Rude rude rude! Sure, he does the job, but for the price, you'd expect him to be at least nice. Been here once before and he copied one key without fuss. Not exactly friendly or cheap, but he did the job and they key worked. Flash to a few months later and I need a group of keys copied for my business. I was in a hurry and called ahead to ask how long it'd take. Nothing fancy, but needed a time estimate. He said it'd be quick and hung up before I could ask anything else. I should have taken that was a red flag. I show up and he ignores me for a few minutes while he's doing work. He knows I'm sure, glancing back at me a few times, but no greeting, no "be with you in a minute," no acknowledgement of any kind. Finally, he turns around and asks what I want. I show him the keys and tell him what I need. He tells me he can't copy one of the keys because of the dumb "do not duplicate" thing on it. I can live without that key, so ask him to ignore it. He begins to challenge me on every key, even though the rest of them were normal and had no security or duplication warning message on them. He implied he would do them all for an extra fee which I immediately argued with because I wasn't asking for anything crazy. So...BOTH keys to my 10 year old Rav 4 broke. One simply split exposing the entry and lock buttons. The other was fine, but the little loop that keeps it on my key chain was broken. I lived like this, jamming the key in and it respitting, or forgetting the other key because it wasn't on my ring...for MONTHS, because when I called the dealership they were going to charge me $300 to replace each key!!! I manage several properties in the Hollywood area so I've grown accustomed to using LB Locksmith. At one point the customer service was great and it beat going to Home Depot on Sunset. Not sure if they changed owners or not but they have now employed an older gentleman about 70 years old. He made several keys for me that didn't work. I ended up going back 3 times and the 4th and final time he was extremely rude. There is no need for rudeness at all as I can easily go elsewhere and spend my money. He and I exchanged words and I politely left and I will never again give them my business. I've never had this problem until recently. The reason I took my keys back 3 times is because things happen and I was giving him the chance to fix it. I broke my old key, I bought a new replacement blank key off ebay and transferred my old remote's internal chip to the new key. One of our favorite office activities is duplicating our "DO NOT DUPLICATE" office keys, which has routinely been a time-suck and a pain. We were able to do it here, in and out in under two minutes, with a signed letter on company letterhead. Takes the company card without a hassle. Fantastic. A+. Would key again. EXCELLENT KEY MAKER I've been coming to Lazaro since the early '70s. He's a bit irascible, in a sweet sort of way, but he has always made excellent keys. He's in a little wooden stand in the parking lot of a small, kind of seedy mini-mall, home to a few old hollywood enterprises such as Mashti Malones hand made ice cream. Recently there's been another (younger) keymaker there with him, and I wouldn't be surprised if Lazaro isn't there anymore on my next visit (tomorrow?). None-the-less, L.B. is my first choice for personal service, well-cut keys, and very convenient parking. Not to mention an occasional cup of Mashti Malone's. read more

I found this place here on Yelp and it was close to my office. I went during lunch hour so the little parking lot was pretty busy but I still was able to find a couple open spots. It was just the owner when I went so I had to wait a little bit because there were 2 people ahead of me. Not a big deal. He cut the keys perfectly and it was a really great price. I got 10 "do not duplicate" keys for around $20. He takes American Express which is always a plus. He was super nice and helpful and did the job in like 5 minutes! ATTENTION THEY CAN COPY/ CLONE YOUR VESPA TRANSPONDER KEY! Wow top notch service! I had to clone a Vespa GTS 300 key (with no master) and everywhere else I called said they don't do that. I called and he said to bring it by. I came by and they didn't have any official Vespa or scooter keys but the owner is creAtive and diligent. They ended up using a key from a Toyota Corolla. At first it was difficult to get it cut perfectly but the guy didn't give up. Eventually he got it to work perfectly! Price was what I expected for a cloned key. Bottom line this guy can clone your VESPA key without the master. I don't know anywhere in LA that does this. Thank you guys! PS make sure the older white haired guy is there. This guy is the only one authorized to make copies of my building's front door key, so I had to go. The shack is a bit creepy (and if you pass by it when it's not open, it's easy to assume it's abandoned!) and I made note of other reviews that the guy is kind of... gruff. He was gruff, but I was friendly and direct, he made my keys in just a few minutes, I paid and they worked perfectly. I got two sets of keys (three keys to a set) for $8.50 in less than five minutes -- perfect. The only slightly inconvenient thing is his hours -- 9 - 5:30 on weekdays (so if you work, sorry), 8 - 2 on Saturday and closed Sunday. I fit him into my Saturday errands, but if you have busy/not early Saturdays and work, I imagine it could be tricky. read more

I love this place. Sure, it doesn't look like much. It's really just a small shack in the Mashti Malone's parking lot near Sunset & La Brea. But, as an Apartment Manager I make a lot of keys and I mean A LOT of keys and LB Locksmith is my go-to place. Romeo is always kind, courteous, and friendly and there's hardly ever a wait. He remembers my name and greets me with a smile, I give him my keys, and voila, he hands me my copied keys. I usually pay between $5- $6 for a few mailbox and apartment keys. Never any hassle or stress when I come here unlike some other places. Sometimes parking can be tight but Romeo is so fast at what he does that I've never had a problem parking in the "Mashti Malone's Only" spots.
