If you are going to be in Corvallis, you MUST go to Le Patissier. My wife was told by her sister who lives there that there was a great "French Pastry" place we should try. Well being French ( and from the city of Lyon ) I was a little skeptical about a small town in Oregon having a real Patisserie...... Boy was I wrong. This place is the real deal ! If you ever been to France and enjoyed the pastries there, you will definitely not be disappointed. My wife loves the almond croissants and when I meet Didier ( the owner ) he invited me to come in his kitchen has he was busy making some croissants. I joked that he was putting "too much butter" in the dough and he replied.... "You can never put too much butter ! " Yes, in France we use a lot of the good stuff ( and cream and cheese..... ). This French bakery is superb. My Franc-phile friends say it is actually authentic. Their almost cream crousants are our favorite treat. The only probem is they often sell out early in the day. It's worth calling in an order. They are happy to hold ordered items for pickup. read more
