We had a problem with a kitchen exhaust hood, which can be complicated to fix. Before discovering Lerman, we called a repairman recommended by a neighbor. That person told us that we needed 2 computers replaced at a cost of $800. Our intuition told us we needed a 2nd opinion and found Lerman on Yelp. Vitaly came at the arranged time and quickly discovered that the only problem was likely a blown fuse. It's a special order item that he'd have to return with. A couple of days later, he provided the part for less than I was able to find it for online and didn't try to replace anything else unnecessarily. The fee was only $112 for the 2 visits, including the $25 fuse and tax. I am glad to pass along a solid recommendation for his honest, good service. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before but I am so angry right now that guess what, you are the first. I chose Lerman Appliances after much research because of their great reviews and especially because they advertised that all of their servicemen would be using masks, gloves, and booties. I have been incredibly careful about precautions involving COVID-19 and inviting anyone into my home for any reason has been a source of great stress for me, because of this, the promise of safety equipment was very important to me. I made an appointment and was looking forward to my oven being fixed. A few days later, the day of the appointment I was woken three hours before the appointment time to the technician at my door. I was bewildered and still in my pajamas but I let him in since he was there. He was not wearing gloves or booties and he kept messing with his mask with his bare hands before going back to touching things in my kitchen. He did one test, declared that the circuit board of the oven was bad and said that he needed to order two parts for it. He needed my email address to send the invoice and without preamble shoved his phone at me so I could enter it. After seeing his previous hygiene practices I told him I would dictate my email to him and let him handle touching the phone. He left and said he would come back after the parts came in. A week went by without me hearing anything. No ETA on when the parts would arrive and no scheduling of the next appointment. I called in to see what was going on and was told the parts only just arrived and the next available appointment was a few days from then. I took the appointment and waited some more. About an hour into my 2-5 appointment window I got a call from the technician telling me that he was having car trouble and that it would take at least until 4pm to get repaired. He said that he would come over afterwards if it was fixed by then and if not he would come the next day. I agreed and waited. Again. I never got a call back. I called the next day hoping to get the appointment I was promised and was told that there were no appointments available until six days later. I asked if there was anything they could do, send me a different technician, somehow squeeze me in sooner and the dispatcher said that they would talk to the owner and give me a call back. So I waited. No phonecall. The next day I called in and asked if anything had come of asking the owner for options and I was told again that the soonest appointment was on Monday. At this point I told them that I didn't even want my oven fixed by them anymore and I would not be paying them as they were clearly incapable of offering any semblance of service, not to mention they cannot get their technicians to wear and properly use their safety equipment. Guess what? That got me the call back. The owner called me (amazingly in the same day given their track record) and said that he wouldn't charge me for parts ordered but they were still owed the diagnosis fee. My question is, why should I pay that? They advertised a certain level of sanitation, the MAIN reason I hired them, and they woefully fell through on that; they were supposed to arrive at a certain time, instead they arrived three hours early leaving me so wholly unprepared I was still in bed. Why should I pay for the worst service call I've ever experienced? I will not. And they can speak to the Better Business Bureau if they push it. Nothing about this experience has been as advertised. Over the amount of time it has taken for this great debacle to unfold I have literally had food rot and be thrown away because I couldn't cook it. I will never use Lerman Appliances again and will vehemently recommend that you use anyone else for your service call. Edit: In reply to your response: I'm sure your technician is very concerned about his own health. He simply wasn't concerned about mine. The promised gloves and booties never made an appearance during the entire visit, as I mentioned in my review. And I'm glad that you appreciate the payment that I made since the only reason I made it was because your employee on the phone threatened me with collections before dismissing me after I paid by saying, "Have a nice life" I still maintain that you falsely advertised the sanitation that was promised and I should not have had to pay for a "service" so out of line of what was guaranteed. This family owned business is the best. They are professional in every category from first contact through the repair and testing of the appliance. Really as good as good as it gets. I've used them on two appliances at different locations. Each repair was completed in a short period of time, an explanation of what the problem was and estimate for parts and labor to complete. This is the second time using these guys, the first was to fix a fridge in a rental property which they did quick, fast and at a good rate. Today it was my home where the dryer wasn't heating up properly for a few weeks... They came out during first hour of the scheduled three hour window and the tech figured out after taking the whole dryer apart and inspecting the various parts that a tiny dead spider had crawled inside the gas valve assembly and was blocking the gas line..... How he saw this I don't know!! Instead of charging me for replacing a gas valve assembly unit that appeared broken, he cleaned and removed the offending microscopic bug to clear the gas line and had me back up and running with just an hour labor charge... Honesty is the best business calling card and these guys know it. Will definitely use them again. read more

Our washer went out a few days ago and Lerman was the second place I called...the first being WAADT (very rude on the phone...didn't seem to care about my business)...then I spoke with Val at Lermans and he's was wonderful. Very helpful. Even led me to the Yelp discount so I could receive the best price. The service tech came out today and within 45 mins my washer was up and running. I actually joined Yelp because of the company. I have used Yelp many times to find reviews for services, products, food etc., but never contributed until now. I called this company after finding them here and reading the reviews. My refrigerator had been "acting up" for about 4 months and I needed a honest person or company to check it out. These guys were awesome - I called left a message, call was returned in about 30 minutes by a guy who listened carefully, asked questions and then even put me on hold while he called the tech in the field to ensure that he was diagnosing the problem correctly. He set me up for an appointment that was 2 days away. The tech arrived early, immediately opened the unit and within 10 minutes discovered that while he could help me, it would be financially the wrong move to make, and I would be better off purchasing a new unit, and take advantage of the Energy Rebates. Most companies would have gladly ordered the part and charged me full ticket to do the job. Instead it cost me $35.00 for the service call, diagnosis and professional opinion. Fixed my broken stove!!! Rainy days SUCK enough, but when your oven breaks, it's horrible! Especially when you are freezing, and want to bake something for your daughter, but can't. I called Ilia (sp?) and he called me back right away. I described the problem. He gave me his guess. (igniter), and also gave me a quote for the fix. He sent out someone in 2 days, and bingo! it was the igniter. He took credit card, and fixed it in 10 minutes. Cost was $180 MINUS $20 for yelp discount. These people SUCK! I recently bought a Liebherr refrigerator and found that the ice maker had a leak. I called the manufacturer and was told that the repair would be assigned to a local company. After a week I hadn't heard from anyone so I called the manufacturer back and was told that the job had been assigned to Lerman Appliances and was given their phone number. I called and at first was told the job hadn't been assigned to them but after a little probing they admitted that it was. I don't remember the reason why they had not contacted me to schedule an appointment. I told them that I didn't want to take off work for this repair to be done and that I'm available on Friday afternoons. I was told that someone could come by on Dec 24th, between 1:00 and 4:00. I asked if they were sure that someone could come by on Christmas Eve and was told that someone could. So here it is, Christmas Eve, 2:00 and I haven't heard from anyone. I give them a call and was told that i never confirmed the appointment so it was canceled. I asked when was I supposed to confirm the appointment? I was told that someone called and texted me on Dec 16th. I checked my phone and there are NO calls or messages asking me to confirm my appointment. I want my ice maker repaired,. I'm sitting here on Christmas Eve WAITING for them to show up. IF SOMEONE HAD CONTACTED ME TO CONFIRM THE APPOINT, I CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE DONE IT. If any of your employees claims to have reached out to me they are lying!!! What a WASTE of my time! My 4 years old LG wahsing machine started to leak a couple week ago. I open the rear panel and found where the leaking come from but did not how to fix it. I was referred by Paul's appliances because they don't come to the Valley. I was assured by Paul's appliance that Lerman won't rape me off. So I went to the internet, Yahoo, Google and Yelp. I found Lerman has the best reviews in the Valley. So I called him to schedule an appointment. He showed on time and found out what was going on right away. He fixed the problem within 10 minutes. Their prices are a bit high but probably about what to expect. Mike was nice and prompt for the appointments he did show up for. I called them for my oven service to show me how to clean between the glass of my Bertazzoni oven. The owner asked for my credit card and asked for $100 deposit. When the service provider showed up yesterday asked for another $250 dollars to show how to clean the glass. Its all scam to over charge you and get their deposit and charge you more if it's possible and they didn't help at all!! I'll never contact them for service again :( read more

I want to start off by saying that I went about looking for assistance through Yelp, and saw how many good reviews this place had. So of course that's who I called. THANK YOU YELP USERS! Or is it called Yelpers!!?!??! Kind of cool if it is. This place was amazing from start to finish. The initial phone call was to a real person who had a great relaxed attitude and it made scheduling the appointment so much easier. She quoted me a time between 2 and 5. By 3 o'clock Vitaly was knocking at the door. He was friendly and respectful, and showed us the problem in a patient manner. I like to learn, and was grateful not being a burden. Within a flash he diagnosed the 1st of our two problems which only required us to defrost the freezer, and within a second flash he diagnosed and fixed the second a simple switch on the washer door. He quoted us a price, and even gave us a discount since it was my daughter's 1st birthday! WOW! Who does that anymore? I am eternally grateful for making this experience as amazing as it could have been, and will be using Lerman Appliances any time I have a problem. They were just flat out awesome! read more

The ice maker in our fridge broke a couple of years ago, and we put off calling a repairman. I fancy myself a handy kind of guy, and (foolishly) assumed that I could fix it myself at some point. Well, this week I decided to pull the fridge out of its spot and see if I could figure out the problem. Lo and behold, there is a leak in the back of the fridge that has been dripping water onto the ground for TWO YEARS. Ugh. Luckily we have tile and the damage was minimal, but it was obviously time to call a repairman. I found Lerman Appliances here on Yelp, and called them on Wednesday. The soonest appointment they had was on Friday, which was okay with me. I mean, what's two more days of dripping? Our serviceman's name was Ilya, who was very friendly and knowledgable. He immediately diagnosed the problem (leaky water valve) and explained it to me in detail. After calling a local place to find the part (which cost $98 alone), we were quoted a price of $246.82 to fix the fridge. We used the Yelp special, so our total came to $221.82. I can not comment on whether this is a competitive price since I didn't get any other estimates, but we were very happy with the work and would recommend them to friends. Ilya even reconnected our dryer exhaust tube at no extra charge! Very pleased. read more

I absolutely HATE Samsung and their stupid appliances which seem to break within less than 6 months of use, BUT I am SO grateful to Lerman Appliances and to Ilya for repairing our malfunctioning washer in one shot. I had requested them through Samsung since they were the only certified repair company in the area with such great reviews (and for good reason), and I'm so glad I did. Ilya had the necessary parts with him and got our washer back up and running in no time. He promptly arrived during the expected window we were provided and was out in about an hour. It took about 60 seconds with the repair guy while he inspected the fridge, looked up the parts, showed me the cost of parts / labour to fix the old fridge and we both decided a new fridge was a no brainer. My six year old GE refrigerator freezer section was frosting up and the GE repairman wanted $600 to fix it. I tried a few things but finally ordered the parts from GE and called Lerman Appliances to install them for $150. Another place wanted only $100 but I felt with the good reviews here, I could trust Lerman Appliances more. Then shortly after that the icemaker was not making ice so he came back and charged me another $200 to put in a part which did not fix it totally - works off and on. I have looked up so many things on the internet and it seems like it might be the temperature sensor as it is still leaving ice chunks and not making ice all the time. He told me to push the plug on the icemaker tightly when it doesn't work but I can't seem to do it as it is far in the back. I have been waiting two weeks to get him to stop by to push this plug together with no ice in the meantime. I threw away $200 and although he made numerous trips and is a very sweet man, it still does not work correctly. Update 6/2015: Purchased a new ice maker, another thermistor, and something else and paid them to install it. It is working much better now. Still have some build up of ice but not nearly as bad as before. The new icemaker is working fine. I have spent a small fortune on this refrigerator so hope it keeps working as it is only 6 years old. Perhaps a better diagnosis in the beginning would have been helpful and less expensive. However, owner is a very sweet man. read more

He called the office and said "let's upcharge them for a coil" even tho I asked him to simply clean out dryer lint. I called on Lerman Appliance Repairs listed on Yelp and struck gold. This family owned company was professional, knowledgeable, prompt, and Joseph and Ilia were as nice as could be. They correctly diagnosed and repaired our refrigerator which had been incorrectly diagnosed by a factory referred tech. That tech not only badly welded something but ordered a compressor which we did not need. We needed a return visit the next day in order to re do the poor work of the factory tech. I can't say enough about how pleasant these guys were and how reassured we are in the quality of their service. Simply put....you don't need to call anyone else if you have an Appliance issue. I have been using Lerman for so long I can't remember. I used to call any random repair service when I had a problem with our appliances. But since discovering them I don't even bother looking at anyone else. Vitaly is an appliance master. The first time he came to my house to repair my washing machine I discussed what I thought the problem was (after doing some research on my own). He asked me why I thought the problem was what it was.....and when I told him, he was actually appreciative that a customer would try and find out more about their product. At that moment, where you usually would get attitude from your normal repairman....I knew that I'd found the right person. He fixed my broken washing machine and told me to hang on to it as long as possible because the new machines are not made as well as the one we have and not to be swayed by front loaders and all the new bells and whistles. Believe me....I would love to get a new washer & dryer, but if it's not going to do the job dramatically better than what I already have, what's the sense? Since Vitaly fixed my washer, I've had him and or Ilya fix my dryer and most recently a fridge that refused to get colder than 50 degrees. Ilya came out repeatedly to try and diagnose the issue. He spent hours trying to track down the source of the problem. It took multiple visits over weeks....NEVER was I charged for these extra service calls. Paulina at their office and I were speaking so much that she knew who I was just by the sound of my voice. After every troubleshooting attempt she would call to get an update to see if the problem was getting better. Now THAT is customer service! After going through faulty replacement parts made by the manufacturer, they finally got to the root of the issue and solved the problem. I can't think of any other company that would have gone to the length or trouble to stick with a customer and their problem....and do it with kindness and warmth. They do great work, have very fair prices and most importantly they want to make sure you are satisfied. You can't go wrong with these guys. Highly recommend!! They have become my go to's for repairs. They even suggested that IF I was considering new appliances to call them to ask which brand I was looking at to steer me away from those ones that have constant repair issues that they see on a daily basis. The service tech was personable, which was important because I was knocked out when he arrived and looked a hot mess. :) He was able to quickly pinpoint the issue with my samsung dryer, educate me on what needed to be repaired and went right to work. I believe the price was reasonable for the amount of work performed which is incredible for a consumer. My refrigerator died over Labor Day weekend, much to my dismay. It was a Saturday, and I called around a few places to see about getting someone out there the same day, to no avail. Lerman Appliances was the only one that answered, and they were able to schedule a repairman to come out right away. I believe his name was Mike, and he arrived quickly and was very knowledgeable. He quickly took apart my fridge and determined that there was a freon leak. Unfortunately, I knew this was a problem, as I had to have my freon replaced a few years ago. He suggested it wouldn't be worth the $300-400 dollars to refill the freon, when it could just leak out again in a week. I appreciated his honestly. I almost removed a star, because even if I had wanted to replace the freon in my refrigerator, Mike wouldn't have been able to do it. They apparently only had one guy who is qualified to replace it, and he was out of town for the long weekend (which was of course completely understandable). It ended up not being a big deal, and I was able to get a new refrigerator delivered by Monday, so I was thankfully able to save all of my food. It was just slightly disconcerting to know that if I wasn't able to get a new fridge right away, they wouldn't have been able to repair my current one anyway. Ultimately, I didn't remove the star, because considering it was a holiday weekend, I feel I received exceptional service. read more

Highly recommend this repair shop. They are honest and easy to deal with. Called and spoke with Ilia about a problem I am having with my washing machine. I took the phone over to the machine and manually spun the drum around so he could hear the noise over the phone. He immediately knew what the problem is, the rear bearing is broken, and told me it would cost as much to fix as getting a new machine. Instead of taking my time to set an appointment and charge me a fee to come out to tell me the same news, he was able and willing to let me know the honest truth over the phone. I decided to give this place a try after reading all the great reviews. I was extremely satisfied and would absolutely recommend Lerman to anyone who needs an appliance serviced. I called and left a message after my washing machine broke last week. I received a prompt phone call back and was able to set up an appointment for the very next day. Unfortunately something came up and I had to cancel the appointment only about an hour before the repairman was scheduled to arrive. When I called to reschedule, the gentleman on the phone was extremely nice about the last minute cancellation and gladly rescheduled for the next day. The repairman came in the first hour of the the three hour window and was extremely professional and thorough. He showed me exactly what was wrong with the machine and had the replacement part in his truck. He fixed it right away and even gave me tips on how to avoid the same problem in the future. I highly recommend Lerman for appliance repair. Quick and friendly service when my washer broke, with a drum full of wet towels. Barry came right out the same day - diagnosed it, quoted me a quick price for parts /labor and came back in a few days to fix it for good. It's such a relief to have a reliable source. They charge a service visit fee ($60) up front but it gets waived if you choose them to do the repair. They also order real manufacturer parts, which in my mind is better than cheaper alternatives.
