My husband and I just ate here first time. Walleye was Awesome and Cheddar Burger was Awesome. The side salad and coleslaw wasn't that great, left something to be expected. Menu is somewhat simple, but that usually means they are expertise at what items that are on there. Our server Jordan was very friendly and very good. Atmosphere laid back, rustic look. We ordered a piece of carrot cake to go, looks great, can't wait to try. We will be back to try the ribeye and the other catch of the day. The only complaint my husband had was surprisingly, they did not carry beer on draft. But they do have quite a few other bottled beers and specialty drinks to choose from. We will try another time. It's in a strip mall, but when inside you walk into a different world. The camp/fish decor love it! Now down to the food and service. Service was great, it's Sunday eve 6:45 and we are seated immediately. Wine list is meh but the pours are great and the price is right at 6 or $6.5 a glass. A typical Friday date nite to find a new dining experience. We are foodie people that loves diners, dives and drive-ins. This was a fabu!ously delicious with a large tasting of c lam chowder soup for two, a maximized burger, fish and chips. The portions are awesome and this will become a monthly watering hole. Sat at the bar only. First time here and first impressions are everything. Bartender was ok, and to give her credit it was very busy...not at the bar but in the dining area. A humongous pet peeve of mine is sitting down at a bar, ordering a drink and immediately being asked "Can a I see your ID?" as if I'm a 19 year old kid trying to get one over on the restaurant. I'm in my mid to late 30's and this approach is getting old now. Just say to me "hey I'm sorry they require us to check ID's on most people, I know you're not a teenager". Don't make me feel as if I'm automatically some wicked shyster out to pull a fast one at happy hour. I have been here several times and I have to say my experience has been consistently WONDERFUL! I usually eat an appetizer at the bar or get a food to go and staff is ALWAYS just as attentive as I would expect at a regular table. I am still exploring the menu but the Lobster Rangoon has for sure been a stand out! The onion rings and coconut shrimp are also good. Skip the T-ravs (they appear to be the same stuff you can get at Walmart) missed opportunity, they might as well remove from menu, it didn't bring my score down because the service really is that great! read more

Absolutely loved the food tasted just like it came right off the grill. The coolest thing happend when my family and I were there. At the end we got our check and my wife asked if they gave military discounts the waitress said no. Thinking not much more about it as I was getting my new born strapped into her car seat the waitress comes out with a cheese cake and around the plate it said "Thank you for your service" this was so much better than a military discount it's the fact that they cared! read more

We (hub and I) have been LRG regulars for years - since they opened at least 15 years ago. We go for the fish and their nice variety of sandwiches, as well as outSTANding french fries and yummy cole slaw ... and delicious fish. We also go for a relaxed, warm, neighborly, family-friendly atmosphere .... and the FISH! When Covid lockdown hit we kept going for carryout, but it was so nice tonight to go back for dine in ! They are doing a very nice job. Tables are kept well separated, cleared and clean, and the staff is wearing masks. We saw staff carefully disinfecting surfaces and serving "clean" without making it seem "sterile". I felt safe but still fairly relaxed and casual. Dinner was as yummy as we've come to expect over the years and we enjoyed great service from Amanda who has served for them for years and knows and takes such good care of her customers. While they do a very nice job with carryout, there is nothing like getting their fried fish or their amazing hamburgers or their very special french fries fresh, hot and crispy. It was lovely to be back with these neighbors for a delicious, fresh, yummy dinner! read more

We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening around 5PM. The place was packed and it was a very mature crowd. We ordered the lobster ragoons, onion rings, and cheese bread for appetizers. Fairly small portions for the price, so that wasn't a great start. It was very drafty, as there is no vestibule area into the restaurant, so many of the ladies were wearing jackets. 40 degrees outside, and probably close to 67 inside. Our waitress left us dry often, and forgot to return with one of the kid's drinks on a refill run. Dinner was average. Walleye was tasty, but the filet size was small. Ribeye was nothing special and the chicken tenderloins were rated as "gross" by three kids. I'm sure the mature crowd there likes the ambience and the food taste more on the bland size. We were not impressed and will not be returning. read more

I was there yesterday for lunch everything was awesome and the food was great I had the chicken sandwich and try the fish it was awesome

First time to this place, as my family and I are new to the area. So glad we finally tried it out, I know that fish is their specialty but the Bacon Bleu Cheeseburger was pretty doggone special in my opinion. The fries were like crunchy seasoned-fries or something my whole family LOVED them. Our server Mandy was super sweet, attentive, and down to earth (in a way that makes me wish that there was a 6th star on the rating system). I even got a free dessert (amazing cheesecake) because our server overheard my wife and kids saying that it was my birthday! The decor made me want to drink Moosehead Lager and maybe buy a canoe or a 12 gauge in case I get invited to go duck hunting by someone. When my family comes to visit from out of town this is where I will be taking them to eat for sure. From now on when I say "who feels like some North American tonight?" My friend and I were looking for a place to get seafood and this popped up on my Yelp app. It had pretty good reviews and seemed to be a place that is a little off the radar. It's in a strip mall and the decor may not be my favorite but this little gem was packed on a Friday night. The staff was incredibly friendly and for a busy evening the service was great. My friend ordered the Walleye special and I didn't even know what kind of fish that was. It was in a potato crust and fried and I wish I got that. It was so good. I ordered the this salmon special. It was spicy with a hint of sweetness. My salmon was cooked perfectly too. It came with a side of broccoli that was good but seemed to have cheese or something on it and I would have preferred it plain. The entree came with the lodge salad which was interesting and the house green goddess dressing was tasty. I would absolutely come back here again. It was worth the price and is very underrated. Basically, it's a Rye Old Fashioned. I wasn't impressed. I'm certain the drink was prepared properly, I've just cemented in my brain that I don't care for Old Fashioneds. Are we just going to ignore the sooooper heavy mulberry plug-in smell that overpowers so much when you walk in, and throughout your meal, that it's hard to really taste the food??? I mean, pretty darn decent food! Why mist it be completely ruined because someone thinks it should smell just like her country home does, times 5? Its really wrong, that you walk in a restaurant, but cant smell their delicious specialty being served, only the perfume in the air. Surprised none of the other reviews have mentioned this. Mixed feeling here. My gf had the ribeye special. Flavor was good, but the steak was close to half fat. Yes, ribeyes have fat, but just marbling. This was huge chunks of fat. Now for my meal....the walleye was off the charts good! Couldn't be better! For dessert, the bead pudding was out choice. It's definitely big enough for 2 people. We couldn't finish it, but that being due to the size. It was wonderful! I'd of given less stars because of the steak, but as I told her, it's not a steak place. Walleye is the perfect fish for people that don't like fish. Firm and not overly fishy. I think they go through a million pounds during lent. When not eating the walleye on Friday try a burger. The burgers here are darn good. I would have to take off my shoes now to count how many burgers I've had here and they have all been juicy and delicious. Get a few mixed drinks (my buddy loves their long islands) and enjoy your family/friends with great food and a very kid friendly place. For those people that hate kid friendly places, they have so much outdoor equipment hanging around the kids are mostly speechless while gazing around the room. It isn't like a McDonald's. He said he was going to get one this time too. I was like what the heck...the fish is great here. He said he really enjoyed the burger last time so he was getting it again. This is my father's absolutely favorite restaurant in st. louis for one reason. The Walleye. I'm not a big seafood person, so I just took his word for it. Everyone at the table assures me it's wonderful and supposedly that is the big draw in general. I had the grilled chicken club (one of my weaknesses) and it was really tasty. Very thick bacon, perfectly prepared chicken, and enough cheese to satisfy the Wisconsoner in me. **Just to be clear, I'm not actually from Wisconsin, but I desperately wish I was so I could justify my unhealthy love for dairy. The restaurant itself is easy to miss, being in a strip mall, but I wouldn't let that deter you. The atmosphere feels very "outdoorsy," focusing on the fisherman kind of decor. Not really my thing, but a good family oriented place. It's nice to have a local spot in West County, and even nicer knowing it's popular among residents. I live in the city, so I probably wouldn't venture out here on a regular basis on my own, but knowing it's a favorite of my dad's, I'm sure I'll be back soon enough. read more

Wife and I had dinner and everything was great, food came out hot, and our waitress Amanda was very attentive; always checking on us, including the manager. We had the Crab Cakes for an appetizer, and of course it's all crab! No fillers. I ordered the Frog Legs which were huge. and they included the upper thigh which each one(you get four) is connected to the other like an inverted U. My wife had the Walleye and she loved it. Came her last Friday night with the parents. My mom is a big walleye fan so, after hearing great things about this establishment's version, she had to try it. Mom ordered the walleye special which was the same as the regular walleye except it had slivered almonds added to the breading. Dad ordered the regular walleye and I ordered . . . a buffalo chicken sandwich. I know, I know. Why order standard bar fare at a fried seafood place? Easy - not a huge fan of fried fish. My sandwich was pretty standard so no complaints from me. My parents both enjoyed their walleyes and the portions were plentiful, for $18.99 you definitely get your money's worth. The walleye entrees came with a side and a starter. Mom went with a side salad with the homemade green goddess dressing and enjoyed it. Dad chose to start with the red pepper gouda bisque, which he found quite tasty. For sides, mom went with French fries which veered more steak fries so if you are a shoe string fan I'd consider a different side. Dad went with the green beans and I didn't hear any complaints. The restaurant itself is quaint and no frills - family friendly. Our server, Ima, was a good sport and constantly (in a good way) checked up on us to make sure we had everything I needed. As I was leaving I encountered the owner who was a jovial man and made those who were waiting on a table feel like part of the family. Great service, always has been. What's changed though are the prices and the food. $19 for the Lazy River signature Walleye dinner but that gets you a smaller portion of fish than before and one vegetable. Comes with soup or salad but still, prices are now too high relative to what you get in terms of quality, quantity and atmosphere. Tonight's visit was telling: very light crowd vs packed before. We do $50 dinner on a regular basis but Lazy a River isn't worth it anymore. Ps the homemade dessert like the cobblers used to be amazing but tonight's peach cobbler was the worst I. Have ever had. A soup with no crust made with way to much cinnamon, ugh. Even the aal mode ice cream was a heap off brand. Bottom line - lower quality and quantity but higher prices. read more
