Recently, August 1, 2026, we dined here around 8p.m. Since we thought this was upscale (North Hills, next to the Renaissance Hotel), we dressed up. There was no host or hostess present upon entering. We did see her coming; from near the kitchen. The dining area (not the bar) was moderately decorated. We would suggest some art pieces could brighten up the place. We wanted to sit outside, but we soon learned that they did not have enough servers. Our seats were near a wall: one seat was a cushioned attached seat and the other opposite was moveable. Our lamp on our table had lost it's battery power. Our neighbor got one from another table and switched out ours. We noticed the table toward the center of the dining room had had a wine spill, all over and onto the seat and floor. Staff did not clean this properly. Wine remained on the floor, even when they later sat 3 people at this table. As for food, we first ordered wine from Chandler. It was just his 2nd day waiting tables for Leo's (but experience from another establishment dictated how he would serve us). He was not dressed like a server. He had old blue jeans and a while button-down shirt. The rest of what few wait staff there were wore white shirts and black pants. All of the staff were scrambling to help guests. Even the restaurant manager was bussing tables. We ordered the fried zucchini, and those resembled onion straws. They were delicious, but immediately after those were on our table, our entrees came out by a female wait-staff. We asked her to take them away and make them again (for $44.00 scallops, why should I have them under a heat-lamp). It was a mistake that they corrected. She didn't do anything wrong, thus the look of surprise on her face. When Chandler asked about our entrees a bit later, we said that the pasta bolognese was great, but my scallops were not hot. They were sent back again, and this time they were just okay. I learned that some seafood products arrive frozen, and the kitchen may not thaw them correctly, thus, not receiving a good sear on the grill. The pea risotto was good and the asparagus was very good. Chandler really wanted to take care of us, so he arranged for the manager to come over and speak to us. Between the two of them, this restaurant "made it right!" Our dessert was comped and we enjoyed it. We will give this restaurant another try. I wanted my experience to be stella, and that may not have happened. However, going again will certainly give this establishment a second chance. read more

Unfortunately was not a good experience for us here, started from ordering one of their signature coattails "Smoked Old Fashioned" and they didnt have chips to smoke. Table bread was under cooked and the pasta entrees were undercooked as well (pasta was pasty) In my experience you come to an Italian restaurant for some good pasta. We also tried their gluten free pasta option due to allergies and unfortunately it was disappointing. Was really looking forward to this meal but did not come through. Service was ok we came in early 5pm so we enjoy the restaurant and not go into a busy service and did not pan out. Being from the Philadelphia area, I am always skeptical about Italian in NC. However, I thought Leo's was very good! My expectations for Italian are very high. We were with a group, the service was attentive. We ordered a bunch of apps: meatballs - very good, fried zucchini - okay a little too stringy and just tasted fried, cauliflower - good. I got the shrimp and lobster pasta and thought it was great. Pasta was fresh and al dente, good amount of shrimp and lobster pieces and the sauce was very right, not too heavy. I came for the Halloween special where you can get $10 pizzas with a certain code, where as normally, they cost $17. Strangely, I was the only one waiting at 1 pm on a Friday. And maybe 2 tables were occupied in the whole restaurant. Then again, as hard as it can be to park at North Hills, maybe that shouldn't be too stunning. That pizza oven stands just off to the side when you walk in, which is cool. And it gets to over 600 degrees, always a good sign for a crisp pizza. I asked for the pizza to be ready 1t 1 and I had a 20 minute parking space. My Sicilian pizza was already cooking in the oven when I arrived. So I was in and out within 5 minutes, so props for being prompt. The pizza was about 12 inches and it had roasted banana peppers, onions, Italian sausage, and oregano. It was cut into 8 slices, which was a little too much, it made the slices too small. But the crust was crispy, all the ingredients were flavorful and well proportioned. I also got a free round loaf of Italian bread with some oil and herbs on top. I had asked for some Parm on the side, and they added it in a little plastic cup. I attended a dinner here with a group and had an okay experience. I started off with a beer (Stella Artois) followed by an Aperol the OG (this drink was $17 which is expensive but it does come with an upside-down split of bubbly. Our table started off with the cauliflower bites, zucchini frites, calamari and arancini. For my entree I ordered the lasagna. I really liked the appetizers; however, the lasagna was just okay. I will say the portion was very generous. I've been to both Leo's locations now and it is just okay for an Italian spot. read more

Loved this place! Had dinner here on a work trip and the food was phenomenal. I recommend the eggplant Parmesan, so crispy and delicious. The portion was so large I had plenty to take back to the hotel. Our service was great considering the large amount of guests to serve. read more

Decided to try this location today and to my surprise it was completely empty for a restaurant that offers brunch at 12:30pm on a Sunday! We were able to modify our reservations by walking in without a problem. Our appetizers were yummy. I enjoyed the calamari (fried ) hard and the spinach dip. By the time my salad arrived, I was full. For me, this is a restaurant to grab appetizers only as I'm not a fan of the menu while I do love Italian food. Walking out, I noticed a pizza bar which was super cute! We had an excellent meal at Leo's tonight. First, we were surprised by a complimentary champagne toast since we were on a date. Thanks to our waitress and OpenTable for that perk! Then, we were treated to warm bread straight from the oven with oil & balsamic vinegar sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. I ordered the wedge salad and their Tuesday night special, a personal pizza and 9-oz glass of house wine for $16. My husband ordered the Steakhouse salad. This was my first visit to Leo's Social House, and unfortunately, it will also be my last. Our bartender was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and the highlight of the experience. However, we were very concerned to see a female manager preparing and serving pizzas with her long hair completely down and not tied back. After we brought it to the bartender's attention, a male manager took over making the pizzas, but he also wasn't wearing a hat or hair restraint. We ordered the spinach dip, which came with only four crackers. When we asked for more, the female manager who had been making pizzas with her hair down brought them to our table. At that point, we didn't feel comfortable eating them. Seeing food being prepared without proper hair restraints was disappointing, especially from management. They might want to take an ServSafe class. After that experience, it's not surprising to see their sanitation score is only a 96. Food safety should be a priority, and unfortunately, this visit did not inspire confidence. read more

I had been to another location before but not this one until recently. We parked a little bit away, since it's in North Hills. The bread they bring you is amazing! Nice and warm with some olive oil and vinegar to dip in. My husband and I split the Caesar salad, and they were nice to go ahead and put it on two plates. Leo's is where Mia Francesca used to be, at the Renaissance hotel at North Hills. Highly suggest going straight down to the bottom of the parking deck and there's usually plenty of parking near the hotel. Then go up the hotel elevator, cross the lobby and there you are. Hopefully with reservations, as this place can get packed. It is quite roomy inside though, so even if you don't you might not have a problem. I've been twice now. Once was in May. Four of us had a very good visit on a Wednesday night for half price bottled wine and armed with an email for a free appetizer. (sign up on their website, but don't do so too far in advance as it's only good for a month). We enjoyed some fabulous calamari (love the two sauces that came with it, especially the white lemon one), along with their delicious complimentary bread with oil & balsamic. Hits of that night were the Steak (Sis loved it), the Carbonara (not a traditional one...this has peas and chicken and is terrific!). Husband enjoyed his sausage pizza, while I had the only disappointment, which was Nonna's pasta. Nonna, how could you go so wrong when the description sounded so good? I tried everything, adding parmesan, lemon, crushed red pepper, but it really had no flavor and the ingredients other than pasta were few and far between. Most recent visit was a recent Wednesday where five of us Gals had a very good meal. I loved the Salmon dish. It's light but nicely balanced and seasoned. Others liked the Risotto with added Shrimp, the Grilled Chicken Salad, Baked Rigatoni and Caprese Salad. Drinks good also. I tried the Jack & Jill which was a thankfully not sweet blueberry vodka drink. The Lemon Drop made with their house made Limoncello was super good also. The Wednesday in May that we went was super crowded. This Wednesday was not as much. Both times Service was very good. Prices are on the high side but not unusually so for the quality and location. I had high hopes for this place but the result was meh at most. First, the restaurant and atmosphere is romantic as well as inviting. However, the server was nowhere to be found for us, we ordered and waited awhile, meanwhile i can literally see our food on the counter for good 10 minutes. I would have rated this place higher but two people in our group felt sick after eating here and one of them got a full on upset stomach. I was fine- had the salmon with risotto. Salmon was okay, the risotto was a tad bit lumpy and asparagus was overcooked. Overall, the ambience is decent and the atmosphere is typical mid scale restaurant with nothing very distinctive. Convenient if you are staying at the Renaissance since the restaurant is attached to the hotel. Wife and I wanted to do something different for Easter Sunday that didn't involve having to wake up early for brunch. Additionally, I didn't want to venture too far from our home so we decided to go to this restaurant which was just 6 minutes away. I made a reservation for 3 pm in OpenTable. Got there at exactly 3 and asked to be seated. The seating host first directed us to the bar. That got me a little irritated because there were a lot of open tables around. I asked politely for other options and then she directed us to a table which was astonishing given right behind was an open booth. Why she didn't offer that right off the bat was just as irritating. But I pleasantly asked to be seated in the booth and they obliged. I was about to be seated I noticed that there were breadcrumbs in it. The hostess switched chairs instead of cleaning it. This alone is why I'm taking out one . Our server Caleah was a breath of fresh air. She was courteous and attentive but unobtrusive. She took our orders and they arrived promptly. The appetizer bread was bland and slightly over baked. It was dense and not fluffy at all. The olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette was tasty though. The bread is a "C". The calamari was tasty and spicy, which helped cut through the richness. I'll give it an "A". The Chianti was delicious as well. The pineapple juice was just as good. The lobster and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo was well made, generous and delicious. I'll give this an "A". My major gripe is the sirloin with Chimichuri sauce. I've had good steaks over the years and I can almost guarantee that that the cut of meat they served me was in no way a sirloin. It was full of ligaments and tough to cut and chew. The only saving grace was it was cooked perfectly, well seasoned and rested. Eating it was a jaw breaking experience. I'm giving this a "D minus". I'm docking 2 stars . The ambiance is nice and airy and felt like the interior of a nice house in Tuscany. Definitely worth dining here. So that ends up with the final tally. Two stars. I'm really hesitant to come back. The parking sucks since it's at The Renaissance. I like that we signed up for the rewards and got the appetizer coupon right away because most places wait days to send it. The appetizers were great sizes. I didn't care too much for the bread, but the appetizers made up for that. Our server, Michael was AWESOME! We had an incredibly bad experience last night at Leo's. Service was substandard at best, though the server was attentive As best as possible. What was brought to us was not what we requested. Ordered no potatoes with entre, we received potatoes and the server acknowledged she put order in without them and still brought out to the table. Temperature of the steak was not what was ordered and had to be sent back. Requested a manager to come speak with she could could not be bothered to come to the table. Another manager came over and was quite nasty. Basically said, said if we did not like our experience, we were welcome to leave. I was here for a birthday dinner, and they graciously provided complimentary champagne for a toast, which was a nice touch. However, my main dish arrived lukewarm, more suited to a child's temperature. I also ordered the chowder and Caesar salad, but neither really impressed me. The salad was decent, though it had less dressing than I would have liked and no option for more on the side. The chowder was served at a disappointing temperature, and even after asking them to heat it up, it was brought back the same way. Easy parking...deck below the hotel and has elevator access to the hotel lobby..from there entrance/access to Leo's; wait time was 45 mins--pretty busy on a Saturday night; laid back atmosphere..everything from super casual onward; music from all genres mostly upbeat and loud; low lighting; bar seating available as well while you wait; great for date night; my only low was that my rigatoni was not rigatoni pasta which I was looking forward to as it's a hearty pasta; they used fusilli pasta instead. I also did not care for the "sauce". The pasta wasn't cooked evenly as some of it was too al dente and others were overcooked. The carpaccio was ok..needs heartier capers and more shallots orjust onions period...also missing the shaved parmesean the Mia Francesca used to put over theirs..but this isnt Mia Francesca so...Expectations this visit were not met...not bad just not accustomed. Had a wonderful lunch at Leo's with a friend. It's located in NorthHills adjacent to the Renaissance Marriott hotel in North Hills. Plentiful parking available however if busy on a weekend you may have to park further away. We had a noon reservation & were seated promptly. Our waiter was fantastic. Sadly I do not remember his name. Water was provided to the table & a bottle left so we could refill. Hot Bread & dipping oil came out promptly & we ordered calamari. The calamari was delicious. Perfectly breaded & seasoned with marinara and another dipping sauce. We requested lemon too. My friend & I both ordered the orecchiette with sausage and broccolini. It was delicious. The sausage had great flavor. I did expect more broccolini. It was mostly stalks and no florets. Overall a delicious lunch. Would love to return & try other dishes. read more

It was exceptional, the calamari was lightly battered and body pieces only, service was perfect , had the grilled salmon on bed of spinach with roasted potatoes in a butter sauce. I had dinner here for the first time on my birthday & it did not disappoint. This location is in N. Hills at the Renaissance Hotel. They remodeled the inside extensively from the previous restaurant. It's much brighter, the seating area near the bar is perfect & the esthetic of the entire restaurant is beautiful. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we walked in & our amazing waitress was at the table almost as soon as we sat down. We received complimentary glasses of Champagne for my bday and this bread with some kind of delectable buttery, garlic situation on top came to the table. We always order several things when we try a new restaurant. Last night we tried the Lasagna (of course), Crabcakes, Shrimp Risotto, Shrimp & lobster pasta, lobster bisque and what turned out to be the star of the show...Rosemary Chicken Pizza. While everything was delicious, that pizza was sooo flavorful, light, different, and just good! I don't even think it had sauce on it. It was just rosemary chicken, cheese, spinach, Roasted tomatoes & possibly sprinkled with what I'd imagine magical fairy dust taste like.
