Leluia Hall is a refreshing take on the traditional surf and turf concept. The flavors are coastal with a splash of southern charm. We snagged a last minute resy the day before my birthday when we realized they were officially open for business and they truly made my day! As a gluten free foodie, I was blown away by the number of options available. Perfect setting for a date night. The Apple a Day cocktail was so expertly crafted and made me look at Mezcal through a different lens. The ceviche was fresh and fun - the sweet potatoes were a welcome addition, despite my skepticism. Everything we tasted was well plated and flavorful though our entrees (jerk duck and honey saffron chicken) were a smidge on the salty side. I knew it would be excellent--because what else would we expect from the masterminds behind such local faves as Supperland, Haberdish, & Ever Andalo--but Leluia Hall far exceeded my expectations on every front. From the inviting curbside appeal & lovely landscaping, to the downright GORGEOUS interior, epic service, and array of steak and surf options to appeal to a variety of palates, I believe that you will leave feeling a sense of joy, gratitude, & praise well aligned with the name of the establishment (Ha-Leluia! ). For my first visit, I had to try the fish sticks that I kept seeing on the Gram. With blackened cod and shrimp & lobster mousse, this elevated childhood classic did not disappoint. The Brussels Almondine--a nice detour from the balsamic & bacon variations that we more typically see--were also on point. Completely upset with the way we were treated. My girlfriend and her husband had a party for her 50th birthday in the wine room downstairs which was small but nice. When my friend and I went down to put balloons up before everyone came the waitress was there, and she seemed to have attitude from that moment on. Now, I have to say the bartenders upstairs were great! However , our waitress acted like she didn't want to be there. For instance, when I asked which potato's were better she said, I don't know. Everything was beautiful for my friend's bday party and the food was good, I was already texting my son that he needed to try it. The dinner was over and we were waiting on them to bring candles to light the cake when the manager came and told my friend and her husband that they were kicking us out, that our server didn't feel comfortable and safe waiting on us any longer. Completely shocked, we were like what??? She accused my husband of something that was inappropriate which was untrue. She wasn't even downstairs when my husband popped a ballon and a guy that was in our party took a picture of him. It was a funny picture NOTHING inappropriate at all! We were all laughing at the picture and when Stevie came back downstairs our friend showed her the picture and she went and told manager. He came and told us we had to leave without even asking what happed or anything, just said we have to leave. My friend, her husband (which is attorney) and all of us were completely shocked by what was happening. I felt so sorry for her, she was in tears. We are all business professionals and some own our on businesses and would never act inappropriately. I know I would want to know if any of my employees were treating my customers like we were treated, very unprofessional. Will never return. Leluia Hall certainly looks the part but falls short on value and execution. We are huge fans of this restaurant group and greatly enjoy their other restaurants as they each have their own unique twist to a great and delicious dining experience. In my honest opinion, beneath the polished surface that leluia hall presents, there are some significant gaps between expectation and execution. Drinks and appetizers are stylishly presented, but the appetizer portions are small, especially given their inflated price. There's a sense that garnishes are being used to fill out the plate rather than to enhance the food. Service is trying to put on a good face given the long wait to its grand opening, but it's clear the staff could use more consistent training. It seemed that their staff was either nervous or just low in confidence. When food delays occur, the fallback seems to be lemon or cucumber wedges or bite-sized "distractor" plates--not exactly the kind of proactive hospitality one expects at this level. Oddly, those lemon and lime wedges aren't even offered for water at the start, making it feel more reactive than thoughtful. Atmosphere-wise, the space is aesthetically appealing but suffers acoustically. It gets loud, and conversations echo, making it hard to settle into a comfortable evening. Also for some reason, it felt more as an upscale lunch rather than an intimate dinner experience. The lighting is very bright inside which is truly one's own personal preference. When you first walk in, it's a low lit sitting area but then immediately changes in brightness as you enter the main dining room. Compared to their sister restaurant in the area like Supperland & other upscale contenders in the CLT region, it seemed that Leluia Hall's prices run 15-30% higher across the board--without a matching bump in quality or consistency. At this price point, that matters, well at least to me. In a strange way, it feels the leluia hall concept is riding the tailcoat of Supperland. It's too similar in feel and a more unique concept could've been played better. As for the food, everything we ordered was delicious. Wasn't a huge fan of the popcorn as garnish for the masa and cheese plate. But to certainly give credit where it's due, their Jerk Duck was perfectly tender & the highlight of our dining experience. Leluia Hall certainly has potential, and with stronger kitchen execution, better staff training, and more honest pricing, it could become a standout. The building itself is incredible, I love this location. One of those places where you need to come back until you have tried everything on the menu - the food has all been lights-out so far. Favorites are the ceviche and crudo, confit chicken, and the fudge cake is insane. Staff is absolutely on point, super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. If you have been to Supperland, Ever Andalo, Haberdish, you will love this spot. Just got home from a Saturday night dinner so my thoughts are fresh: Parking - there's a slightly busted up lot diagonal and on-street parking in the neighborhood. Service/Ambiance - our waitress, Jess, was really helpful with recommendations and really friendly. We were seated upstairs, and I was sweating by halfway through dinner; there's no air flow up there, and heat rises, so I was pretty uncomfortable - like, I bailed on dessert just so we could get out of there, which is rare. Some ceiling fans would go a long way. I was also surprised at how many people were dressed super casual; based on Supperland and Bonterra, I assumed this would be a dressier casual place, but almost all the men were in shorts, and I even saw some athletic wear. Food - we started with the fried coconut shrimp, which were pretty bland. For dinner, I got the chicken - which may have been the best chicken I've ever had - and the fella got the black cod. They were both so good we couldn't decide who won! We got a side of Brussels to share, and they were almost too salty to eat. Overall, Leulia Hall was solid, but they still have a few kinks to work out. Looking forward to trying them again... and sitting downstairs. read more

Server was short with us, when I asked if the spring fever cocktail was good, all she said was "yes it's good" seemingly unwilling to sell the drink further or provide more details. My mother in law told her that she was not ready to order just yet and the server said "how about we start at this end of the table first and come to you last" instead of giving her adequate time to make a decision. We loved every menu item we tried, definitely recommend the hawaiian rolls with coconut butter. The sashimi taco was a great bite (although serving size is small), we had the sea bass entree was delicious. Overall, service was top notch, the space is beautiful, price is on the higher end for smaller portions. The food was horrible to say the least and definitely not worth the price. First they charge $3 per person to make a reservation so you would expect the food to be amazing but NOT! We went there for brunch and were so disappointed in every dish we ordered. Steak and eggs were horrible, tasteless and quite expensive. The hash browns were soaked in grease and crispy overcooked. Ugh, I was so excited that it's pains me to give 2 stars...but I'm just calling the balls and the strikes here....exactly as Leluia Hall threw them at me. My wife and I were excited to go out for our Anniversary.... we got a babysitter to ensure we could enjoy a quality dinner ($75). For the main course I ordered the $130 wagyu ribeye. The server brought out the 2 sides and my wife's Sea Bass. A minute or two later the food runner brought my wagyu ribeye to the table.....as she tried to set it down she dropped it on the floor. She was so embarrassed she ran away leaving the server to clean it up. Insane to witness this childish train wreck. The server immediately said he would get me another steak. After about 10 minutes the manager comes by saying they need about another 10 minutes for the steak to come out again. By time the steak comes out again, my wife is done with her dinner....and we are both done with our sides. So realizing I have a 16 oz steak to eat I asked the sever to bring me whatever side he could bring out immediately....so I actually had something to eat with the steak. Well as I sliced in to the steak it was completely obvious that the chef rushed it out and didn't let the steak rest before the pre-sliced it (see photo).....because of this it was bloody juicy plate and very very tough to eat. To the managers credit he did check in on the new steak and when I honestly told him and showed him the quality he immediately offered to comp it. Which is a nice gesture....but doesn't really make up that I paid for a $300 (plus tip) dinner....and literally what was suppose to be the highlight of the meal was ruined. Not to mention my wife ate alone. And that steak wasn't completely comped because the xtra $16 side I ordered due to steak being recooked I had to pay for. Outside do the main course being ruined which ruined the entire experience......a Mai Tai or cocktail in general is $20. Sides are small. Honestly feel like the owners realized people like their other restaurants.....so they'd opened this one with higher prices and serve mediocre stuff. So in the end paid for $400 (babysitter, cocktails, appetizers, dessert) for a ruined anniversary dinner. Why did I not give 1 star? In all honesty I kick myself for going here....literally every time in my life I've gone to a new restaurant I've had terrible luck like this....so giving them 2 stars as I should know better at this point than to try a new restaurant. That's on me. So a curved scaled 2 stars it is....instead do the honest 1 star they earned. Have loved visiting Supperland so we couldn't wait to try Leluia Hall - and it did not disappoint! The menu was well thought out and everything we tried was simply amazing! The taste and seasoning of each dish was spot on - I asked for salt & pepper and it sat unused as everything was perfect as is. The decor was amazing - loved the china too. The owner stopped by our table - it was just the perfect night out! We had relatives in from out of town and they felt spoiled by such a wonderful dinner. Service staff was great. My only suggestion would be a coaster for my drink - maybe something cute and retro that I could steal as a memento for a great evening. We went to Leluia's last week to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is a renovated church and it is beautiful. They did an outstanding job on the decor, etc. The wait staff was also excellent. They were extremely attentive and friendly. The food, however, was not outstanding. We had a party of eight and all of us came away thinking the food was way overpriced for the quality. The presentation of the entrees was very good. The sea bass was somewhat bland. One in our group had the scallops which were good. The wagu tomales were good but not for the price. The crispy rice tasted like rice that was under cooked. The risotto was not very good. At the end, they brought a tiny piece of cake for the birthday girl. The cake was not good at all. . At least it was complimentary. All in all, we were extremely disappointed. read more

My daughter and I had dinner here, and we were both absolutely blown away. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and just the right mix of upscale and comfortable. We had the fish sticks for an appetizer - they are so good! For entrees we ordered the ribeye and the sea bass--and let me just say, both dishes were outstanding. Beyond the food, the service was top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The menu is interesting not overly large or intimidating, but they were out of half the entrees ... so I can't really tell you how good it is, because what we coukd order was limited . Felt like we were offered leftovers and it wasn't late or Sunday night. Prices are staggering.... this puts this place in the Steak 48 ( they always have everything) $$$$ category. And the game changer.. no valet parking. Take note management, Fox and Falcon and Georges didn't have valet parking. They are closed, their competition is thriving with valet. They direct you to a gravel lot across the street. Ladies in my family don't understand why church doesn't have valet . Now, if you want a delightful evening at half the price, go to their other location Ever Andolo in NoDa. It's more casual as is the neighborhood so the ladies won't have the stilettos on. And they have everything on the menu and it's all outstanding. Lots of hype on Leluia but consensus around town seems to be, pretty but I wouldn't go back. Conclusion? If you want to overpay to be at the new place that has half it's menu, go quickly, place won't last long unless the pockets are very deep. Have the ladies wear comfortable shoes . read more

Had the privilege of visiting Leluia Hall for the first time a few weeks after they opened. The food is positively outstanding as well as the service. From the group that brought you Supperland and Haberdish, you get the same level of detail -- not only the beautiful environment of the restaurant, but in the food creations. My business partner and I were greeted at the door by Chris, one of the hosts, who expertly guided us to the reservation stand. We were greeted professionally, with the right amount of enthusiasm and courtesy, by host Sydney. And were then escorted to our table by Talia. I do appreciate being asked if we're celebrating anything special but we weren't. We really just wanted to check out the food and the restaurant. Stevie was our server and was absolutely lovely. When we asked, she gave her thoughts on menu items and asked a few more questions, including if we had any allergies, to help us zero in on what we were in the mood for. She also gave us the recommendation on wine that would work well with our order. We started with the bone marrow and shrimp which I have to say is my all-time favorite. Absolutely amazing and beautifully presented. We enjoyed Wagyu Pichanasteak and had additional questions about it. Max. one of the managers, spent time with us at our table to answer all of our questions about this amazing cut of meat. The brussels almandine is top-notch as well -- on par with the Brussels at CG (another restaurant). Lemon risotto was perfection. We finished off with the amazing cheesecake. I highly recommend the restaurant just for the amazing service by the front of house, and the incredible creations by the chefs. The interior is positively beautiful. I was really excited to try Leluia as I am a huge fan of Supperland. It wasn't bad, however Leluia is more expensive and not as good as Supperland. The prices are bordering on ridiculous ($47 for cod and $68 for NY strip with no sides) and the quality does not justify it. The menu is missing something and feels random. Overall good but the food price is high for what you get. I want to start that the service was great. From when we got out of our car they saw I was in a boot and ran out. Offered to use the ramp and met us there so I didn't have to use the stairs. Server and manager were great. They seated us immediately due to my leg even though the rest of the party was parking still. We started with the rolls, fish sticks, stracciatella, and shrimp. Fish sticks were the best. The cheese really lacked flavor. Rolls were good but I didn't love the coconut butter personally. Can't comment on the shrimp as I'm allergic. I ordered the waygu ribeye and it was good but not mind blowing for the price. Huge portion and great to share though. Husband got the sea bass and he said was average. Lemon risotto was bomb, Brussels were great too. Didn't love the onion side as it was sweet. Masa was ok but the flavors just seemed all over the place without a theme. Our friend found aluminum foil in her food, it was clear they used to cook and missed a piece. Manager was mortified and took the dinner off and offered to remake. Since it was clearly part of the cooking she wasn't concerned. We got the fudge cake which was good and smaller for two people. The salt put on the ice cream was just overpowering and too much. Small pinch of sea salt would be ok but we didn't eat the ice cream part became it was so overwhelming. Overall services was impressive. My girlfriend and I chose to have our anniversary dinner here and had high hopes. We had heard nothing but great things about this place and were super excited to try it. Boy, were we let down. We had a reservation, which we showed up ~13 minutes early for. We didn't expect to get seated that early, but given it was a Tuesday evening, we thought maybe they'd sit us 5-10 minutes early and if not, we'd get a drink at the bar. When we get there, the host tells us our table isn't ready and asks us to sit in the lounge. They made us wait the full time before seating us. I assumed we'd be walking into a completely full upstairs dining room, as the downstairs was full. Nope, a 60% full dining room with empty tables galore. So we just had to wait cause y'all felt like making us wait? This would have never been an issue, or even a 2nd thought, if the waiting hadn't continued. We sit, our waiter is cordial. We suggest drinks to which he recommends the Watermelon Hemp THC drink. Thought nothing of it until he informs us "I just had one and it is so refreshing and delicious". My girlfriend and I both took a mental note of the statement he had just made and adressed after he left. "Did he just admit he's high or did he have this drink yesterday and he just means recently?" We move on, I order a beer, my girlfriend orders a cocktail. 10 minutes go by and we put in our food order, which around that time my beer comes. I'm a gentleman, so I won't take a drink until my girlfriend has hers. Another 10 minutes go by and now my girlfriend and I are betting whether her drink shows up before or after our appetizers. Sadly, I won and her drink did not come before the appetizers. We ask the waiter where the drink is and he assures us its on the way. We finish our appetizers, still no drink. We ask the waiter a 2nd time where the drink is. He tells us it's coming out shortly. another 10 minutes goes by and we ask a 3rd time "where is the cocktail we ordered?" ~40 minutes after ordering, the cocktail shows up 8 minutes before our entrees. Since we were having steak my girlfriend wanted wine with dinner and really didn't even want the cocktail at this point. Once the drink came we got the most half-assed bs apology for what happened. "The upstairs bar is closed and our POS system was sending the cocktail tickets to the closed bar". It was 8:30pm, has this been happening all night and y'all did nothing about it? You've been open almost 6 months and you still have Night 1 type issues? Why did it take us asking 3 times for you to actually look into the issue? Anyways, they charged us full price for the drink, didn't comp anything, didn't even send the manager by to address anything. It's a JV operation for a place with a $130 steak on the menu. The only reason this got 2 stars is because the food is solid; I wanted to give them 1. However, we dropped $250 on dinner 2, which is coming out on the light end at this place, and got treated like we weren't even wanted there. I'm honestly sad to have to do this because I was so excited to try Leluia. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner and pretty much everything was a disaster from the beginning. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer which came with four big coconut battered shrimp and all of them were tragically over cooked and over chewy. I had to speak up to my waiter because he never came around to ask how they were. When I did speak up, he did graciously have them replaced with a new order, which was better but still not great. The shrimps were chewy and tough and overall the dish was simply lacking. I ordered a $25 glass of Cabernet and it had mass amounts of sediment in the bottom of the glass. I didn't mention this to him because it was still drinkable but I shouldn't expect that in such an expensive glass of wine. Next we ordered our entrees. I ordered the $85 wagyu picanha, medium rare with the $6 side of herb butter to top the steak. If you've never had a picanha before it is the king of steaks and one of my favorite cuts. It's supposed to have a nicely rendered fat cap on top that gushes flavor with every bite and with this being wagyu I thought I was in for a treat. Well the steak came out mildly warm, yet somehow also charred, so the herb butter would melt, so that was a waste of $6. The fat cap was not rendered at all making it a dense chewy piece of fat on top of a cold steak. My girlfriend got the 10oz prime filet and it was to be cooked medium. I could tell the quality of the steak itself was high but it was not properly cooked for her as it was sort charred on the outside and med rare+ on the inside. The flavor was not great to be honest, but the meat was quality. We ordered the fried mushroom side which was visually interesting, looking almost alien and it was a fried oyster mushroom cluster I think. I bit into it and it had no substance, only fry batter, was not good at all. And then we also got the potato pancake with salmon roe, which was also luke warm when it hit the table. I took one bit into with the salmon roe and almost spit it up. It taste like fish ass. In then end I'm very disappointed with the experience. At that level and cost of dining I expect a much much higher delivery even if it is still in the early days of opening. To their credit, after I complained of the picanha and the mushroom dish, they did take it off my bill, which should be expected considering neither was edible and I sent them away. After all was said and done, I still spent $200 including the tip and it's safe to say that I won't be returning. Very disappointed. read more
