If I was able to give zero stars that's what they would get here. The most unsanitary place I've been in a long time. I ordered a 4 spicy wing meal with Mac n cheese and potato wedges to go. You go to the dining room area to wait for your food from a pick up window. You can see everything in the kitchen area through that window. Several staff members in the kitchen none of them wearing any gloves and all were handling the food with their bare hands. Best I could tell the only thing not touched by bare human hands was the Mac and cheese. The middle aged lady who ended up handing me my food touched all my wedges with her bare hands then proceeded to pick up my chicken wings and started plucking the pin feathers off the wings and then putting it back in the to go box. Needless to say that entire meal went in the trash when I got home. They also should be ashamed selling tiny pecan pies for $3 They are in my fridge so I can't speak to how they taste but at least they were prepackaged so I know that nobody touched them with their bare hands. These things probably happen more often than I care to imagine but If you are going to have a window where people can watch you in the kitchen then it's probably a good idea to wear gloves and use safe food handling practices. read more

Macaroni hits every time, however the chicken is 99% of the time undercooked and they refuse to cook it any longer even if you ask, on top of the fact they always forget your dipping sauce and that chicken is beyond underwhelming with no sauce. As this is becoming a common issue in Anderson. Kinda happy this happened because I'm gonna stop giving my hard earned money away. I work too hard for my money. Then to have someone purposely serve cold food. That's below standard. If it wasn't for customers the place would be closed. Empty. I bet if the owner was there that day the food would have been piping hot.! I've visited there 3 times from a recommendation of a friend. And my first time was Amazing! so was the 2, and 3rd. What happened to the customer is always right?? First my order isn't right when it was repeated back to me I corrected the drive through employee but still got my order wrong. I haven't been to Lee's in many years. It use to be a place that I went to often with my best friend, who has since passed away. So while I was in town, spending time with her aunt and feeling nostalgic, we decided to hit up Lee's Chicken. The dining room was closed, so we pulled in to the drive thru. There were 3 people in front of us. I don't know what they ordered, but our wait was crazy long. We weren't in a big hurry, but we were hangry by the time we finally got our food. We both ordered 3 piece strip meals and I got an ice tea. I use to absolutely LOVE Lee's tea, so I was really excited to have some and took a huge pull off mine as soon as I got it...and then almost threw up. It was SOOOO terrible. They obviously need to clean their tea tank. The chicken strips were ok, but extremely greasy. The potato wedges were yummy and so was the biscuit. I was to full to even touch my coleslaw, so I can't say how it was. You definitely get plenty of food for the nearly $9, 3 piece chicken strip meal. I do find it odd that you have to order drinks separately. They do not just come with the meals. All in all, (except for that horrid, gross tea) it was just ok. We were a little disappointed since it didn't live up to our memories. I don't think I'll go back again tho. read more

I live 25 minutes away from the restaurant. A few days ago, ordered for pickup. Drove to restaurant, picked up food, drove back home. Missing two large sides. Called restaurant. Person who packed the order apologized for the missing sides, and told us to come back in and they would provide the sides plus some chicken to make up for the trouble. Told them we couldn't come back that day, but person said they would make a note and we could come back in anytime in the next couple of weeks. Today, my wife went in to restaurant with receipt. Employee said she was not providing food, because "it doesn't work that way". My wife asked to speak with the owner and was told "she's not here". Asked when owner would be in, and employee tried to pretend she didn't know, but finally admitted she would likely be there tomorrow (Friday the 7th) I am placing this review in multiple locations. I will be calling the restaurant when the owner is there and will update this review depending on the response. And THAT, ma'am, is "how this works". ============================================= Update: Owners response on another site: "Our policy is to try to solve the issue the day of and if it can't be taken care of then we mail a card in the mail for you to use at your convenience. If everyone did this we would just give out free food whenever it suited people. I stopped by Lee's Chicken on the way home last night because I had eaten long enough ago I figured I wouldn't make it through the evening without needing a supper. One thing I remember about coming here on my last trip is at they have chicken gizzards and chicken livers so that's what I ordered, the meal that's just over $5 and you can get it 50/50, livers and gizzards. It came with two sides and both were surprisingly good. The chicken noodles I expected to be mediocre since it is a fast food restaurant but I would gladly order a meal of just chicken noodles, they were so good. The noodles were not overcooked the flavor was good and there was a surprisingly generous amount of extremely tender white meat chicken mixed in. The green beans were perfect by my standards, mushy and bacon-y just like my mother used to serve when I was a kid. I don't eat enough vegetables when I travel so at least I got a little. The fried gizzards and livers were appropriately greasy and I was only able to eat about half of them so I brought the other half back to the motel for some evening when I don't go out to eat. Thank goodness my motel has a small fridge as I hate to waste leftovers. I would like to go back and try their regular chicken if I have time while I'm in town. I asked the lady behind the counter what the difference was between the $5 + meal and the $7 + meal and she said the difference was a drink. Since I don't usually order drinks anyway I got the $5 one but then she told me they had a small senior drink for free so I got that. I got a small root beer but I think next time I will try their sweet tea. The senior free drink even includes unlimited refills so while I don't drink much I did top it off to bring back to the motel and then ended up drinking it before I fell asleep because the food had made me thirsty. Oh, and I forgot to mention the biscuit! I wasn't even expecting to get one and it was absolutely delicious, crunchy and buttery on the outside and soft and delicate on the inside. I've had biscuits from much more expensive restaurants that weren't nearly as good as the one I got here! Kudos to the restaurant for being fast to clean tables as soon as somebody leaves also, at least the evening I was there. I sat down at a booth since they weren't terribly busy and didn't even realize it needed wiping down, but a girl rushed over as soon as I sat down and immediately wiped down the table because she knew that somebody had just gotten up and left it. The drive thru & inside were packed for good reason. The fried chicken is delicious! The Mac n cheese, green beans, cole slaw and baked beans are fire! Everyone was walking out with gallons on tea. I generally don't eat in fast food establishments, but while I was siting down eating, the restaurant employees were cleaning. They were friendly. This restaurant is a gem. When you don't want the average fast food chicken, try Lee's. read more

The Anderson Lees Is terrible. You order what you want and they substitute the meal how every the want with what every piece of chicken they have. This is a great piece of chicken! I may also add that everything we ordered was first greasy and hot! We had both regular fried chickens dinner the chicken Brest strip. We ordered our food to eat there and that was a bit of a mistake as they had plenty of space but not one clean tables! I am unable to walk so this was a chance to have a bathroom break after a long day at "The Sugar Fork Crossing" Carnival. My wife Anna spent the day helping my daughter that works there, with the Annual Carnival So we ha been gone from home for a long time. We got a table cleaned off then a guy showed up and wiped the table clean for us. So I went to freshen up! I must say the restrooms were very good! I thought it would be. Like the dinning room, but not at all! Excellent. I was back to our table in 15 minuets ; ) The food was absolutely delicious ! We had so much fantastic things to share and try! We have to admit we miss their dining room, however they have a great drive thru. We've always enjoyed KFC. It was hard to get chicken anywhere else. Lee's chicken is as good or better. What's cool is they have incredible sides, but they added chicken gizzards and livers deep fried. It makes me smile because my dearly departed father would have been first in line four out of five days a week for those latter two items mentioned. Lees has the best fried chicken gizzards hands down! We stopped in and got a 3 piece meal and a large gizzards. My girlfriend loved the chicken and the sides were good too! But lets talk gizzards! Moist and tender like they were pressure cooked in Gods armpits. The batter on the gizzards tastes like KFC did when I was a kid. I have no clue how they were prepared, but they win the cook off. I went in to the Anderson location today for a carry out order. First let me ust say that their employees needs to be retrained on customer service, the cashier and the girl at the pick up window was the rudest individual ive ever had to deal with, no smile, thank you, can i get you anything else, just rude. As far as my 8 piece chicken order both my chicken leg and wing was smaller than my thumb. The restaurant and the person who fixed my order should have be embarrassed to have served me that chicken. Very disappointed. The Lee's we used to go to in KY had good portions at a good price. NOT the case here. Double the price, 3 times the wait, and half the portions. Also, they made the order wrong and we had to send it back twice even though the cashier rang ot right. I guess the kitchen workers just can't read or they don't care. What a waste of time and money.
