I don't know what they put in their sandwiches here, but I crave this every day of my life. I am trying to diet, but this has become my cheat place. I haven't had a bite of anything bad here but highly recommend the cheesesteak hoagie, fried pickles and snickers cheesecake. The service is also exceptional. This place is addicting! You order and pay at the counter then they bring it out to you. The service is polite but not over the top. Our sandwiches came out before out starter, but it was so delicious we didn't care! The eat in area is a bit dirty, old ceiling, carpet, etc. But again, the food is worth it. I only visit Lefty's as a last option. I'll definitely spend the extra few bucks to go elsewhere if I can. The place would have a shot IF the owners took pride in hiring or training the staff, focused on service and consistency. I may have gone there 5 times and they've have yet to get my order correct. My advice is check your order before leaving the place and make sure your sandwich has all the toppings that you actually paid for. Very disappointing place! read more

Yum! The cheesesteak, Winfrey and South Paw were amazing! The corned beef and corned beef egg rolls are a solid choice as well.

We stumbled in here on their opening day after running an errand next door. Met the owners and they're great! Used to be the breadbasket deli, now lefty's. The cheesesteaks are amazing a half! However. One day, on a different visit, I asked if the mushrooms were fresh or canned, to which either would have been a fine response, I was told fresh... they are not, they are canned. Nothing against the canned mushrooms, they have a poor texture and personally takes away from the rest of the amazing sandwich. The food is delicious, but the location is kind of dingy. They offer take out as an option, but good luck calling it in - they don't often answer the phone. About half of the times I try to get take out from them I end up having to call somewhere else that will actually take phone calls. read more

The portion size is unbeatable. If your not familiar with a true good philly cheese steak is, then you will like their sandwich. But. To me a true philly steak is not ground up meat (burger) and passed off as steak. The atmosphere was Ypsilanti at its finest. Went to Lefty's on a recent Sunday and ordered the 8" cheesesteak. I was impressed with the service! That cheesesteak came out in 5 minutes piping hot and loaded with meat!! The cheese and onions are a bit less noticeable but you can tell they are in there and make a really good compliment to the meat. Unbelievably great!!! My brother and i went here to eat tonight, amd it was fantastic. We both tried their hot dogs, and they had that old fashioned "snap" when you bite into them. Exactly the way a good hot dog should. We also tried the Reuben, which was also amazing. Unimpressed. Not a single clean table when I went in. Staff was not particularly friendly and started putting up chairs at 8:20 for a 9 p.m. closing as if to say, "Get out of here." The cheesesteak was OK, I guess, but there are many better ones in AA/Ypsilanti. I ordered an order of corn beef eggrolls and an order of cheese steak egg rolls and they were 2/$5 (total of $10). Hear me when I say it was a waste of my money. Not only were they just about smaller than the size of the dipping cup that comes with them but my dough wasn't cooked all the way thru either. I ended up just throwing them out. I also had an order of fried mushrooms which were $3.49 and I only had 7 mushrooms. My mom seemed to enjoy her chicken hoagie even though the bottom was soggy. This is my 3rd time that I have ordered my food over the phone , picked it up got home and nothing that I ordered on my cheese steak was there. Just meat and onions. They ask you to bring it back. This time they opened my food up on the front counter in front of other customers and argued with me that the correct things on there. This place is over priced and has gone down hill on quality, and the young man working there does not listen when taking orders and cuts you off every other word. I'm completely irritated, and offended. the cook even came out to tell me if I didn't like it, it's different then him making it wrong. sadly he made it wrong, re made it and still tasted awful but thankfully had the right toppings.
