Kind service, but way overpriced with very slow car turnover. Expect to be without a car for a while. Judging from the other reviews, they don't stick to the timeframes they give you. They also do not mention or have on their website that they charge a hefty diagnostic fee ($150 - I'm sure they change the amount when they feel like it). You'll probably run when you get the quote, so the diagnostic fee pretty much covers the parking for having your car there for so long. read more

I have a Subaru Forester and this was on my route to my office; simply for some air in my tires (a complementary service at most places). This was my second visit to this shop as my first visit was 9 months ago for a new starter and fuel pump (a 1K+ service). Lee's charged me $15 for air in the guise of a "tire inspection" which I did not ask for! If I had not been in a rush to get to the office I would have challenged and not paid for this "service"! My dad has always told me "if you're going to have nice cars you have to find a good, honest mechanic and make him your friend for life". Well, I can finally and very confidently check that off my list! I called Lee's on the recommendation of a friend after having a pretty unpleasant experience at Fletcher Jones Audi (they tried to up-sell me, put one over on me, and rip me off - even more than you'd usually expect from a dealer) so I wasn't expecting too much but I was blown away with the prompt, friendly, and incredibly professional service from start to finish at Lee's. Dealt mostly with Joe G and he made me feel heard and validated and gave me quotes right away on what I needed, broken down to make sure I understood where each charge was coming from, (no hidden fees, no gouging). I told Joe that I needed the car by Friday morning so he said even though they were really busy (I could see they were) if I brought the car in first thing they'd make sure to get it done for me right away. I brought the car in this morning at 8:15a and it was finished and ready to pick up in just over an hour. When I got there I paid, thanked them, and had my car pulled around in about 30seconds flat. There were also a few other concerns I had about possible upcoming repairs on the car that I addressed when I first went in, and they took a look at the things I wanted, informed me of an action plan for future repairs and had even already put some quotes on my invoice by the time I arrived so I would have all the info I need whenever I do finally need it. I've legitimately never had such a seamless, easy and pleasant experience at an auto-repair shop. Anyone with a nice car who wants to maintain it without paying ridiculous dealer prices and suffering those hassles should go to Lee's. You won't be disappointed. I want to give this auto shop 5 stars but I still really question the quality of my repairs. I went in for repairs on my bumper. Customer service was good and my repairs were turned around in good timing. However, ever since I got my bumper repaired anytime it gets bumped a piece of the bumper chips away. I've had the car for 8 years and this has never happened. I've lived in the city the entire time. As wonderful as the car looked when I got the repairs I'm just unclear how in a matter of 2months it looks like I got nothing repaired. I now have 3 distinct chunks gone. Like clay breaking and not a bumper which is intended to withstand minor hits. I initially went in for repairs after my car was hit and the bumper was dented. I've never seen the missing chunks in my bumper I see now. I really believe something is wrong. When I brought the car back for another look they just patched it with black paint...which did nothing but make the dings more prominent. Yes, there are beautiful cars at the shop and I may not drive a Bentley but I'm entitled to feeling like my car got the same attention. Again, customer service is good and the team is very friendly. Beware! Please do not take your car to this shop for servicing. The owner / store manager is shady and untrustworthy. I recently took my vehicle to this shop for a brake job and Lee stated that my car had a laundry list of problems. However, he didn't know that my sister brought my car in as well. When I told him that, he pulled up the car information and noticed that my car had all of that stuff done there a year earlier. To make matters worse, items in my car came up missing. When I asked him about it, he denied that the objects were in the car. I thought that I would not have to go through this unnecessary drama at a foreign car shop. AWFUL ripoff artist. I took my old MB S320 there, the bumper had been knocked off, barely any damage to the fender or any other part, only the mount for the bumper was bent but the bumper was IN TACT! I saved it, brought it in. He said to leave it with him (lee) and he'd give me an estimate. Week 1, no estimate, I called on tuesday, he said he'd get back to me. He kept saying he would just replace everything brand new, I said no, I'd just take it to MB for that, that's why I'm going to some back alley auto shop, to see if you can do it cheaper. I call back on thursday, same story, I'll get back to you. Then again on friday, he said ok he's going to search for the used part of the mount that needs to be replaced and that he would 100% call me with an estimate on monday. Week 2: Monday, no call, suprise suprise. Tuesday, I call him back (this is the 5th time I've requested an estimate) he tells me it's nearly 4,000 using used parts. Just insane, that's probably worse than the dealer, but ok, I have to respect that, that's his quote, that's what he'll do it for, fine. OK, well I'm in NYC and I'll be back on sat, I can pick it up then, he said he's closed on sat and won't reopen until tuesday for the memorial day weekend. Ok fine I'll swing by and get it then. He says he;'s going to charge me a $20/day storage fee. WHAT?! I dropped the car off for an estimate, I TOLD him I wouldn't be back for two weeks, the first of which I hounded him for a quote. Half of the second week I asked him again. Then when he gives me his ripoff price and I don't accept it you're going to charge me undisclosed fees?! Low life POS truly is. Bottom feeder. I had to have someone go up there and pick it up, and bring someone to accompany them to drive their own car just to get it out and avoid his BS fees. Another ENORMOUS hassle. I was drivng down in the South Loop area. I came across a huge pothole that came out of nowhere. I hit it very hard. It felt as though I was in a car accident. Long story short. My tire blew out & the rim was severly damaged as well. I called road service and they came out & changed my tire & put on my spare tire for my 2009 Volvo A4. I thought the man was kidding at first when he put on this tiny wheel that looked like it was a training wheel of some sort. He informed me that the tire was a temporary kind and that I should not travel over 45 miles an hour. I asked him if he knew where i could find a place that I could get a real tire for it now. He told me about Lee's and told me I could follow him there. I still do not know how I got there but after 15 minutes we were there. I was immediately greeted by a mechanic and within 10 minutes of getting there someone was sent to pick up a brand new rim that was made for my Volvo. Within 90 minutes of getting there I had a new rim & tire that matched my other tires perfectly. I was able to drive safely away on a normal tire and rim . I do admit that I am irked that my Volvo came equiped with a sub - standard spare tire. The people at Lee's said that it was normal, that they do it to save on the weight & space requirements for the spare. Yet for all the extra money that I spent on My Volvo I deserved a real spare tire. Thank you Lee's for taking care of me so quickly and smoothly read more

I have found my Chicago Mechanic... I am the proud owner of a 2004 SAAB 9-3. Living in the South Loop there is no reason to have a nice new car due given the dents and dings one gets consistently. Therefore, having a good mechanic is key. I brought my car to Lee's because of a problem with my E-Brake... They diagnosed the problem and figured out that I had a frozen brake caliper. After a day and a pretty decent price all is well with the old gal. Great staff and professional atmosphere. read more

Avoid this shop and find another one I brought my BMW here for a insurance claim job. They had my car for over 2 months+. Benny and Ming are very shady people, be warned. The day the car finished, I went to pick it up. Noticed 15+ scratches/marks along all 4 doors near the windows, also scratches on driver side fender. Some guy came out from the back of the shop with a gallon of paint and started dabbing all the scratches. I really doubt this is how a REAL shop operates.. Told them they need to fix this right, not this bad job. days later 2nd day pickup: scratches were addressed, New giant 5" deep scratch on new rear bumper.. They kept it again to fix. days later 3rd day pickup: rear bumper scratch fixed. New problems, They drilled holes into my new front bumper which I told them FIRST day and multiple times do not drill holes in the front bumper. Next, Headlights, angel eyes don't match, 3 of 4 angel eyes have different colors.. white, yellow, blueish-white. Supposed to be new? Shop doesn't want to provide receipts from where they bought it from.. They tried to blame BMW that it's coding issue, that I would need to take it to them to fix?(coding has nothing to do with the color output) this is a insurance claim job, got paid 10k+ to fix this car.. but obviously they were just trying to get the car out of the shop to not deal with it anymore. They insisted I take the car.. I told them they need to fix this problem.. days later 4th day pickup: Everything looks fine, kept it in the back in low lighting. I checked it out, take the car. Drive home, not even 15 minutes. I inspect the car in the sun light. I see 2 dents(1 passenger door, 1 passenger rear door) Called the shop said it wasn't their fault.. Hood also misaligned. Car also rattles while at idle. All this while I was in a rental car, they had my car for a EXTRA 2 weeks without notifying the insurance company. So I had to pay the extra 2 weeks of the rental car since insurance company couldn't extend due to the shop not notifying them of having the car for this long.. 1 weeks after pickup: Engine Coolant light pops up, go to shop they say it's a bad sensor.. Now the hood does not close properly, you have to slam it shut or else the passenger side hood is elevated 1 inch above the rest of the car... 2 weeks after pickup: It's summer weather. Turn A/C on, it doesn't work.. They supposely installed a NEW? A/C condenser. Told them the 2nd day of pickup to check out the A/C make sure everything works, obviously this shop doesn't check anything. 2 weeks after pickup: Engine Coolant light pops up every single time I turn on the car. Rattling still at idle. I was recommended to this shop from a family member/friend. I would suggest you look for another shop since this is how they treated my car even though they knew my family.. Your better off going to other shops that are nearby than these people.. More than likely try to scam you. read more

Decent enough, though there are better body shops in the area. Erie Lasalle even cleans your interior after, while Lee's doesn't bother. I suffered damage to the front of my car and the alignment was off. I was sure to tell them to be cognizant of that as they repaired my damage. When I picked up my car and tried to drive away, I immediately noticed that the alignment had not been fixed. This was not totally surprising, as every time I spoke with the owner, he seemed preoccupied. I wasn't pleased about having to make an extra trip out there, but they did repair the damage as well as a body shop should. read more

I'm really a fan of this shop. I started taking my Prius here because it's convenient to my office, but now I would go out of my way. They don't do unnecessary work. I asked for an oil change and the owner told me "no, you don't need it yet". I had been told by another shop that I needed new headlights (expensive bulbs) and he said "no, it's the relay". Much cheaper. I needed body work and he walked once around the car and gave me an estimate. It was right in line with other estimates that I got from other shops that I had to leave my car with to get an estimate. They always take me in, same day, no appointment and the turn around is quick. Much better prices than the dealer, and they know what my car needs. Very happy here. read more

Lee will use the cheapest parts and charge premium price. I had the brakes fixed which made noise from day one. I took the car back twice and took Lee in the car to show him the noise and he pretended he couldn't hear it! From that point on my car made noise every time I stopped. I took the car to another shop and they said that Lee used the cheap brake shoes and did not service the calipers correctly. I had to have Lee's breaks taken off and once again repaired. I will never use Lee again. He will not stand behind his shoddy work. Unbelievable! read more
