I ordered a breast and a leg 2 piece meal. They were out of the item I originally wanted to order, so I went with the 2 piece and asked for a breast and a leg. I didn't check the order which is my bad. Went home and opened the box to find 2 pathetic looking drumsticks. They were sized like a drumette you would eat at someone's wing night. They also tasted like old oil. I'm thinking they didn't have any breasts ready and didn't want to deal with it 20 minutes before closing? I don't know, just guessing. However, I didn't get my order and what I did get was substandard. I paid over 12 dollars for a biscuit, 2 sides (small sides) large diet and 2 "drumettes", essentially. Very excited to try this chicken as I've heard great things. The chicken was very crispy and had great flavor. We had 2 orders of tenders, out of the 4 tenders 3 were cooked all the way, but unfortunately 1 came out not cooked all the way with a lot of pink unlike the other tenders that were white inside. Being drive thru only, we didn't notice until after we got a good ways away from the restaurant so we just threw that one out. The honey mustard and chipotle ranch sauces were absolutely delicious as well as the potato wedges. The biscuits come with a packet of honey and some butter which was super tasty! This is probably some of the best fast food we've had! It's super tasty! (Depending on what you get) PROs: Nice variety, good prices, the chicken is juicy and crunchy, the potato wedges are SO good and the the biscuit is perfect when paired with butter and honey! (Just don't forget to ask for butter& honey!!!!) I love that they have a drive-they along with an eat in area. CONs: the red beans & rice recipe has changed and to be honest it's not good! Neither is the mac&cheese, Customer service could use some improvements! Honey/Butter should be offered especially if your meal comes with a biscuit. My wife and I were in Sandusky and decided to go to Lees to see if the chicken was as good as it was when we were dating 20 years ago. The service was friendly and the chicken was nice big pieces which was hot and delicious. I hadn't been to a Lee's in about 20 years when I was 6. We moved from Nashville to Phoenix which didn't have any Lee's but when we returned to Nashville those were all closed. So I was very excited to see this one while we were traveling. I was the one who most wanted to go to Lee's because I always loved their Reds Beans and Rice but I turned out to be the one most disappointed. Lee's has changed the recipe and now adds chopped up jalapenos to the dish which they did not before; it was never hot and now it is. I also remember that there were chunks of sausage too and they no longer put that in. Otherwise it still tastes somewhat the same just too hot for my liking. Everyone was happy with their chicken. I always thought it was a bit similar to KFC and found out that the man who started Lee's back in the 60s was Col Sanders' nephew so there you go. The prices were reasonable and the man and lady working there were very friendly and helpful. I just have to take a star away because of the change in the Red Beans and Rice recipe but that isn't this individual store's fault I'm sure, it must have been a corporate decision. When we got a to-go bag it states there are Lee's in Tennessee and Arizona. I was surprised to see that and checked the website. For Tennessee, It does show some Lee's scattered here and there but none in the Nashville area. It didn't show any for Arizona so those must've closed too. I got the mixed 2-piece with green beans and coleslaw with a biscuit. My chicken was great, juicy and delicious. The green beans were hot and good. The coleslaw was creamy, just the way I like it. I've been wanting to try this the last few times we were in Sandusky. We finally had a chance to this past time. What can I say about it. The staff (at lunch at least) was really friendly. We went on a Tuesday, and we got a four piece meal, 2 chicken strip meals, and 2 drinks for less than $20 on their Tuesday special. Overall, I'd say the chicken is about on par with KFC. The strips are a bit better than KFC. It's less breading and more juicy chicken with the right amount of flavor. The sides were comparable to KFC. The only advantage KFC has is their gravy is the best. Lee's is fine, but it can't compare to KFC gravy, but what gravy can, so I can't knock them for that. The interior is very dated. I don't really care about that, it looks like most fast food places did 10 years ago before they all started to get updated. All in all, if there were a Lee's and KFC right beside each other, I think I'd pick Lee's just for the chicken strips. They win me over over everything else. read more
