I got told I needed a referral when my insurance has never required a prior authorization. I called my insurance and confirmed and they agreed with me that I don't need a referral/prior authorization. I called them back and they scheduled my appointment 2 weeks out. The day of the appointment I got called 20 mins before during their lunch time and they left a VM canceling my appointment because of not having a referral. I immediately called back within 2 mins of them leaving me the voicemail and no response because they were on lunch. I left a VM requesting to speak to their manager and never received a call back. Very unprofessional the way the handled the situation. Never again!

However - We've been seeing Dr Lum for over 7 years, since we first arrived in San Diego. He's always attentive, considerate, kind and gives us plenty of options and choices of care. She was extremely thorough, informative, and patient with all of my questions. I'm 41 now, and I've noticed my prescription and eyes changing quite a bit as I get older, so it was really reassuring to have a doctor who took the time to explain everything and make sure I understood what was going on. The prices are also excellent, much better than what I've found at Target Optical, Walmart, and other optometrists. They even offer free eye exams with the purchase of select contacts, which is a fantastic value. The doctor made it quite obvious she did not want to be there doing the exam with her snarky comments. I have a cornea disease I have to wear hard lenses to flatten the cornea to see. They were glasses I had been wearing all week prior & nothing was wrong with them, they were simply too tight on the nose pads. She proceeded to heat my glasses up (without my permission) to "adjust" them but Instead ended up breaking the bridge of my glasses in half. Upon taking responsibility and repairing; rightfully so, I returned to the store to pick them up only to see that now a lens was broken. The company is not taking responsibility because, and I quote "from an optical standpoint, the adjustment and repair of the bridge could not have caused the lens damage".
