Fantastic food! The rib eye was one if the best I've ever had and I have had a lot of steak in my lifetime. Risotto, bone marrow, lamb t-bones, all spectacular. we had a party of 8 and we all sampled each others food since they serve family style. Our server was very nice and attentive and everyone we encountered would say hello. Only knock on this place was the drinks. They took way too long and they were expensive. Perhaps they were understaffed but it was just a Monday night. I'll still go back. I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

It was my first visit to Lechon and it won't be my last either. Went with my friends we order several taps dishes. There was not one disappointment of a dish. My favorite was the Bone Marrow. When I asked the server about the serving I thought it would have been half of the bone but nope it was the whole bone split in half. The marrow was like butter and the chimichurri was a great accent for the dish. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. read more

Came here for a bachelorette dinner (large group), and their servers handled it well. I generally loved the food, and I liked that it was tapas so you could share a few with the table. The dishes that stood out to me were the chicken bites and the pork belly, both cooked really well. I liked that the chicken bites were a bit spicy. The pork belly came with a pancake-like bread that went very well with it and helped cut away some of the fattiness of the pork belly. There were a couple of dishes that were a little too rich, such as the chicharrones, which came with a lot of the chicharrones without too much to balance it out. Very good Bloody Mary. It has a smokey flavor from the fire roasted chilis they use. Unfortunately, service is really slow here. Even with only 75% of the tables full, they couldn't keep up. Many of the servers and bartenders have a chip on their shoulders for no reason. The food is just okay and not worth the price. It took 20 minutes for us to get our drinks and almost another 1/2 hour for our appetizers. The two women behind us were really mad because they were seated and ordered before us and were served after us. Almost an hour later, no one took our lunch order, so we left. We thought we were going there for a couple drinks and lunch, but we only had three hours. Go around the block to The Hungry Lion. This was our first time coming in for dinner. First off the decor and music is so inviting. Our server James was very informative and gave great suggestions. Food was outstanding!! You can't beat spending happy hour on a patio with a delicious cocktail in hand and yummy small plates to share with your best friend (and best furry friend)! This place has it all---high quality food, expertly crafted cocktails, and fair prices. This is easily the best place for happy hour in Portland, and they take reservations, so no waiting to push yourself into a seat at the bar! The atmosphere is definitely upscale and contemporary, but the service isn't stuffy. Every server is friendly and willing to help explain or suggest things on the menu. My husband and I ordered gaucho bread, cheese empanadas, a beef stew, and a burger slathered in chimichurri sauce. Everything sounded so good---we wound up splitting everything. Being carbivores, we enjoyed the gaucho bread the best. It's doughy on the center with a slight crisp on the outside. It's grilled over an open flame, topped with salt, and served with a delicious chimichurri paste. Each dish was bursting with flavor and top-notch. The cocktails were also the bee's knees! I ordered a cocktail with smoked pineapple juice, and it was to die for! I also had a hemmingway, which was like a daiquiri. Each drink was sweet without being overdone, and you could still taste a nice hint of alcohol with each sip. I don't remember exactly how much our bill was (I had quite a few pineapple cocktails,) but it definitely came in under $50 for a ton of food/drinks! Lechon was good overall even though the dishes we ordered were hit and miss. Service was friendly enough. We called for a reservation about 45 minutes before and they were able to accommodate us. I had two drinks "Le Garra" punch and a vodka tonic. I should have been on my ass, honestly. The fact that I barely felt the drinks, even after my 2nd, when I hadn't eaten all day, makes me go "hmmmm." Wine makes me quite giggly, so it's suspicious that two hard liquor drinks left me so coherent. We ordered brisket empanadas, smoked marrow, pork belly and burrata. The brisket empanadas were tender and tasty with a good mix of filling. Nothing overwhelmed the other ingredients and the pastry was flaky. I liked them. There were two. It wasn't an overly large serving and the creamy sauce was good. I would order these again. The smoked marrow with gaucho bread was amazing. I could eat this all night. The marrow was a good consistency and had a delicious smokey flavor you don't get from marrow St. John. Yum. The pork belly was also good. The menu and the server gave us an expectation of a pomegranate glaze, but it was barely present. It really needed more. The leek griddle cake could have benefitted from it. Then we waited a long ass time for the burrata. Our server felt quite embarrassed about it and said it was a tough thing for the kitchen to get out on this particular night. And it wasn't worth the wait. What a disappointment. First of all, it looked nothing like any burrata we'd had before or the pictures that others have posted on yelp. We didn't even get the pleasure of piercing our burrata ourselves. It was smeared on the plate, and a much smaller portion than the other pictures show (like half). They served it with a bunch of toast, but there was barely enough to cover two pieces. Further, it appeared to have been warmed and then pierced and was cold and congealed by the time it arrived. I had to use my butter knife to separate a portion to put on my tomato and toast. They really shouldn't have charged us for it at all. I would have been embarrassed for that to come out of my kitchen. Even with the potentially watered down drinks and the burrata fail, we might go back for the smoked marrow. Good flavor but literally had one tiny cherry tomato, 1/8 of an avocado, two 1 cm cubes of cucumber, 1 cm slice heart of palm on a tiny pile of jicama. Really enjoyed dinner at Lechon! We arrived 30 minutes early to our dinner reservation, planning on just grabbing a drink at the bar while we waited. Instead of waiting we were told that our table was ready and were seated at a window seat. We had a hard time deciding between the chefs choice (set menu) and just ordering tapas and dishes family style. After much deliberation, we ended up choosing several options from the menu: 1. Foraged Mushrooms - really delicious, the brioche toast just melts in your mouth and paired really well with the fried egg and mushrooms 2. Shrimp ceviche - really fresh and really flavorful! 3. Bone Marrow - five star dish, really decadent and rich! The best dish of the night and best marrow I've ever had! 4. Lechon - really flavorful pork dish, we were so full from the other dishes we had to box this up 5. Patatos- delicious, but again, we had to box this up We tried several different drinks from the cocktail menu and all were tasty! This place is delicious! It was so busy but they seated us at the bar. The service is excellent and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The drinks are so well made and extremely delicious! We were in Portland on vacation and wanted to try something a little different (my poor husband has never had tapas!). We found Lechon via Yelp and had to try it. I must say, the service here was impeccable. Our server was very helpful and his recommendations were fantastic. We had the Peruvian fried chicken bites (probably wouldn't get these again), salt and pepper squid (amazing!), foraged mushrooms (also to die for), burrata and patatas bravas (my barometer for all tapas restaurants).
