I've been a 20+ year customer of Acton's Bagels Plus; my kids were raised on these bagels; I drove to get them when guests were coming. But that officially ends today. Last week, I ordered a dozen bagels to go. Bc I had to travel to Maine w/them, I asked for plastic. They wouldn't provide it saying what's best for the bagels is paper--the attitude was not helpful. Okay but I'm traveling & mixing cinnamon bagels w/onion is never good but they didn't even separate those out w/plastic as they used to. So these kids are going to argue with me over what? 3 plastic bags? Ok. Nvm. I'll fix this at home. Next I order 2 tubs of chive cream cheese. Instead of just filling the tubs normally, the worker must've gone back 5-6 times (no kidding) scraping wee bits of cream cheese off the top to get it to weigh exactly 8ozs. It took forever! So that whole experience was annoying. today, out of habit, I ordered 6 bagels to go-it's Friday w/ppl coming. You'd think they'd know ppl shop for the weekend but at 1pm no onion, no poppy left. I also ordered an everything bagel toasted w/chive cream cheese to go. And this is what put me over the top: The cream cheese was so skimpy it barely covered the bagel. This in no way would be considered a "schmear" by NY or any other standard but it was pathetic by any standard. Wth? So now, up the street is NY Bagel. Two weeks ago we tried them out. First off, it's easy bc next to Trader Joes, but it's bright & clean! None of that dingy, sketchy, tired orange Bagels Plus look. And they take cards! None of the hassle of making sure to have cash for Bagels Plus. And guess what, their bagels are just as good and they're not ridiculously skimpy on cream cheese. I was worried about Bagels Plus when NY Bagel went in but now, I don't care. Bagels Plus has changed & not for the better. I'll go to NY Bagel. It's the end of an era. read more

My wife and I's favorite bagel spot. Consistently great bagels, very reasonably priced, and an owner who knows what he's doing. The place has been around for a long time and is still doing great business, that says something. The interior is pretty simple: a few round tables with chairs to sit, and a counter with several workers behind it taking orders and ringing people up. I tend to go for their breakfast sandwiches on a cheddar bagel, it never fails. A lot of people frustrated that this place doesn't take credit cards and is a cash / check only establishment. It's funny to me because there are literally TWO signs that state this, and people are saying there is no signage. It sounds like a matter of people just not reading and noticing after they've ordered. They have an ATM in store for convenience. I can understand it being a mild inconvenience for some but it's not a very big deal. Overall, 100% recommended if you're looking for quality bagels at a very good price point! read more

MAIN THING! CASH ONLY! The bagels were DELICIOUS! Ordered a Sausage, egg & cheese on a garlic and a bacon, egg & cheese on an everything. The cheese was subbed on both for cream cheese. The chive cream cheese was delicious and the bacon scallion was good, just had big chunks of scallion (if you don't like that). The everything bagel had some anise on it which I don't personally like but if you don't mind, it's a solid bagel! The coffee was okay, got a medium hot house coffee w cream and sugar and I would probably just specify exactly how much cream and sugar you want because the coffee was not what I would have preferred for regular cream and sugar! The service was really fast and quick. The store itself has some seating but not a lot so be prepared to either take your bagel to go or find a table and send someone else to order! Bagels might be good, staff is nice, etc. Who cares when you place an elaborate order, wait for alllll your stuff to be finished, for the girl to say "sorry, cash only". Frustrating and annoying. There's no "CASH ONLY" sign on the door, telling me the person who owns this place is 1) trying to dupe me into using his ATM and paying $3 every transaction and 2) they're a fraudster who's trying to avoid paying taxes by running a cash only business. My advice: Accept credit cards, just add 5-10% to the price and make an overwhelming majority of your customers much happier read more

We stopped while passing through town as a pit stop.
