I was a little bit skeptical at first when I got a single slice at Leo for pick up. The slice was good but it wasn't great. Given that we live right around the corner we decided to give it another and sat outside. It was amazing this time. We started with the chopped salad - which was delicious and loaded with veggies and then we followed this up with the meatballs and clam pizza. We thought we ordered too much but it was so delicious we finished everything. The clam pizza was fresh and savory and the perfect meal for a summer night. The wine I ordered might have been my favorite part of the meal. It was described as a rose but had similar notes to a sour beer, called Swamp Thing. I would highly recommend everyone try this if it's still available. We finished with the frozen yogurt which we were happy to learn they added it to be available on more days than it was prior. Rounding up from a 3.5 here. I heard about this place, written up as the potato pizza being one of the best dishes a food writer had eaten this year, so I had to try it. The pizza is made on sourdough, giving it a tang I wasn't fully expecting. We got the pizza and mushroom slices. Both were pretty good, good texture and flavorful toppings. But the tang of the sourdough was a bit too strong for my taste. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to pizza. But worth a try for a good slice with a twist. read more

I am usually not one to rave about pizza but this place is an exception. I used to live nearby and I'd get it once a week at least. My favorite is the pomodorini pie with the spicy oil and the chopped salad. The pizza are really light and you can tell they use good ingredients. Came in casually to get a pizza with my partner. Host guy with a hat was not the most pleasant. We sat down we ordered drinks and then I ordered caesar salad and a ny slice pizza with pepperoni. We waited at least 20 min starving only to get our order wrong. The guy with the hat asked me in a smart assy way "oh you didn't want sausage"? NO I never ordered sausage, then he proceeds to tell us "there's two ways we can do this we can add the pepperoni on top or start a new pie". But in a really condescending way. Never apologetic or sorry that they got our order wrong. Not him or no or the other servers came to our table to apologize or try to make it better. We waited 15 min more then we cancelled and got our check never got to try the pizza. With that kind of service it could be the most amazing pizza still will never go back. read more

went to leo last night before a show at baby's all right. the outdoor dining structure is cute and our server was just right amount of attentive. my friend and i ordered the foccacia w ricotta, caesar salad, and the clam pizza to share. i'm surprised to say we barely made a dent in the pizza! the foccacia was SO good and the ricotta had a great olive oil/vinegar drizzle. it came w three pieces for sharing intel! loved it. i also thought the caesar was fantastic, had some raddichio so a little twist there. super anchovy-y though for ref, it's not everyone's thing! i thought the clam pizza was surprisingly spicy but ymmv. i'd probably try a different pizza next time. note that the noise level inside is uncomfortably loud during busy times. i was glad to be outside! would return if i was nearby. would be great to see a mocktail on the menu (tho i appreciated that they have a non-alc beer and some soda options!) read more

When your wine list is 30X larger than your dinner menu, there's going to be some issues. Selling sancerre by the bottle while having three options for pasta, one of them spaghetti, is pretty disappointing as a guest. Our waiter, who had to have us point at which wines we wanted not even seemingly familiar with the list, seemed to want to rush us on a Monday night continually checking if I wanted to order more and I found myself irritated because i'm a slow eater and it was my friend's birthday and wanted to enjoy the meal but sadly couldn't. The pizza was okay, but nothing special especially for williambsurg. The oysters were alright. Even though we had a reservation for three we were sat at a table only big enough for two and were, of course, crammed in next to all the other tables. This was certainly the worst dining experience I've had in the city for a very long while. Will not be revisiting. read more

Leo is quite good. I love Ops and don't think Leo pizza is at Ops level plus you pay for more here. Service and vibe aren't Ops level either but still good. The butter beans and tagliatelle (felt more like paparadelle) bolognese were killer. Clam pizza was very good. Some bites incredible. But the pizza crust didn't wow me. The soft serve swirl of salted caramel and a blood orange sorbet did wow me. Very good spot. For pizza you're better at Ops but for a lil pizza plus apps and pasta go here. Very disappointing. Slices were no better than a sheet-pan pizza you might make in your own oven. The slices were also somewhat old and stale. A number of publications have name dropped Bread and Salt as one of the baker's affiliations (no doubt, in an attempt to drum up some excitement.) Let me tell you, this pizza is not even in the same ballpark as Bread and Salt. I am in disbelief they've tasted their offerings and haven't attempted to make them better. Oh this place is very good! Had a delightful pandemic al fresco meal last night in their covered parking space dining area. They have heat lamps and the tables are generously spaced. It was a very frigid and windy night so it got a little bit cold out there but we moved ourselves directly under a heat lamp. Loved the clam pie and the the hill (we added sausage!). Also, really enjoyed the chopped salad and the delightful wines by the glass. Can't wait to come back here and explore their interesting variety of wines next time. I'm talking bottles not glasses! The waitress was very nice and really knew her wines. Kudos to this great spot from the Ops folks, really doing the work during these tough pandemic times. Big foodie and Williamsburg native. I cannot state this more matter of factly - this place is SO overhyped (no idea why it was even hyped in the first place) - the food is mediocre at best, terrible service (girls wandering around like they've just seen a ghost) and so sad what they've done to the space. It used to be the lodge and was so cool and now it looks like a sad doctors office with no character. There's always a wait for a table and it's so bizarre because there are empty tables everywhere and the food is blah (and takes forever to come). Pretty sure this place paid its way on to top restaurant lists, do not waste your time. There are 10 pizza places in Williamsburg way better than this. Also the gelato is meh. There's something refreshingly modern about Leo's slices that just blew me away. Sure it was late and the pies were a tad stale... but the unlikely combo of sweet potato, sausage, and onion on an expertly browned crust made for such an addicting bite, that I've given in to the thrill of this new spot. went to Leo a year ago and loved it, sadly it's gone downhill. had ordered two appetizers, only one showed up until following up with the waiter. ordered two pizzas and again only one showed up after waiting 47 minutes. poor service and run of the mill pizza is sadly what Leo devolved into. This is a review for the restaurant. We arrived on Friday at 7:30pm and were quoted an 1.5 hour wait (after calling 10 minutes prior and being told 20 minutes max, but I understand that sometimes happens). Rather than taking our name, she instructed us to go place our food order for what we wanted to eat once we would sit down, then return with our order number. Everyone, including ourselves, was confused by the entire process as we stood around packed into the somewhat confusing bar area (is this a waiting space? are people eating dinner here?). After an hour, the hostess sat us at what was essentially the waiters' station at the window where they repeatedly came to grab silverware for new tables. Before we even got into our seats our food arrived. So you're paying restaurant prices for a pizzeria, with zero waiter interaction. That being said, the pizza was in fact delicious. I'll just be waiting to go back until I hear that their service situation has been resolved, and stick to the slice shop next door. read more
