First visit went off without a hitch. As did the second. It seems like a nice place, the food is good, the service is nice, the atmosphere is, also, nice. I'll not go into too much detail, you'll just have to try it yourself. I will say, though, that the walleye dinner is quite good. The portion is of a good size, the breading is not too heavy. A great place for seafood or a burger. The portions are generous and the people are great. I usually get the shore lunch with fries. They have those batter dipped fries that are extra crunchy and good. I also really enjoy the blackened tilapia. My hubby likes their burger and steak sandwich, kiddo enjoys the t ravs. The kids meal is a fave (comes with a small scoop of ice cream). They also used to have a kids eat free night (not sure if they still did as my kiddo aged out). Great dining experience. We had walleye and rib eye dinner plate. Walleye was juicy and flaky and light on the breading. Seafood is definitely the highlight here but I took a chance with rib eye and was pleasantly surprised. Meat was tender and good flavor. It was not 'buttered' up for flavor just plain goodness of the meat itself. Portions were generous. Most surprising was the cucumber ranch dressing. WOW! Side salad comes with the plate and I highly recommend this dressing. The side salad has corn salsa a refreshing change to side salad typically offered at restaurants where cheese to greens ratio is 100:1. This one is just right. Decor is fun. If you're into fishing a definite must stop. Waitress was attentive throughout. This This is the sister restaurant of one of our regulars. We regularly go to Yellowstone which offers the same selections as Lazy River. These two restaurants have walleye fish that is wonderful! Casual and friendly atmosphere, the room festooned with fishing gear and momentos, the service friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful family run restaurant. It is decorated with all kinds of fishing stuff that my oldest kid loves to look at. The servers have always been so accommodating with our kids as well as my elderly in-laws. Their food is delicious. My favorite is their side salad with the Green Goddess dressing and their black bean/corn side. I have had so many different entrees. I really like their fried fish as well as their burgers. We traveled 22 miles from home on our 46th anniversary to have the Walleye special at Lazy River Grill. Wow! What a treat. It was lightly fried with a fine breading served with cubed red potatoes, sautéed onions and sweet peppers along with cole slaw. Christy provided us with exemplary service. When she found out it was our anniversary she took our picture. Then she printed & mounted it on a card for us as a keepsake. The restaurant is tastefully decorated in a whimsical fishing motif that reminded us of the restaurant in Custer, South Dakota where we first fell in love with Walleye. This is the first time I've written a review like this but we had such a nice experience that we thought it was deserved and warranted. Really enjoyed Lazy River Grill. Situated in a strip mall in Ballwin, the restaurant is decorated in a fishing motif. It's actually really cool with trophy fish, a canoe and lots more fishing paraphernalia hung on the walls and ceilings. Definitely makes for something interesting to look at. They specialize in... you guessed it... fish. I had the walleye. It was pan fried and came with potato wedges and Cole slaw. Fish was excellent, loved the slaw, wedges were mediocre. Hubby had a Cajun burger- said it was good. Nicely cooked and well seasoned. A variety of fish themed drinks are also offered as well as wine, beer and other cocktails. A list of homemade desserts were on the specials board. All sounded delicious but we were full as the portions are large. Parking is easy and the restaurant was clean and well kept. Third time's a charm? NOPE!! We really want to like and enjoy this establishment. But, good grief, each time we have visited we have had such a horrible experience. Today, literally just now, was no exception. We walked in at 5:33p. Was seated a few minutes later - that's great. Once seated, we sat there until just now when we left, 5:53p. Why? Sure. Because no one ever came over to the table and greeted us! That's right. We literally sat that nearly 20 minutes and no one came to the table. So, we closed the menus and just walked out. And as we walked out, staff just starred at us, didn't attempt to even intercept or speak to us. Horrible. We had similar experiences the other two times but the difference is we stayed and stuck it out. The food was mediocre and not worth the wait. So, we were not going to wait. Again. Not sure how this place stays in business. I'll take our money else where. This establishment should be embarrassed. POOF!!! Never again. read more

I had the lump crab cakes which were absolutely cooked to perfection and scrumptious. I've had lump crab cakes at Faidley's Seafood in Baltimore, Maryland which has award winning Maryland style crabcakes, but they were nothing in comparison to those at the Lazy River Grill. The fries were perfectly seasoned and some of the best I've ever had. Slaw completed the meal. The only reason they are getting a 4 instead of a 5 is because I had to go ask for our check at the end. The Lazy River Grill, or as I call it Wacky Walleye's. Why do I call it that? I have no idea but that's the only name I can remember it by. I have eaten here about three times, but this last visit we were in a bit of a hurry because we had an unscheduled conference call to get back to. We told our waitress that we were going to have to eat and run so she did everything she could to speed the process up for us. She did a fantastic job. We live really close by so I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time but we have hesitated because the menu looks pretty limited. On a recent beautiful summer evening I really wanted to sit somewhere with a patio so we decided to check out lazy river Grill. my husband cannot stand fish but I really enjoy it. Lazy River Grill is definitely fish heavy. There are some items on the menu that are not fish but not a huge variety If you are not a seafood lover you're going to be stuck with pretty basic options like a chicken sandwich, a burger or a steak sandwich. Not bad options but not a lot of options. My husband had the ribeye sandwich on garlic bread at the recommendation of the waitress. I had the walleye sandwich. My husband liked his ribeye sandwich just fine but it wasn't his favorite that he's ever had. My fried walleye on the other hand was outstanding. It was gigantic and overflowed the bun by about double the size. The coleslaw and tartar sauce are great. I always like malt vinegar in addition to tartar sauce on fried fish and they had it and brought it out for me. I also had a Caesar salad and enjoyed the dressing. They brought out some kind of cheese spread as an appetizer which was good, but they brought out packaged crackers to go with it and I'm not sure it was the best pairing. I think I'm going to struggle getting my husband to go back because the majority seafood menu made him uncomfortable. If you like fish/seafood I definitely recommend lazy river. read more

Popped in for our 1st dinner here 3 June 2017. at 7pm the place was about 30% full. We liked the slight twists on the "signature" cocktail menu and there were well made. Our waitress was friendly, perhaps to friendly as my wife was referred to as "honey" and i became "buddy." Others suggested ordering the sandwiches rather than the dinners given the massive quantities of food. I ordered the "grouper" sandwich and it was two large fillets and more than enough. interesting how it never really became crowded but the food was decent, service was efficient but too familiar for my taste. the camp decor was not over the top but certainly a theme and great displace of the owner's passions. will try it again for a burger as others have raved about them. "grouper"=hard to really know it is grouper unless you are buying from the fisherman on the dock while you watch them fillet the actual fish. read more
