Well it's aptly names for both service and Food. "LAZY" being the key word. This is the 3rd time trying new things at this particular Establishment. Tonight we ordered (TO GO) First they have no "TO GO" designated parking ~ However plenty of handicap accessible parking. I am pretty sure that a few of the cars in the spots were employee's. Regardless. They need a TO GO Section Secondly. As they forgot a Vital piece of my order (Sad Panda Stout) I made a call to notify the staff. I called Literally 7 times, Each time being hung up on. or Having the phone ring so long that it disconnected. Once I finally got a staff member. I explained that the (beer) was missing, instead of asking me to hold, she placed me on hold. They have no music or anything to let you know you are on hold. So I waited again for the call to disconnect. (5) min later "Jen" The General Manager answered. Mind you, not from an office but, (at the bar) where it was so noisy she was almost unable to hear me speak. She did not introduce herself, Instead she asked" How can I help you" I explained the same missing item and was interrupted halfway in explanation. She said " Oh, I know that." (What ?? ) why did you ask. She apologized, The best part of the call, Thank you Jen, and offered a refund and free $20,00 Pitcher of Sad Panda on the next visit. Super slow, rude service. Our server got one of our orders wrong, then proceeded to pretend she didn't, even blaming the person who ordered and bringing out a manager over it. Including their 6:30pm reservation. When I called I was told the "don't have the business or staff" to stay open that night. Food looks delicious but I would have killed to get a glass of water at least. As we we're leaving our waitress came up and apologized for not seeing us. We went here for the first time last night and the food was Soso. It wasn't anything outstanding nothing I'd go rushing back for. I had the brown derby salad and my husband had the short ribs. The food was bland, the prices seemed a little high for what it was, and the majority of the staff seemed both aloof and annoyed to have to correct mistakes. Details: I went with my 2 young kids who are admittedly a little picky about food and we started with chips and guacamole. Bland. As if it were smashed, mostly unripe avocados with zero seasoning. Server didn't check back after dropping it until our entrees were ready, so the starving kids ate most of it before I could even ask the server if maybe a prep cook forgot some salt, pepper, garlic, lime... Also drinks didn't make it till after the guac came, but no big deal. Asked for missing silverware/napkin twice before it came. No real kids options on the menu, so my 6 and 9 year old both ordered the Mac and Cheese ($16 and $14 respectively for bacon Mac and plain Mac and cheese!) Which supposedly has 6 cheeses in it, but tasted like 90% roux with a couple craft singles to make it legally compliant to have "cheese" in the title. I ordered the mushroom burger, medium, with fries. Two plain Mac n Cheeses showed up along with a well done burger with coleslaw. At this point the wait had been long and it was getting late so we just asked for a side of bacon crumbles to put on the Mac and the side of fries so we could start eating. Our server insisted it would only take a sec to remake the Mac with bacon and I was too hungry and tired to wait for a remake of the burger, so one Mac goes back to the kitchen and she's just going to bring a side of fries for me to replace the coleslaw. Also lots of accusatory questions between the server and food runner, but not one apology to us. 9 year old sulks for what seems like 10+ minutes until his comes back out. "Oh and those fries?" Queue heavy sigh and the server walking away without a word. Fries eventually come out after I'm almost done with my burger. Fast forward to the check. Bacon Mac was rung out plus an "add bacon", we were charged for the side of fries that was supposed to come with the burger since she had to ring them in separately, and we had to get those taken off the bill. Long story short, 3 drinks, 2 Mac n Cheese, a burger, and some chips and guac was almost $75 with tax and tip. Nearly a 2 hour ordeal, and I don't think we will be coming back. My recommendation: go to Bad Daddy's or Chili's. read more

So, turns out there are THREE different Lazy Dog restaurants, not at all affiliated. This one is its own thing, apart from the one at Orchard on 144th (a chain based out of CA, I believe) and still different from the pub we all know well from Boulder which is now located a couple miles west of I-25 on Hwy 7. I share this simply because 1) we thought we were going to the sister restaurants of one of the other two aforementioned Lazy Dogs and 2) it's nuts that this is "a thing ". I digress. Birthday dinner out, reservations were made. They did a great job spacing tables out in consideration of COVID, which we appreciate. We started with the chips and guac and some drinks. I got a Blood Orange Margarita - it was strong and tasty. My husband got a regular marg and his wasn't nearly as strong; it actually tasted watered down. Everyone else got a beer and enjoyed their drinks. For dinner I got the Shed Burger and really enjoyed it. I like a messy, too-much-going-on, "extra" burger and this totally qualifies. They missed the mark with cooking... definitely over cooked (ordered med-rare, served well-done) but it was still delicious. My husband got the Short Ribs entree which was good. It was a nice portion and the accompanying veggies were tasty. There was a large...fat cap? Gristle-y piece? Either way, inedible...chunk in the short rib but we still felt like there was a good amount of food. Lastly, their fries are awesome. They're this really unique spiral cut, chunky, crispy and fluffy fries that I enjoyed. It seemed like everyone else enjoyed their meals - green chile with a side of fries, a salad with salmon, another burger. Overall a good meal. A few places the mark was missed but in general, I'd hastily happily return. read more

Noticed a brand new restaurant just off Eisenhower and I-25 in edge of the Johnstown shopping area. So new in fact Google Maps calls this place "The Original Lazy Dog" despite the fact that it's not. Seating is weird. They have main restaurant and bar on first floor but there is also an upstairs bar with food service but the waitress didn't offer to show it to me. I just grabbed the menus and headed upstairs. Single waitress was covering the seven outside deck and seven inside tables including bussing, which I'm surprised. Other local joints have someone to take care of that separately. I recommend the outside desk because of the great view of the mountains and stunning sunset. Menu is varied with a good selection of Chef's recommendations, burgers, sandwiches, shared plates, and appetizers (see my pix). Bar menu is BIG! Over 40 beers available on tap with another 30 domestics. Cocktails and Wine list is varied and impressive. Prices for food and drinks are very reasonable. Since it's October, started with a pint of Odell Octoberfest and ordered the Queso. It arrived with small dish of Queso in middle of larger plate of chips surrounding. First taste I am like "Hmmmm". A keen fan of Queso this is about as bland as you can go. It's supposed to be "fire roasted tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, with chips. You can hardly taste the flavors. Cheese tastes grainy. It's nowhere as good as other local versions from, say, Torchy's Tacos (my favorite). Probably won't be on my list for next time. For mains I went with the Beer Can Chicken. It's a half-chicken brined in Odell's 90 Shilling (it's an Odell's nite!). Comes with chipotle-like glaze and chipotle cream corn. I asked waitress to give me some time between appetizer and ordering mains but she checked back often. My main arrived and it looks great. Blackened chicken over a sea of spiced creamed corn. Chicken was delicious, soft and juicy, not overdone, and spice rub was generous but not over the top. Bed of chipotle cream corn was actually really good. Unfortunately even though upper deck bar cleared out the response from servers also slowed. Table of ladies next to me ordered Calimari appetizer then burgers and they had to ask for the Calamari, utensils, and water after the burgers arrived. I had to flag the waitress to get a refill of my beer. It's little things like this that hurt a restaurant's image, and ultimately the size of tips the staff get. While the main course was good, the Queso appetizer was really bad. Service needs improvement. I had to wait for a table to be cleaned before sitting. At the end of my dinner there was only seven of fourteen tables and half-bar with a manager and waitress covering. Service should be better. Overall I call this a 4 out of 5 star experience based upon service, food, beer, and pricing. Reading other reviews shows this place continues to suffer from shortcomings. There are several areas where service and food can improve. This place, with its location, has the potential to be a real money earner for the Corp, if run right. The local competition...Rock Bottom, Bonefish, Bent Fork, and Bad Daddy's, are doing it better now. Management should know one thing. According to the Coloradoan, in 2018 there were 50 new restaurants that opened -but- 29 others closed. For the growth in this area, that number is shocking. It means places are opening up but not focused on the customer experience and thus failing. I would like Lazy Dog to be successful but from what I am reading and witnessing firsthand, this new location hasn't yet figured out its strategy for success. Had to add an additional comment. After reading many reviews, one thing became apparent...no response from management. Of my many reviews I get about a 60-70% response rate. Even my first review five years ago for Good Times Burger garnered a response and free meal. It appears the management of this location are either avoiding or don't care about comments. Okay... I just went here today for lunch with coworkers after visiting Scheels. They were hungry and I was okay with Lazy Dog, as I had gone to the one in Thornton (not sure if it is the same or not) but knew we were doing American food. Not my favorite (full disclosure) anyway, but I was game. I was surprised to see the reviews here (after eating) but I'm glad we went. Everyone was super nice, from the guy at the front to the waitress. I would honestly give this a 3.5 instead of 4... but so far, Yelp doesn't have this available. I get caught in 3-4 land alot... and a 4 to me is dang near close to perfection. I had a veggie burger and I was SO glad the nice waitress told me that the fries were cooked in beef fat (no thank you....I'm a vegetarian/vegan at home!) and so she helped me avoid that. They can fry them separately for you in reg oil. Awesome. The meal was pleasant and all of our dishes came out at the same time. I have read the earlier reviews and I get it- growing pains. However, now it is June and I feel they have worked on some things from earlier reviews, which is admirable. I had a nice lunch!! read more

I really wanted to give this place a 3; I've been a hard reviewer lately, but for a $75 before tip check I just can't. The great: location, atmosphere, host staff, waiter, paper straws, and WIFI. The bad: everything else. We never got a kids menu; had to ask for that and her drink; (after we already had our drinks), and they were out of crayons. Iced tea was watered down. Order our food, and wait, and wait. Finally the food comes out, the two burgers were ok, a little bland, but more importantly they replaced my kid's mashed potatoes with French fries, my chicken was over cooked and my egg that I wanted over hard was running. Sent the sandwich back, they redid the egg but gave me the same chicken and other toppings, only replacing the bun and egg. The sauce on the sandwich was gross; super salty. For the wait and mistake on my food they offer desert. We order the skillet cookie. Definitely not a skillet cookie. It was two hard chocolate chip cookies with a small scoop of ice cream and Hershey's syrup. Wtf? Thank God we didn't pay for that. In any case, not worth $75 for 3 adults and a kid. read more

We really enjoyed our experience, we got seated right away to a booth, maybe the last one they had, we were waited on right away by a very friendly waitress. She explained the menu was cut back since they don't want to overextend themselves on the first few days. We ordered cheeseburgers, fries and drinks. We waited maybe 10 to 15 minutes for our food, which we thought was reasonable considering how busy they were. Overall everything was great and we will be back again. We love the location, the bar is beautiful and they should be up to speed in no time. On a side note, I was told that you should wait a couple of months before trying a new restaurant so they can work out the kinks. That was 30 years ago, way before social media. There aren't many restaurants that have opened without hiccups in the first few days. In town for work, this place has a cool look from the outside so I gave it a shot. I sat at the bar for dinner and got to watch a little college football while I dined. First off, our server Mandy G. (Check #65, Table 1, 6/13/19) was great, no issues. That's where the positives stop. We ordered Kids Mac and Cheese with Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Cheese with Fries, and the Pot Pie. The Grilled Cheese was not grilled, and the cheese was not melted. It had old avocado and a mushy tomato in the middle and was gross. The fries though, the fries were just bad. They were incredibly stale, chewy, and disgusting. I asked Mandy if they were fresh, she gave me a look like they were not, and brought me new fries that were made fresh. Why couldn't they have served those from the beginning? The kids mashed potatoes, as Mandy warned, aren't mashed potatoes. They are just large pieces of red potatoes, and are strange tasting. Finally, while the Pot Pie was fine, it tasted no different than any frozen Marie Calendars pot pie, but cost far more. I can't imagine a scenario where we recommend Lazy Dog to friends, or ever come back. What a shame, it has such great real estate! The worst part is that my bill was $50 for some of the lowest quality food I have ever had. I'd love a refund, and to get the time wasted there back. read more

We mentioned it to our server, and she apologized, mentioned they had "been having trouble with the meat lately" (gulp) and that she'd have the manager stop by. He never showed. So last time I was here the food had a high sodium taste to it, my 13 month old son wouldnt even eat his kids burger. I wasnt able to finish my burger. Today we decided to give this place another try. We ordered our meals 20 mins after ordering the server comes out to tell me they are out of beans for the kids meal.
