The original location just got more crowded with the addition of Da VIEN next door Remember that you can call ahead to order to minimize waiting This place still makes a solid Vietnamese iced coffee. Love their meatballs You can get ready made rice rolls and noodle plates here There is large menu to order other plates and their classic sandwiches

Grilled beef bahn mi was packed with meat and veggies, the baguette was crunchy on the outside with a great shell. Delicious sandwich, will be back!

This is my absolute go-to whenever I'm craving banh mi. I've been coming here for years with my family and we always get the grilled beef banh mi. I personally don't like the vegetables but you can ask for it on the side. We like to call and place our order since this place is always busy. It's a small little shop with a few employees so it does that a little time to get your order prepared. Their egg rolls are also super fresh and taste amazing! It has an amazing crunch with every bite. Their grilled beef is also extremely tender and thin so every bite can be enjoyed without needing to break your jaw. Parking can be a little difficult to find if you come here during peak hours. They have a small lot in front of their store and some street parking.

This place is it for báhn mì! It's a popular mom and pop shop. They are cash only. It's not fancy or expensive. You can get a solid meal for around $10. The service is friendly and welcoming! The ambience is homey and cozy and old school vibes! The smell is nostalgic like someone's home cooking. They sell lottery tickets, traditional Vietnamese sauces and desserts. The pandan desserts are my fave! The food is delish it's fresh ingredients and the bread is so perf Plenty of free parking!

Bread was pretty stale that it crumbled sadly

CASH ONLY. What happened.. Haven't been here in about a year. And really wanted to grab one of my favorites but was so disappointed. Filling of their banh mi wasn't what was the issue. Their baguette bread was. Bread seemed old and I can't pin point what was old about it. It was pretty crumbly before I even took a bite and noticed that it was cracked in odd places, not talking about the cut down the middle they usually do. Just after 2 bites the baguette started coming apart. It was noticeably dry and seemed stale. We visited on a Wednesday late morning a little after 10am. Not sure if they just had old bread from the day before which isn't common for them since they're always busy. Or they changed their bread recipe.. It was such a bad banh mi, I might not come back after over a decade of supporting them.

One of the greatest Vietnamese sandwiches in town is Banh Mi My Tho. Vietnamese sandwiches, coffee, and a wide variety of food are all available here, and it's always packed. To avoid having to wait too long for your food, arrive early!

    #8 braised pork $7.50

3.5 stars Yelp guided me here. It's a popular small mom & pop store. Cash only. I ordered the #8 braised pork. It was ok, nothing special. I think I would prefer the sliced meat instead. They also have meatball and about 12 filling options. The unusual ingredient was crushed peanuts in the sandwich. Always check the ingredients. This is the first banh mi I've had in LA with peanuts. (I just checked the yelp store description and this store does say it's mayo dressing comes with peanuts and green onion.)

If you are looking for delicious and Juicy Banh Mi, Banh Mi My Tho is the right place to go to. There were ample parking spots. It is a Mom and Pop shop. The shop is small, basically it's a take out one. They have fresh bakeries and some grocery items. I tried also couple of them and they were delicious. The owners were very nice and friendly. I ordered a couple of banh mi to go. - Charbroiled pork sandwich -Special cold cut Ham -Steamed meat ball - vegetarian banh mi In addition to egg rolls and barbecue pork skewer. The banh mi were very juicy and savory and not expensive at all. The egg rolls were crispy from outside and juicy. My family and I enjoyed everything we ordered. The service was fast. Next time, I will call in advance to pick up the order. It's a great Banh Mi to stop by and try it.

Absolute perfection! I've tried other Vietnamese sandwich places and this one is the best. The bread is nice and fresh and the filling inside is nice and full! We also tried the skewered meatballs and they were super moist and full of flavor. A treat and well sure be back!

This is the definition of a no frills banh mi place in your neighborhood. Although the prices went up (now costs more than $5/sandwich), this cash-only spot makes me miss banh mi sandwiches. The sandwiches came out super fast, and it's great to split with friends. I got the cold cut combo, the pork, and the pork loaf (with pate) sandwiches to split. All of them tasted above average (although the #8 was a stand out for me). It's great to see the business expanding and that it wasn't too crowded when I went. There's so many banh mi gems in the SGV, and this is sure to be one of them!

Hole in the wall spot that takes cash and it's take-out only. Bring. Cash. There's one bench outside for sitting. Also has a bunch of other grocery items that makes it feel like a bodega. Had the dac biet banh mi. It slaps so good. The bread is crispy, the jalapeños are not super spicy. Great all rounder sandwich.

Banh Mi My Tho is one of them ones forreal! This spot has been serving the community since the 90's with some of the best banh mis and they definitely deserve their flowers and more! This spot is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking spots. Keep in mind that there is no seating, usually a line, and that they are cash-only before stopping by. Wifey and I pulled up for lunch and there was about a 15-20 minute wait. For their menu, they have different banh mi options to choose from along with some other dishes. We opted for the Banh Mi Dac Biet and it did not disappoint! The bread is crispy yet light and airy which compliments all the meats and veggies stuffed into the sandwich. Overall, this is an OG spot that continues to thrive for a reason! All of the staff here are friendly and work very hard. There is no doubt in my mind that this spot has the title for the best banh mi in the 626. There is a reason why this spot has over 2,000+ positive reviews! Banh Mi My Tho is Viet gang approved!

Ask the Community - Banh Mi My Tho

Does the banh mi sandwich contain peanuts in the sauce?

I don't believe that there's any peanuts in the sauce in their sandwich. The meatball or grilled pork most likely contains peanuts. You can have them removed or don't add in.

Is the meat in the banh mi served heated or is the meat at room temperature?

    heated

Can someone please verify Friday's operating times? thank you

    7am - 4pm

Says at the restaurant pick up is online order only. Where do I go to put the order in?

you should call in to place an order, that's what i did!

Are the spring rolls gluten free?

Likely yes because of the ingredients.

Do they use MSG? My friend and I are very sensitive to it

Do you eat tomatoes or Parmesan cheese? Those are LOADED with MSG

Are the banh mi here but 2 get 1 free? I'm getting mixed answers

No promotions such as buy 2 get 1 free here.

Is it still cash only even though it's covid?

    Yes

    Can you purchase the bread?

Yes, they will sell you baguettes if you like.

How is the Alhambra location observing social distancing if the customer portion is standing room only and quite small?

They're only allowing one customer to enter at a time. Everyone else has to stay in line outside.

    Do they take card?

It is cash only in the Alhambra location. The Rosemead location takes credit card.

Do they use MSG in the sandwiches?

They use cured meats, and all cured meats have natural msg.

How much for a dozen of egg rolls?

I think each egg roll is $0.50 or 0.60

When is the Rosemead location opening?

    Maybe next month, April??

Is there a mistake with the operating hours? It's said open from 6AM - 12 AM. Thanks!

Yeah. Operating hours are 7a-4p Tues-Thurs and 7a-7p Fri-Sun. No Mondays

The vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls comes with a slab of meat and a whole egg roll. The bottom are the noodles and mix of veggie and herbs. The nem nuong is sweetened charbroiled pork that is grilled. Think of a sweet meat ball. The egg rolls are super crispy and filled with meat. The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. We started with the rice cakes and pork spring rolls. The rice cakes were soft and delicate, while the spring rolls were packed with fresh vegetables and had a nice balance of textures. The Vietnamese crepe was one of my favorite dishes. The crepe itself was crispy and filled with bean sprouts, shrimp, and pork, creating a flavorful bite with plenty of crunch and freshness. The broken rice plate was another standout. The sweet and savory fish sauce soaked into the rice perfectly, and the assortment of meats was well-seasoned and flavorful. The vermicelli bowl was fresh and satisfying, featuring aromatic lemongrass pork that was beautifully charred. The pho was the highlight of the meal. The broth was rich, fragrant, and full of beef flavor. The noodles maintained a great texture, and the meats were tender. The fall-off-the-bone beef rib was especially impressive and made the bowl feel extra hearty. To finish the meal, they even provided complimentary dessert, which was a nice touch. Service was friendly, portions were generous, and there was plenty of variety on the menu. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

Worth the Parking Struggle!…read more The only downside to trying this new spot? The parking! We thought Summer Rolls in Temple City had a rough parking situation... this one somehow topped it! Around 7 PM, the plaza was absolutely packed with so many cute restaurants, so we ended up parking on the street. Thankfully, dinner made the extra walk completely worth it. We're huge Summer Rolls fans, so I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and tonight was finally the night! #36 Charbroiled Pork Shoulder with Shrimp Cake & Shredded Pork $16.50 Rating: 9/10 Let me tell you... the char on this pork was phenomenal! It had that beautiful smoky flavor that only comes from perfectly grilled meat. Huge kudos to the chef because this was honestly one of the best charbroiled pork dishes I've had. Not too much fat in it, so it was perfect. But can we also take a moment to appreciate the broken rice? I'm usually not the biggest rice dish person because most places simply serve regular steamed rice... but this broken rice? It could honestly un-break a broken heart. It was light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. It paired so perfectly with that smoky pork that I found myself finishing every last grain without even realizing it. And one more thing... BEWARE of the spicy sauté sauce! I repeat... do NOT scoop a giant spoonful onto your rice or your Bún Bò Huế like I confidently did with my 2 spoonfuls of rice since we were sharing! That thing has some serious kick! But once my taste buds recovered... wow, it hit HARD in the best way possible. It added so much depth and flavor that I kept going back for more. I've honestly never had a Vietnamese spot with a spicy sauté sauce quite like this, and it definitely hit the spot! Although it isn't your traditional cơm tấm loaded with all the usual sides, this restaurant puts a more modern spin on the dish. There may be fewer components on the plate, but every bite was packed with flavor. I'd honestly rank their charbroiled pork even above Summer Rolls, and that's saying a lot! #5 Nem Spring Rolls $14.00 Rating: 9.5/10 If you're coming here and skipping these... you're doing yourself a disservice! The spring rolls and their crack sauce are still every bit as amazing as I remember. I've been eating at the original Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa across from Rosemead High School since 2009, and it honestly makes me so happy that this family-owned business has kept the same incredible recipe all these years. Over 20 years later, they've truly mastered it, carrying the recipe into Summer Rolls & now Nem. Love this family dynamic secret. I even met the owner, Mai, during our visit. We both looked at each other and laughed because we thought the other looked familiar. Maybe it's because I've been coming to the original location since my high school days! She was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. As much as Summer Rolls has been our go-to these past few years... I think they're going to have to share the spotlight now. We'll definitely be coming back because my mission is officially to work my way through this entire menu! The service was warm and friendly, the restaurant is modern, beautiful, and spotless, and overall this was such a wonderful experience. Happy eats!
