This place is a zoo!! Pizza is good, super thin crust, but if we ever want pizza from here, it will be picked up, not dine in. Hosts don't tell you that you have to order at the bar yourself, then wait for your number to be called. If you don't know how this place works, you could be sitting for a while, wondering why no one is helping you. If you go during a busy period, get ready to wait and wait and wait and wait. Heaven forbid your order is wrong - more waiting and waiting and waiting. Sides are fine - salad was good, but had to order it "to go" cause it's not listed on there as an option when dining in - only the salad bar, which I refuse to do. Kids running all over the place, music is loud, TVs on, but you can't hear them...just insane. Too bad they can't control the environment better cause the pizza is really tasty - but there are a gazillion other places where the pizza is good, and the atmosphere is less hectic. read more

After having read every review of Ledo's Pizza. I am in concurrence with the majority of reviewers that came before me. Ledo's, like most other restaurants that are good enough but don't rise to the level of distinguishing themselves at or above their best competition, has really obvious strengths and weaknesses that leave me with a polarizing perception, hence the average review this place is getting from me. Ledo's STRENGTHS: piping hot pizza, moderately-priced, a bar with an impressive array of beer, spirit, and/or wine choices, arcade games, kid friendly, a go-to for 'down home' comfort pizza [for locals especially], a social atmosphere after sporting events, all ages, casual 'down home' style, refills on CUPS might be good for casual watching of sporting events. Ledo's WEAKNESSES: poor customer service, longerish wait times when busy, noisy kids running helter skelter around the restaurant, CANNED mushrooms, greasy pizza resulting in cheese & toppings that slide off too easily, too many toppings on pizza, NO REFILLS on pitchers, long wait times when busy, bland tomato sauce, smalerl TVs, pure bedlam with kids if you are there on a Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday. I recommend going to Ledo's or ordering from here at times that they are less busy. I did not order a mushroom pizza (thankfully because I had read in more one read that they are canned). Phew! However, I noted that the pizza I had tasted slightly on the salty side (most noticeable for the cold pizza) and was definitely too greasy. Unlike other reviews, I did not have any objections to the crust but imho the tomato sauce was a tad too bland and watery, as stated in quite a few other reviews. All other toppings we had (pepporoni, green olives, green peppers) were average. Moreover, I noted that free refills were being offered now in the individual sizes but NOT pitchers. That's odd, especially when you consider how much ice is being added to both the Pizza Hut-style cups and pitchers. As aforementioned in other reviews, it is definitely unacceptable that not ALL refills on soda are free. Lastly, hope that they get your order right the first time and within a certain amount of time otherwise you may actually have to deal with their customer service (or lack thereof). read more

This place has been making excellent thin crust pizza FOREVER. A very tasty tomato base and delicious sausage. I've been going there for at least 30 years. And I keep going and going there. One tip though. Try and restrain yourself from diving into the pizza as soon as you bring it to your table (yes, there is no waitress service....they call your number you pick it up....same with the bar). Otherwise, I guarantee you will get pizza mouth (you know that....scalding hot pizza hits the roof of your mouth....there goes the flesh). It will be hard to resist. Have a couple swigs of beer chat a little more then dive in. They also have a nice little salad bar that is reasonably priced. Sorry to report I've only ever had pizza and salad here. I left Chicago and I miss this thin crust pizza! Yeah it's greasy and loud, but so worth it. It's just slightly overpriced, but they do to go orders and deliver even late night. The crust is just right and the sauce is a little sweet without being too much. This is the kind of place you take your kids to after a soccer game! I'll be honest, I'm a little surprised at the reviews I saw on here... my fiancee and I stopped by this place while waiting to get my tire fixed next door, and there was a combination of things that built it up to the two stars I'm giving it... Canned mushrooms: This is a killer for me and likely the main reason it's getting two stars... I'm a huge advocate of fresh ingredients, as the canned mushrooms come out all wet and funny texturely IMHO. So when I get pizza, I always ask whether the mushrooms are canned or fresh. The lady at the counter said fresh, so we ordered it up with mushrooms. It was canned mushrooms. If you don't know, then say you don't know and find out. If you can't find out, just say you don't know. But to tell me they are fresh mushrooms and then to get canned? This kills me. Average crust: The crust just couldn't seem to decide if it was thin/thick or what. It was standard style pizza. Perhaps I'm being a snob, but lately I've been of the belief that the pizza crusts need to fit neatly into one of the following categories: deep dish, cracker thin, wood/brick oven. When it fails to fit one of the categories, the pizza crust just puzzles me. Toppings slide off of the top easily: What's this mean? To me, the pizza was constructed poorly. And it becomes a pain when the whole top just slides off as you attempt to pick up the pizza. No refills on soda: C'mon! You charge a buck and change for a soda from a machine, ice it up, and don't give refills? This ain't a hoity-toity restaurant... this a pizza place/bar. Soda isn't that pricey... specially from the machine. On the plus side, this is a family kind of place with arcade games in the back and lots of tables for groups of people. The people are nice, and it does have a very "home town hangout" kind of feel. It's just not my hometown. Verdict: I doubt I'll be back for pizza here. I probably should not give it 5 stars. But what do you say about a place that you have been going to since high school. I think the true test is as I have gotten older I have moved around. I have lived in the city, far west burbs, far south burbs, etc. I eat relatively healthy , so when it is time for me to indulge, I am very particular about where I eat. Covid is killing everything. I needed to NOT cook for a change. I often passed Ledo's but never stopped. Today I ordered pizza for curbside pick up. My wife and I are older so we have earned the right to be a pain in the arse, to some, simply very particular to us. So I ordered our usual thin crust pizza with sausage on half and pepperoni/onion on the other half, and well done. By golly I think I have found my new favorite pizza place. I live in Hickory so I grew up on Fasanos, and find them hard to beat, but Ledo's was remarkable. Fasanos has some tough competition here. It was definitely worth the 15 minute drive to pick it up!!! Ledo's and I have been friends since my days long ago playing softball during the summers and Ledo's was the site for at least half of the birthday parties I attended growing up. This unassuming brick building tucked next to the B & B is home a great variety of tasty food choices and I hope it will be around forever. The layout of Ledo's for the most has spent the last 20 years unchanged. Sure there have been some updates, including the removal of dueling Cruisin USA games (which I am still sore about) and new chairs. It's really hard to work with a big open room though, so aside from the booths against th walls, it's just a grab-your-own table kind of place. Honestly, I have no idea what their menu looks like. I have only ever had 4 different items from there, so I'll write about those. The mozzorella sticks are the kind that are big and kinda flat, good flavor with a little bit of Itallian spice on the outside. The garlic bread is pretty much French bread with butter and garlic drenched on and a little tough. The fried shrimp basket is the kind of menu item girls write about in their diary and boys bring home to mom. The shrimp are big, tail-on, and fried with a bizzare half bbq half cocktail sauce. The sauce is indeed the boss in this case and those shrimp made an appearance at every family party we ever hosted and always went like hotcakes. Ah the pizza. A real Ledo's Pizza pizza is big, flat, thin-crusted and looks like someone accidentaly spilled oil all over it. In fact if you hold the whole pizza up at just the right angle im pretty sure the toppings and cheese will all slide off in one solid peice. That being said, however tasty and refreshing, this pizza is not for the individual concerned with his or her arteries. As I don't indulge in this gem of a pizza often, my cholesterol and I put our differences aside to become one with quite possibly the most amazing circle of food to come out of Countryside. read more

My favorite local pizza place!! They serve such delicious hot, fresh pizzas that have quality ingredients on them. They will cost you a little more than the chain competitors, but there is nothing like it, in my opinion. It's been our family tradition to order here on Christmas Eve, so it's a really big deal when we get the pizza home! I've been told I have a "hollow leg" for pizza, and can definitely put away a lot of this. Sauce has a good balance, not overly sweet. Cheese is gooey, but a little greasy (makes it better), and they don't skimp on toppings for whatever you order. Dining in is fun too. Their salad bar is a little sad looking, only with ice berg lettuce, but there are a decent amount of toppings for salad. I skip it every time. They have a bar, and arcade games to keep the kids occupied. They announce your order over the microphone when ready, so keep an ear open. Pizzas do take some time, but at least you know its not something that was sitting around until you ordered it! Pizza bread, mozzarella sticks are pretty good too. They have all sorts of other Italian dishes and sandwiches too that sound good, but I always just go for the pizza. This place stays in the heart of those who are local, and commands loyalty. Since Ledo's is a local favorite of a few friends of mine we've ordered from there more than a few times with decent results. Ledo's thin crust pizza is quite the unique dish. Unlike crummy pizza chains it has a smooth consistency and appropriately tame taste. My favorite topping combo, sausage and giardiniera, is accompanied by plenty of other typical toppings. Here's where Ledo's lacks though: the abundance of grease in all their pie and nearly all their appetizers is well beyond that of even Pizza Hut. Just didn't do it for me. First, I was told it was going to be 45-50 minutes for a 12" thin crust to eat there because they were very busy and we probably should get an appetizer. We chose not to, and low and behold the pizza was ready in 25 minutes. It was simply so so and would not be back. The crust was kind of flimsy on bottom, the sauce had no kick, and the veggie ingredients didn't do anything for us as others have mentioned as well. If I could give a 1/2 star I would. I came here with my family for my grandma's birthday. The appetizers were amazing, but that was the only thing. After that everything went downhill. An hour had passed and we still didn't get our pizzas. So we went up to the counter and were told it would be out shortly. They said that if the pizza has meat on it it takes longer. Okay? But it's been an hour. After 30 more minutes passed we still didn't get our food and when we went up to the counter, they said 5 more minutes. Finally, we got our pizza. But big surprise (not really at this point) the pizza had a LONG PIECE OF HAIR under the cheese. It was absolutely disgusting! So we sent it back and again waited. At this point we have been here for 2 1/2 hours! And every-time we went to the counter to ask what is going on? The answer was: "The cooks won't tell me anything." Well why not?? Shouldn't you be communicating with each other? Why has everyone else gotten their food but not us? Even the manager wouldn't give us an answer! So we got a 50% refund. But as we were leaving we saw a family that came in about the same time as us, at the counter asking where their food was at. The manager came out and told that family that the cooks "dropped their pizza." At this point the gentleman from the other family was very mad. He raised his voice and told him, "Really? They dropped my pizza?! Okay that's it I'm done waiting, just give me my money back." And what does the manager reply with? "Sir if you continue to yell we are going to kick you out!" YOU'RE GOING TO KICK HIM OUT?? HE WANTS TO LEAVE!! Give him his money back! Overall, absolutely horrible. I think that they can't function well and that they forget about orders. No one communicates with each other. And it's like they don't even care that people have been waiting there for their food! Have been going here since the late 70's early 80's. Not a thin cracker crust not a thick heavy crust just thick enough to make two meals out of Yum. Ledo's was a regular stop when the kids were young and we were coming home from that direction, they still talk about it 20 yrs+ later. Same great tasting pizza I recall from decades ago. This place sucks. My wife has been ordering pizzas from Lido's for delivery over 20 years. I've never been enthralled by their pizza, but it's what she grew up with. In recent years, we've noticed that both the quality and service have declined greatly. Whatever delivery time the person on the phone gives you is a pipe dream. Tonight, the delivery time quoted was 1 hour and turned out to be 2 1/2 hours, and that seems to be the norm. On top of that, it was the wrong pizza. The driver apologized, which was nice, but it wasn't his fault. We just sucked it up and ate it. The entire operation is screwed up beyond repair. After 20 years, we're done. Never again. I was recently in Chicago for Lollapalooza with my girlfriend and we stayed at the Best Western near by. We often came back to our hotel very late at night (not much stays open past 10pm in the area, eh?) and Ledo's was our only option for late night delivery since we didn't have a car. Girlfriend got the meatball sub and I got a medium thin crust pizza with tomato and mushroom. It was all delivered to our hotel room within 45 minutes or so. Not bad. The sub was delicious! SUCH good meatballs and sauce. Mmmm. I only was able to have a bite since she ate it so fast. The pizza was amongst the best i've had. We live in Houston (Texas)-- there's not much, if any, pizza places that aren't chains like Domino's or Pizza Hut. It was nice to have small business pizza. Absolutely awesome. read more
