Surprised I haven't reviewed it yet! I've eaten here about 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months. I love it! I have to eat gluten and dairy free and they are very accommodating. My faves are the spinach and pork soup and mu-Shu Chicken, which I have with rice instead of pancakes. It is on the pricier side, being in LO, but it's nice not having to drive all the way to Oregon City for good DF/GF Chinese food (Golden Taste--huge portions!). At pick up, we were met with a rude and dismissive employee; told our order must have gone to a different restaurant, its not here, only to learn eventually, it was there and ready. Additionally, the main course leaked through the container filling the bag with sauce, and they didn't double bag as requested (per prompts from on-line ordering for special requests. Tonight was the first time ordering from this restaurant and I have to say, it was great! Chicken Fried Rice was perfect; Bbq Pork was tender and fully bbq marinated; Chicken Teriyaki was moist and lots of veggies; and the Mango Prawns were incredible. Everything tasted FRESH. The green onions in the fried rice were crisp; the carrots in the Mango Prawns tasted like I just peeled and cut them at home. I'm suprised and wow'd with our experience. 3.5* for great lunch while running errands in the area, first time in, and return visit penciled! Kung Pao chicken $10.50 had better marinade and stir fry 'wok hei' smokiness flavor, than the more generic brown sauce of the Hunan Chicken & Shrimp $11.25. Latter had more veggies, big plus for me, and surprise treat were some white stalks of bok choy, bright snappy green snow peas, baby corns, and water chestnuts for extra pleasing crunch. Both had ample protein and at lunch complimentary soup, egg flower or hot & sour. Hot & Sour was nice balance of vinegar for sour & spicy hot. Definitely an elevated Lunch menu & experience, with Beef Tomato Curry, Szechuan Lamb, and Brown Rice options although the rice upgrade at a rather steep $3.50 add-on, & a nice option for dining on an upper or lower level in the dining room. Plenty of tables and booths with a private banquet room and 2nd dining room for overflow past the bar, yes a full bar, but no upsell without either a separate cocktail/bar menu or server asking if you want any ABV, rather just a visual presence of a bar, so ask the server what they can make you, or more likely a well call drink. Nevertheless a big plus for eating Chinese out, as many are dry. I'd love to see a few outdoor tables and a patio heater on the nice built-in covered sidewalk entrance out front. Hang a few inviting lanterns for patrons new like us & old, who can be tempted out of the prolonged Covid variant-induced fear of dining in and bump up the lunch traffic--only 1 other table was occupied during lunch. & On Another Note: True, the iconic family Chinese restaurant throughout US communities are disappearing as the next generation of torch bearers are instead urged to aspire to climb the social & professional ladder, over the slog and daily demands of life around the kitchen. So please embrace the often funky and old school decor, SK is more on the mid century spectrum, and experience the traditional and true Family Style meal while these restaurants are still around, where 'Sharing Plates' truly meant that; with enough on the plate for the family to share. Somehow with yuppified decor, whether Chinese food or not, 'family style' was hacked now meaning small plates with mini portions, and the need to order 2-3 plates of the same item in order to get a shot at a bite; I still don't get it. I have been dining at Szechuan kitchen on and off for probably 25 years. I had not had their food in sometime We ordered takeout last week. I'm not a regular poster either, but that meal was really good! The Kung pow chicken was fresh And yummy. The pork fried rice was perfect, and the sautéed garlic spinach was some of the best I've ever had...and I can cook! I'm not much of a potsticker fan, so I ordered them for my friend, but I have to say, those were also some of the best I've had! Excellent work Szechuan kitchen! read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday. We had the house special soup for two. It was amazing with plenty amounts of veggies and meat. I put a little bit a spicy sauce which is available upon request. They seemed a bit understaffed but are service was up to par considering. The ambiance is very cozy and typical quiet. We have gone here for YRS - my entire family. They are in Lake Oswego, OR an and I live 35 mins away and I literally drive here JUST for their food. We even had a small wedding in our family a couple yrs ago and THIS is the place they wanted to go with all the people who came to the wedding. Their food is 100% TOP quality. It's a family owned and operated restaurant. One of the BEST things there is the honey walnut shrimp in CREAMY sauce. I always ask for extra sauce bcuz I swear I could drink it! They have killer house fried rice, sauté green beans, pot stickers are awesome. I could go ON and on. Lemon chicken, or the good ole stand by "Sweet and sour chicken" all is awesome. I can't think of anything on the menu that is not good. They have absolutely perfected their food to a science! Man, it's making me hungry... I just ordered takeout from this restaurant. Worst Chinese food I have ever had. I have eaten in the restaurant before and enjoyed it, but it has been awhile. I ordered the salad rolls and chicken wraps. Both were very bland - REALLY no flavor. The salad rolls had only lettuce, no tofu or shrimp. The chicken lettuce wraps had crispy, somehow flavorless chicken - unlike any I have ever had. Completely flavorless. I threw half of each out. Good luck to those who eat there. Honey Walnut Shrimp: not a typical creamy / sweet sauce dish, did not like. Has broccoli and red bell peppers in it, with an almost tomato-based sauce? Treasure Trove: the only good part of the meal. Forgot to take pictures, but we found our new Chinese food place. The general tso chicken, the house special lo mein, the Kung pao chicken (if you like spicy ask for extra spicy), the appetizer chili and dumplings, the house special fried rice, and my new favorite is the 3 ingredient Mongolian!! So YUM! Would've given it five stars, but our spring rolls came with ketchup and hot mustard. So we asked for sweet-and-sour sauce instead of ketchup. I dined in at this restaurant and I really wanted to like it... the service was good and the staff were friendly. However, the food was just not good. Everything I had (hot and sour soup, salad rolls, house lo mein) was pretty bland. The salad rolls were supposed to have veggies but were basically just chopped lettuce wrapped in rice paper.
