After having a condescending conversation with a "salesman" at Volvo we decided to visit this dealership. We met with the sales manager who answered our questions, took us for a test drive and did not subject us to the pushy/desperate sales tactics. We ultimately ordered a RX450 HL, and was kept up to date regarding the progress of our car. The car finally made it to the dealership a couple of weeks ago and we went in for an inspection and noticed that the car was missing a couple of after factory accessories. No problem they said and commenced to order the missing accessories which will be installed upon arrival. Financing was easy and during the processing of the paperwork we were provided with a high level overview of the car, signed the paperwork and was out of there. Understandable, but none of these people, all who although walked right by us more than once, never acknowledge our presence. Agreeing with Anna, Matin and Amado as recent reviewers here. Service here is just so very unsatisfactory I will never be taking my Lexus here again. Buyers will undoubtedly get better treatment, but wait until it's time for something to get fixed. On each of my last two visits, my car was received with fresh (though minor) body damage. There's no holding them accountable -- You'll just get more minor damage. With my previous Lexus of 2004-10, I used to drive all the way to the Fremont dealership until the car came off of warranty because their service was impeccable. When using my local dealership here in Monterey only a few times, and that many years ago, it was always unacceptable in quality of service, attitude of employees, and value. Hoping for positive change 5 or 6 years ago, and procuring another Lexus (and better price & availability of models/colors/options) from the Bay Area, I was disappointed to see the same old lazy and sloppy work here in Monterey. Very unfortunate because I know all of their employees aren't of the same ilk. read more

I purchase my car in 2018 has very low mileage - unfortunately, I have had several issues. The lates issue is my heater is not working. I have taken my car to dealership 3 times. 1st time - I was told my heater did not work properly because I'm using the ECO system. Ok I turned it off, still not working 2nd. time I was told is because the heater needs to be at 74degrees and make sure it is on automatic finally the 3rd time I was told that it needed an update- I was told the update was completed and guess what IT'S STILL NOT WORKING! All nonsense - I was able to speak with Hap-Service Director Spoke with him for about over 20 minutes. I could clearly hear he was paying attention to my concerns - I could hear the keyboard in the background. After going round-and-round nothing can be done my cars is working according to them. I took my new rx450hL in for service on a Saturday and was promptly greeted by Tommy who became my service advisor. This was my first time in for service at this dealership and Tommy made things very pleasant. He was great, explained everything to me that was done and to my surprise the first 2 services are free. Great service and they are open 7 days a week so I didn't even need to take a day off of work to have my car done, very convenient for my busy lifestyle. So I was in the market for a Lexus IS350 F sport but not just any one it had to be with red Interior. I tried looking for one I'm my hometown of Fresno but no luck and I was ready to give up. Well to my surprise Lexus of Monterey had what I was looking for. I also had to trade in my Rav 4. The only problem was that me working I couldn't take time off to go. So that's when I got in contact with sky from Lexus in Monterey. I have never purchased a car especially my car of my dreams without going to the dealership. I have spent a considerable amount of time searching for a BMW Z4 on Autotrader and other online auto sales sites. This dealership had the exact one that I was looking for so I called to confirm that it was still available. After speaking to 3 different people, I finally confirmed that the vehicle was on the dealer's lot and available for purchase. The sales person and I spoke in detail about the purchase, and how I would arrange for shipping to New York State. I had confirmed early in our conversation that I would like to make the purchase and that my shipping was set. Four hours later, I finally received a one line email from the sales person that said the vehicle had been sold. He also called me moments after that email, telling me he was delayed in replying because "you're not my only customer" and the entire time calling me "dude". The blatant disrespect that a luxury car salesperson would repeatedly call a customer "Dude" is entirely unacceptable, in addition to the fact that they sold a vehicle that I was already in the process of purchasing first thing in the morning. Clearly, the purchase of this vehicle was not meant to be for me, and I can live with that. However, my overall experience with this dealership was less than professional, and I would highly recommend that you shop elsewhere if you can find a comparable vehicle and price. read more

I feel this dealership uses deceptive sales practices and that character, Mike in Finance is flat out rude and obnoxious ( i won't deny, that once he started getting aggressive, rude and obnoxious, i was equally rude and obnoxious) looking at some of the other reviews, It doesn't look like i'm too far off my assessment.I've bought 3 cars since and this dealership was by far the worst experience of them all ( Lexus Stevens Creek and Marin Porsche were amazing.) And seriously, anyone even thinking of buying a car from this place, go read the other reviews by fellow yelpers. I was blown away, and you will be as well. Even the "good" reviews are praising them for the absolute basics ( loaner car, car wash ect.. Took my brand new lexus for service...Not only they didn't or couldn't take care of the issue, they acted as if I was making it up. I addition, I was given a loaner car that was very dirty inside, no one checked it before turning it over to the customer. and they kept my car over night without any rational explaination. It wasn't clear who was in charge, but what looked like to be the service manager was very rude and unfriendly. When my Lexus was returned to me, the inside was full of finger prints and not as clean as when I truned it in. I had such a discussting experience at Lexus of Monterey; even though it is an inconvenience I take my car to Steven Creeks Lexus in San Jose for service. Avoid this place. I reluctantly only go if necessary. I am a 15 year customer so this review is not a one-off experience. Last time I brought our Lexus in for a replacement rear window. It took several extra days than originally quoted and finally got a call to pick it up. Tech brought car around after I pay. No back window in the car. Oh sorry, I thought it was done. This week I bring it in for a timing belt, pick up car and sunroof is at weird angle and won't close. Spoke to Austin, who is nice, and said yes we couldn't get it closed and sorry but we also ran it through the car wash with it open. Granted it was likely an issue before I brought it in but why are you opening and closing the sunroof for a timing belt job? Further a panel is now missing from the roof rack. I ask him what happened there and he says he was waiting to see if I noticed and it was likely an issue with their car wash which blows them off routinely. To his credit he offered to replace it, free, but only after I brought it up. Today dropped it off again for a body panel install as they did not have the parts during the last visit w the timing belt. Drop car at 730am as agreed, and told to pick it up at Noon. Get call at 4pm sorry won't be done until Monday, we are down 1 technician today (sound familiar from other Yelp posts?). Also, when dropping the car off I am asked "Is it in for the timing belt?" I respond, "I thought this was done last week?" No one is sure. Wow, $3700 dollar service and "not sure if it was done." Look, I run my own business, I know it's hard, and I think the service advisors there are trying. However the culture/approach from management is clearly abysmal. I would be embarrassed of their service if I were Lexus. read more

When you buy a Lexus you expect great service, and these guys follow through. We've had some minor issues (barely audible rattles etc) that most dealerships might blow off, but they've done ride alongs and fixed them no questions asked. Whenever we go in we're treated well, given a loaner car, and the car is cleaned up and given a car wash no matter what work they do. If you do need to hang out, they have the normal coffee / snacks as well as free WiFi (look for the small sign on the wall by the desk for the password). All in all, my expectations are met, and then exceeded. read more

Went to the dealership Monday June 29th to talk about a trade in on my car & to see what deals I could get on a 2020 vehicle. Tommy was the contact person that I dealt with. We are currently in a very serious pandemic and wearing a mask properly should be a Priority. At this dealership it is not. Where is the manager? But getting back to the dealership - I had spent time with Tommy in the early afternoon. I decided on a car (the only LC 500 they had on the lot) and stated that I would need to come back with my husband to co-sign. We agreed that 3:30 would be our meet time. We both arrived early (3:25). Tommy told us there was a couple before us in the finance department. But that we were next and would be taken in 20 minutes. After 1 hour of waiting, Tommy disappeared onto the lot, my husband waited outside & ran into Tommy. My husband was totally frustrated by the long wait & the lack of initiative for a $100k sale. Finally after threatening to leave, the finance department was available. The finance guy was extremely receptive under duress. He was able to get us through the paperwork within 40 minutes. I am in a great car. But leadership seems to be lacking in the sales department. Thankfully the service department at Lexus Monterey is outstanding. read more

Purchased a new vehicle here in 2019. Customer service was great. Along with my vehicle purchase I also opted for the pre-payed maintenance services. Initially, the services where phenomenal. Car was not only serviced but washed and vacuumed as well. As time progresses the services dwindled. No more wash, no more vacuum. I'm lucky to receive a reasonable appointment date. Today, the rental car option that had been previously available was taken away. I was now forced to wait for my vehicle after a 14 hr night shift in the ICU. After sitting down with the salesman to work out a deal we could both agree on the manger didn't want to budge on his very lame number of what he considered a "deal". I am the owner of a Lexus which was recalled for replacement of a low pressure gas pump. The closest authorized repair facility is in Monterey and we live an hour away in Santa Cruz. We scheduled an appointment so that the part could be obtained beforehand. We arrived on time and were given a loaner car. As we were leaving the lot we were called and told that the part was on back order. Obviously, we were frustrated. Two gentlemen then emerged and after apologies, offered to drive to San Jose to get the part from another dealership. The repair was done in several hours and the car, washed, was returned to us. Throughout the process the employees ,receptionist, repair personnel, and intake person were very courteous and professional. Very impressive! read more

We purchased our used car from Lexus Monterey in December from out of state - we were looking for a specific model of car, were heading to CA for Christmas, and as a former Lexus owner, I thought reputation would help our odds of having a good experience with an "unconventional" purchase. The car buying experience was nice - and we are still happy with the car.... but Lexus Monterey continues to NOT FINISH THEIR JOB - we continue to wait for our DMV tabs - after 4 MONTHS - which means our car is essentially STUCK IN THE GARAGE - we have received multiple Voicemails explaining in great details apologies, new employees coming onboard, we'll get this matter dealt with......Yadddy yaddy ya ya - BUT STILL NO ACTION OR RESOLUTION - TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND A TOTAL FAILURE OF MANAGEMENT/CUSTOMER SERVICE. It has been confirmed by DMV, and admitted by Lexus Monterey, that they dropped the ball - but my reason for writing this review (my first ever negative review BTW) is THEY REFUSE TO PICK THE BALL UP and take care of our purchase- since we paid cash, I guess they figure it's not worth their time...
