Came in today to get my brothers glasses fixed since the place we originally bought them from is closed on Sundays and he needs them for school tomorrow. When I arrived, the woman at the desk was on the phone with a customer, after she got off the phone she then helped another customer who came in after me. Even after we were finally acknowledged and told to sit, she helped yet another person who arrived later. After waiting about 30 minutes, we were told they couldn't fix the glasses because we didn't buy them there unless we get a new prescription with them. I've had minor fixes done at other eyeglass places for a fee, so I wasn't expecting anything free, just help in an urgent situation. Unfortunately, the lack of customer priority and unwillingness to assist means I won't be returning nor recommend this location. read more

Went to this location in Troy. They told me my insurance didn't cover much but they forgot to mention that I was out of network. Proceeded with getting glasses. Paid for my glasses. Ordered transitions and the glasses don't transition. Called the store the lady was asking when I got my glasses? If you pulled it up on the screen, you can see when I purchased them. She said she will see what she can do. What do you mean? You're going to fix it or give me my money back. I'm going to keep complaining until this get resolved. read more

Called here today for an emergency for my 80yr old dad who misplaced his glasses and hasn't been able to see for the last 2 weeks. I called, spoke to a really nice guy on the phone and within a few minutes he found my dads records from 2 years ago and made a new pair of glasses ready for pick up in 2 hours!! I came here to get a quick prescription and it was the best appointment I've ever had. The doctor was cracking jokes made it entertaining and professional. He also helped me with my lazy eye and showed me all the options that I had that other doctors were avoiding. I had an incredible experience at this store recently. I have only been wearing glasses for about 3 years and I needed to replace my first pair and have an exam for a new prescription. My husband and I have used Macy's Optical before in Oakland Mall (me once, him a few times) and we always had a good experience, but they have a limited selection of glasses as well as limited exam appointment times. I made an exam appointment online (awesome and simple), and when I arrived early they got me started right away on pre-exam questions, etc. Every staff member was REALLY nice and the facility was UBER clean. Dr. Vishawanath did my exam and it was really thorough and she took her time with me. I honestly felt like I went to an Opthamologist, not just a basic eye exam. I opted for the Optomap (extra fee) because it doesn't involve dilation and it is a digital 3D map of your eye, optical nerve and macular. My mom suffered from Macular Degeneration so I NEED to be careful to have my eyes checked. (the best part is you can take the digital file of the scan with you for free, for future comparisons!) I selected my frames and had my glasses in an hour. FOR REAL. VERY happy, I'll go back for all my future frames! read more

Yes, I purchased glasses from LensCrafters. I went to this location to 'exchange' a pair of glasses that somebody (*cough* pushy salesperson *cough*) talked me into believing looked good. Well, I realized they didn't. The more I wore them, the less I could stand them. When you get enough blank stares from people you know and trust when you show your new glasses, you might have made a bad choice. I took LensCrafters up on their 90 day return/exchange policy. I know the stock varies a little by location, so I thought I would try this one since I was in the area. I went in on a busy day, but staff still tried to be helpful. The supervisor asked me what I didn't like about the pair that I wanted to 'exchange.' She asked me to try them on so that she could see what I was talking about. She showed me some frames and then left me to look around. Some of the recommendations I didn't like, but I'm picky (hence the 'exchange'). I wasn't that impressed with the stock. I didn't see a lot of Vogue (one of my favorite frames). Ray Ban was kind of limited. There was a lot of Coach, Tiffany, Prada, and other designers in that vein. I did feel a little awkward doing the 'exchange' because the supervisor asked me a few times if I was sure about my selections. She also gave me her opinion a few times and then said 'but you're the one who has to wear them.' That's right, I am, so don't push me in the direction of a frame size I'm not comfortable with. If you do, we'll just end up back in this awkward moment, with me saying I told you so. It took a very long time to find something that I felt comfortable in. No one rushed me, which is nice. I was avoiding going with black, but I ended up with black because that style frame looked the best and I was ready to raise the white flag. A visit or two to a few more stores and I would probably have had all of SE Michigan covered. I couldn't get the glasses in an hour because they didn't have my lenses in stock. I was told that it would be up to a week. That's acceptable. I've waited about two weeks at other retailers. I have purchased glasses from LensCrafters in the past, and I will say that this is the first time that I have not been able to get my glasses back the same day. I said that to say that their claim to 'glasses in 1 hr.' isn't a complete load of crock. I would have given more stars if this location had more of a variety in what I call the mid-level frames, instead of the high-end frames. read more

Had an eye exam done on a Saturday at the Southfield store. In order to get glasses that day I had to take the script from the Southfield store over to the Lenscrafters at Somerset Mall. Got glasses and vision was blurry. Went back to Southfield store the next day (Sunday) and had exam redone. script was different from previous day. Took the new script back to Somerset to have it filled and while it is better, it's still not clear to the degree I'm looking for. I am now seeking other options read more

Oh LensCrafters, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways. Wanted to have my lenses replaced. The General Manager, aka the Carnival Barker, broadcast everything she said with her megaphone voice, making it uncomfortable to be near, much less have my personally identifiable information announced for the whole store to hear. She wouldn't replace my len$e$ $he $aid, becau$e they wanted me to get a new $prescription$, taking my time and money that I wasn't willing to $pend. I'm willing to get new len$e$, but not when you're trying to take advantage of me with bullshit rules that cost me more money, especially when I don't need one. Will gladly go elsewhere, even if I have to wait a little longer. read more

Worst optical place I've ever experienced. First of all they cracked my frames (Ray Bans, argh) when putting the lenses in and wouldn't refund me anything. Secondly, both pairs of glasses I've gotten from them have had the coating peel off the lenses. I got better glasses and service for free on the Internet. read more

I've been coming to this location for a few years now and I've always had pleasant experiences with the staff and good experiences with the doctors. You don't typically have to wait too long, i was in and out this time. The doctor actually took the time to explain my results and answered all my questions very patiently, highly recommend this place. Also, I just call them and they place my contact order, delivered to my house. Doesn't take longer than a week to receive my contacts. They just make everything very easy. read more

This Lenscrafters is at the bottom of the barrel in Michigan. I know because I've worked at the Lenscrafter at Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor & Fashion Show Mall in Vegas back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Even when I visited the Oakland Mall location in 2009 to get a prescription filled, the doctor could not get my prescription right after 2 tries, and lab messed up one my lens. As a former employee you would think they would direct to an experienced sales associate, but they did the total opposite and even trying to show empathy to the new girl, the experience was unprofessional. So upon returning to my new place of employment (where I sit in front of a computer screen about 10hours a day), I wore the glasses for about 3 weeks before my eyes were hurting. I couldn't do to much to get them replaced because I was working in Afghanistan at the time. Lenscrafters of Oakland Mall even after 15+ years of service is still at the bottom.....smh!!! read more

Worst place ever, manager over there is not the best manager to truly take care off loyal customers I was a loyal customer until I stared noticed they wouldn't replace my lens that I just bought 2 months prior where I had insurance on them they wanted me to buy a new set with a frame which ridicules. Kristen did my prep and some testing and made it very pleasant with some conversation and smiles. The doc was so nice, knowledgeable and fun. And Cynthia and another lady whose name I didn't catch made the shopping and purchasing enjoyable. Everyone was on point and I could really tell that they all were having a good time too. Terrible terrible customer service. I received my new lens for my frames and they were incorrect. I could tell right off the bat, but they insisted "just wear them for a couple of days so your eyes can adjust." I had to come back in the following week to see the doc again, and sure enough- they were the incorrect lens. Had to order another pair of lens to replace them and they said it would take about 7 days. I called back after the 7 days to see when I could expect them, and sure enough they were there. I NEVER even received a phone call letting me know they were ready for pickup. So I've been wearing a pair of lens that are incorrect. The lady was extremely rude to me on the phone. Terrible customer service. I would NOT recommend this LensCrafters location to anyone. read more

The only positive thing to come out of my experience was the doctor. She was informed and listened. The staff, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. I was given 3 different answers when inquiring about the arrival of my contacts (during 3 different calls). They received notification that the contacts were on back order but no one bothered to inform me. I finally picked up a prescription to take elsewhere. My kids have had eye exams at school & with their pediatrician, but insurance covers a yearly exam so I decided to have them both get one as a check up & baseline. I called 5 places and Megan was the only one who went the extra step to get them an appt fitting my schedule. She was helpful & polite. Ashley helped us when we got there and did a great job with the tests they do before you see the Doctor. Neither of them had ever had the "puff" test before and they all handled it great. Dr. Sistick was perfect. He was friendly, personable and didn't rush anything about their tests. We had to wait for their eyes to dilate and he told us jokes to keep them entertained. He kept us all informed on what he was doing and gave a report to me on each of them when they were finished. I put a lot of time and thought into any doctor that I take my kids to and I definitely plan to continue at this facility. It was a great experience. read more

Worst place ever to buy new glasses. A new low. My wife AND i had gone about 2 years before getting new glasses so we knew we needed exams. Went on a Sunday afternoon and waited about an hour to get our exams with only 1 person ahead of us. Once the eye exam was finished we sat and waited for them to complete the paperwork (when they finally got around to it.) It took us less than 5 minutes to pick frames. We needed three pairs of glasses - safety and regular glasses for me and then one pair (safety / regular) for my wife. After being there for 2 hours and 45 minutes (a Sunday afternoon shot) we finally were able to pay the bill and leave - without glases and a bill that came to $1192.00. They told us the two pair of safety glasses would be ready by the next day but because we lived about 30 miles away and work 6 days a week, they said they would mail them to us. So we waited. One week later, still no glasses. I told my wife iit is probably a case of "we didn't ship you two pair because we were waiting to receive your other pair" - trying to save a couple of dollars on shipping. My wife called them the following Sunday and reminded them of the high price we paid. Sure enough, they were waiting for the other pair. After a tyrade from my wife, we received the two pair of glasses by Tuesday. Still no third pair. My wife tried her new glasses. When she stood up she nearly fell down again. The glasses give her the feeling that the room was spinning. She tried several times to wear them and could barely walk straight. I tried mine the next day. Although we made it abundantly clear that we work with computers all day (both of us programmers) I cannot focus on my laptop screen. The laptop is in the normaly position. Through the top section of the glasses the laptop is too close. I have to sit back to read it which becomes difficult because of the small type on the screen. Through the bottom section of the glasses I can see the screen clearly - if I move to within six inches of the screen. Not comfortable at all. We will be returning the glasses this coming Sunday to our local LensCrafters in Livonia. I'll post again with the resultls.
