What makes this place work so well is multiple seating areas from intimate spots on a front porch, back deck, or near the creek, indoor spots that have more noise for stimulation, and long tables for more social visits. First off their coffee is AMAZING. Fresh, delicious, carefully prepared. They have some tea options as well and the room smelled wonderfully of chai. Pastries- at 12:30 on a Saturday, there weren't any left in the case. There were a couple of fancy little cakes/pies in the refrigerator but they were flat out of the more standard bakery items. So I guess you need to come early if you want something to eat! Staff was very chill, not to the point of being standoffish but just rather disengaged and like they were zoned out. They made great coffee though in their checked out state so I'm not complaining! Inside was library-like with a few people working on computers, quiet music and not even baristas chatting. Has that chilly hipster-coffee-shop vibe that makes you feel like an outsider if you're not a local. Understanding the economic failure over the last few years, overhead costs, increased minimum wage, etc.... The idea of spending $8 on a standard size mug of coffee with milk and one syrup is unfathomable. I miss my spot. It's been a few weeks now, and I'm shocked there is no mention by the public. It's not even a spot where employees bring your food and coffee to your table. The customer picks up the ordered items at the counter along with self bussing. Maybe it would take the sting out a little bit, if a service was added by employees to bring coffee and food to a table and bus. Especially if they are now making the increased wage. It is uncomfortable to be presented with a screen asking for a tip when the provider never leaves the other side of the counter. Just heads up - (non-service) dogs seem to be allowed inside the cafe and to wander around. I was a bit surprised because I thought that at places that served food, dogs could only be outside/on patio for the health code, but assume they have worked that aspect out somehow? For me, it was something I'd have wanted to know about ahead of time in case so suggest they more clearly label that since it's pretty unique aspect of the cafe. Great vibes at this new coffee place! They are the only cafe in the east bay who use a lever espresso machine so my husband and I really wanted to check it out. The coffee was great and the atmosphere was even better. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating. They have a private parking lot with covered tables spread out all around and even a covered patio. The area is gated too for some privacy. It just felt relaxing out there with the kids and one of the staff even came out to see how we were doing and offered more chairs. So, so friendly. I stopped in here on a hot Saturday with my pup and was SO delighted with my experience! The barista recommended the Mona Lisa drink and an almond galette. I haven't stopped thinking about either of them. The Mona Lisa is like an iced latte with bubbly water, which was absolutely delicious and a stellar choice for a hot day. The almond galette was fresh and flaky and just sweet enough - basically flawless. Everyone was so friendly too :D I regret not getting more pics, because the space and drinks/eats are beeeeautiful. New coffee shop down the street! Of course I had to try their vanilla latte and it was amazing. I also got the Ham & Cheese Zombie -- a little heavy on the cheese, light on the ham, but overall tasty. Ambiance is nice, kind of a rustic, farmhouse, boho, homestead vibe. The only thing that was so-so for me is the glassware. There are no handles so for the sensitive-hand patrons it might be tricky holding your cup as it can get pretty warm. You can always order togo though so not a big deal. read more

We stopped in for a coffee yesterday. It's a really cute place; warm and comfortable seating with cute mismatched tables and chairs. They offer baked goodies and we enjoyed a tasty lemon poppy seed treat. There's a nice porch in the back with plenty of seating. Parking was easy although a bit of a challenge to back out, turn around and get back to the main road. My only suggestions to the owners are: Please serve hot drinks in mugs with handles. Although the handle-less cups are unique and fun they are a hazard especially served wrapped in a paper napkin. The cup cozies offered don't fit the ceramic mugs. Also, please consider turning down the piped music volume. There's not a lot of sound absorption in the large room. It was half full of people and the added loud music made for a noisy visit. read more

While house-sitting for my brother and sister-in-law nearby (I'm up in Sonoma county now) I "discovered" this freaking awesome place last summer. Great coffee and all the small bites I've had since are always so good, but it's their staff and the friendly slightly boho vibe that make this place a keeper for me. I'm an artist (and avid book reader) and the corporate hangouts just don't do it for me, having grown up with the more creative/inspiring coffee shops of Berkeley and The City back in the day. Yeah, look forward to my next visit...especially in the warmer weather where the front (and back) porch is just so chill to read or draw in my sketchbook while getting deliciously caffeinated. The staff member that was taking my order was so friendly and bubbly! That makes a huge difference for me honestly, she recommended I try the brown sugar shaken espresso I think. I came here once in July to try it out for the first time, and I ordered pour-over off their menu but was told it wasn't available today. So I came back again now, in October, to give it another shot. Pour-over is still on the menu, but still not available. I find another review here on Yelp with someone saying they tried the same thing back in January, with the same results. They should take pour-over off the menu if they don't really offer it. Instead I got drip. The choices were medium or dark roast. My preference is very light roast, so I chose medium. The coffee was incredibly dark. I can't imagine what their dark roast is like. Either that, or the cashier got my order wrong. Several mistakes were definitely made by the cashier: - They did not tilt the screen toward me so I couldn't see how much I was paying - They needed to be reminded that we were getting our coffee to go - They did not ask if I wanted any room, which I didn't, so I got less coffee than I could have gotten My partner ordered a cappuccino and despite saying twice that we were getting our coffees to go, the person who prepared her drink did it in a for-here mug. When her mistake was pointed out to her, she tossed the drink into a paper cup, spilling it all over, and just handed it to us anyway. I give two stars instead of one, because both times we came, the coffee itself was high quality, even if it wasn't the type of coffee I wanted. If this place had better service and an honest menu or preferably the training and equipment to provide what is on the menu, it could actually be good. read more

Tryings a local coffee shop. Was greeted with a very warm hello. Very clean inside with lots of seating inside.All questions concerning menu options answered . I was offered a sampleto try the tea special they had, .Ordered the dirty decaf hard chai latte ice with almond milk and gluten free lemon poppyseed muffin warmed. Very nice together. The chai latte had to have more chai added and some brown sugar added to it tasting bitter. After adding those the drink was not bitter. The lemon poppyseed muffin was moist and the lemon could definitely was tasted. I ordered it heated. The outside seating was wonderful with tables and chairs with covering from the sun. I sat outside enjoying my dirty chai and muffin and stayed with my friend for two hours enjoying the relaxation. read more
