My friend said their gizzards are pretty good here. His lovely wife loves Lee's breading on their chicken. My first time here we went through the drive thru. Ordered the gizzards and 6 spicy chicken wings with honey mustard and some Asian sauce. Opened it right away - the gizzards were not hot and fresh, it was like they were sitting in the bin for a bit too long and luke warm, not crispy hot, I was displeased with them. And to add salt to the wound they gave us regular wings instead of spicy even though it's on the receipt and he even repeated back "spicy / hot" wings to us on the speaker. Total double downer. I wanted to go back to get new order / exchange for fresh gizzards and spicy wings but he did not want to bother. But the wings were also not piping hot yet they were still pretty good. I do like the crispy coating / breading on them. May try them again but double check your order for accuracy. We had Lee's cater a Scouting America event of about 150 people. They were local to the United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, so it was a natural choice. The serving line had those large, lidded aluminum trays filled with fried chicken strips, green beans and potatoes. All you could eat and there were seemingly tons of fried chicken ready to be served. The chicken was awful. Half of the pieces of chicken, especially the smaller ones, were brutally over-cooked and so tough that it was difficult to bite into them. The larger pieces appeared to be OK, but though more tender, were flavorless. Rather shocking, considering the rave reviews on Yelp! by many reviewers that I respect. 22 five star reviews! I gave it a three because some of the reviewers I respect raved so fluidly that my three-star rating was cautionary. AS rater's quantry, for sure. I understand that catered food might not be the same as food bought over the counter and consumed within a few minutes of being served, but I have no desire to ever patronize Lee's. We took a drive to Rock Hill to try Lee's Famous Fried Chicken. They are only doing drive thru due to Covid 19 pandemic restrictions. We were alittle overwhelmed by the menu. They have some menu items I've never seen at a fried chicken restaurant. We ordered the 7 fried pickle spears, the 12 piece of fried chicken, potato wedges and the snack order of the Spicy Jumbo Dippers. I really enjoyed the Spicy Jumbo Dippers. They are a little spicy but not too bad. My mom compared the chickens to KFC. The pickle spears could have been a little more crispy. For 10 years I didn't know there was a Lee's in this area. I grew up with a Lee's near me in Kentucky and I was delighted to find one here. I know there's a lot of fried chicken in town, but Lee's remains one of my favorites for flavor, large portions and friendly service. My husband actually prefers to come here now because the other chicken places are packed and not as friendly. So my go to used to be chicken tenders with double potato wedges. The potato wedges are legendary. They are large and taste like they are dipped in a version of the fried chicken batter. The chicken is tender with a flavorful breading. They also have roasted chicken if you are absolutely avoiding fried food. Now Lee's has adapted and added some tasty items. They also make a fried chicken sandwich in mild or spicy that rivals that other one. Nice size tender chicken in a spicy breading with a mayo and a pickle on a bun. My only criticism is my bottom bun wasn't soft. And they also have spicy dippers which are like boneless wings but huge. These were really tasty. During Covid, only the drive-thru is open. But our orders are always correct and service has been friendly. I highly recommend coming here for your fried chicken fix. read more

Been getting take out chicken dinners for 10 years. At least two to three times a month. The service and food quality has declined this year, consistently. The sides have been cool to cold. The window servers have never been repeats, constant turn over. Today was the last straw, will never return. Waited 10 to 15 minutes to place order and get to the window. They give me my two teas. Sat at window 15 more minutes, server says "We must have last your order in translation, what did you order?" 5 more minutes. They ask me to pull into a parking space as they get my order, meaning they just now started it. I ask for a refund. After about 7mins the cashier returns I advise her of the huge wedges and she replies "Those just came up He's not dropping wedges right now" I ask if the wedges I have can be cut in half and redropped she says "let me see what time he dropping new wedges". Then some guy who I assume is the manager although you couldn't tell from the unkempt hair and B O comes to the window and asks what the problem is. I attempt to repeat the issue and he starts talking loudly over me and cuts me off to advise "he doesn't have time for this they are busy (no cars in the lot or drive-thru btw) he noticed the wedges were cut bigger today but he isn't going to do anything about it because he has a catering today" In the rudest tone I've heard from any man. I was going to order different sides until he requested my current plate back at which point I decided the interaction had become far too negative with him yelling and not allowing me to complete a sentence for me to trust anything new coming out of there. I had a very bad experience that involved bugs on the counter about 15 yrs ago and didn't eat from this place again until this year under some serious coercion from a friend. First, the bad news. It took us way to long to eat here. Shame on us. Tonight was the first night my family and I ordered food from here and let me tell you, we are so happy we did. We had the 8 piece meal with cole slaw and baked beans. We also added some extras of mac n cheese, biscuits, and wedges. At the moment, I am disabled so my wife brings me a plate with Chicken, mac n cheese and wedges. My first bite was taken from a potato wedge. I simply could not stop eating them. They were the best I've ever had. So flavorful, perfectly cooked and that breading is a rock star! Then I moved on to the mac n cheese. I'm pretty particular with this, and my preffrence is thick n creamy. This was no that, but was delicious. I love all homemade mac n cheese. Then came the star of my plate, which when I started was the wedges. I bit into this chicken and was transported somewhere. Every bite I took was better than the last. In fact, it was so good, I didn't use my napkin until all my chicken was gone. I could not stop myself from eating until I knew I was finished thoroughly cleaning my bones. I've gone to this location a few times now, usually after I donate plasma and can eat fried food again. I've talked to the staff a few times and asked their opinion on items and they actually give me their own interests instead of up-selling, which that personal preference over up-sell is something I look for, it tells me that you at least care enough to think about the menu you sell and that you've experienced it for yourself. -The food is nice; I hear complaints about it being too salty or not as good as KFC, however not only dose everyone have different tastes if every fried chicken joint tasted like KFC then why would you ever go to your favorite location? I've bought food for myself and my beloved and we've both enjoyed it, both fresh from store and reheated later, which is also important in my opinion. -The Prices are fair; you get a good portion of food for the price you pay, whenever I compare food to cost ratio with other fast foods Lee's is usually ranked within the top 5 or 10 depending on the other choices. -Portions; As mentioned above the portions are good, I've found myself sometimes needing to take some home, not that they give too much but that the food is filling, delicious, and that i've bitten off more than I can chew. -Crew; The crew at first was a little quite, probably because I usually show up on slow days, but once engaging in conversation with them I'm now greeted every time with a big smile, one of those friendly ones like you actually like the person and not 'i get paid by the hour' smiles. -Service; It doesn't take long for my order to arrive, now I cannot attest to if they bring the food to your table because I usually wait at the counter for it. However I'm not left waiting long before my order in it's entirety is ready for me, and it has always been hot and fresh. Even when I myself am fumbling about causing confusion and mishaps the staff made sure that I was going to get what I wanted. -Atmosphere; The design of the establishment is quaint, I enjoy the decor and color schemes, the position of the tables and the various chicken themed puns. Overall it's not a 5 star for it's general establishment because I am a stern rater. 5 star to me is perfection not "Woohoo! As good as it gets", I will continue to visit this establishment, and even if I am given a few bad experiences in the future I will continue to visit for I believe both people and experiences can change.
