This restaurant is hidden back in a courtyard area of a strip mall. We had a difficult time finding it but after we called and got directions we found it right away. We couldn't believe how many people were there before and after us. They are doing a great business. They are understaffed and the sign on the door says they will be closed on Sundays because of that. We were served quite fast. We had fried spring rolls. They had good ingredients in them, but they were pretty tasteless. I had yellow curry, and my friend had Massaman curry. My yellow curry was spicier than I wanted for mild, but my friends Massaman curry was excellent. We would say that our food was average. Have you ever had chicken that tasted old? It's usually day-after chicken leftovers - yep, I'd had them enough times to recognize the taste. That's what the chicken tasted like in my "Spicy Noodle" dish. It didn't help either that the dish was rather bland, spicy yes, but bland - esp. when compared to the flavor-rich Spicy Noodles at Siam Square. The portion was huge for a lunch special and looked more like a family-style serving. But while my main dish was disappointing, everything else that came with the lunch special was pretty good. Lunch specials come with a fried spring roll, and a choice of soup or salad. My friend & I got the salad which tasted more like a Japanese salad b/c of the ginger (vs. peanut) dressing - wasn't happy about the iceberg but the shredded red cabbage & carrots made up for it. Very fresh. My other friend liked his coconut soup - it looked good, too. The spring roll was yummy, too - liked that it had vermicelli noodles & bits of cilantro. My friends got the "Lemon Grass w/ chicken" and the "Cashew Nut w/ shrimp" - they seemed happy with their dishes. Personally I thought the dishes looked more like Chinese food but I'm no Thai expert either. The Cashew Nut dish tasted pretty good, and I thought the Lemon Grass was a little too sweet. I probably wouldn't order those dishes, just like I won't be ordering the Spicy Noodle. But you can't beat the price - $6.95 lunch specials are recession-friendly. This restaurant is hidden in a shopping center towards the back. You can't see it from the parking lot, but it's in the left corner of the shopping center. Lunch here is quite good, and a terrific value. I had the Spicy Noodle with chicken (medium spice) and it was very good. It came with a side of spring roll and a house salad. My wife got the Pud Thai with coconut soup. She was pleasantly surprised to find chicken in the soup. Typically coconut soups don't come with it. I had some and it was quite good as well. The lunch portions are pretty large, and for only $7.70 each it's such a great deal. Consider me a satisfied customer, and I will definitely be returning. read more

If your looking for a great lunch deal you will definitely leave full without much damage to your lunch budget. Possibly my favorite Thai restaurant. Used to love coming here pre-covid with my sisters for our sibling dinner outings. Food is delicious, flavorful, and portions are great! The lunch deals are probably the best time to come around to get the best bang for your buck. Though disclaimer if you order lunch special to go there will be no coconut soup only the spring roll. I overheard the owner tell another customer about how it's been hard on the business not having enough workers wanting to work in fear of the virus. We hadn't been here in about year and thought of them for lunch since it was on the way to Andretti's. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and were seated right away. The lunch specials are $7.95 and include a spring roll and choice of soup or salad. I selected the salad and was disappointed because the dressing wasn't very good. The waiter's thumb also touched an area of lettuce. For lunch, I had the lemongrass chicken and subbed out the white rice for brown for $1 extra. The food was OK, but the service was lacking. I've been going to lemongrass Thai for over 10 years, and want to say it's still my favorite Thai restaurant in the suburbs. I moved from Marietta to Dunwoody but still make the trek over anytime I'm hankering panang chicken. Their sauces are very flavorful and I was once told that they bring in their curry pastes from Thailand. Can I get in on that shipment??? I always order my food in the "hot" spice level, and have never been disappointed. My go to's are the panang curry, pad Thai, Larb and the chicken coconut soup. Grabbed a bite here with a coworker before watching a game at Mazzy's. Place was clean, service was friendly and pretty fast. Our food was pretty good though not incredible (but it was cheap for dinner). My coworker had the drunken noodles which were above average, I had the chicken fried rice which was average at best. UPDATE...Well we went back and dine-in the restaurant this time and OMG! The service we got was horrible!!! Walked in and stood there at the front for about 4 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. After being seated, the waitress kept rushing us to order and then took forever to bring out the dishes once we ordered. We waited nearly 45-50 minutes to get our food with only 3 people at our table. And she forgot one of the dishes. We had to get another waiter to go back and check on our missing dish. And when asked if I could get fried rice instead of white rice, the waitress looks at me with a blank stare and says it not possible. And I'm like...I've ordered the same dish with fried rice twice before as pickup orders without a problem...So what's the difference this time!! Because of this poor dinning experience, I decided not to leave a tip. The manager comes by and takes the signed copy of the bill before we can even leave. Then she comes back as we are walking out asking for a tip. And she had the nerve to stand there and say "When you go to restaurant, you tip!" And this is coming from the same lady we just moments ago saw sitting in the back of the dining room picking her teeth while we were eating. So I politely tell her that the lack of service given today doesn't garner a tip in my book and that the total on the bill was just fine where we left it. Lemon Grass Thai happens to be the first restaurant we tried in Georgia and we are so glad we found this place so close to where we live (hardly a couple of minutes). We have never dined here and its always been take-outs, thanks to COVID. We have enjoyed the food every time. They let you choose how spicy you want your food. The first time we tried "hot" and it just wasn't enough. We asked them else they had and they were like "well, we have Thai hot". So Thai hot it was - aaah how we love Thai hot :D Their Pad Thai comes with shrimp and chicken and its tasty. The Green curry, read curry, massaman curry with potatoes and cashews(this is my fav) are just amazing. Served with rice, they are all a must try. Their lunch menu comes with egg roles and its really good - fresh and good. The curries, you can choose between chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. We are exploring the rest of the menu but the friendly staff, quick services and decent rates makes this our to go Thai place right now. It being a couple a minutes away from home make it an added bonus. If you are are in the Marietta are and love Thai food, check out Lemon Grass and if you live hot food, ask for "Thai hot" We haven't dined in yet and so we don't know how the service is when you do, hence the 4 stars for now. read more

I'm visiting a friend and we decided to check this place out. Nobody greeted us when we walked in. We stood around for about 3 minutes before anyone tried to sit us. The restaurant was practically empty. There was a woman on the phone who did see us walk in but didn't say hello, nothing. We started talking amongst ourselves wondering if we are suppose to sit ourselves. Anyway, eventually a waiter came and sat us. PROS: The portions are big. The waiter we had was very attentive and such a sweetheart! He did the best he could! CONS: The lady that was on the phone when we walked in wasn't friendly whatsoever. She helped bring the food to our table and looked annoyed. I smiled at her and she kind of just looked at me up and down and walked away. It was her and another older lady... both were cold. My guess is, I think they are the owners / managers. 2nd con: I ordered the spicy noodle as my entrée. I asked it to be very hot (spicy), it was barely mild. Overall, the food was bland. I used to visit this place frequently but the service and food has gone downhill since the pandemic. They used to have better food and more cheerful accommodating service. I really like the soup, and was willing to give the place another chance. Big mistake. The pad thai, which I always get and has been typically great, was dry and bland. Typically the bean sprouts are on the side only, but in addition to that extra bean sprouts (in addition to what's on the side) were mixed all throughout the dish, making the already bland and dry dish worse. I asked the waitress to remake it but they initially refused, saying that this is how it always is and that the noodles soak up the sauce. I've had the dish several times here so I know what it's supposed to taste and look like. After trying to convince me there was nothing wrong with the dish, she gruffly took it back and said they would try to fix it. Unfortunately it was worse, chewy noodles swimming in a tepid sugary sauce. I understand people make mistakes. I wish they would have admitted that instead of trying to bully me into liking a poorly made dish that was different from their usual high standards. She did not even check in after to see how it was. She was gruff and curt with us when she came by. Due to their poor service I don't think I will be back any time soon. We ordered another dish (fried rice) that was bland and didn't have much meat in it. read more

This is a hidden gem! The service is simply outstanding. Warm and efficient wait staff. The food was fresh, tasty and delicious. We ordered the family meal - spring roll appetizers salad and soup plus the entree. With tax was $17 pp. the menu pricing is outdated and they need new ones but instead have signs posted that prices are 15% higher since May. It's fine. The food is so delicious it was worth it even if I missed out on the better value days. The spring tools are air light and crispy. The cashew chicken and lemon grass chicken entrees were perfect. I actually had to climb under the table in my cabin to find where I had carved my password to Yelp just to write this dish-specific review, so that tells you how important it was to me because I don't ever climb under that table unless it's to find a rum bottle or a frito chip - or are them things even called "chips"?? Anyway. Hot and Sour soup is a particular favorite dish since it reminds me of home, where I (uncoincidentally) enjoy eating Hot and Sour soup. You don't normally FIND hot and sour soup at a Thai restaurant, since it's technically perceived more as a Chinese dish, but it never hurts for a restaurant to broaden its menu to capture outliers, like famous space pirates such as myself, who (if you had not yet heard) enjoys the heck out of Hot and Sour soup. I wasn't expecting much, so I was happily surprised when I found that Lemon Grass Thai makes H&S soup using a mix of traditional ingredients like black fungus and Thai soup ingredients like mushrooms. They were sliced thin enough to have a delicate mouth feel, yet thick enough to deliver a little 'snap' as you nibbled them. Maybe they were a week old, but as someone who eats months-old supplies on a regular basis: I DUG THEM!!! Like treasure. The broth had the familiar H&S vinegar bite with a subtle nutty hint that seemed to say "Eat the entire bowl, matie!!" My Pad Woon Sen was just fine, but that soup, man - that's what this review is all about. Lemon Grass has been around for years and I have been here countless number of times with my coworkers for lunch. Nothing has ever changed about this place, from the food and service to the interior decor and the people who work here. Their $7.25 lunch special is a good deal (soup or salad, spring roll, rice, and entree) and features over a dozen items. I almost always get either their pad Thai or one of the curries (red, yellow, panang, or Massaman). Strangely enough, the Massaman curry is not on the menu. You have to ask for it. It's one of my favorites here. Out of all the Thai restaurants in Atlanta, Lemon Grass seems to have a unique taste when it comes to its curry dishes and their tom kha gai (Thai chicken coconut soup). Their tom kha gai is very sweet and milky. This is a personal preference, but I love it. I don't like tom kha gai that is thin and sour, which happens often. Also, the curry is quite aromatic here. The pad Thai is good, but not great. It's hard to find really good pad Thai in this city. Portion sizes are large and it's quite a lot of food just for lunch. We usually end up with leftovers. In the end, the dishes at Lemon Grass range from okay to good, but can get boring at times. One of the servers that works here used to work for Tasty China a while ago. She recognized me from all those early days, when Peter Chang first took over Tasty China, and my coworkers would eat there 2-3 times per week for months on end. Speaking of the restaurant's employees, I've also seen the owner of Lemon Grass eating lunch on Sunday at Thaicoon on Briarcliff. I've been going to Lemon Grass since I was a kid. A wee tot. I adore, adore, adore this place. And now that I no longer live in Marietta, my parents always make a point to treat me here whenever I'm in town. Lemon Grass, tucked into a near-forgotten section of the shopping center, across from a greasy wing joint, has symbolized my upbringing. I can see the owner's face now. She has always greeted us with cheerfulness and appreciation. It is a huge indicator why its stayed in business for so many years. Not only is the food consistently delish, the staff is always courteous and friendly. Lemon Grass was my "mom didn't cook tonight, so let's run down the street" kind of dinners, or my heart-to-heart nights with my mom, or my later date nights with boyfriends and everything in between. Its sort of my comfort food restaurant, if you will. And though there isn't much to the décor or the atmosphere, you find comfort in knowing its an honest, local, family owned restaurant and you want nothing more than for them to succeed. The three must haves on the menu: -Spring rolls (gee gaw, the peanut sauce is the JAM!). -Hot and Sour soup. I think it is suited to cure any ailment. -Pad Thai - ask them to make it spicy! I'm not saying this place is going to change your life. I'm not saying that its the best Thai food on the planet, either. But it is an East Cobb staple that you need to add to your repertoire if you haven't done so already. read more
