I toggled between giving Lewne's a four or five star rating. My star deduction is based off of three things (1) the starter onion bread for the table is plain with not warmth and just a big amount of wasted carb calories (2) this had to be the worst creamed spinach I've ever had (3) parking isn't the best. The restaurant is located near Ruth Chris & Blackwall Hitch, so if you know that area, it's to be expected. As for the steak, it was really good and I enjoyed every bit of it and their Greek salad was perfect too. If I were rating solely based on the steak, I would have gave them 5 stars. Our reservation was exactly at 4:00 and if you get there a little early, you're allowed to sit at the bar and order drinks before the seat you. Excellent food and service. The wait staff is especially helpful and friendly and ours even anticipated our needs without us asking. The sides are large enough to share and the filets were cooked to perfection. The amount of crab served in the Steak Oscar was unbelievable (had to be at least a cup of lump crabmeat) and way more than anticipated (so I got to have some)! We came for an anniversary and had a really wonderful experience. Our server, Nikki, is outstanding. Very welcoming and a great server, we were so fortunate to have her. The owner was walking around and was very knowledgeable about the menu. He stopped in throughout the meal to check on us and was very charming. When we were first sat, we were next to a rather large party who was making a bit of noise and we were offered another table in a quieter room without having to ask. It seems like the staff genuinely care. Not only was the service terrific, but the food was out of this world. We got the cowboy ribeye and the filet mignon with the crab cakes on each. So i had 3 people for a dinner at 5 pm They got us in at 4:30 and they sat us a table 50 Adam was the server he had a cold he was very stuffed up! He was not very friendly at all!!! We had the steaks and few drinks and 2 side's to split for the 214 this meal cost me i could have easily went to ruth chris and had a much!!! Such a bummer that last night experience just missed the mark, considering that our first time here prior was amazing. We were promptly greeted and sat upstairs. It is a bit underwhelming and dark. The host came by with waters for us and a few minutes later our host greeted us. I ordered a French martini and the presentation was meh. They had a huge half cut slice of an orange on a martini glass. To begin we started with the shrimp cocktail, half dozen oysters, and a wedge salad. The horseradish didn't taste fresh and none of the seafood came on ice. Instead it was laid on a singular piece of lettuce. The shrimp tasted a bit fishy and the oysters were warm. The plate it came on was hot which was a bit off also. I ordered an espresso martini and it tasted like an americano with alcohol. No presentation with this drink either. For our entrees we decided to share a tomahawk medium, fries, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The tomahawk came out burnt, like when you burn toast in the toaster burnt. Didn't taste like any seasonings or anything. We waited a bit for it, so we didn't want to send it back and wait another long time. The "fries" were like potato chips and didn't taste like they were salted at all. The mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes. The asparagus tasted like they were just tossed in olive oil.. Everything was just very underwhelming. Towards the end our server was in and out, so we waited a while and didn't see her. We ended up asking another server to get her for us. So we can get our bill and have the rest boxed up. We had noted that we were coming in for a special occasion and she brought us a complimentary dessert. Though she kind of just laid it on the table and said I saw that you guys were here for a special occasion, so here you go. She didn't really seem personable. Lewnes was recommended to me by a co-worker. The drinks were good as well as the food. Our waiter told me after the fact that I ordered as if I'd been there before . I do my research beforehand so I knew what I wanted (kinda)! We couldn't decide between steak and Chilean sea bass so we got both. Both were amazing. Also couldn't decide on if we wanted the sauteed spinach or the cream of spinach so the waitress suggested doing half and half. I can't tell you which one was better, I liked them both equally. I also got the Greek salad which had a little twist, they put potatoes in it. Which threw me off initially but I liked it. My son got the lamb chops & they were cooked well, only complaint was it lacked flavor. But nothing a little salt couldn't fix. We wanted to have a great steak dinner to celebrate the sale of our home. We called ahead to make sure this place would be open for dine in during COVID19 social distance rules for August 2020. We did not realize restaurant is next to another steak house that has other locations around the world. If you are in Annapolis though, come here. They're open for dine in! No dress code. Wear whatever you like (casual to whatever fancies you). They are not judgy! The ambiance is dark with ambient lighting for a good old steakhouse feel providing a mix of booth seating and table seating. We sat in the booth where they assigned us to sit. It was nice because the booth creates more privacy and an intimate feel. The booth also felt safer from a social distance stand point and, the blocking from the high back rest of the seats felt more secure from other people. Wait staff was on-point!!! Friendly. Engaging. Prompt. Food: The bread in photo was served warm and chewy ooey gooey onion, also served with softened butter to start us off because we were starving!!! And then we ordered straight for the main dish which was just two rib eyes with half orders of creamy spinach, half portion of the button mushroom dish and just half portion of the mash pots per their recommendation. Everything was very good! Drinks: ordered 2 dirty marty's one with gin and the other with vodka and blue cheese olives... Yum!! Also had a bottle of Malbec. Waters with a side of lemon for me. Dessert: Fudge something something - their top pick and I asked for a glass of warm milk. It's our first time here and I'd definitely return for another great steak dinner. Check them out. We ventured to Lewnes' Steakhouse per my brother's recommendation. It was his 30th birthday and we wanted to do something special to celebrate, and from his research, Lewnes' was highly rated as one of the best Steakhouses in Maryland. This being our first time here, I went ahead and made reservations the day of. It was a Sunday evening, so we weren't sure what to expect. We found parking to be a bit challenging. There was a public parking lot you could pay to park, but street parking appeared to be free. Aesthetics: The restaurant has a very comfortable and romantic atmosphere. As a lot of other Yelpers have mentioned, this place seems like the perfect spot to bring a date -- the dim lighting and private booth seating. The menu itself is pretty straight forward as well. You're not having to go through a million difference options to figure out what you want. Also the little note inside the menu about refraining from using your phone inside the dining area is a nice touch. The only thing about the menu is that it doesn't share how big each portion size is, but I guess that's something you could always bring up with your server if you're curious. The Food: We ordered the Greek Salad, 40oz Tomahawk Ribeye, New York Strip, Tuna Steak, French Fries, Mushrooms, and Asparagus. I know... that's a lot of food, but we were also hungry people. I'm not used to there being potatoes in my Greek salad, and I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere on the menu or by our server, but other than the potatoes, the salad was what you would expect from anywhere else. The Tomahawk Ribeye left more to be desired. I'm not sure if it was lacking in seasoning or what.. but I guess my expectations were just higher. Quoting my brother, "The New York Strip was the best New York Strip I've ever had." The Tuna Steak was huge, it blended in with the rest of our red meat steak dishes. Perfect for any seafood lovers or Pescatarians. The French Fries seemed more like chips (not the kind you find in England) and were too salty for us, but our server was kind enough to get them remade without the salt. Firstly, I love Annapolis and this place was recommended to my by a friend. A lot of people speak highly of this restaurant. Parking is slow to come by. So you could park at the outdoor parking garage and walk over. We were a bit late for our reservation but they were still able to accommodate us. I was so appreciative because a hungry best friend is something you don't want to deal with. Lol! We finally sat down to eat upstairs. The ambiance was great. Dim lights, waiters were dressed very professionally and clean, table cloth on tables and lots of seating. Onwards and forward to the food. As a starter we had bread and the crab balls. The bread was good with butter. Fresh and light. Those crab balls... were excellent! My best friend and I fought over the last one! She won. We both ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and asparagus. I was disappointed because my steak was good but needed a bit more seasoning. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were not good. The mushrooms were the highlight! Sooo delicious! I tried everything to make the mashed potatoes work but to not avail. The asparagus was a bit bitter and overcooked. I was very underwhelmed. My godsons meal of chicken tenders and fries was just ok as well. It wasn't flavorful but he was hungry so he went for it. Wow. Hands down the best steak I've ever had. I got the Petite Filet with asparagus, and mushrooms to accompany and it was all amazing. The filet had a delicious crust on all sides, crisp and a little salty. It was the absolute perfect balance of flavors, I'm salivating just thinking of it now. The mushrooms were delicious as well, they were nice and buttery and the asparagus added a nice freshness to the meal. The maple bacon special appetizer was really good - definitely a slab of pork belly rather than bacon but delicious nonetheless. We enjoyed a nice glass of wine. Our server provided a tasting because I was not sure if the Riesling was going to be more on the dry side. Warm onion bread was brought to the table. We opted for shrimp cocktail as an app. Filet mignonette, ribeye, Greek salad, sautéed spinach and sautéed mushrooms were ordered. My wife and I always talk about finding the perfect blend of family atmosphere/ great service and amazing food. I think we found it! The moment we walked in there was definitely something special about this place. An elegant not over the top romantic vibe. My wife found the wine list so extensive that is was intimidating. The menu wasn't huge by we locked in our selections. The wife had the oscar style petite filet and I had the regular filet topped with extra butter and blue cheese ( medium well). The food arrives and everything is absolutely amazing. Perfectly seasoned steak accompanied by detailed sides. My steak was a bit undercooked but the responsiveness of our waiter and the service made this a non issue. They quickly scooped up my plate and delivered not only the steak at the correct temp but also fresh detailed sides to replace the ones we started. This was a meal that made you take a few too many bites that would put you one step from a food coma We finish up thrilled with our journey to food paradise ready to settle up on our bill and our waiter shows up to the table with a complimentary brownie Sunday to account for that miss on the steak temperature. Leave it to Spencer H. to always find a good steakhouse in the area. We both noticed there were a good amount of patrons for beyond peak dinner time on a Wednesday. We arrived a little after 8 and we were seated after a brief wait. We received immediate attention for drink orders and quickly decided what to eat. A ribeye for each of us with mash potatoes and spinach for sides. Beyond hungry thank goodness for the big loaf of warm bread while waiting for our meals. The bread monster was happy! Everything was good. Very simple and perfectly cooked. And the service was on point too. I wished I had room for dessert because the list of sweet treats was mouth watering. A lovely traditional steak house located in the Eastport neighborhood. There is a small bar area in the front where I had a not amazing whiskey sour. The bar can get quite busy if people are waiting for tables. Things improved when we were seated and ready to eat. The dimly lit dining area is nice and intimate, and the food was excellent. This restaurant is truly top-notch. I honestly would give 6 stars if there was an option for that. I do not remember the last time I was so thoroughly impressed by a dining experience. My family took me here for my birthday dinner and they made reservations (I do not know if this is needed, but probably a good idea). The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere here. The lighting is gentle and there is classical/old-timey music lightly playing. It made me feel like I was in an old speakeasy. Our waiter, who I wish for the life of me I could remember the name of, was amazing (big kudos to you!). He reviewed all menu items, recommended dishes, and even made sure to make us aware of portion sizes so we did not order too much. Every...single...dish, from appetizer to entree, was delicious. I have seen it on several food channels all saying how great it was. One in our party got the Chilean Sea Bass. She said that was amazing. The rest of us...various steaks. I have to admit, one in our party will ruin a steak no matter where we take her...she likes it WELL done. Her steak was under cooked. The filet for my wife was undercooked but she ate it. My buddy and I split the Tomahawk steak. We asked for it medium since that's how my buddy likes it. I prefer it closer to medium rare. It was definitely medium rare closer to rare. I planned a last minute overnight to Annapolis to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We walked from our hotel over the bridge to Eastport. I had always heard great things about Lewnes' and wanted to try it. We were able to snag a reservation at the bar top only as everything in the restaurant was booked. We enjoyed the conversation and people watching at the bar as customers came in and our bartender Tyson was fantastic. We filled up on the homemade bread, I devoured a classic steak house wedge with a perfectly done blue cheese dressing, and we split a bottle of bubbly, Taittinger. My husband got the NY strip and I got the filet mignon with 6 of the shrimp Garides style over rice. I had wanted to add blackened shrimp, these were more traditionally prepared rather than a blackened but they were flavorful nonetheless. Tyson took great care of us at the bar, and while a booth or table would've been more romantic and private, the bar was entertaining and we enjoyed the conversation. He sent us out a delicious dessert brownie a la mode with whipped cream galore to send us into the level of being uncomfortable. The walk back was much needed as the food coma was pretty serious. My husband and I had dinner at Lewnes' this evening with my parents, who were in town from South Carolina celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary and my mother's birthday. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such a good meal. Everything was cooked perfectly, and we are all completely stuffed! The raw oysters were so flavorful my parents almost ordered a second round. The steaks were tender and flavorful, and the creamed spinach was, as always, perfection. Our server, Adam, was fantastic. He was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The service was prompt, and we didn't feel rushed. There was even surprise birthday/anniversary brownie Sundae delivered at the end of our meal, which was a lovely touch that we all enjoyed to the last bite. I've had many steaks on my quest for finding the perfect slab of medium rare beef, ventured to steakhouses a fancy and steakhouses a divey - none have compared to Lewne's. There is something to be said for a steakhouse that has a small menu of food they're doing right. The steak was simply buttery and delicious, cooked to absolute perfection and absolutely melted in my mouth. Ordered a dozen oysters: fresh, cold, and delightful. The garlic loaf was soft, fresh, and scrumptious. We had the mushroom and mashed potato sides, both were prepared perfectly. I've reviewed once, but an updated review is in order. Lewnes just knows how to get it right. My wife and I had to snatch up one of the few remaining reservations on a Saturday evening, well, afternoon. I know it has to be due to the COVID restrictions that 4:45 was the latest we could get, but we ARE older and I knew by the time we had appetizers and, ahem, a few cocktails, dinner would be right on time for our age. Lewnes is observing COVID safety protocol to the letter and we were completely comfortable. Our server, Dave, was excellent and was on top of tings without being overbearing. We each had a steak off the menu. My wife, the 16 oz ribeye and I, the 17 oz strip steak. Needless to say, both were broiled to perfection and served piping hot. For sides, we had the mushrooms, Lyonnaise potatoes and the sautéed spinach a la George. The mushrooms and potatoes were awesome! The spinach could have used a little more salt, but that's my fault for not asking for some. Drinks were well prepared and delivered promptly. Maybe more than 4 shrimp for the shrimp cocktail for the price, but they were cooked perfectly and were fantastic. We were given a brownie sundae type dessert which was unbelievably delicious. Not expected but well received. We came home with half a meal each - just a lot of food! Yes, it's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for at Lewnes. I wasn't surprised by the check - that's what a great steak house costs. I'm not going to bash the chain across the street, but there's no reason to walk past Lewnes. Kudos! read more

I was a little disappointed that they didn't have Creme Brûlée on their menu but the Lamb Chops were good. We were celebrating a birthday and we had Cheesecake, which was really good. We went for dinner last night for my husband's birthday. We absolutely loved our evening there. It all started with our waiter. He was excellent. He made sure all the meals we ordered were staggered perfectly so we could fully enjoy the evening. The food was top notch. My husband said it was the best steak he has ever had.
