I suppose I can give their pastries a shot but b'fast was none too impressive. This physical location has been home to quite a number of short-lived similar places (b'fast, lunch and baked goods). C'mon, how tough is it to, SCRAMBLE some 'scrambled eggs'? Looks like they cracked the eggs, and tried to get scramble them with a spoon. Very unhomogenized when fried. The potatoes were a complete waste of time. FRY them with some seasoning. Even salt and pepper will do. At least the ham looked like real (thin sliced) sliced ham vs. the ham 'puck' most other places serve (looking at you Julie's). So yea, $10 for 2 marginally scrambled eggs, waste of time potatoes and overtoasted toast isn't going to make me run back to this place. I was also hoping that their sandwiches were OK but we'll see if I get motivated to try them. Again, $10ish for a sandwich is more than I want to spend on any given day. Great food. Great service! My son had a baseball lesson not far from here, (at At Bat Training Center), so of course I turned to yelp to find a place to have a nice lunch. The place is small, and when we walked in after 1 PM, most of the tables were full. You stand and order your food and they bring it out to you. (it is not a full-service restaurant ) First of all, my son said the burger was the best he's had in some time. The homemade potato chips were a pleasant surprise (for HIM since I already knew about them from yelp) I had a simple BLT with french fries, but both were perfect. It's not a fancy place, but it's a place where you can get good food quickly and at a reasonable price. The service was friendly - both the young lady who took our order and the gentleman who brought out the food were helpful and all smiles. Stopped in for my second visit. Ordered the ham and cheese omelette no home fries had French fries instead and white toast and a 20 once sprite $ 13.21 . Kinda expensive. Sat down at a sticky table kinda gross. My food was delivered to my table with no fries and rare potatoes. I immediately said I asked for fries. While I was waiting for my fries I realized that the cook forgot the ham in my omelette also. That was it for me , asked for my money back and will never return. Service was extremely friendly and fast. The pastries behind the counter looked delicious but I came for a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, home fries, and a bagel. The whole meal came out so quickly that it couldn't have been cooked to order. My scrambled eggs were fine- real eggs, and not too dry. The home fries were so unseasoned they could have been a diced baked potato. Bagel tasted packaged, like Lenders. My unsweetened iced tea had a very unusual smokey flavor that at first I thought might be from a pot with some coffee left in it, but maybe that's the way it was supposed to taste? The meal had a very free-hotel-breakfast vibe. That said, the meal was quick and the service was super friendly. Next time I think I'd just go for a pastry. read more

I've been to Legend Cafe several times over the past few months. My standards for a breakfast diner are simple. Good food, good coffee, and good service for a reasonable price. Legend Cafe has all three. My only real complaint is that their home fries are a little on the bland side. It's almost as if there's no seasoning at all on them. Service and coffee, however, are fantastic! The owners are cordial, always friendly, and the food is delivered extremely quickly after ordering. I went for breakfast. I did not order the baked goods (muffins, croissants) but they looked beautiful. I got an everything bagel with my omelet but have a hunch that it was store bought which was disappointing. We ordered 2 omelets. The staff was very flexible and gave us fruit rather than home fries. I requested an egg white omelet. The cashier recommended against this saying it would be very small. As a tea drinker I was pleased with their various options of black and flavored teas. If I am in town again I would return and would be sure to try one of their pies or tarts which look as though they are made by a professional pastry chef. read more

The girls who work here are very helpful and sweet. The breakfast was just ok. Pancakes were good, homefries were too salty and blah and the omelettes were average. But the pastries they sell behind the counter were awful. I bought a variety for company we were hosting later in the day. My husband and I both agreed on how terrible they were and we tried everything from the turnover to the muffin. I grabbed Whoopi pies for my kids for later and they didn't like them. I tossed them. We were eager to try this place after seeing all the glowing reviews on Yelp and the write-up in the Boston Globe. Ordered the turkey club with fries. The fries were really good, crispy and salted with sea salt. But the sandwich was, well--quite ordinary. Would have helped if they had used real turkey and not the processed turkey meat one might find in a deli. We had everything from chorizo dates wrapped in bacon to lobster rolls...which lasted a hot minute...to chocolate mousse cake! Went with my wife and kids for breakfast on a Sunday. The place was clean and inviting. We had pancakes and French toast and I can say that the food was great. Tasted really homemade and we were happy. But was disappointing to be served little disposable cups of Smuckers Breakfast Syrup. Just high fructose corn syrup and caramel color. Real maple syrup would go a long way. Who wants to pour that stuff on such high quality pancakes? The crappy syrup and the fact that the coffee wasn't hot enough are why it loses a star, but we will definitely be back. read more

Stopped in for a quick coffee and pastry Saturday morning with the ex and the kiddo. The pleasant staff person asked what I would like. The pastry selection was limited to 2 or 3 croissants, a scone some muffins and some cookies. Not quite the pastry cornucopia I was expecting. I was torn between the chocolate croissant and the almond finally deciding on the large flaky looking almond croissant and asked for a cup of dark roast. I was informed that there was only a medium roast. Say what? Coffee shop that doesn't have a dark roast blend what's the world coming to. The alternatives were decaf and "vanilla". I think they were taken aback by my shock but I decided to get the medium roast because a good cup of coffee is better than no coffee at all. Turns out that it's also self-serve from big air pots on the side table which is OK but lacks a bit of the personal touch I think. The medium roast coffee was well medium and kind of a weak medium at that. The croissant on the other hand was acceptable and reasonably flaky but lacked any almond filling which was a disappointment and sparse on the flaked almonds. I was underwhelmed but will give them another try on the off chance that I caught them on a bad day. read more

Straight forward yummy breakfast! I had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant w/bacon. Perfect! I didn't specify the egg and it was still cooked perfectly w/plenty of runny yolk without being grossly raw. Lots of perfectly cooked bacon, which I applaud because most places serve overcooked dry bacon. My husband had the Light Legend he described as "your basic breakfast" with 2 fried eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. It was just what he wanted! Service was fast and friendly! Delicious and savory and everything you want to indulge in. We discovered this small, but excellent cafe back in October when visiting family in Acton. We are back again in January and our opinion has not changed. We had lunch. My wife had the best grilled cheese sandwich she's ever have had. I had the roast turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato and without the bread, along with fries. David the owner was more than happy to prepare my sandwich this way. For me, it makes a lighter meal, especially with the fries. For dessert, we each had one of David's unbelievable chocolate chip cookies. This are the absolute best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten. If you want a place to go for lunch with excellent sandwiches, friendly service, this is the place. read more
