You can truly taste the love and pride put into preparing the food. Everyone at our party raved about how delicious everything was, esp the povi masima (melt in your mouth goodness!) The service was excellent as well--very clear and concise. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Le Umu came highly recommended by a colleague (Josh K) who would not stop raving about it, claiming it had the best Samoan food ever. Naturally, we decided there was no way we were leaving Las Vegas without trying it. First things first.... these hours are... interesting. They're only open from 11am-5pm, Wednesday through Sunday, so plan your life accordingly, lol!! We came right when they opened on a Saturday because I heard the lines get serious later in the day. Pro tip: worth it!!! The place itself is super clean and welcoming, which immediately set the tone. What we ordered (aka the greatest hits): * Sapasui (noodles w vegetables & meat) - perfectly seasoned, comforting, and impossible to stop eating. * Povi Masima (coned beef brisket) - brined just right and not overly salty like some other spots (huge win). * Paifala (pineapple half moon pie) - piping hot, fresh out of the oven. We actually had to wait five whole minutes for it... and I'd gladly wait ten more. Light, buttery, flaky perfection. * Talo & Fa'i (taro & plantain, the starch to pair w entree) - perfectly simmered with great texture, and that coconut sauce? Chef's kiss!!!! * Palusami (taro leaves simmered in coconut milk) - theirs has povi in it!! I've never had palusami with meat before and now I'm wondering why everyone isn't doing this. Soooo good!!!!! Long story short: everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Came in here not really knowing what to expect since I've never tried this cuisine before. They let me try a sample platter with a little bit of each item. I was hoping to really love it, but overall, it was just alright. I enjoyed the corned beef and the noodle items the most. The sausage and curry were rather bland, and I didn't like the taro at all. Hopefully they make some adjustments so I will come in to continue supporting them, but ultimately if this is their traditional taste, I can't expect them to make changes. read more

They work hard to prep all food from scratch, and they hands down, know how to cook and give great customer service! When you walk in, it's a quaint little kitchen, buffet style. Employees serve your food with the quantity you request. You have three containers to choose from. To-go box, 16oz or 32oz cups with kids. Food is weighed in pounds and you can load up as much or as little as you want. Once you order your hot foods, you can continue in line to the pastries. I have never met anyone who can make pagipopo as delicious as Le Umu AND you can even order ahead of time for pickup!
