I shop at lenny's as often as I am in the area. The blueberry's have run as low as 99 for 6oz. YESTERDAY I was able to get nectarines and peaches for only 1.19/lb what a steal compared to other close by markets. I have one of my other friends hooked on Lenny's and my mom definitely refers to it as my food stable. I love also that they have ingera which is a difficult find in the Greenwood area. Anyways Lenny's is definitely worth walking into to check out. But the only think that is a turn off is the unfriendly look the staff has and their impersonal attitude. I almost feel bad for bothering them to ring me up. But I guess I am still a WINNER because I get to get everything I need for under ten dollars. read more

Alright, this is one of the best places to buy vegatables and fruit in Seattle. It's a tiny stand compared to the monolithic super-duper grocery stores like QFC and Safeway - but it's generally less expensive. People are friendly. Produce is less expensive and excellent quality and they have a lot of the vegatables and fruit you want. I shop at Lenny's a lot and love the produce. read more

Lenny's has great prices. Sometimes you have to look over the produce carefully to make sure that it looks good, as there can be some marginal quality produce as well as good. We have been coming here for years. We love to cook Asian food (Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Korean). They have great ingredients. The Shitake mushrooms are the best price anywhere as are the King Oyster mushrooms. Try the curry pastes and coconut creme. Don't forget the lemongrass, a single stalk is about $0.10-0.20 each. The selection varies. Look for Honeycrisp and Pacific Rose apples when they are in. read more

This is a small produce store that packs huge variety and great savings. Their selection varies but they always have the staples (potatoes, onions, lettuce, etc.) but at much lower prices than other places. They get their stuff from the same wholesalers as Costco and some other chain grocers. I've seen Lenny's carry the same stuff in the same packaging as what I see at Costco. The difference is that at Lenny's things are not presented in as pretty an environment and not much is refrigerated. But who cares when you can get vegetables and fruit at 1/3 to 1/2 off prices of chain stores! I remember times when I buy two big baskets of fruit and vegetables and got change back on a 20. Since the place is small it can sometimes get crowded but the people are amazingly friendly. I've seen customers help older customers carry bags to their cars. The cashiers will sometimes tell regulars they can pay the few cents they're short the next time they see them. And amazingly they do pay! The workers will also help people carry bags to their cars--and I've seen some people buy 12 bags of groceries! TIP: sometimes you can get specials on very ripe fruits--like bananas for 19 cents a pound. I also see some restaurants buying stuff here by the case. read more

There are many places to shop in the ferry building. My favorite place is the beekind honey stand with the honey and beeswax candles. The cowgirl creamery is also very good. They have the best cheese. read more

Unbelievably affordable produce, and while you won't find everything you'd get at a grocery store, the selection is still large and the quality is great. I try to buy produce here as often as I can. We went to Lenny's this weekend to buy fruit/veggies for the week. We kept the receipt and then drove to the QFC to finish our shopping. We walked through the produce section and wrote down all the prices so we could compare. Our Lenny's receipt was $10 for bananas, an onion, 4 necterines, box of strawberries, one cataloupe, one apple, 5 yams, and had we bought those exact same things at QFC we would have spent $20+. It was an amazing difference. Sure, they probably won't keep as long as stuff from QFC but we're planning to use all of them in recipes this week for dinners/lunches. Thumbs up on Lennys. read more

Great market for fruits and vegies. Very good prices. Also cans and bottles of new sauces and things to try. They carry fresh queso, and always have plenty of rice and asian noodles to pick from. Plus the bags of northwest nuts and dried fruits. Very good prices, always discovering a new veggie or two, quick service, free off street parking. I stop there 2-3 times a week. If you what very ripe veg that you will actually eat, you can not beat the price here. If you are planning on making a fruit and veg stock pile that will last for weeks, this is not your place. I have made veggie juicing a part of my daily diet, and this place saves me a ton of cash. read more

You cannot beat their prices for the quality and variety you get. Lots of eastern European and Asian stuff. They have a small section of groceries but it's just basic stuff--Shincup, Lee Kum Kee sauces, etc.. This place reminds me of the produce stands in Asia. There are lots of bins and boxes of stuff on display. When they run out, the grab another box or bin from the cooler in the back. The only differences between this place and one in Asia is this is cleaner but it's still about as cheap! They don't usually have organic, but that's why you wash your fruit and vegetables people. However, occasionally they'll get a bin of stuff that was rejected by Costco because it was delivered late or something. read more

My first choice for produce in the city. If you are living on a budget or unemployed or on food stamps you can't afford NOT to shop here. We never walk away from there without 2 huge bags of fresh fruit and vegetables, rice and cookies for more than $20-$22. They sell produce that is near the date where stores like QFC won't sell it or produce chain grocers reject but that does not mean that with some effort you cannot find good food and cheap prices here. Sometimes they have some organic items but not always. You cannot plan on any particular item as the selection changes and sometimes items are on the edge of freshness, so you take a pass that week. BUT, that said, if you go in there willing to try new items and are flexible about what you get from week to week there is not better place. The herbs are the only caution. If you get them you have to use them within one or two days as they go bad very quickly. read more

LOOOOOVE Lenny's and am so happy to have found this place. There is nothing that makes me happier than finding good deals on produce. I am one of those people who could easily eat pounds of berries in one sitting, so that can add up pretty quickly. I am also one of those people who goes to places like Whole Foods and am depressed when looking at produce prices - not because I can't afford it, but because I just am fundamentally opposed to the principle of paying $5 for a handful of strawberries. You may not find everything you are looking for at Lenny's each time you visit, but there is always a nice seasonal selection. Just as an example, I went the other day and bought onions, garlic, tomatoes, broccoli, eggplant, baby carrots, red potatoes, grapefruits, red grapes, pomegranates, oranges, and I'm sure I'm forgetting to list a few items, for about $20. May not be the freshest produce you'll ever see, but it will certainly be the best selection for the cheapest price in Seattle. read more

This place is a true treasure for Seattle grocery store wanderers like myself. Excellent excellent prices on fruit and produce, if you are familiar with Chicago it's almost like a mini-Stanley's produce and a great break from some sticker shock you'll get at Whole Foods, Safeway, QFC, Metropolitan Market, Pike Place, etc etc. Granted some of the food may be just on the verge of errrhmmm how do we say "turning too ripe" but still I don't care if I can buy a pound of green seedless grapes for near one dollar or find 8 ounce boxes of strawberries for that I think i can stomach sorting through some occasionally "overripe" food. Also, I can't believe it took me so long to find it, but they have a nicely priced stocked food section where I found some great prices on taramind paste, fish sauce, etc. Don't be shy to walk around and check out the deals! One tip would be if you buy a lot and only brought one bag with you (i sometimes overbuy due to being hungry while i shop) they can hook you up with some boxes to put your food in.
