My party of 2 visited went to the Afternoon Tea to celebrate my birthday. I added it to the reservation and Le Salon contacted me a couple of days prior to confirm the reservation and ask if I was celebrating anything. I responded that I was celebrating my birthday and thought I'd at least get a happy birthday upon arrival. Nope, nothing, no mention of my birthday the entire time. With that said, we've been to countless teas and this was by far our least favorite. Service was not good throughout the entire experience. There was a long line of people waiting to check-in with the host. No host was present for several minutes after my party arrived. When the host finally appeared, there was no sense of urgency to check in and seat groups. We were seated at a really small and short table for 2. I'm tall and had to be cautious of sudden movements so I didn't knock the table over. Everything was so cramped on the table and looking at the busy table made me anxious. The table was preset and I wonder how long the milk was sitting there because there were several things floating on the top of the milk. I requested that it was replaced. There was also a hair on the placemat that my plate was sitting on. The tea cups were stained on the inside. The food was brought out on shaky, unstable tiered plates. There were just too many details that Le Salon failed to pay attention to or even care to pay attention to. The tea was not sat on our table, which as a first to me. That meant we were at the mercy of the server to refill our cups. The sandwiches were okay and scones were good. The desserts were confusing. There wasn't 2 of everything, which I'm accustomed to at teas. Also, they were very minimal. At first I thought they were garnishments for the scones, so I asked the server if they were the desserts. After we were done, we waited and waited and waited for our server to come in our direction so we could request the check. Once we requested the check, the server proceeded to another table to chat with people that she knew. This was not a table that she was servicing and she had an extremely long conversation with those individuals, to include sitting on one of their laps. There was an automatic 22% gratuity added which I did not appreciate because we DID NOT get 22% service. To sum things up, I do not recommend the Afternoon Tea at Le Salon. read more

Came here for one of their themed afternoon teas. It was SO much fun!!!! We were lucky enough to go to the LGBTEA themed tea. (Their themed tea services are listed on their website and on set weekends only). There were two amazing drag queens and a pianist performing for us for the whole service. I wish I had their names but regardless shoutout their local drag scene. There were so many teas to choose from and there were many unique flavors and notes in the teas! They as well had bottomless mimosas and screwdrivers (causing me to forget to take photos of my tea). Like other tea services they had finger sandwiches, scones (with spreads), and small desserts. The desserts were good! The other items weren't for me really but I'm not a big finger sandwich or scone lover. They were able to accommodate my party and provide gluten free alternatives/swaps which is always great. (You have to call far prior to the tea services-ideally when you book the event- to ask for an accommodation to their set courses). They have a very clean very cute bathroom as well. I came for the high tea and it was lovely. Lisa was our server and she was so cheerful, even though we had just had hurricane Francine. Each person gets their own plate of sandwiches and sweets, so I was able to have it customized to suit my dietary preferences and accommodate my allergies, which was wonderful. The lobster sandwich was divine, the chocolates were lovely and my tea was just delicious. I also had a glass of champagne and my dining companion had a cocktail. These were included in the price of the tea which was about $50 and then with tax tip and gratuity included it came out to $65 a person. We were thoroughly stuffed and pleased. The music Playing in the background was a professional harvest and it was beautiful, but it wasn't too loud. The furniture was gorgeous. It was a very serene and pleasant atmosphere and the bellman were all wonderfully kind as I valet parked. Valet parking was eight dollars, which is a discounted rate with the high tea and I didn't even have to ask to get it validated hostess automatically did it for me. I always get a formal tea when I travel. I really enjoyed the selection at this location! The sandwiches offered a good variety of flavors and I greatly enjoyed their black tea blend and chai. A fun bonus was the included cocktail! My complains include that the tea was not left on the tablet requiring the waitress to return to offer refills. I was left waiting when I was wanting more! The other is that, on the dessert tray for myself and my 3 friends, there were not identical offerings, making it awkward to decide who got to try each item. All three courses were absolutely delicious, perfectly executed and flavorful. Me and my grandmother came here on a Sunday for tea. Amazing service! When we arrived valet helped me and my grandmother out the car and the price was reasonable for the time we stayed there which was little over a hour. I'm from Maryland and my grandmother lives in New Orleans so we wanted to do something special together and this place was perfect I will definitely be returning. I wish I could remember who all I spoke with leading up to our reservation. She was so sweet and accommodating especially because I called them about 100 times. She had no problem rescheduling me and making sure our experience was nice she even gave me a link to pay ahead of time. She even passed the message on that this was a special outing for me and my grandmother to our waitress who was SOOOOO amazing (can't remember her name!!). The food was great for the setting. Very appropriate, me and my grandmother don't eat much so it was the perfect amount. For starters we received a sparkling signature cocktail called the purple queen and that was so cute and tasty. My favorite things to eat were the smoked salmon sandwich, cucumber sandwich, and the scones. The tea!! So good. I had the strawberries and champagne and it was just amazing. Seating is either at tables or at the couches with settings that seemed to be the same throughout the place. Servers were very friendly and helpful but did not rush us at all. We had a few of the cocktails and enjoyed them, they are a little on the sweet side. It doesn't seem like a lot of food at first, but it does satiate the hunger - little finger sandwiches (truffled egg salad, cucumber, smoked salmon, smoked turkey, chicken salad), scones (black currant/walnuts) and dessert. The setting couldn't have been more spot one...the harpist was playing beautifully, ladies dress in hats and Sunday's best, and finest China was out. Maybe I was hungry and jet-lagged, but the I did not care for the small bites. The sandwiches were ok, but the bread was hard. Scones were good after you scraped off the sugar crust. This place definitely has a monopoly on the NOLA afternoon tea market, and I am definitely ok with that, because they do it well. I've been here over a handful of times, and their savory sandwiches and sweet desserts are always on point when I come. They have an extensive tea selection with a number of alcoholic cocktail choices, and the pricing is reasonable. My current favorite savory item is their curry chicken finger sandwich and really just any of their scones. Food and drink servings are also just right, so you don't overeat. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and the environment is clean and still classy, even during covid. I have never had high tea like this before. When you are offering high tea - you should lead with high tea. That is not the case at LeSalon. They start with the cocktails and sandwiches and it seems that the tea is an after thought. The sandwiches come and have to be completed before the sweet part of the dishes is served. As a result there is no way to balance the sweet and savory flavors. As the time goes on it seems that the service level also goes down and you find yourself wanting to serve yourself. This is the first high tea that I have been to that keeps the tea on a separate table which prevents you from refilling your tea. Instead you are at the mercy of the server. It is obvious that since the pandemic they have reduced the filling in the tea sandwiches - which would be fine if they had reduced the size of the bread. Unfortunately, the bread to stuffing ratio is way off. As a result the predominant taste and flavor is the bread - with a hint of stuffing. It is also kind of strange that a mouse was in the restaurant and they didn't seem to make any effort to actually remove it. I took my mother and mother-in-law to Holiday Tea at Le Salon and we all loved it. Such a great experience! The Windsor Court Hotel couldn't have been a more festive setting. They decorated Le Salon with poinsettias, gold-gilded magnolia wreaths, a gingerbread McMansion and a towering Christmas tree. In one corner, a harpist was playing which was a nice touch. It all felt welcoming and fancy without any stuffiness. The traditional English tea service consisted of the following: --A glass of sherry, sparkling wine, chardonnay or (adult or nonalcoholic) cocktail --A pot of properly brewed tea (choose from two dozen varieties) for each guest with coarse rock sugars --An assortment of English tea sandwiches (truffle egg salad, cucumber, smoked salmon, smoked turkey, curry chicken salad and lobster salad) --Scones with preserves, Devonshire cream, lemon curd & vanilla bean whipped cream --A plate of mini cakes, tartlets, chocolate covered strawberries and truffles The presentations were beautiful and everything tasted more delicious sipping tea with my pinky out to be extra. Even though I thought the price per person was quite expensive, I think it's a great opportunity to just experience it/treat yourself once in awhile. **Book ONLINE reservations at least one week in advance!! SUPER PACKED! The English tea service includes a glass of sherry, sparkling wine, chardonnay, specialty cocktail or nonalcoholic cocktail. A properly brewed pot of tea. She sat us elsewhere and we waited 17 Mins for someone to come to our table. This lady let us know she was not actually our waitress but would take our order. Our first course appeared before any beverages appeared. Water finally arrived at our 2nd course. Our tea cups were often empty. As for our sweets, there were not enough for each of us to sample each one of the creations. Towards the end of our meal our server joked that she kept on forgetting about us. I went to my second fancypants high tea over the weekend and it was great fun. I would definitely recommend reservations. My 2 adventures in tea parties were really different. But Carmen was awesome both times. 1st time was a random Sunday in June and my group and one other were the only ones there. It was relaxing and a great way to catch up and chat with my friends. The 2nd time was this past Sunday and it was a special Mad Hatter's tea. The place was packed! And there were tons of kids...who were mostly well behaved. I was tad bit disappointed that they didn't carry the Mad Hatter theme into the food. The only special items were eat me/drink me notes on the sugar and creamer. Plus an actor who played the Hatter, but when my Mom quoted the book to him, he was confused. Oh well. He was mostly there for the kids. For your prix fixe menu/price, you get a cocktail, a pot of tea (beaucoup selections), and three courses: seasonal tea sandwiches, scones and desserts (tea cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, etc). The menu was the same in both June and August, but it is supposed to change seasonally. They do offer a number of themed teas throughout the year, some are more child oriented (Princess) and others are definitely for adults (Prohibition). So, I am among a rare group of men who actually thoroughly enjoy afternoon tea. Because of my mutual love and appreciation of afternoon tea with my girlfriend, we make sure to grab afternoon tea on every vacation we go on. So when we planned a trip to New Orleans, we decided to come here upon recommendation by one of her peers. We walked into the hotel and noticed that Le Salon was essentially in the Lobby area on the hotel, which I found to be interesting. The tables were exceptionally low and small, and although the ambiance was cute and quaint, there was not much terribly special about it. To their credit, they had a piano player who was playing music, which was a nice touch. But there were extended periods where she was not playing, so the random choppiness was notable. This tea establishment is slightly different in that they start you off with an alcoholic beverage, which can be a nice touch, but I find to be unnecessary. It is included in the already high price of tea and the menu doesn't give the option of taking it out. Upon sitting, we had our alcoholic drink orders taken; the drinks were good. They then immediately brought out the tea sandwiches. I understand that each tea place is unique in their own right, but there are three things I disliked about this. First of all, the sandwiches came out prior to the tea, so we did not get to enjoy the sandwiches and tea concurrently. Second, it just felt rushed. And lastly, tea is the main attraction in my opinion, and we did not have a chance to enjoy it from start to finish. Also did not like the fact that they were not served on a 3-tier tray, and were not exactly as plentiful as other tea establishments. We finally got our tea orders taken once the sandwiches were nearly gone and had our cups poured for us. Here, they do not leave the teapot on the table for you. The added service is nice, but those moments of empty glasses were not pleasant for either of us. The tea itself was good, and the service was quite friendly, which were pluses, but again, the timing and the lack of accessibility were not pleasant. Then the scones came out. There were four scones, two pairs of different flavors. It came with the customary creams and jams, all of which were good. Then the desserts came out (again, no 3-tier display). The thing that was glaring here was that there was only one type of each dessert, so we each only got to try half of the desserts. The desserts were alright, but we've had far better elsewhere. By the end of the experience, we had paid $96 for the two of us, tax and tip included. It was a pleasant experience and we had enjoyed ourselves, but was the experience certainly was not worth this high of a price point. And be warned, you can spend extra for "premium teas" (as if this was expensive enough), and be prepared to pay for valet parking for a "discounted" rate of $10 (unless you are lucky enough to find street parking like us. Long story short, there are far better tea establishments for a lower price, and far more things to do in the NOLA area for a better value. Next time I am in New Orleans, I am looking forward to trying afternoon tea at the Ritz Carlton; I recommend you look elsewhere too. read more

I attended afternoon tea here yesterday. It was fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive. The selection of teas was plentiful. I chose the lemon pomegranate and it was superb. Every bite of food I had was greatness. I am Picky about textures and do not typically like meat salads but the curry chicken salad was amazing. The lemon curd was perfectly tart and sweet at the same time and the Devonshire cream was what heaven is Made of. The scones were the best I've ever had. Sandwiches included, smoked salmon and chicken curry which were delicious, ham and egg (separately) which were ok, and cucumber on brown bread which was dry. Scones were extra sweet, not needing the raspberry and lemon curd that accompanied it however went great with the cream spreads. Our seating was very comfortable however lacked privacy. People kept on walking by us and starring at us which took away from the experience. We made reservations for 3 but only 2 of us could come, I know this is rude but the manager threatened to make us pay for all, since they make the food by the amount of reservations. We agreed to do so but felt like she was angry with us because one in our party was unable to make it. Sorry, but I'm sure it happens all the time and can be accommodated for, especially for just one person. And by food, they mean bite-size sandwiches and scones, not giant steaks or rare seafood. So we were a bit put off by the treatment we received initially. The other servers were very nice but with a 20% tip already built in to the overpriced affair, were in no hurry to the point of irritation. Even though we were at a relaxing tea and not in a rush, 20 minutes for the check and another 20 to have it returned is a little much. The nicest thing is the ambiance, however, the tea service is held in the hotel lobby. It's beautiful but kind of odd. Needless to say, we won't be back and will not be recommending it to anyone. Unique experience! I was with a group of 11 ladies. Starts with a cocktail (I had the sangria) and finger sandwiches - I did not like the lobster salad on a cucumber, but I also don't care for seafood. The teas we tried were the Strawberries and Champagne and then the Bourbon Vanilla Chai. The sugar to put in the tea looked like rock salt, and there was also milk - both of which I added to the Chai and it was great! The bf and I have developed a little tradition of having afternoon tea when we go out of town. In New Orleans there were several options to choose from but we took the advice of a sorority sister and headed to Windsor Court. Tea at Windsor Court is offered at 11am and 2pm on the weekends. This is a little different but fit it well with our timeline. Tea is served at Le Salon, which is the lobby bar offering a nice ambiance of several mini living room set ups. There were five other groups enjoying tea during our seating. Because we were a small party we were set up at a side table while the larger groups sat on chairs and couches around a coffee table. Although not as comfortable as sitting at a regular dining table this is more authentic to how afternoon tea is traditionally served. In the US most people incorrectly call afternoon tea high tea when in fact it is a low tea - meant it is served on low tables in a parlour / living room. High tea is served at the dinner table and is a hearty meal - this was traditionally enjoyed by the working class while low tea was a tradition of the nobility. Now you know. When we arrived the table was already set up with everything we would need including creams and jams. Tea at Windsor Court does not come cheap: $37 per person plus tax and 20% gratuity. It does however include a cocktail to start with. I got sparkling wine while the bf got the milk punch, which he said was very good. I immediately zeroed in on the gunpowder pearl tea, it was legitimately very good. On the menu were several "rare" teas for an extra $5 a pot - no thank you. Our tea sandwiches came out after the cocktails. They were good but very small. Honestly I am not a caviar fan, too salty. Although the presentation was nice I do like the tired tray system other places use. Larger tables had their items served in this manner so it was not a space issue but just the Windsor Court method of presentation. After the sandwiches our tea arrived - I'm undecided if this was on purpose or our tea was delayed. For space and I'm also guessing service tea was not kept on the table. Although I appreciate this thought we actually drink tea and aren't there for the novelty so not having access to our tea pots was a little annoying. I did however enjoy the rock sugar provided. After tea came scones, which we enjoyed with the raspberry jam, Devonshire cream and regular cream; neither of us are lemon curd fans but it looked nice and I heard another table inquiring about it so it is for some people. After a few cups of tea our desserts came out. I'll admit, I was super disappointed. It really bothered me that we has to pick between different items. The bf wound up not liking his chocolate piece so I had both. This is the smallest dessert selection I've had at tea. And the chocolate covered strawberry was very bland. Very sad. Overall we had a nice time and were there for an hour and 20 minutes, it was clear though that we were welcome to stay and enjoy more tea. A piano player played at times which was very nice but she took frequent breaks, as in three during our short visit so I can't really say it added to the experience. At $96 for the experience we won't be back but an glad we tried it once. We continue to hold The Peabody (which costs less than $70 for two) as our favorite tea experience. The cocktails were a nice touch but added unnecessarily to the cost and not really anything to the experience. Our waiter did a really good job taking care of all the groups and did engage us in conversation about tea when we mentioned this is something we do frequently so that was very nice. If you happen to be traveling by a Windsor Court and want some elegant fun it's not a bad idea to give the tea service a go. read more

being the classy ladies we are, we booked tea time at le salon at the windsor court hotel. you know, we needed a break from mardi gras and bachelorette festivities. tea time was exactly what we needed. first: a cocktail (love it!) then: tea and finger sammiches and then: more tea and tiny desserts there were 6 of us, and we were stuffed by the time it was over. we couldn't even finish the desserts. everything was pretty yummy. the tea was good, even though i think it was steeped too hot. nothing stood out- good or bad. live harp performance was pretty cool. ambiance and décor were lovely. the pricing wasn't terrible. i'd do it again... made us feel like ladies after getting rowdy on bourbon street the night before. read more

What a wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I were visiting New Orleans and just love afternoon tea so Le Salon was on the must visit list. Everything about this place was great. Friday afternoon is the ideal time to experience tea at the Windsor Court, if you are dining with other adults. There were very few children at the Friday seating, and no large bridal parties, so the atmosphere is quieter and more relaxing than what I have experienced on a weekend. The service and attention from our servers was outstanding. They were so warm and friendly and seemed to care about making sure we enjoyed our experience. The selection of fruit tarts, cheesecake, lemon bars, chocolates, and chocolate covered strawberries was very fancy and delicious. A macaron or two would have been nice. The scones were decent. The finger sandwiches were lacking. They were dry and uninspired, particularly the egg salad and the cucumber variety. The turkey one was very good, it had some sort of spicy cream cheese on it. I didn't try the pinwheel, the salmon mousse or the caviar one, as I think two of the men with us ate them all. Although it might not be considered a "traditional" part of a tea service, I think the menu would greatly benefit from the addition of some hot canapes, miniature quiche, etc., even if offered for an additional charge. I enjoyed trying a selection of teas and the setting was comfortable. The harpist played Beatles tunes, which always makes the mood better. It is a little pricier than the tea at Ritz-Carlton, and also the Ritz offers FREE valet parking (Windsor Court discounts their valet parking down to $5 if you have tea there), but I think Windsor Court has a slight advantage due to the sincere service. read more

Tea time! I have only been but once; I did enjoy my time there quite so! I adored seeing women dressed in a variety of colorful hats, and the live piano music fits the atmosphere perfectly. The teas were all quite good with a lump or two of sugar. It was exquisite indeed! Now the $$$ was a bit high for the amount and types of finger foods you receive, thus the one star off.
