I'm a big fan of bahn mi and taro smoothies. I ordered the meatball sandwich, the chicken nuggets, some egg rolls, my taro smoothie, and a macaroon. The food and service were what I expected. Lee's is one of my favorite lunch spots in Pasadena. I've been to the Lee's in Alhambra and Rosemead as well. When I found out there was a Lee's location in Pasadena, I was thrilled. There isn't too many reasonably priced sandwich spots near my work. Although I enjoy the Lee's in Rosemead much better due to the ambiance. The food quality at the Pasadena location is just the same. This location is a bit smaller than the other two, but on the plus side, it also has less foot traffic. If I could only read the tea leaves.... When you walk into this place and see 15 people at the tables all waiting for food, it's generally a bad sign. The second clue was watching 3 people ask for refunds because their lunch breaks had run out and they still had not received their food. The final clue was watching 4 people who placed orders after me get their orders filled just because they were being bigger dicks than anyone else in line. So come here if you have a lot of time to kill, don't mind waiting over a half hour for some sandwiches, and don't mind being served in random order unless you want to act like a complete a-hole just to get any kind of minimal service. The most infuriating part of this whole fiasco was that none of the workers bothered to tell any of the customers what the source of the delay was. No one apologized. They just kept taking orders and not filling them until people got pissed off and demanded refunds. read more

Not the best banh mi around but definitely in the immediate area where there is a dearth. There are a LOT of menu optIons. The ice coffee is good as are the smoothie options I have tried. Be warned, all of them are very sweet. They have baked snacks as well as a packaged snacks and drinks section. This place is really cheap! However, there is also a $10 credit card minimum which some may find difficult to meet. No one there speaks very good English. I have gotten blank stares and I-don't-understand-you smiles from cashiers on multiple occasions. There is plenty of seating since its never very busy. You order, pay, and receive your food as take-out so you can choose to stay or go. It usually takes 5-10 minutes for your order to be filled. I mainly come here for the sugary goodness that is their iced coffee. It's super strong, so be sure to let the ice melt and don't feel ripped off if it's not filled to the top. Once the ice melts is when the aforementioned goodness can begin. With other iced coffees, the ice melting means a watered down drink. Score one for Lee's. Other than the iced coffee expect pretty decent food at cheap prices. The bread is baked fresh, and I have yet to try anything I did not like. The sesame balls always hit the spot and the sandwiches, while pretty basic, will fill you up without draining your wallet. They should just rename this place Lee's Iced Coffee. read more

First of all, I love banh mi sandwiches. However if you wanna wait and be disappointed, come here. First off, I walked into the store and got confused on where to order since the counter was hidden behind snacks and signs. Nothing about the sandwiches until you turn sideways after walking through half the store. A bit annoying if you are waiting in line for ten minutes and still have no clue what you want to get. After the ten minute wait (mind you I was behind only one person who ordered two sandwiches), I got to order. I ordered 4 Grilled Pork Sandwiches, 4 BBQ Pork Sandwiches, 1 Pork Roll with Pate, and 20 egg rolls. It took about 30 minutes to get the order, and that was after one customer after me got their order and seven other people finished getting their order taken. Once I got home, I opened the BBQ Pork Sandwich and thought they forgot the meat. I opened the sandwich and saw a tiny little line of meat... really? They can't be serious... I opened the other sandwiches to the same result... very little meat. There is no way this dignifies as a sandwich and to top it off, they jipped me on an egg roll. WHAT?? Today was my 1st time here and it definitely wont be my last. My sandwich was delicious! I got the #6 also known as the BBQ Pork bahn mi and it really satisfied my craving! The bread was crispy and the bbq pork was sweet, although a bit dry and not nearly enough.. I wanted more pork in my sandwich! LOL - which is why its getting 4 stars instead of 5. The veggies were on point tho! Sweet crisp onion, crunchy pickled carrots, spicy jalapeño slices and fresh cilantro! Yum! To wash it down, i purchased a large thai iced tea w/boba. Sweet but not overly so..with lots of ice! Much needed on a hot hot day. Usually the bread at Lee's is very hard to chew, and the roof of my mouth is torn apart. When I had their grilled pork sandwich, I was fine. It was really good but really rich. I brought home two #11 combination sandwiches from Lee's Pasadena store this morning. After eating about one half of the sandwich my teeth was biting into a hard object. After spitting it out, it looked like a crushed rock in 3 pieces and parts of my broken molar. I called the store and the manager, Marquette, said she was baffled by my story. I was upset and called their district manager, Jame Pham who asked me to send him photos. I told them to stop serving more sandwiches until they thoroughly examine all their food and ingredients are safe. I offered to bring the remaining sandwiches back to the store but they would not comment. Does anyone know the best way to report them to the Heath Department? The sandwiches are solid and I love their chicken egg rolls. I've read some of the reviews regarding customer service, and I ran into no issues. The female cashier was super nice to me and when I asked for extra carrots/daikon in my sandwiches, she happily accommodated my request. They usually sell small containers of the pickled carrots/daikon (I'm a sucker for this - so yummy!) that I eat with anything and everything I prepare at home. Overall, any Lee's customer knows this is a quick stop. Maybe you'll sit and have one of their coffees or drinks with your sandwich, but it's a quick stop and go. I did like the place, thought it was great until today. I hadn't gone thru most of Covid, today our friend texted us that they finally had outdoor seating. I was so happy to go back until the owner, without asking, removed the shade from our table to give it to another customer who just sat down. He didn't even ask my boyfriend and I if we were done eating, which we weren't or if we still needed the shade. Instead he gave the shade to them, left us in the blaring HOT SUN and went to talk to another customer. That was F'D UP! I cannot express how much I loved my Salami sandwich. I was even more impressed that Lee's also has a variety of Vietnamese sanwiches, which made sense since it's actually Lee's Sandwiches Bahn Mi. The shop was very clean and the staff was super helpful. Not only do they have a wide variety of sandwiches, they have some killer egg rolls and lots and lots of beverages ranging from soda, smoothies, milk teas, etc. I will say this over and over, but my sandwhich was soo good because the meat was fresh and it was served on a scrumptious Croissant. I love this lee's because its the only Vietnamese deli in this area of Pasadena. Its easily accessible from my work, and relatively easy parking right in front. I usually go in the mornings or late afternoon, so there's always parking in the block in front. I usually order the #1 combination sandwich, and I'm in and out of the store in about 10minutes. I figure it's not too busy because there are tens of different restaurants within a 3 block radius, but I love banh mi so I come here. Its only $3.26 for the combo, versus other Vietnamese fusions out here in Pasadena where the banh mi sandwiches can run from 5-10 dollars. What the hey?! Mind you, since the traffic isn't too heavy, most of their food is made-to-order. Their egg rolls, vermicelli noodles (bu'n), chicken wings, etc. While other lees (located in a busier location) constantly have egg rolls and other little goodies cooked and ready to go, this one makes them as you order them. They sure are working out lots of kinks. I ordered a #1 and #14 (Pork Roll and Pate). Veggies on the side please. Came with a free coffee. Decor: C (Cafeteria like setting with large jumbo pictures) Food: If I only ate what I ordered. When I arrived home, my #14 was a grilled pork and had veggies inside. Rather dry and stale meat. The veggies were nicely marinated though. Drink: Coffee was nasty. It did not have enough liquid in the drink...dry ice drink I'd call it. It was strong, but I wouldn't even want to drink it even if it was FREE. I'm not sure why there is a line for lunch. So disappointing!! The employee was dishonest. She tried to charge me full price for the iced coffee when I specifically ordered the special with the sandwich which they advertise outside and on the menu. Called her out on it and she changed the price and she didn't even apologize. Also saw her make the drink for previous customer and she water downs the drink 1/5 top portion of cup with water. Not sure if this is normal practice throughout all Lee's sandwich branches. Unless it's the customers request, they should not water it down especially because 3/4 of the drink is already ice.
