This spot was highly recommended by one my friends who owns a dental office nearby. It's very cozy and I would never have ventured here on my own because space is limited. However, he often dines out often after a tough day of work so I trusted him to pick a good place and I was not disappointed! Food was excellent as well as the service which was very personable and felt right at home. We opted for the bar area because it's easier and more intimate to sit next to each other. My only critique was I feel like the quality could've been a bit better (didn't knock me out of my seat) given the price tag. Specifically the lamb special, was a ragu, they didn't serve the lamb over the pasta. The pasta was virgin from the lamb and when I tried to pair just didn't mix well. They have both indoor and outdoor spaces - unfortunately outdoor is on the pavement and the claxophony of cars doesn't help with the experience. Notwithstanding we tried the crab cake and the bouillabaisse. The crab cake was good and it was only crab meat with no fillers. Unfortunately a very forgettable meal for me. I came here for dinner. We were seated outdoors immediately. They have some indoor seating - about 8 tables mostly for couples. Outside they have about 5 tables in the summer. The service was relatively slow and since the menu didn't have too many options I was hoping all the food that they did they would do well. From menu to leaving we ordered about 3 dishes and it took 2.5 hours. At best the food was fresh but it wasn't either tasty or memorable. It didn't have either flavor complexity or interest in terms of ingredient combination. Phenomenal service. An area frequented by locals (skewed elderly) which is always a good sign. Wait staff split one our hangar steak frites onto two plates for us, with more than enough fries for each. Consistently checked in with us and showed genuine interest in our dining experience. Wonderful French food in an intimate hole-in-the-wall. We started off with a number of apps- a salad with great dressing, delicious oysters that weren't too fishy, and escargot that were verrry garlicky. Their house bread is clearly freshly toasted and it was those small details that added up to my great experience. We got a number of entrees to share- the steak was perfect at medium rare with a DELICIOUS blue cheese sauce and the fries were crispy but not greasy. The seafood risotto was amazingly cheesy and they didn't skimp on the seafood. The salmon was also very good, although the vegetables were a little softer than I liked. The bouillabaisse came with more toasted bread and some cheese to melt. Service was great- I don't think our wine or water glasses ever emptied. I live in NJ but went into city to see a friend and we wanted French so took a 15 minute walk over. They are so friendly and place was warm and perfectly lit not to bright or dark. We ordered some nice dry wine(little pricey 18 a glass) Then my friend got the escargot and I got the salmon tartare. Wow both were amazing Then we both got the beef Bourguignon shepherds pie. I have eaten a lot of French food but this may have been the best dish I had. This was a very good French bistro it's small and has a very authentic feel up to it. The service was excellent and the food was excellent as well and it better be because it was not $28 For the duck confit but it was 32, the prices have gone up. We had an appetizer, main course shared a desert, and 3 glasses of wine for a grand total of $80 a head, and that's without the tip. However you get what you pay for, and it was certainly very good food. I can't give it five stars for these prices though; I think it's a bit overpriced but very good. read more

Passes the vibe check!! Went on my second date with this v quirky boy so you know, it's romantic. The place is bijou. I like that their Instagram is not constantly being updated, adds to the whole rustic vibe of the restaurant. He got le Hanger Steak and I got l'Arctic char. I added the le's and l's because it's fun I later realized I was being charmed by this Ivy-educated, semi-awkward tech bro whilst simultaneously having identity crisis thoughts, but the Tarte tatin saved me. The restroom has tasteful wallpaper and the photograph reminds me of le petit Nicolas. My friend and I were actually on our way to a different spot for brunch, but we passed by this place and it looked too cute to not stop by and I think it was fate that we went here instead because this place is such a gem. We didn't have reservations (refer to previous paragraph for obviousness), but they were able to accommodate so well. The brunch prix fixe comes with a choice of orange juice or coffee and a main entree (no dessert rip), but the eggs florentine I had was so good 11/10 one of the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had, and I've had *a lot* of hollandaise. The best part of this place though is definitely the atmosphere. It's so charmingly French and I can't describe an aura in words -- you just have to be there. So go and be there. read more

I can't describe how much I love this place. It reminds me of the mom and pop owned restaurants I went to in Paris-- rustic good food that is not trying to be trendy/fancy/instagrammable. Inside it is darkly lit with a few small tables. It is very cozy, warm, and intimate. Over the summer they have some outdoor tables which were also nice to sit at since Cornelia St has a lot of outdoor dining. The crab cakes (~$24-26 for the app) are the best crab cakes I have ever had. They do not have any flour in them I believe so it is mostly just crab. They are a must get. The seafood salad ($36) is also one of my favorites for a lighter dish. It has crab, shrimp, fish, lobster, beets, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, radish, carrots, frisee, asparagus and an herb vinaigrette. It is actually a large portion and is filling. The bouillabaisse (I think it's close to $30) is also really nice on a cold day. It is on the thicker side in terms of broth and it is delicious with the bread and rouille. I do not eat meat but I was told the cassoulet ($42) is amazing as well as the duck confit ($28) which comes with the best potato gratin. Le Gigot is a quaint small French Bistro in West Village, Manhattan very accessible by A, B, C, D, E, F and M trains at West 4th Street subway station. I miss the City of Light "Paris: La Ville-Lumière", Paris, France. Reservations for parties of three and larger are recommended. I sat at the bar counter, amid very content with the passage of time slowly my mind became phlegmatic. My server Derick is very staff is attentive, professional, welcoming, ready, able and willing with enthusiasm who suggested wine pairing with my food selection. I desired small plates, but not a entree. Upon exiting the weather became colder and the staff inquired if I had a sweater to shield from the cold. Background music was not boisterously loud and is conducive for conversation with dates. Facilities are relatively clean but somewhat small size. The bill is handwritten but itemized. Business cards are available. No Happy Hour is available, but good food, libations and quality customer service are present. Green Salad $14 Baby greens and fig vinaigrette dressing with half cherry tomatoes The greens were fresh and the dressing was a good consistent amount slightly salty but a good starter. Potatoes au gratin $12 It has been forever since I had intake this side dish and I enjoyed it to the tee. The cheese, milk embedded was not thick nor excessively rich or heavy, neither too creamy which I am happy that it was neither. This is one of my favorite classic French side dishes. Chocolate Cake $14 Served with chocolate sauce and fresh blueberries this dessert was a true delight. I am truly enamored of this dessert. Muscadet, (Domaine des Quatre Routes Sur Lie) 2018, $15 This white wine was partnered with richer dish as my potato au grain as suggested by Derick which he is on point. Pale with bright yellow tint for a bouquet acidic citrus, orchard fruit that hones a distinct taste. This wine is a nice balance to intake heavy foods. Pay it forward as my server Derick who served me very well I left a very generous gratuity. Credit cards are accepted. I was well respected, the food is good, overall I was served attentively with humility and grace. I would surely return for the Onglet (hanger steak). This is certainly another great French restaurant. The beef stew dish was soooo good. The sauce was reduced to the point that all the flavors were condense. Meat was tender. And dipping the bread (crispy and soft) in it was just so satisfying. The duck confit was done perfectly. The skin was crispy. On that day, the special was the lamb, also great. We got super lucky and snagged a 645 resi last minute for NYE! And to my surprise it is located on the famous Cornelia street (Swiftie over here iykyk) across from Taylor swifts old townhome. Didn't want to write a review since they say if you don't have anything nice to say...but since I've been blown away elsewhere recently and was led astray by reviews here to try Le Gigot, so: When the beef bourguignon is supposed to be their speciality and it was the worst you've ever had you know you're in the wrong place. Maybe their cassoulet is great, but we couldn't try it as intended because the menu changed (the day we went we checked online to ensure it was still served). We understand that it's a winter dish, but this was early spring (and still quite cold) and it was presented as being available and was the main reason for going there. To sum it up this place was a disappointment, from food to ambiance and service. I was told the crabcake was decent tasting despite seeming to be canned meat. Regardless for the price and size it was not a good value. This place overcharges for subpar food and crams you in a tiny room, where somehow you still have trouble getting the waiter on occasion. I literally couldn't eat my dish (the stew). I think the only thing that was good at all was the wine and that our waiter was nice and tried to be attentive (until the end). Oh and when you're served a hot chocolate cake for dessert when you were expecting a delicious chocolate mousse cake to save you from your disappointing dinner, it sucks. Maybe they don't want to be one of those places that serves lava cake, but that's basically what that cake is. and surprising someone with hot cake is not cool or okay. I LOATHE lava cake. Found a hidden gem for French food lovers! Although that was brunch time, we all opted for classic French dishes. They gave a generous amount of escargot and it tastes oily in a good way. The Niçoise salad was simple yet delicious, light yet flavorful. I really like their salad dressing. The duck confit was for share and they considerately split it for two dishes. For desserts, my friends tried the bread pudding and ice-cream trio while I had the cheese plate instead. I love the blue cheese but the other one was mediocre.
