I have to say that reading all these not very good reviews definitely left us all feeling some kind of a way before we even got there, and to say we almost cancelled the dinner here that we had been planning for months! I'm happy to report that it all couldn't have went any better! We arrived a few minutes early, got a drink at the bar, everyone was super friendly. They took us right up to our table when our last guest arrived and we had an amazing meal, staff was attentive and once the DJ got on it was a real party and everything we expected. I would like to pass along my review on Lefkes. Specifically, the extraordinary "ambassador"--the Lefkes manager--Eva who greeted our party. She greeted our party at the door, made our group feel special while making each individual feel recognized in a sea of humanity of guests. We were celebrating an office birthday party. She greeted each person with an elegance be-fitting of European royalty, with class and style. She ensured we were seated with a wonderful view of the dancing and action, while being able to enjoy our personal space. The food was to die for...she assisted the staff in serving the food and clearing our table to keep our dinner moving. When one of the people in our party requested a frappe, Eva asked one of the servers, "Dimtry" to prepare a classical Frappe. It was rich and creamy...Eva capped off our evening by having birthday pastries brought out with the flaring streamer...a memorable event from a very memorable person! thank you Eva and Lefkes! it became our Greek vacation! I really do not want to be rude dear Lefkes but lately honestly you are screwing up more and more. I used to go there with my friends from work for lunch, but I have the feeling that they have changed the chef or chefs. I can not find anymore the excellent homemade Spinach pie for lunch and neither any of the very desserts, like the chocolate mousse that I used to buy all the time. And, really Sushi in a Greek Restaurant?, you have to be kidding me. I go with my friends to Fort Lee for real Sushi with less of half of your price. read more

We went here for a friends birthday. Our reservation was at 8:30pm and we checked in on time. The host told us that someone will come take us to our table. After waiting over 30 minutes, I asked about the table and they gave it to someone else. We ended up being seated around 11pm...... Then, the owner mentioned that she will give us complimentary drinks. They gave us drinks on their own, we did not even choose what drink. The waitress mentioned that this was the drink on the house. Then someone else comes and tells us they are not complimentary and charged us for it. Also, the food took over 2 hours and it was all cold and hard. Terrible experience. Love this place! Been 2x for work events, and once for personal dinner. Not only has the food been excellent every time, but the service is wonderful. Nick, the manager, is extremely helpful and friendly. I'm vegan and the chef has always made accommodations for me with no problem (hummus, salad, vegetable pasta). New favorite spot- even during covid. Masks were worn by all staff AND there is outdoor dining with heaters. read more

This place is the place! Great atmosphere, amazing food and prices. Oysters at the bar are $1, they have a great fish display with options from all over the world. We had the moussaka croquettes to start, as well the traditional Greek salad, which were both superb, even though the salad needed some more dressing, for the main, we had Fagri fish, this Mediterranean delicacy, very hard to find. Terrible experience when I went to a bridal shower here last Sunday. One person working valet... no one to set up the shower prior to the event... lack of communication and transparency... broken floor and guest's heels constantly getting stuck in the cracks... I will not be coming here again for events and dinner as well. I am horrified by the treatment of this establishment, as communication is essential when planning an event of this nature. By no means should the bride to be have found out about last minute changes only by reaching out herself, or it would have never been communicated. read more

The quality of food and service here blew my mind! Came back twice in the first week because the food was so darn good. Meats, sauces, apps, drinks.... everything. Perfect menu. Beautiful outdoor garden area. Violet was so kind, while diligently running the place in the midst of a rainstorm. She genuinely cared to make sure everyone was taken care of. Rude staff. Made us aware of 2 hour time limit at our table and said it was mandatory that we take our coats off for coat check. I heard this place was amazing but after my experience yesterday, I will never go back. The food was bland, the lamb chops were dry and missing the chimichurri sauce. We felt rushed as staff were setting up other tables all around us, not a great environment to enjoy a meal (meal wasn't enjoyable either way). I am so happy to have this place in the area. The food is fantastic and the patio is so nice! The ambiance is great and it feels like I'm on vacation when I'm back there. I always enjoy my meals here. I was prompted to write this review because we ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Lefkes. I wasn't sure what to expect because I think it's always hard for restaurants to successfully make a take out Thanksgiving meal. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Every dish they gave us, including the turkey itself, was delicious! Everything was so flavorful and the price was really fair for all the food we got. My husband and I wanted to surprise our friends and pay for their dinner and send a bottle of champagne to their table. We called several times before someone picked up the phone. We almost thought the restaurant is not open yet. To our disappointment the manager would not allow us to pay for it unless we went there in person. We offered to sign a consent form since we live in Texas. He could not care less to help us make someone's Easter Celebration special regardless how much we tried to explain the circumstances. It leads us to believe their customer service is "non existing" since all restaurants and hotels allow payment accommodations with proper signed consent forms. There was absolutely no effort to even offer us at least to send drinks to the table and run our credit card authorization ahead of the reservation time. Perhaps the owner/s should retrain or choose their management team better. Very disappointing and disheartening. read more

The good news is the food quality is excellent. I ordered the dinner versions of both their Greek salad and spinach pie. They're versions of them compared to other Greek restaurants are elevated versions of the dishes. For example the Greek salad doesn't have lettuce and they give you a slab of feta vs. it being the typical small blocks or crumbled. The dressing was excellent. The spinach pie had quinoa and kale which was also a nice take on the dish. Ok the now the bad news. I ordered it for take out and knew that the Greek salad costed $17 and spinach pie $14. I was thinking to myself "Man I'm going to get a healthy portion size"! I look at my dishes when arriving home and I honestly thought they were the kid's meal versions. AND THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY THE DINNER VERSION!!! I probably paid twice the amount for half the food I would get at another Greek restaurant. With tax the price it came out to be $34. I'm just lucky that I used a $25 gift certificate that my job gave me. My spinach pie ended up being cold because it took awhile to sort out the gift certificate. I've attached pictures of the dishes so that you could form your own opinion. Have to say that the patio seating was well decorated and very inviting; great environment. Food was decent, but service wasn't so great. Went there this past weekend because we heard from a couple friends that we need to try it mostly because of the ambiance. Problem: manager nick wasn't the happiest person and rude to say the least. His service skills are also sub par. Asked him for drinks when we sat down and he forgot about us. And when he came back, we asked him what happened with our drink order and he says, "I told your waiter to get them, but I guess he forgot." Hmmmm ok.... Then, what really made us uncomfortable is that we heard him talking about another person (either server or manager) in a sexual way, not cool. The place gets one star for the environment and one star for food, service no stars and the manager gets negative stars. read more

Well let me tell you about Leftke's. We came, we saw, and we walked the f**k out. So we had 8pm reservations, I had both called and emailed asking to be in the main room where the party is, they say no problem. We get there at 7pm, get seats at the bar, I check in and reconfirm, they so all good, no problem at all. After I order my first dirty martini I should've seen where things were headed because the bartender makes my drink with olive oil instead of olive juice! Anyway, 8 o'clock comes, we go to get sat and they say we are so sorry but you're going to have to sit outside, but don't worry, there's heat lamps and another DJ. I kid you not, we go into basically a decorated outhouse with a few other angry couples who have also been bait & switched, and a small fella proceeds to bring over a propane tank and attaches a flamethrower to it which was like the gates of hell. Then, as a DJ, they put on a boom box from 1996 which is currently playing commercials in another language. At this point my blood is boiling so my friend goes inside, speaks to the GM, and we eventually get them to agree to sit us at 9pm. 9:30pm we finally get sat and order a drink. At 10:07pm our drinks come and they are ALL wrong. We stand up and leave. Leftke's is literally the worst dining/night out experience I've ever had, I strongly urge you to stay as far away from this place as you possibly can! read more

I would love to give this place 4 stars, but unfortunately whoever they have as a security or manager ruined it. I've been here many times and never had an issue but this past Saturday a tall bald headed man who was either security or manager was rude. First after checking in my coat with the nice lady this guy tried to make me check in my fur vest? its not a coat I didnt check it in anyways enjoyed the food as always and our waiter was great, our bill was around 400 just me and a friend and as soon as we paid our bill wasn't even a few min this bald headed guy comes up to us and tells us we need to get out to turn tables and we can go to the bar. We literally just paid our bill and we didnt even finish our last round of drinks like thats completely rude. Thats not how you should treat people. It wouldve been nice if he wouldve been like hey if you guys are finished, we have people waiting could you please let us have the table, but for you to come up and say you need to leave is crazy. We almost called our waiter to order another round of drinks and food just out of spite. someone should really check that guy. read more

This is a great new place. The parking is accessible, there is a lot of room, and the upstairs is available for parties. For appetizers we had the "Pikilia" plate, grilled octopus, and Greek salad. Everything was great, but the octopus was mildly chewy. As a main course dish, we had the lavraki fish. It was so delicious and it came with spinach rice which was also very delicious. Really wanted to try Lefkes after seeing all the beautiful pictures and positive reviews on Yelp. I was surprised to see that Open Table had many reservations open on a Friday night and eagerly made a last minute reservation for 8:45pm, driving 30 minutes over to Englewood Cliffs. Mind you, it says this restaurant closes at 11pm so I really didn't think it was a bad idea getting there before 9pm. They have complimentary valet which I like for busy restaurants, however their parking lot seemed pretty large and empty when we got there. When we got inside, the host stand was empty. We waited around trying to flag someone down but there didn't seem to be many employees. We noticed one bartender having to take care of several customers dining at the bar and make drinks for other diners at the restaurant and I finally managed to get her attention. She had the manager come over and seat us. The manager never apologized about having nobody staffed at the host stand, but said, "Last minute?", implying it was our fault we were left waiting at the front. Thought that was weird. After being steered through a bunch of unbussed tables, the manager found a clean one and had us seated. I was impressed by the atmosphere as the decor and lighting give the restaurant a real warm and cozy vibe. I thought the fresh seafood display was especially neat. Seemed a bit odd there were so many tables yet to be bussed or cleaned, but I was immediately distracted by the menu as it looked fantastic. Unfortunately once we got seated we were left waiting again. Did not get water for a while... and when we finally got waters we never got the drink I ordered. A few employees were walking around cleaning up the restaurant for close, completely ignoring us even after making eye contact. There was one waiter for the whole empty restaurant (I counted 4 tables in our area) who spent 10-minutes talking to one table. The table in front of us had been waiting with the card out for equally as long as we watched our waiter chatting away with other tables. After spending 25 minutes at Lefkes, we got up and left because it was a joke. Hadn't even ordered any food. Were we supposed to get bread because I see some reviews talking about that and we didn't..? The waiter tried to resolve the situation by saying, "I was going to give you your drink on the house" but by then my impression of this restaurant was made and no $12 drink was going to change my mind. It looks like slow and inattentive is a frequent issue brought up by customers. To the owner and manager of Lefkes, you need to seriously get it together. read more

Service gets one star Vibes and food gets 4. I would have enjoyed this place if it wasn't for their deceitful ways in trying to get people to pay for things. Be mindful of the check they give you at the end. Here is all that happened. 1. First get a check that wasn't itemized for $1700 that had 2 things listed. 2. When asked to get it itemized for my groups understanding of where $1700 came from, the waiter said that's too much work and talk to the manager. When the manager was approached, without even looking at the check to know this the waiter said "you got the wrong check" and then provided the actual check that was closer to $600. 3. Check was signed with a tip included despite the slow service on drinks and despite two things being added to the check that were claimed to be on the house because they messed up the order. 4. I checked my bank statement randomly and noticed that I was billed higher than what I actually wrote and signed. Something told me to take a picture of the receipt before I gave it to the waiter... now I'm glad I did. read more

We went last night with friends, after the state lifted restrictions back to 50% capacity. It was a super spreader event. Bar open (illegally) with no masks or social distancing. Hostess greets you with no mask. They "closed" the upstairs and packed the first floor to maintain the 50% rule (except that they made exceptions, and sat some people upstairs anyway.). Damn shame as it was one of my favorite Bergen county eateries and they handled things so well with their outdoor seating last summer and into the fall. Really disappointed. read more
