Normally I receive very good service here. My complaint isn't about customer service and may be an issue of education and training. A couple of weeks ago I took a set of 4 wheels/tires in for balancing. Told them there was some steering wheel shimmying at low speeds, and I thought rebalancing them would fix the issue. $85 and a few hours later I had my wheels back on my car. Lo and behold, the shimmying didn't go away. I then called a friend of mine who owns an independent tire shop in Portland and he said it might be due to tread separation. Asked me to bring them by so he could look at them, so I AGAIN removed the wheels and tires and took them to my friend's shop. Apparently his suspicions were correct. The tires (2017 production date) were indeed starting to separate. They wobbled on the balancer at low speeds, both up and down and sideways. He said I needed new tires, so I asked them to order and mount a set. Reinstalled back on the car and no shimmy! Les Schwab, you not only lost my business for a set of new tires but my trust in you! Your tech should have seen this problem, and brought it to my attention. Instead, you balanced the tires, which were a safety hazard, charged me $85 for it and sent them out the door. What if the tread had separated on the freeway and caused a crash? Fucking irresponsible of you! My friend was right: your quality and business acumen went into the shitter once Les passed away. So much for a trusted local business. From now on I'll take my business to the small independent owners and not recommend you to anyone. I guess this lesson costed me $85... read more

I stopped in to get a nail in my tire fixed and was told it would be under an hour. Two hours later my car still hadn't even been moved. I finally had to ask for my keys back because I needed to pick up my daughter from school. If the wait was going to be that long, it would have been nice to be told up front instead of being assured it was a quick fix. i took a single boat trailer tire to les scwhab on minihaha at 4:30 pm tues. It had air but had a big chunk of rubber missing and the steel belt was coming out all over tire. The guy i spoke to said 1 tire left for that. I asked to mount and balance he told me how much and asked if i would be waiting. I said no. He said we will call you when its done At the end of weds with no call, i called back and the didnt appear to find the work order. Did you know we put on a new tire? Yes, i knew that. He said Its done So i asked his name and manager name. drove down and manager said its done. Finished earlier and i dont know why no one cslled. Sorrrr-eeeee. So i said it appears you didnt check work order. Did you balance the tire. He ssid yes. I asked to see it. He left the work order on desk and in a huff led me to shop floor and my tire. All done. I asked again if it was balanced. He said yes. I asked if he was sure. he said they dont always need waits. He asked if i wanted him to balance - yes. Just so we know. so he went to balance and i went to desk and took a photo of work order. Balance was right there on the work order. He came to the desk with the tire. It only needed 1/4 oz wt to balance he said. So i pointed out that the work order was not completed. Balancing was listed and clearly noone balanced cuz you had to add wt. He got agitated. Fo you want me to chastise the whole crew. No i just want the work i asked you for completed in a reasonable time period. I asked if i could keep the work order and he said no but i would get a copy of the work order with my receipt. I paid and got a receipt. No info from work order was present. But i have a photo of it showing the request to balance. In the car i noticed he didnt charge me for balance. It appears they just didnt read the work order and didnt call cuz they were not done. And rather than check work order and its status, they just assumed work was done. Correctly and completely. I called corp headquarters. Not sure if this manager is just new at his job but if i would have just walked in and paid the full bill and went home- they would have charged me for services not delivered. After the dust settled i think it would be nice for me to tell the manager Sorrrrrr-eeeeee! I will share my docs with headquarters. But not here cuz they CLEARLY know this happened. I'm disappointed in the service I got today, Oct. 23, at the Hazel Dell store (WO 33501347816) . The service was a tire rotation on a 1993 Toyota T100 that started with one man who removed the small hubcaps and wheels. He then moved to another job and turned the completion of the rotation over to another guy. Along with that turn over was an apparent inaccurate/inadequate description of how the hubcaps were to be reinstalled. This new guy tried to reset the hubcaps according to what he was told without really understanding how the hubcaps fit. As I was watching through the window, I saw the new guy using his foot to try and set the hub caps and consequently denting the LF hub cap. When the truck was given to me, I showed him the problem (the LF hubcap was not installed correctly) and insisted he take the truck back in and reset the hubcaps correctly. He took it back to a bay and pulled the wheel, but in the end I needed to go into the bay and show him how the hubcaps fit.   I'm frustrated. While this is not necessarily a classic Toyota truck, I have spent time and money to keep it in good repair. I spent several hours and no small amount money to buy the correct hubcaps...they are rare. Now I have a dented hubcap because of the incompetence and a new found distrust of Les Schwab's ability to service my cars and truck. read more

I came in from the Toyota dealership with a flat tire they could not repair but could replace all tires. Obviously not being automotive savvy I decided to go somewhere else for a second opinion. As soon as I stepped out of my truck I was greeted by a Rebeka asking me what I came in for. She helped me right away directing me to the front desk to get my truck in asap. Literally less than an hour I got a call to pick up my truck all fixed. Once again walking in being greeted and helped within seconds. Been coming to this location for years! We've always received friendly and helpful service. Yes, sometimes you do have to wait awhile because it does get busy here, especially on Saturdays. We've purchased tires here and have always been completely satisfied with the quality of product, warranty and customer service. I even stop by when the seasons change and my tire pressure gets low. I just pull up to the air tanks and an employee comes up and checks all pressure in tires and fills accordingly. Love the drive up service! The waiting area inside is decent with plenty of tables and chairs. They have a television, popcorn and coffee available for customers. Their restrooms have always been clean as well. This location is right off of Minnehaha (63rd) and Hwy 99. It's about a half mile from I-5. Highly recommend! read more

Did an alignment here. Three months later something started clunking. Took wheel off and found out that one of the alignment bolts were loose. Called them and they said they can't help me because it was past 30 day. Had to fix the area and pay $130 for another alignment at the different shop. Use to do all of my cars here, but not no more. I drove in sometime in November for a complimentary tire pressure check. The technician pointed out that one of my outside duals had a significant amount of cracking on the sidewall. He was also unable to check the pressure in the opposite outside dual due to an excessively short valve stem with an excessively tight stainless steel valve cap. He informed me that they do not install valve extensions due to their tendency to leak. He also recommended I schedule an appointment for a tire consultation. He indicated that new valves are sold in sets of four, and I could purchase two sets to ensure that each wheel has a stem of appropriate length. I brought her back for the consultation and requested a listing of existing size/type/manufacturer for each tire, including the spare. I also expressed interest on replacing the bad winter tire with a similar winter tire, as five of the six tires in use are winter tires. The salesman suggested that I replace the damaged winter tire with a highway tire to 'match' the single mismatched tire in the set, while inferring that winter tires are only acceptable traction devices when installed on a four-wheel-drive vehicle. (This is where knowing the details of the brand-new-with-sticker-full-sized-spare would have been useful, but they neglected to provide the tire inventory I had requested. I dismissively approved the tire he wanted to install and requested that the tire be inflated to 80 psi to match the setup I was attempting to achieve at the initial tire pressure check. When the vehicle was complete, I returned to the shop and paid the bill. Immediately upon approaching the vehicle, I noticed several valve caps missing. I checked all the wheels to find that all six caps had not been reinstalled. (Most tire shops will give you complimentary caps to replace any that might be missing, but apparently this location simply tosses yours aside.) At this point I also noticed that not only had they neglected to replace the short valve stem on the good tire, they also installed an inadequately short stem on the new wheel... complete with a "they tend to leak" valve-extension...! To top it all off, the tire does not appear to hold air over the long term as it's holding at 30 psi four weeks later. Ultimately it may need to be replaced (from sitting, under-inflated, on a loaded vehicle in storage) before the March snowboarding trip to Stevens Pass. I wanted to have everything ready to go and not wait until the last minute... Can you imagine how furious I'm going to be if I'm required to chain up for the last two miles simply because I do not have a full set of winter traction tires installed?!? (Not because of a conditional road closure, but because both driver side duals could lose traction in freezing temps on a non posi rear end...) They never listened to any of my requests after the first day. Taking the vehicle back would give me little confidence they would do so going forward. I'm done. read more

I been taking my cars there since I started driving. I won't be back for new tires or service there anymore. I will preface my comments by saying I'm a 40+ year Les Schwab customer. First at the North Lombard store in St. Johns, (Lyle was store manager) and the last 20 years in Hazel dell in Vancouver...They were my go -to store for tires and brakes and had ALWAYS been there for me! UNTIL the last year. In the last year I went there to look for a new complete set of tires for my SUV and to have them fix a flat...I had shopped around on line for tires so I knew prices going in....Not only did the asst mgr quote me MUCH higher prices, he also refused to fix the flat. I went elsewhere...then my Les Schwab battery went dead 4.5 years before the warranty on the 7 year battery expired. I called to see if they could bring me a new battery. or test it and jump start it, because it happened when I was out running errands, and was about 2 miles away from their store. (They had done this in the past for me with previous batteries). The same asst. manager refused and said they have anew policy where they won't do road service on car batteries (too many electrical potential problems he said). What a croc of crap...this guy lost approximately $1500 in business within a couple weeks...and a lot more in loss of any future business. He's in the service industry and is not providing service...he sucks as an assistant mgr. Oh and BTW...I went to Firestone (about a 1/4 mile away). got the tires I liked, for about $200 less, with a warranty, and they fixed the flat AND mounted the best of my old tires on a matching wheel and put it back underneath my SUV for a spare. so I received ALL THE SERVICES I wanted, for $200 less...Bye Les Schwab!!! read more

While my tire was being fixed for free, I inquired on help with a winter wheel and tire package for my Tesla - I have had a package through Tesla on back order since December 2022. Matt went above and beyond helping me research available options for my vehicle. I ended up with a great set of wheels and tires paying less than what I had on order through Tesla. Matt as well as other employees I dealt with were all very friendly and attentive, even when they were busy. They will always get my business. read more

So sad what has happened to Les Schwab since it was sold to billionaire Nat Simons. It was once a reputable and reliable tire source and it has become just another auto consumer shake and take. I made an online appointment for a full set of tires and showed up on time 2 days later only to be told that the only tires they had in stock and available that day were the 200.00 top of the line model. If I wanted tires that day, from Les Schwab, the bill would be a thousand dollars, the difference included other "necessary" items such as TPMS rebuild kits for each tire and a wheel spin balance for each tire. I declined their offer realizing that probably anywhere else I could get the job done cheaper that day. And sure enough, I drove a quarter mile to Point S and got the job done in an hour for 500 dollars. Interestingly as well the salesperson there commented that they only in-stock the low and mid and would need to get from the warehouse the high and when I asked for a suggestion based on typical mileage he said the low was all I would need. I've been taking vehicles to this particular location since the mid 90's. We've been customers of the company as a family since the 70's (Astoria location for years). Les Schwabs envelopes litter every glovebox of every car I've owned in the west. These guys hustle and their customer service is second to none. Super helpful! Today we had a 10am appointment for new tires and we walked out of the building happy as usual less than 45 minutes after scheduled appointment time w/4 fresh 85k tires on the Subaru. I'd recommend these guys solely on 45+ years of no issues whatsoever. read more

Stopped by the LS in Hazel Dell WA for a third opinion on a tire repair or replacement. After accidentally running a curb, a nickel-size gouge was made on the outside of the tire. Because it did not affect the tread, two other tire centers suggested to seal it with silicone. And so the problem begins: The gal wanted my keys to put the car up on the rack. Gouge is obvious on the exterior so I declined with the keys. Cooper, the technician, was summoned and he then proceeded to pry at the siliconed patch with a screwdriver. No way is he going to pull off the patch I thought. Oh yes he certainly did!! He then tells me it's unsafe to drive with the hole and that I needed new tires. Well how much are two new All-season tires? Before he even tells me the price, he is rambling on about how necessary it is to add 'siping' because we live an area with snow, ice and rain. (Won't bore you with 'siping', but from what I've read, it shortens the tires life and voids the tread wear warranty as it causes tires to have accelerate service lives) You know when you get that bad feeling?? Run fast... No tires, no siping, and NEVER Les Schwab again. read more

Went in with a removed flat tire that a piece of sheet metal in tne tread. The tires are almost brand new. The first guy tried to say the tread was wearing and that I would need four new tires. The next guy said I will need a new tire. He said he could have the new tire in a couple of days. I'm fine with that. What I'm not happy about was the cost. $400 for one tIre, come on. Went to another place and had the matching tire installed the same day for under $220.00! I haven't use this place in a long time. Not planning on going back. I came here on the advice that I only had regular tires. Not all weather tires. When the tech asked why we needed new tires, we explained that we were told that there was a small leak in two tires. So we wanted to get all season tires. He went to check the sizes and came back confused. He said our tires were all season and it didn't need to be replaced yet. He said they would fix the small leak and we would be good. I have been coming here for years. And I will continue to come here as they are honest and straight forward every time. read more

Horrible customer service. Had 2 horrible experiences with them. First one. They told my wife that she needed new brake pads, calipers and rotors all the way around the car without even taking the tires off. Also, it was late in the afternoon so it was dark. How could they tell??? Your guess is as good as mines. 2 experience which is more recent. When there to get snow chains. The guy that helped me name is Cobey, I think. So he gave me a specific age For the chains but never explain what's the difference between the ones that he had in the other ones. Never talk to me about pricing.He goes to the back to get the chains and is gone for 10 mins. I'm just sitting at the counter looking like a dummy. I had one employee walk past and noticed that I was waiting and he gave me the receipt off the printer. I had another lady asked me what happened to her own employee and was I still waiting for him to return. When he finally reappeared he has me the back with the chains and just send me on my way. Never explain to me anything about the pricing how to work the chains or even if there was a warranty on them. I strongly recommend that you don't go to this place.
