he was handed a party of 8 in addition to the tables that he was handling already. Lazy Dog is a fantastic American Casual Dining Restaurant. Their menu is exquisite, everything on there is made freshly to order. The service is awesome. We've been there twice now and we loved it each time. They have a nice beer selection, as well as wine and cocktail list. We tried their Holy Shishito Peppers, which was unbelievable good. The Lazy Dog Chicken Sandwich was fabulous. We also tried their Brussel Sprouts which was freshly and delicately prepared with Pork Belly. We did the Shed burger, which was amazing. It was done just right. Its easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. We also got the Hipster Toast, which was nice, but not a lot of food for what you pay. The Gatherer Salad with Blackened Chicken was OK. I wouldn't get it again. The challenge with keeping such a large menu is always to keep the standard of food the same, and Lazy Dog excels at it. We went on Super Bowl Sunday for dinner. We got nachos for a starter and they were delicious. For the meal, I got The McKay with Salmon and my husband got The New Yorker. Our server was great and made great suggestions when I struggled to decide. The low review was for dessert. We were a little full so we decided to get our dessert to go and our waitress told us to let her know when we were about ready to go (10or so mins) and she would put in our order and bring our check. We picked the bread pudding. She brought it out and we left. When we opened it up to eat later in the evening, the bread pudding was burnt and black. I thought maybe the black is just the color it turns when it cooks so I heated it back up to try it. It tasted terrible. I honestly can't believe they would package it up being as burnt as it was. On our Sunday visit to see a friend that just moved to Loveland, on her recommendation as a 'dog friendly' place for some good food, we visited Lazy Dog. It was slow, no one outside and it was chilly and windy even under cover with their many heat lamps but our enthusiasm was buoyed greatly by the immediate friendly service and menu. Hard to choose a beer as they had some great choices but when my choice did arrive, the great young guy we had as server also brought me a sample of his current favorite, blood orange IPA from Rails End, and it is delicious; that was my next beer. Food was terrific, it was hard to choose from their very eclectic menu but everyone loved their dishes, I had meatballs with corn bread plus their AMAZING peppers dish, so delicious and perfectly done and a huge serving. The drunken chicked looked amazing and was loved, and the biscuits and gravy - while not to my taste - was enjoyed as well by my companion. Great service, and the young server said he's always there on Sundays so, we'll always visit on Sunday from now on. Staff was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was basic chain-brewery type. The food quality and the taste was underwhelming. I had the blackened chicken breast on a small bag of rice with mango chutney. The portion size was small for dinner, there was not enough mango chutney, and the overall taste was quite bland. My dinner partner had the poutine and only ate about 25%. The quality of the meat was low. There was way too much cheese and the once crispy bed of potatoes became soggy and bland in the watery gravy. We left thankful for the service, but still hungry from the light portions and unsatisfied with the meal. read more

We've tried this place now a few different times and just have never been impressed. We had thought it was the actual lazy dog in Westy, but were sadly mistaken the first time. However we gave it the benefit of the doubt regardless. My husband and I both got plain burgers this last time we went and were sorely disappointed. The flavor was just not there and the buns came out super soggy. The server never came back to refill our water or check on us after serving our food. For the price, it's just not worth it. So the Ahi Tuna Salad was my favorite here BUT after ordering it today I cannot believe what I received! I ordered it on DoorDash. The salad is suppose to come with avocado, sesame seeds & dressing (you'd think the dressing would be a given right??) I received a bed of lettuce, tomato, onion & a MOLDY OLIVE! The Ahi Tuna doesn't even look edible, It smelled weird. What kind of chef prepares food this way? Or even thinks it's okay to give this bulls*** of an entree they call a salad? Our first time visiting and we will definitely be back. Went upstairs to sit in the bar area. We were quickly greeted by our server, who promptly brought us our drinks and appetizer. The mule was a little boozy, with no taste of ginger. Queso was good, but a little expensive for the amount of dip you actually get. We ordered and our food arrived quickly. Hipster toast and tomato bisque were wonderful. The 405 sandwich was petty good, lots of bread, and the bread was "meh". Our server was great, and the atmosphere was fun. Beautiful building, lots of open window, and loud 90s music playing. Seems like a great place to drink and hangout with groups. Can't wait to try again. read more

We've been really excited about having a LazyDog so close to home because we've loved the one on Pearl Street in Boulder for many years. This Johnstown/Loveland location opened only a few days ago. We often try out new places almost as soon as they open, and we came prepared and patient to experience a few glitches.... Boy did we underestimate the problems! They weren't anywhere near capacity when we arrived, so there wasn't a wait to be seated - but they took us to a booth that had just been hosed down and not dried off. The seats were very wet, and the table had giant streaks of "wipe down juices". This was followed by very slow table service and finding out that several menu items weren't available (only after we had decided on what to order). Our waitress announced, rather unceremoniously, that the menu was cut back because the "kitchen staff were stressed out about offering too many items - because they were falling way behind on orders". The bad luck continued with a 30 minute wait for the soups and appetizers - and then the main courses arriving 30 seconds later....even though we placed those orders 10 mins apart. Suffice to say that the food wasn't what we expected. The flatbread pizza tasted like it was a Sam's frozen variety. The roasted cauliflower was over-roasted. The blue and white chips were generic potato chips with cold velveeta. Just not good. They earned 1 Star from me on this visit, but I'm giving them 2, just because we're rooting for them. Maybe they just opened before they were ready. We'll watch the reviews and see if they can get things on-track. Come on LazyDog! Let's get it together! read more

Where to start? My best friend and I came here for brunch after having brunch at a different Lazy Dog location and having a good experience. This location is NOT the same. The hostess was only just showing up for work when we arrived. We had waiting a minute or two and she showed up wearing a hoodie and a backpack so at first we didn't know she was an employee. She took us to our table where I waiter greeted us quickly and brought waters right away. I don't know if the menu is normally larger but there weren't many brunch options. I got the pork shoulder benni and my friend got the short rib benni. She asked if she could sub the hash browns for something else and the only option she was provided with initially was French fries. She said, is there an option that isn't potato and the waiter offered bacon or sausage. She chose a side of bacon. The eggs are made in an egg mold which we thought as strange but I guess if that's what ensures consistency... the side of bacon came out EXTRA crispy which I liked but she didn't. The two bennis were okay. The pork shoulder was better than the short rib. Our waiter did his best and he was the best part of the experience. The only thing that was strange was how our drink refills were handled. When I needed a refill, he took my cup with the straw back to the drink station. When my friend needed a refill, he brought her another cup. This is the first place I've been since the start of covid where someone took my cup to refill it. Overall, I wouldn't come here again. To summarize: - The waiter was super nice but didn't seem to have good knowledge of the menu - The food was just okay but they seem to be working with an inexperienced cooking staff - The morning bartender (possibly manager) is obnoxious. Won't be back. We have eaten here several times but after this last time we won't go back. We'd been there just two weeks prior where you can see in the photo, the huge discrepancy in the bar charge. We were charged $26 for two Law's Manhattans on May 9 we actually had great service and food that visit. The visit on May 23 not so much! The service was slow, the wait staff were hanging out at the bar area as if it was the employee lounge. Received a warm Manhattan had to return it and it was remade and cold. But as you can see in photo they wanted to charge $58 for two Law's Manhattans. When we inquired about the charge the bar tender rudely explained it was a very expensive alcohol but they were willing to provide a discount this time but made it clear that would not be the case in the future. When we explained we were just there and charged far less she blew us off and said she'd have to talk to the other bartender. We know Laws is a premium alcohol but $28+ a drink is excessive! Lazy Dog sells gift cards that they will not honor. I have always liked Lazy Dog, good food, very friendly people, and somewhat reasonable prices. But we bought a gift card in Fort Collins for Lazy Dog, and after having a nice meal, we were informed that the Lazy Dog gift card is not accepted at this Lazy Dog location. In fact, we would have to drive all the way down to Westminster to use it. We were given a weak excuse about how this Lazy Dog location is separate from the main Lazy Dog corporation. What kind of company cares so little about their customers that they sell gift cards that they won't honor? If they have some internal politics amongst their different locations, that's fine, but why make that the customer's problem? And if this location is not a part of the Lazy Dog corporation, why are they still using the name? This experience has soured me on Lazy Dog, and I won't be back to any of their locations. Any company that engages in these kinds of bait and switch tactics is not worth my time or money. read more

Terrible customer service. Mike Jones, the manager, came over to me when I complained to my server about my drink, which I didn't like. I ordered a Mai Tai. When I told him I didn't like it, he said, "Have you ever had a Mai Tai before?" Why is that important? He said they could make me a new drink for 50% off and when I asked him to comp my drink he said he would give me half off. I called later to complain about his poor customer service attempt and he argued with me on the phone, talked over me, and told me that he doesn't see how he did anything wrong. I have been to a handful of restaurants that will comp your drink if you don't like it or offer to make you a new one free of charge, it is standard practice. At the end of our phone conversation, Mike said, "I can't believe you are arguing with me over 5 dollars." And I said, "I don't care about 5 dollars. I want an apology for the way you talked to me." Sometimes I actually wanna give this place more of a 3.5/5, and only because of the lack of consistency. Some times I leave extremely impressed and other times I wonder, "what happened?". Food: The burgers are great when cooked as ordered, particularly the Alpine, which has wild mushroom and caramelized onions on it. Bomb. Sometimes my medium-rare is more medium-well, which IMO makes for a dry burger. The lemon-herbed salmon was fantastic one day, and then two weeks later was fishy and weird. The most consistent thing we get there is the 405 Pileup, which is like a turkey bacon avocado sandwich, always delicious. The New Yorker, a reuben with blaukraut, is pretty good too. Drinks: Drinks are always pretty good, good drink specials and happy hour. Solid beer list. Solid margs. The Twisted Old Fashioned is a great after dinner treat as the sun goes down. They even have a Pimm's Cup with CBD in it lol. Service: Every time we have been the service has been pretty quick, reliable, and friendly. Always ready to accommodate. Ambience: Nice and modern/hip feeling inside, but the patio is usually more fun and lively (seasonally, of course). Not too loud, just energetic when it's busy, which we like. Gripes: Last time we went, it was a Tuesday, and the drink menu reads "Daily Specials". Tuesday's read "$3 off any burger". So I ordered a burger. When I got my check, the "special" had not been applied, so I asked. I was told by our waitress (who was very attentive and did an overall great job), that they "only run that special after a certain time in the day". What? C'mon man. A word of advice: If you have specific times that certain promotions are available, it would be wise to include the time ranges ON THE MENU to avoid frustrating other customers. I'm pretty easy going, so I brushed it off, but just a heads up to other Yelpers, check if the special you want is actually available before you order. Finally, I want to clear up some confusion here in Colorado. There are TWO DIFFERENT RESTAURANT ESTABLISHMENTS with the name "Lazy Dog" in CO. Just a heads up since I read a lot of reviews with people comparing this location to wrong restaurant! 1) Lazy Dog Bar & Grill, with 2 locations in CO, Erie and Johnstown, which is the place that I am currently reviewing. Per their website, Steven Ross is the owner. This is not to be confused with (but usually always is): 2) Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, with CO locations in Aurora, CO Springs, and Westminister (the one you can see from the I-25). Being a much larger chain, they also have many locations across the US, many of them in CA. Not necessarily better, just bigger. Although some things they serve are phenomenal and they have their own beer that is really good, the prices are usually astronomical considering the portion size. OVERALL though, check THIS place out, it's a go-to for our family, regardless of the occasional inconsistency! read more

You know I'm honest. So Imma be upfront and say that I chose this place because of the charcuterie board on the website menu. It did not disappoint at all. So tasty. So many berry themed items and tasty meats. One of the best boards I've ever had (that's a lot, I promise). I had the grilled cheese, sooooo many cheeses. My partner had the Cuban. Both were tasty and the fries were, as well. My only real complaint is that their menus are mostly using a QR code and if your phone is being cantankerous and you have to get a paper menu, it kind of felt like we were being inconvenient.
