Obviously a hamburger! A big ass hamburger at that!
    Lynn L.

I'm not gonna lie... This hamburger was delicious! They told me how they grind their own beef from three different cuts and you can tell! Super wonderful! The cheese is rich, so just know that... But I loved it! Perfect fries as well! The ambience of the place was really welcoming as well as the staff. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking for a good burger on the island!

Came here two years ago and it was absolutely amazing. However, after coming back after two years, the food was honestly disappointing and severely lacking. The fried cauliflower was delicious! Great for sharing and still tastes as great as it used to. The rest of the food, however, was just lacking in flavor. The sweet potato bowl had huge chunks of unripe tomatoes and the cheese wasn't melted. I had to use copious amounts of salt and chalula just to eat half of it before giving up. The ambiance itself is loud and uninviting. What used to be a charming brunch spot is now almost like a morning club. The music is very loud so that everyone has to raise their voices. No comment on the service since you have to go up and order yourself (which is completely fine). It was disappointing to say the least. I'm hoping this was just a one time experience and hope others have a better shot.

We came in for brunch on a Saturday and the crowd was not too crazy which was nice. They have a few outdoor seating in the front as well as a spacious dining area inside. You can grab a menu and seat yourself. When you're ready to order, you walk up to the bar to put in your order. Don't forget to take note of your table number to let them know where you're sitting. We ordered the honey chicken biscuit, brisket hash, and eggs benedict. The brisket hash dish was rich and filling. It had a good amount of meat and was flavorful. The honey chicken biscuit was also nice. The biscuit was moist and the chicken was fried perfectly. We didn't like that the syrup ran into the fried potatoes though. The star dish was the eggs benedict. The perfectly poached eggs were plated on top of big pieces of ham that sat on top of avocado toasts. They have a variety of drinks as well. I opted for a banana cold foam matcha and it was so good. I personally wasn't too fond of the coffee drinks that I got to sample from my family members. I found the coffee too acidic, but I would definitely get the matcha latte again. Cool place to grab a nice breakfast/brunch before heading off to our cruise!

Leeland house is a chic and welcoming place nestled in the neighborhood. Everyone was friendly and welcoming upon our entry and the decor was crisp and inviting. They have an open seating and bar ordering system which some people balk at but, it was easy and more efficient than waiting for someone to come take your order. Our family of six was easily accommodated and instantly serviced with drinks. We ordered a variety of dishes and everyone left completely clean plates which anyone with kids knows is a miracle alone! The gravy for the biscuits and gravy is one of the most unique and tasty ones I have had with its andouille sausage twist. Be sure to add brisket for the true chef's kiss experience. Overall, very tasty and cool vibe place. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting Galveston.

Shrimp and grits. Best I've had in a long time.

Waffles were fabulous? Chicken was tender, waffle had a good flavor. The whipped butter/cream was the cherry on top. The fruit on my friend's waffle was quite sweet. Potatoes and scrambled eggs were on point.

There's plenty of free parking out on the street and the location is very close to a lot of nice places on the west side of the strand. We came in to get a quick bite to eat before going to our Red Light District tour and the staff was friendly and quick to have our food out. When you come in, it does feel like a nicer spot but with casual feels! As for the food, I will say that the pizza was very delicious! Crunchy on the outside with fresh ingredients! Definitely recommend this to people just want to try something different.

The food is incredible. I highly recommend the Brie app or the bacon wrapped dates. Delish! The drinks are amazing too, but they are pricey. It's bar service which I wasn't expecting for the prices or ambiance. It definitely gives bar vibes. If you haven't been, def check it out.

March 1, 2025 Ordered to go because we were next door having cocktails. Had the chicken BBQ pizza, the Texan. It was yummy $16

    Pistachio matcha latte and migas
    Sandra K.

Service was amazing. Hands down. Pistachio matcha latte was also a winner. The migas were okay. We were told it was homemade brisket which I think knowing they made it more sad. It wasn't really a stunning brisket flavor and more so just flakes of beef. There were SO MANY CHIPS in my migas. It was three layers of chips that covered the entire bottom.

One positive thing about this location is that it's far enough away from the Strand where you can avoid the parking kiosks. If you plan on coming here, you should know this is a cashless business where you place your order at the bar and they'll bring it out to you. They do have a decent list of cocktails, some mocktails, wine, but just a handful of craft beers. If you do prefer a beer, everything is canned, nothing on draft. We ordered a couple of cocktails along with the brisket hash and double smash burger. Both were what I would consider exceptional for the money. If you love a good burger, this place serves it up. When it's time to settle up, you'll head back up to the bar where that handheld device will be waiting for you with the predetermined tips. Definitely worth a revisit. 9 photos included to round out the review.

I am a busy teacher getting ready for school to start Monday, so when they said we had a lunch break today some coworkers wanted to try this place. I had them bring mine back to school for me so I can get some more work done. I chose the brunch burger (fried egg, bacon, caramelized onions, smoked Gouda pimento cheese, I think arugula and a great aioli sauce that comes with fries for $16, but I paid $3 more to get truffle fries. I cannot pass up ordering truffle fries if they are on the menu. The bun was particularly delicious too. I loved the truffle fries here - skinny like frites and a yummy truffle sauce - not too strong but flavorful! Especially for a to go meal, this was very, very good. And large portions, so I have half of everything for tomorrow now too!

Leeland house is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. As a medical student, it was the perfect place for us to get brunch or destress after a tough exam. I have a couple of favorite items on the menu. For starters, the brussel sprouts are delicious. It features a tamari glaze that leaves a nice caramelization and hides any bitterness from the brussels. For the entrees, I love the BLT sandwich and the honey chicken biscuit. Both entrees are made with extremely fresh ingredients and seasoned very well. This is a brunch place that is actually very delicious and definitely worth a try and a chip at your wallet. At Leeland, there is a semi-self serve service where you walk up and order at the bar. The interior is decorated well and is very cute for pictures.

First of all Leeland House is in a beautiful building. You know it's pretty when I am taking pics of the bathroom! On a Saturday afternoon there was a decent crowd but lots of tables to choose from. Leeland House has such a laid back vibe. We snagged a patio table which was delightful because it was a beautiful sunny day. The menu was diverse and prices were reasonable for the island. We split a smash burger which was good and the green pizza (pesto, arugula, and white cheeses with a chewy fresh crust)) which was great! I love unique pizzas. They had a decent selection of wine too. Such a great spot to eat/drink and relax on the island!

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..

Daphne at the bar was super sweet and proactive in refilling drinks and getting food out on time! Also, the portions are ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE! I've never seen anything like it in my life at a restaurant. The amount food per dollar is definitely worth it. THE MID- I've seen a lot of reviews on how the food is fantastic. This is simply not true. Whatever those people were on writing those reviews... I want some of that! Seriously though, the food tasted like frozen food (I CANT PROVE THAT), and if it's not, then at best, it is seriously bland. When calling a friend later that night, I recall touting the restaurant as "The Target Version of Applebees". It's definitely better than an Applebees or Chilis... but not by much. In short... if I was rating on food alone... 2.5-3 stars. But the atmosphere and the omnipresent Tombstone on the TV cranks this place up to a 4. I won't be back, but it was 1000% worth it to go once.

We hadn't had food from Mama Teresa's in quite some time, but last night I saw a Facebook post from them showcasing their crab claws in spicy marinara. I happen to love crab claws and this post reminded me that Mama Teresa's had some good ones. Tonight's dinner from Mama T's: spicy crab claws and shrimp in marinara and a large pizza with extra cheese, bell peppers, and black olives. We're talking about some excellent eats here. Even our car Rudy approved of the shrimp (de-sauced by his mommy, me) and devoured all the pieces that I allowed him to have. Oh, about that sauce -- it's really good! The spice is bold but there's an underlying depth of flavor that indicates someone takes sauce very seriously indeed. I'm a big fan. While I thought the crab might've been a smidge over cooked (they were still quite tasty), the shrimp were perfection. Orange tabby cats agree! The pizza got a thumbs up from my husband who approved of the quality of the ingredients. That said, he wanted a heavier hand with the toppings and a little more tang in the sauce. I enjoyed it, but both of us wanted more rise in the crust and some char. Ours was a pick up order, but next time we'll dine in. Dan noticed that their draft beer selection was better than most, and the wine choices were okay, too. My take away - visit places that you've unintentionally put on the back burner. You'll probably be very pleasantly surprised. Eat and shop locally!!
