I'm not sure who actually enjoys this food, it's the blandest Chinese food I've ever tasted. We ordered takeout about a week ago, and my family is still reminiscing on how horrible the food was. An $80 meal for 4 people and we ended up tossing the leftovers because none of us could stomach it. We ordered fried wontons, and ended up getting empty shells (not sure who eats it like that). The sauce for the sweet and sour pork and the general chicken was the same color and consistency (a murky brown) and tasted the same, which I've never had sweet and sour sauce be without flavor and the same taste as a General sauce. Anyways, do yourself a favor Hunan Pearl (in Lake Oswego). A little pricey, but so worth it. read more

Ordered takeout for Christmas dinner. There was a cockroach cooked in with the sweet and sour chicken, and the fried shrimp was not deveined. The food I had before finding that little something extra was ok. Pretty average Chinese-American. Everything is deep fried. I don't think I will go back or would recommend it to anyone. I understand things happen but there are way too many good options for food in this town to bother after finding roaches in not just the restaurant but the actual food. We came here for Christmas Eve dinner as we started this tradition in Columbus Ohio. Being new to the area, we defaulted to the locals and asked for recommendations. So many people from Sherwood recommended this place, so we made reservations at 6:30. We arrived on time and a table was ready. It was super crowded, service was slow (due to low staff on hand) and we waited 1:15 for our food...BUT... it was SO worth it. Heck, we would have waited another hour! Lee's Kitchen has hands down the best chinese food that we have ever had. The family dinner is the way to go for sure (had Szechuan dinner)...but you will have left overs. Me and a few friends just finished eating here. They have an extremely small and limited menu. The food was cheap, and the flavor reflected the pricing. I would not recommend eating here. The sweet and sour chicken reminded me of chicken nuggets with maple syrup poured over it. The waitress was nice, and their pork fried rice was just barely edible. read more

I had a bad experience in the food i recieved for lunch. first off paying 20 dollars you would expect better, so my pork fried rice had no pork in it or anything else. No carrots in the vegetables, no chow mein just some slimmy stuff not sure what that was, Overall the food tasted old. After reading yelp reviews and being referred to this place by a friend my boyfriend and I gave this place a shot. We were very disappointed! :( The food was just nasty. Neither of us could eat it. Sadly we both left hungry and had to stop for fast food instead. I gave them 2 stars because at least the staff was very friendly. Sesame Chicken can be very different from one Chinese restaurant to another. Lee's Kitchen Sesame chicken is similar to Fried shrimp but the batter is a bit different and it has sesame seeds sprinkled on the outside. If you enjoy chicken strips, these simply can not be beat! When I get to go and come back home my wife often complains that we did not seem to get a full order of Sesame Chicken. This is a really good family place with great food, nice people and reasonable prices. I've been here often, both for lunch and dinner, and everybody I've ever brought with me loved the place as much as I did. I've had chinese food all over Portland, but this is where I keep coming back to. They just remodeled the restaurant portion this summer, so the dinginess mentioned elsewhere is now history. Placed an order to go and was told 15 minutes. Showed up on time but they didn't start my food till I showed up. Lily was super rude to my friend and myself because we asked if they waited to start orders to go until they are paid for. My friend asked to talk to a manager and was told by Lily no managers are here and don't ever show up. IF we had a problem we needed to talk to her. Well our problem was her (Lily) attitude towards us. Food was good but if you cant get good customer services it makes everything awful. I will never go back to this place because of the way we were treated by Lily. read more

Absolutely the worst food I've ever tasted. Came here with a few friends on 4th of July weekend and ordered pretty basic things for a quick lunch. Food was barely edible. My friends didn't like it and wanted to replace it. Instead of replacing it they insisted we pay for the meal they did not like and then order a replacement meal. Some guy who they said was the manager told us that we were waisting their food and to not come back. I don't believe it was a minority thing. I just think they all thought we were little high school kids trying to scam out of a meal which was not the case because we are all active military and don't need to steal. The food is above average. However I would have rated it at least a 4 star if it wasn't for the rude hostess. She needs to be friendlier and to make the customer feel more welcome. I have been there a few times The times where this particular hostess- waitress was working she was grumpy and not very nice. Not off to a great start. We ordered potstickers as an appetizer. They were inedible. The dough was too thick and not cooked through. They are huge, so there was a lot of dough. Entrees came and it did not get better. Absolutely zero flavor in anything we ordered. This place could benefit from some MSG. Edible, but extremely disappointing. Delicious and generous portions! Chow mein and Generals chicken were a hit -- loved that the chow mein had lots of meat in there.

The best part of this experience was the phone was answered and a person took the order. It was all downhill from there! We were told to pick up said phone order in 25 min. We drove to the restaurant as instructed only to be ignored by the host and wait staff (three others were also totally ignored). The staff was hiding out in the kitchen rather than acknowledging the clients. Finally got the order only to have luke warm soup, under cooked pot stickers and General's chicken that was like sweet and sour chicken with peppers added to make it distinctive from sweet and sour. The order even had pineapple in it! All the food was barely warm and we live less than 5 min from the restaurant. Never again for this place and will not recommend to anyone. Absolutely LOVE the food here. Probably the best Chinese food around. Only one problem... their service is very bad. Most of the time the waitresses don't come around to fill up our waters or check on our table much at all, and this is while the restaurant isn't very busy. Been to this place about 3 times this year (2010). Jan;, April and Jun. Always eat in the Bar. Its clean, non-smoking, has TV going, some video poker, etc. machines. and they have Kareoke on Sat. eves. Although I've never watched or done Kareoke - so don't know. I guess they have a non-bar part of the restaurant, but I like their bar. Booth's, small little bar, wood-grain paneling -- kind of '70's but not in an "old" dingy way. Nice, and open; good music playing too. So, the drinks are good, and the waitress remembered us -- even though we've only been in there 3 times. Must have been because I order a lot of drinks! Potstickers -- good and warm -- not too doughy. Fried Rice-- with all the stuff in it, good. Scallops with water chestnuts and snow peas -- Good; fresh scallops - no fishy taste, or odor, lots of snow peas and large servings. All of this was $23.00. 3 corona's was another $10 (there were two of us). It a decent, neighborhood place, and if you're a blazer fan - they do show the games during the season. Last Saturday they had some weird TV show on -- but it didn't matter, it was fun to watch. Again, I left before the Kareoke started -- just wanted to mention that they have it. And no Blazer's on -- been awhile since the Blazers were on TV in June. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant practically since birth. I had to finally come to the realization after my last visit that despite the nostalgia a meal here evokes, the food quality makes a return unlikely. I don't know if it has declined over the decades or if I just didn't know any better from the beginning, but the older and wiser more objective me is no longer in love with fare served up on their combination platters or anything else for the matter. You may be better off eating out of a can, or hell they may be serving you from a can, but one thing I do know is you would be better off eating frozen Chinese food from Trader Joes or Costco. read more

A good place to go for a quick and cheap lunch. The food is consistent and pretty good. It is pretty Americanized food but it is exactly what you expect. Nothing outstanding nothing bad, oh wait their fortune cookies are the best tasting fortune cookie I have ever had, so I guess they have that. read more

We came here by pure chance, just passing through. The place doesn't look like much but wait until you taste the food. Yes, its a bit on the fried side, but tastes amazing. One of the things we tried was mandarin duck. Very unusual rolled duck with nuts and the meat is melt in your mouth. Kung pao chicken and orange beef were great as well, as was wanton soup. Just remember...portions are huge. We ate lots and took loads with us. If we are ever that way again, we will certainly stop by. read more

Everyone has their favorites dishes at any restaurant. I don't love every thing I have had here, but I am figuring out what are my favs. Just because a dish does not appeal to you, does not make it "bad." I like Lees.
