Sunday July 2nd, stuff member (bar-back) came over the sofa area around 1:00 - 1:30 am telling 2 other couples , my friends and I to leave the sofa with an impolite and homophonic actitud saying that party was about to finish. We were having a great time (as usual vibes were here) unfortunately , stuff member ( bar-back guy) was upset for any other situation ( probably high on something) and started a no reason fight pushing me almost to the water. I went to the bar for a drink to calm down and let the situation go. this stuff member (bar-back) followed me and told me that he was going to make everything to kick me out of the club. He called a Security Member telling him that I touch him ( wich was a completely LIE) .. who throw away my Completely new drink with out ask/ consulting what happened. First, I really want this situation to be check by cameras where you can see who started the whole situation , they wont lie on what really happened. Second , money for thrown cocktails should be refund and not just kick out a customer like that . Le Bain is great! As with any upscale night club in NYC, you'll be turned away if you're drunk, or belligerent in line, so keep it classy people and don't show up in sweatpants. There are private events so it helps to know some hosts or staff at the club but that being said, I've never been turned away (just be courteous and confident with the bouncers). The inside of the club is super high energy and great for dancing. Features include disco balls, a hot tub, floor to ceiling windows which provide views of NYC, and great music. Upstairs you'll get even better views of the skyline, so take your selfies up there. Everyone is pretty friendly in my opinion, from the bar staff to the clientele so just let loose and get social. read more

Came here on a Satuday around 4pm. The line was long and they were turning people away. I got lucky to have known someone at the door. There is only one elevator so the line for that can get quite long. Once you get up there, the first floor has couches, a bar and a Jacuzzi. There were people soaking their feet in the jacuzzi but no one really in it. They give you free towels. The top floor is open and where most people hang. Ambience: The stairs to go up to the roof or down to the bathroom are really dark and dangerous (if you're intoxicated). I loved the graffiti on the walls. The bathroom line can be long but moves fast (gender-neutral). Music was good but not really dancing type. Crowd: 90% women and 85% white and for the most part, attractive. I heard they don't let guys by themselves in or groups larger than 3. So if you go as a group break into pairs and pray you all get in. So if you're a single guy and don't have a hookup, you will have to bring sand to the beach. Place gets crowded quite fast. View: Truly amazing view of the west side and New Jersey. Service: Bartender up and downstairs were nice. The wait at the bar can be lengthy but not too bad. Drinks are $14 and up but pretty strong and tasty (but I'm too cheap to have more than 2). I had the obsession (minus the ginger) and it was oh so good. I'm glad I got to experience but if I did not have the hookup I'm not sure I would take the risk of getting turned away like so many people did. read more

I arrived there around 10:30PM and they had a line outside but it moved really quickly. I'm not sure how they decide which group or couple can get in or not but I guess it is safe to go there with group of girls ;) I went there in the mid April. They close their pool and roof top bar was closed too. You can still go upstairs to see the view. The view was good and drink price was decent (normal rooftop bar price). The only part I really hated was coat check and elevator hall area. The space is so tiny and it is packed with both people coming in and leaving. Plus, coat check person said I cannot bring a bag with me but the person next to me was allowed to bring in even though our bags were same size... No idea what is going on. Gorgeous views and chill vibes that gradually turn into dance time (unsullied by the typical lewd radio radio hits)? I approve! Especially as someone who usually hates the usual club scene. I felt swanky in a lounge like this. My only regret was I didn't get to try the crepes... there's always next time. A group of 5 of us trekked through the biting cold and over some mild cobblestone (in heels!) to get to this beautiful orange beacon beckoning us to the lounge. I'm always happy when places do not have a cover charge since it's such a buzz kill especially if you want to hit up more than one location in a night. When we arrived a bit past 9PM and there wasn't an infamous line yet thankfully. Unlike when we left at 12:30am and people were waiting outside in the cold for enough people to leave to get in. We arrived to see only a couple seats by the window open and quickly snagged them. I agree that the drinks are pricey, but seems to match the overall ambiance. They offer bottle service and give preference to larger groups who order this option for seating at the couches. I think our group was displaced at some point, but we quickly found another set of couches that weren't overtaken by people with more disposable income than us. We had no desire to torture ourselves and actually go outside on the rooftop but I imagine that would be a much more tempting option in the warmer months. I can just picture watching the sun set over the water with the picturesque cityscape in the background. We just enjoyed the view shielded from the harsh winds behind the glass. The bathroom is not really well labeled but it's down a flight of stairs with interesting graffiti type artwork. Also did I mention it's unisex? As the night continued on and the more mature crowd trickled out, we noticed that they subtly changed the music from relaxing background beats to songs with faster beats encouraging people to dance. They even revealed the giant disco ball! We witnessed a lot of fun and great dancing. I even attempted to dance a bit myself, but I really have no rhythm. I also enjoyed that I never felt like I was shouting to talk to my friends and the next day I thankfully did not have the sore throat syndrome. Went with some of my friends as belated 21st celebration. We got there a little past 10, and was let in but was told that groups after us were turned down bc it's invite only after 10. The jacuzzi (which had cold water) was nice, esp with the discoball shining light in all directions. The rooftop itself was windy but also nice- the view was amazing. At times you could smell weed but overall it was good! The drinks were beautiful too- we all enjoyed the one with lavender & gin, although the drinks lacked consistency. The prices were reasonable. We were sitting at a table and was told to leave bc it was being reserved for bottle service- was kinda rude in explaining it. The music was nice, the dj was good. This review is based on my experience on Sunday at 2:00pm; the reason I'm being so specific is because if you go this early it's not as busy (for the first hour or so) and you really get to enjoy the rooftop and the view. The views are beautiful and the seating is very comfortable if you can get it (again go around 1:45pm, get on line and yes they will make you wait until at least 2:00pm but you can get up there first and grab seats) and the drinks are very good. I had one cocktail with mezcal, passionfruit and ginger which was great. Lastly they sell sweet and savory crepes on the roof and they're only about $8 each. An amazing view of the city and waterfront. The staff here are all miserable. They must either all be having the worst day or are sick of the patrons coming through. I didn't encounter one person who wasn't without an attitude or bickering with another employee. A bit of help the door or access is on the side of the hotel not through the main lobby. This place is a very wonky turf so be careful when walking. The restroom is two floors down from the terrace only accessible via the stairs and it's one large hand washing room with individual locking stalls. The drinks are typical but nothing special. They try to make themselves sound better and exclusive, but in reality, they are nothing. I've been to le Bain couple of times, liked it. Greats views , alright , nice environment. This past Sunday after brunch 3 friends and myself tried getting in. The two bouncer let a group of 3 go in and when it was our turn they literally looked at us , up and down and denied us access. I told him we had friends upstairs and they said it's full but they still let people in after us. I felt like they was being homophobic, or maybe because we didn't have a female in the group. We were dressed fine for a Sunday brunch attire. It was literally my friend's and I first time getting denied entry like that. Just the way they looked at us was so unnecessary, so downgrading. They wouldn't tell us why we couldn't go in. So unprofessional of the bouncers. They need to get fired and replaced. read more

Oh, Le Bain, how you are my fav spot in the city at the moment. Nestled 18 floors above the city's uber-trendy MeatPacking district lies this eclectic rooftop bar, where fun, debauchery and tomfoolery ensue on a nightly basis. And because rooftop bars are so trendy (and because this city's skyline is one of, if not the best in the world), Mr. Balazs has not one, but two completely different and separate bars to choose from. Le Bain is the cheeky, hipster, wild-child, anything-goes first-removed cousin of the two. As you enter from the side of the hotel on 13th St. and are ushered into what seems like service/freight elevator, you are quickly whisked up to the penthouse level of the hotel. As you enter into the gloriousness that is Le Bain, you may either go right, or left. The left will lead you to the main bar of the "club level." To the right, the first set of doors you see will lead you to stairs that will bring you up to the rooftop level. Continue pass the doors and you will find one of the club's WC's (I won't disclose where the other one is hidden, as it always it much less of a shitshow than the one by the elevator, and I don't like to wait very long to pee). Once through the hallway you will find a small room with tables lining the edges. Le Bain is too hipster cool, so you'll rarely find anyone ordering bottles (I said rarely, not never) so feel free to sit at an unoccupied couch. The center slash master piece of this room is the [in]famous diamond shaped *pretty much anything goes* hot tub. It's fairly small. It's only 4ft deep. It's always warm. And yes, there is a towel lady handing out fresh, warm towels to you as you exit. And no, you do not need swimming attire to jump on in - most people dive-in in their skimmies (or less). But, they do have a vending machine right before you hit the double doors to the rooftop level selling limited edition Quiksilver boardshorts and bikinis. There are couches and tables that surround the hot tub, and a huge disco ball atop. Mind you this is all amidst the floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the city. Between the main bar and the hot tub is a small area that could be dubbed a dance floor. The DJ booth is perched next to the bar. Make your way up stairs to the rooftop and be treated with even more spectacular views. Covered in AstroTurf, there is really cool lawn furniture, including giant round waterbeds to romp around on. There is a bar on the roof, as well as a creperie serving sweet and savory crepes well into the wee hours of the morning. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Essential Info: Throughout the summer, Le Bain is pretty much open all day, every day. Getting in during the day is much easier, and will impress anyone! At around 9p they begin clearing out and re-open at 10p for a different party every evening. Le Bain is still one of the hotter spots in the city, so if you don't know anyone or don't have a good ratio or good looking group, then chances are you won't make it past the ropes. The dress code at Le Bain is fairly lax - anything trendy and hip will be just fine. The average drink here is around $12 - what I paid for a belvedere tonic (belvedere is their well!) and the bartenders pour very generously. So just to clarify, according to the Standard's website, Le Bain encompasses both the penthouse lounge as well as the rooftop. On Yelp, some reviews for the rooftop are under Le Bain while others are under the Rooftop Bar listing. Le Bain's discretion at the door can be pretty inconsistent or at least not intuitive. Last time I went there an entire group of girls were not let in because they were not invited by anyone and Le Bain could not accommodate a group their size. Had they shown up in pairs, they probably could have gotten in. I had no trouble getting in even though I stood out with respect to the dress selection of the men on a Sunday afternoon - apparently summer Sundays at Le Bain is time for jort season. It is the jort capital of the world or at least NYC. The views are amazing (plexi-glass from the floor to ~6 feet high allow for unobstructed views but make it an inconvenience to get clear photos). The views span the W to SE and are pretty amazing (just a pain for photos). I think these are the best views in the city (next to Press Lounge which has a different but equally amazing view of the city skyline). The entire floor and even some of the benches near the entrance are lined with fake grass. Most of the area is uncovered so on hot days it can get brutal but at least if you can't find a table, most people sit on the floor. There are a few bar stools and tables around but usually get snapped up instantaneously (tables are pretty small / short - any tall person will not be able to fit his/her legs underneath). The crowds are pretty classy (relatively) and relaxed and (not as loud or obnoxious as other places) but sometimes a bit pretentious (which is preferred to the fist-pumping , poor excuse for dancing specimens that frequent other nearby rooftop bars). It's a tremendously popular place for European (tourists). For some reason this place reminds me of the Smug episode from Southpark as well as that Duck Sauce Barbara Streisand song. There are no beers on tap (just a couple in bottle) and drinks like all rooftops are overly priced. Wine, margaritas and other cocktails round out the alcohol selection ($12-$18 bucks a drink). On a side note, the staircase from the penthouse bar to the rooftop smells like pancake batter once you make it to the top, you will figure out why (crepes are served). read more

Le Bain sits atop the ritzy Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District and my girlfriend and I felt only slightly out of place as we waited for the elevator in our Target outfits, elbow to elbow with a group of fancy metros in their skinny jeans and blazers. Take the elevator to the 18th floor and get your ID checked by the imposing bouncer, who will then open the door to the bottom floor of Le Bain, which serves as the dance club area. When we went on a Monday, this was dead space, with only a few people lounging by the windows. The smell of chlorine will immediately tingle your nose because there is a small pool / hot tub here (wish I'd known or I would've picked up a bikini at Target too), but don't linger too long because the real Mccoy awaits you at the top of another flight of stairs. Let's not mince words; the view at the top of this hotel is KILLER. So much so that on a weekday afternoon, nearly every inch of the plush couches, chairs, and even the more uncomfortable faux grass blocks were taken. We actually sat on one of those blocks that was right under a speaker and had terrible club music ringing in our ears most of the night. Not only that, our conversation was punctuated every ten minutes by someone asking us to take a picture for them because we were sitting right by the best view of the house. Still, for all of that, our feathers were largely unruffled because when your drinks are that strong, it's hard to feel bad. I guess we must have tipped the bartender well because he added almost an extra shot to both of our drinks before we stepped away. We both ordered from the cocktail menu - she got the T.G, which was a bourbon-cucumber drink, and I ordered the Mexican, which only looks docile and pink until you take a sip. With big round slices of jalapeños, this drink was an inferno of a drink and my lips were a little numb by the time I was done. There is a small kiosk up here that serves up both sweet and savory crepes. The smell of Nutella coming off of some nearby girl's plate was almost enticing enough for me to get one but we didn't want to risk losing our spot. Nursing our $14 drinks (!!), we hung around until the crowd got too loud and pretentious and the cigarette smoke began clouding the view. After our boozy brunch down the street at Beaumarchais, we stumbled upon Le Bain, located on the rooftop of the Standard. I've heard that it gets obnoxiously bougie at night, but we had a great experience here in the afternoon! We ordered two pitchers ($64 each, an individual cocktail is $16 so if you're in a group, a pitcher is definitely worth it) and were allowed to occupy a table. If you don't order a pitches, you'll have to fend for yourself, or sit at an unoccupied table until they kick you out. Since it's a rooftop party, you will get an amazing view of NYC into Brooklyn. The co-ed bathroom is located one flight downstairs and the line moved pretty quickly for us. The music was a mix of top 40s so no complaints there. read more

This place is great. It holds an extraordinary view that anyone could fall in love with. You can see everything from here: the Hudson river, the empire state building and even the freedom tower. Wow just wow. Inside, this establishment holds a pool which is pretty sweet. Unfortunately, I was not aware that there was a pool here and did not prepare my pool bag. I do however, expect to return soon with a bathing suit and hope to take advantage of the pool area. I came here after a boozy brunch and opted out of trying their drinks here. My friend got a mojito for about $14 and she enjoyed it. I recommend this place for anyone who appreciates the views NYC has to offer, with a slightly high-cost drink. Rooftop view is the only good thing about this place. Many other clubs offer the same thing. Came here on two separate occasions. First night we waited in like for 1+ hour to get to the door and watch the bouncer be racist towards the non English speaking couple in front of us who didn't have a ticket. Would have seen the no ticket thing as a bigger deal if there was anything going on inside but there is not. the woman/man (tranny) bouncer is totally out of pocket considering you're going into the most dead club in the area. I think they act that way to make it seem like it's hotter than it is? If the club was even a little enjoyable I would've looked over his/her attitude problem but totally not worth it for what's inside. The music was a dead scene, only enjoyable if you took some molly/acid. Overall not worth the wait, not worth dealing with nasty service. There are so many things to mention in a review about LeBain at the Standard Hotel. Here are a few that combined for a 3-star rating. The graffiti in the stairwell is very cool. The bathrooms have million dollar views of the city. Even if you don't have to go. You totally should. The drinks are a bit overpriced and we definitely didn't have the sharpest bartender. FYI- Mojitos are made with Rum. Not Vodka. The inside bar was sooooo crowded for a recent event and there were wayyyyyy too many people allowed inside. It's not fun to be pressed up against strangers all trying to watch a performance. Even on a calm night- the rooftop bar gets windy. Gals- try to wear your hair up and Gents- leave the hats at home. They may look cool but that wind may send them flyin'. So... my visit was OK. Would I go back? Probably not on my own and probably not for a show. To hang out with some friends on a nice NYC night- sure. The views are still fabulous even if the drinks and such aren't. read more

Le Bain is still going strong. I popped by here on a Friday night and had a ball. Just to give you a breakdown here is what is cool about this space- No cover, every time I have been here, but a very discerning door. No Coat check fee. Just make sure to tip. Elevator going up is industrial style, fun. Get out, and the 18th floor is dark and sexy. Reminds of fun Hotel and Industrial high floor clubs in Hong Kong, Paris and Jakarta that I used to frequent. The space is very French in feel. One night when I went on a Sunday for Satoshi Tomiie I think more then half the club was French. Most recently I went on a Friday night, and the space was a bit more bridge and tunnel and a little younger then before, but still good. The restrooms are fun with floor to ceiling glass and low partitions. The drinks here are stiff, and not overpriced, the bartenders quick, and amazingly not too pretentious. Best nights are off nights like Sunday, Monday, and other nights when interesting promoters are bringing solid, even if very focused DJ talent. In a city now full of simple "pay to play places", this venue works hard to maintain an original cool New York vibe. I am happy to see it is still going strong. read more
