I was having refrigerator problem. My freezer was freezing, but my refrigerator wasn't getting cold at all. I came to Yelp to find a good repair service after having a couple failed attempts with other companies. Yelp did not fail me! Lerman Appliances is totally legit, and their rating is definitely deserved. They offer a two hour time block for service, and the guy I spoke to, Val, offered to have the technician call 20 minutes before arriving to my house so that I could leave work on my lunch break and be back in time so I wouldn't have to wait around for the 2 hours. My wonderful technician Ilya was very honest about my options after he took my refrigerator apart. The part was $140 (with the $20 yelp discount. Yay!), and he told me that some people opt to buy a new refrigerator because the part is expensive (with labor). I really appreciated his honesty. He wasn't trying to sell me anything. That part is still cheaper than a new fridge, so I had to go with it. He rushed to install it because he knew I was in a hurry. To top it off, they put the part under warranty even longer than the manufacturer of the part does so as to keep their customers happy. Called and spoke to Val to make an appointment for my dryer that wasn't heating and my noisy dishwasher. He was very helpful. Informed me that Serge would be coming out to fix my dryer and take a look at my dishwasher between 10am - noon. Also if I needed any other assistance during the appointment that I should feel free to call. Serge and Dimitri arrive exactly at noon. They figure out that it is the fuse that is blown in the dryer and fix it in a flash. Also cleaned out all lint from the dryer. Recommend that we replace dryer hose because of buildup of lint. My husband opted to do this. Serge told us that it was probably hard water that was causing the noise. That the build up over time in the motor was causing it. Recommended a product and told us how to use it. Signed the receipt,made the payment (got my yelp discount too!)and off they went. Just as it should be! No fuss and finished in 45 min. My list of criteria for appliance repair is quite simple: Show up on time, fix it, and don't take all of my money. Check, check, and check. Lerman's did these three things promptly and professionally while guaranteeing their work for one year and giving me $20 off for letting them know I found them on Yelp. The repair was a little pricy but I know they charged me fairly and I would rather have quality work done one time and pay for it rather than have to go through this again next month! Overall, I believe they handled my account with competence (great phone service to boot) and I am happy to have my Whirlpool front load washing machine back in working order. read more

Lerman is as good as it gets. I had a Samsung refrigerator that I bought from Pacific Sales. A real lemon. Apparently other reviews indicated the same experience with their Samsung. They came out five times without charging me additional service calls and basically replaced all the parts excluding the compressor. They also repaired my GE Profile oven, which quite frankly, has a history of having bad circuit boards and electronic button that short out.. Lerman gave me the best price to fix the GE profile. The short of this story: use Lerman to fix things but don't buy Samsung or GE Profile. read more

Our oven had a problem with temperature control in that it would continue heating well beyond the temperature level the dial indicated. The Lerman technician came out and worked on the oven, and when he was finished, the temperature problem still had not been fixed. In addition, there was now a distinct smell of gas in the apartment. We called Lerman back and their technician claimed that everything was fine, denied any responsibility, and even claimed he could not smell gas at all. We were forced to call The Gas Company, and the Gas Company technician was able to identify the gas leak without even using his tools. The Lerman repairman apparently did not close the air shutter correctly, causing gas to leak into the apartment whenever the oven was in use. In addition, the Gas Company technician identified that the broiler was not in proper alignment with the lower oven (it would turn on too soon, and then never shut off), which was what caused the temperature problems in the first place. Also, the broiler was erratically emitting flames which the Lerman repairman described as "normal", but the Gas Company technician felt so strongly that these were dangerous as to qualify them as "unsatisfactory" on his written report and told us not to use the oven again until it was properly repaired. When we called Lerman back to tell them of the Gas Company's findings, they denied any responsibility, claimed they had done their job and refused to send the repair technician back out to fix the problem. The reviews I have seen on this site have been mostly positive, but most of them seem to be related to refrigerators or washer/dryers. Perhaps ovens are not Lerman's strong suit. Regardless, I found Lerman's unprofessionalism unconscionable, especially after putting my family's health at risk. read more

These guys were fantastic - I had the same problem many below had, where my refrigerator wasn't cooling, but the freezer was. I called Lerman based on the Yelp reviews and spoke with Val. He was super friendly and made sure I emailed him a model number so the repair tech was prepared. They scheduled me for a late Saturday evening repair, after normal working hours, which I really appreciated. Ilya was the tech who came out - very cool, took apart the freezer panels, showed us the icing problem and explained why it happened. He also made sure to have us present when he defrosted the fan motor, because he said a lot of times they burn out when encased in ice for a month. But since it was clearly working, there was no need to replace. I'm sure there are shadier repair guys who would have just replaced it without even testing it for us. The problem was a simple fix, but totally worth the money. These guys were all great, friendly, honest and now the fridge works terrific. Had Lerman Appliances come out to fix an issue with my built-in refrigerator/freezer. They were on time, very courteous, explained exactly what was wrong with my freezer and fixed it within the quoted time. They emptied the freezer, cleaned it out and replaced everything once they were done. They also had all of the necessary parts on hand and diagnosed and repaired some other visible issues while they were there. They had an extremely competitive bid for the project and charged appropriate prices for the parts (I already knew the issue and the range of the cost of the parts from internet research before they came) as well, so I couldn't be happier with them! There is no other ratiing for me to leave this company except 5 stars. The plumber Vitalry is really awesome. The best plumber I've had the pleasure to work with. Our dishwasher broke down leaving the f1 code flashing and unable to be used. The plumber came and was very thorough in trying to figure out what was wrong. Changing one part fixed the problem only temporarily so he happily came back and changed another part and then changed the lid of the dishwasher. This fix the problem for months but then the lid of the second dishwasher needed to be replaced. All of these additional visits were done at no cost to us. Vitalry genuinely cares about the quality of his work and that we have complete satisfaction. Extremely rare and we would never look anywhere else if we have any more problems with our appliances. At this final visit we were finally charged for the ordering of the part for the second dishwasher but no labor because we already paid that in the first visit which was months ago. I had a great experience with Lerman Appliances! I called on a Monday and Val was very nice and helped me make an appointment for the next day. He gave me a 2 hour window (10am-12pm) and offered a call from the technician 20 mins before he was to arrive. I received a call from Ilya saying he was on his way 45 mins before and when he arrived right at 12pm, he apologized for being late. He was not late. My first impression of Ilya was that he was a very polite and pleasant young man. I just got a good vibe from him. In the past, I've had some techs from GE come fix appliances and they were sometimes creepy, mean, and rude. Ilya found the problem and gave me some options. He could clean out the rust from the plastic coin catch area and I could try to see if that worked and my clothes were free of the rust stains, or he could replace the part. Because the amount of rust and because I didn't want to risk ruining more clothes, I decided to just replace the part. I liked that Ilya didn't tell me just to replace it right away and gave me the option of saving money and trying to clean it. He said that he would need to order the part and he could schedule sometime this week to come back to install the new part, maybe Friday. He asked if I was going to do any laundry until then. I said, no, I'll wait until he comes back to fix the washer. I think Ilya sensed my urgency and saw all my laundry piles waiting to be washed and he called right away to see if the part was in stock. He then told me that if he could get the part tomorrow morning, then he would come install it that afternoon. I was so happy to hear that! Ilya came on Wednesday afternoon to install the part and then I found out that he usually doesn't work on that day, because he goes to school on Wednesdays. Ilya is awesome!!! He is very professional, polite, honest, friendly, and most importantly he really cares about the customer and made the extra effort for me. I was so happy that my washer was fixed so fast and I felt that their prices were reasonable and I got the yelp discount! I've never had such a great experience with a service person and I will now only use Lerman Appliances. I have and will continue to recommended them to my family, friends, and neighbors. I hate shopping for any kind of repair person, but the dryer heat went out and we needed it repaired, so off to hunt yelp reviews I went. I called several places who were very highly rated on Yelp, but when speaking with them they wouldn't give me any real information over the phone in order to do cost-comparisons, or were, frankly, unpleasant to deal with even over the phone. I suspected it was an igniter issue and I knew the cost of the part, so cost comparison should have been straightforward and give me an apples-to-apples way of checking for over-inflated pricing. I found Lerman based on Yelp reviews, and while discouraged/frustrated from talking to several other companies who were also highly rated, I was extremely pleasantly surprised! The receptionist fortunately passed me to Vanya, one of the Lermans, and he was able to give me a basic estimate for cost-comparison purposes over the phone. (I did have to press the receptionist to perhaps get back to me with an idea of costs as she was initially unwilling to give me any information, but once pressed, she quickly put Vanya on the line.) After speaking with him and getting an approximate price (hypothetical, since I knew it might not be the igniter, but still a very reasonable, fair price based on cost comparisons), I felt completely comfortable and decided to go ahead and schedule service. Vanya checked to see if he could fit me in that day, and it turned out his brother was just finishing up a service call in my area and could get to me very quickly. His brother, Ilya, was out faster than expected and was a real pleasure to work with. He thoroughly explained how things worked and actually showed me. He quickly got to the root of the problem (not the igniter it turns out but a comparably priced repair) and had the part on hand. From my first phone call to the finished repair, it couldn't have been more than 90 minutes. And it was done for a fair price, very pleasantly!
