If you haven't expanded your horizons and visited Li Beirut you are missing out. The flavors they produce are so exciting and will rejuvenate your senses. I mean let's face it who doesn't want to take a bite of something exciting. Tonight we were part of their pre-fix which just might be the best way to experience their menu. All the apps (and we had a child with us) were delectable. I think our 9 year old was more excited than we were to experience and try all of the dishes. When the main course came - wow - like - wow - all you naysayers about lamb need to try it here. MIND BLOWING- the seasoning is spot on and will have you going back for the second and 3rd chop. The fish - do yourself a favor grab a wine like a txakolina let that dance on your pallet and enjoy the fish topped with onions, tomatoes etc it will blow your mind. And let's not stop there dessert....every time I hear Turkish Cotton Candy I am in - I mean let's face it who doesn't love that treat. But if you are thinking American cotton candy this is 100% opposite - Turkish cotton candy is sweet but has this earthy raw sugarcane straw like texture that is captivating and when paired with rose water ice cream and pistachios is the night cap you are looking for. The staff is amazing and will steer you in the right direction, and if you need help Tony won't steer you wrong. This is a place you need to try and add to your rotation. We look forward to sampling the rest of the menu when we can dine in again, or perhaps on the cute porch in front! As a huge fan of the former Porch & Proper, I was very excited to learn that a Lebanese restaurant had taken over the space once held by such a glorious byo. The cultural influences here would offer some flavor profiles not found anywhere else in town. Friday we decided to check it out. Let me begin by saying that the food here IS flavorful and is quite delicious. I look forward to the day when I can dine here and sample the menu in the space it is meant to be savored in. The meat was all cooked to perfection (I liked the chicken, my partner enjoyed the lamb), the potatoes were flavorful, the pita was fresh, and the dessert was delish. I have zero complaints about the quality of the food we tried. I'm not sure if my less than ideal experience comes from a communication issue on my part or a lack of transparency on the website. I am not yet comfortable with indoor dining and was excited to see that they offer their Taste of Lebanon ($40 pp) menu for takeout. I love ALL the mezze, so the tasting menu seemed perfect. My best friend told me earlier in the day that he had tried the tasting menu as takeout and said it was delightful. I was pumped to try it. When I called to place my order the young man that took my call had me immediately give him my credit card info which kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I've never had that experience when placing an order over the phone; don't you want to know what my order is before you take my card info? Luckily it sounded kind of like a restaurant in the background, so I wasn't completely freaked, but it was uncomfortable. I told him that we wanted the taste of Lebanon for two guests and he just told me that it would be ready in 30 minutes. This also confused me because I hadn't told him which specialties we wanted for our entrees. When asked, he said that it was the chef's choice and they were offering the mixed grill entree for the day. I don't necessarily have a problem with this, but I didn't see anywhere on the website where it said that you don't get to choose which specialty you get with the tasting menu (I don't like red meat and was hoping for some chicken shawarma, but the grilled chicken from the mixed grill was moist and yummy). Still, this wasn't my biggest concern. As noted, I came for the mezze that was offered by the tasting menu. Sadly, we only received potatoes and hummus. No labneh, no baba ganoush, nothing else. Just hummus and potatoes, perhaps the only two mezze I could have made somewhat decent for myself. I had been looking forward to this all week, so I'm disappointed with what I received. Again, I can understand if the tasting menu for takeout is different, or if not all the cold mezze is included with it, but I think it should be noted more clearly on the website. Our experience was a little disappointing, but it was not the food that disappointed us. Both my partner and I said that we would certainly go here for a date night once date nights are a thing again. read more

What an amazing experience! We came to try something different than the normal Asian or Italian food we like to eat when we go out. I've had Lebanese food before and this is was definitely worth coming out for. We walked in and we immediately felt like we were no longer in NJ. It gave us such a difference vibe than the normal restaurants we've visited. We felt like we were on one of our trips in Europe. So fun and different! We decided to go with the tasting menu and it is a great way to experience the restaurant for the first time. We got our cold apps first and then the hot apps. All was very good. Then we received our main entree of the mixed meats. Everything complemented each other. The potatoes were amazing. Now, what made the experience so amazing to us was the hospitality that was given to us by Tony! He made us feel like family and was so passionate about his culture! He showed us what to eat with what, and you could just see the joy in his smile when he talked about the food. We finished our dinner with our 2 deserts to take home. They looked delicious! Can we talk about how truly amazing this place is? My friend said she wanted to try a new Lebanese place and I had my hopes up and this place delivered. This small family owned business is charming. The inside is cozy and beautifully decorated. The owner is SUCH a genuine, friendly, makes you want to order the whole menu kind of person. We were undecided as everything looked good and he helped us choose the 40 dollar tasting menu which helps you get a solid mix of food. The mezzos: small plates of hummus, babaganoush, olives, sausage and dips are all amazing. Every single one is super fresh and bursting with flavor. I personally don't like olives or grape leaves but the ones from here I tried simply based off the fact of how good the rest of their dishes were. While I'm still not a fan they were the best I'd attempted and tolerable. This coming from someone who spits out olives if I get one on my pizza. The meat board we got had chicken beef and lam served with well seasoned potatoes and pita. The owner made sure to come by and tell us his recommendations for how to eat. Honestly the meat was juicy, fresh and we ate until we were about to pop. We got the fish of the day which was perfectly cooked. Although the menu says it's for two people you could feed three to four. Large portions, all dripping with flavor. By the time it came for dessert I was almost positive I wouldn't be able to eat it but the baklava was so good, definitely one of the better ones for south jersey and the ice cream was kick the last drop amazing. (Not on menu but once again the owner recommended) If your palate is extensive and your open to try new things whatever this man recommends in ordering! On our way out, although the restaurant was getting busy the owner walked us to the door, asked us for our thoughts & seemed so pleased when we gushed about how much we enjoyed our dinner and even told him it was our new favorite spot. When we needed cups for our drinks, they gave us everything we need. They gave great recommendations and were nice and made us feel welcome. We all did the tasting menu for 55 bucks a person and man was it worth it. They gave us a bunch of great appetizers that came with rounds and rounds of pita bread. Each appetizer was unique, we had pepper hummus, to eggplant, crispy potatoes, to tomatoes with feta and more. I never knew veggies and Lebanese food could taste so good. The ghazal Beirut dessert is a must try if you like cotton candy and ice cream. The main entree I got the mix grill for one. It came with lamb, kebabs, plenty of meats with a white sauce. Everything tasted so good, I couldn't put it into words. And the best part is that you'll be full but in a Very fresh way. The mezze were ok, the flavors a bit flat. The mixed grill was nice, but again, lacking the punch of flavor you would expect by a Lebanese restaurant. Brilliant family-owned restaurant! I had the Mixed Grill and it was amazing! Everything was well-seasoned and the flavors just burst in your mouth with every bite! My wife had a chicken dish that I tried as well and it was delicious! My wife, who's of Armenian descent, said that she hadn't had potatoes like these since her grandmother made them when she was a little girl. We both had the mint lemonade! Wow! I could have drank that all night! For dessert, I had this cotton candy over a pistachio ice cream! Best dessert I've had in quite some time! It was my 2nd time and my parents' and fiancé's 1st time dining here. We did the tasting menu. Everything was amazing. The service was superb. We had been wanting to try this restaurant after reading all the fabulous five star reviews. Unfortunately for me it was a complete disappointment. The restaurant is very loud, it's hard to have a conversation and i felt like I was yelling across the table the whole time. We were seated on time at a very nice table and instantly, and I mean instantly, two servers appeared to take our order...I had literally just taken my coat off and sat down. We asked for more time and he did come back. Saturday night all you can get is the tasting menu and that to me was a huge disappointment. The mixed grill was dry and just not pretty to look at. It appears they have many of these mixed grills on an assembly line just ready to be taken to your table. Appetizers were good, lots of hummus and a very good sausage and a potato offering. We also had the fish dish, I think it was cod, it was good. Desserts were okay with the cotton candy being the better of the two we ordered. I love to finish my meal with a good cup of coffee and I was excited to see French Press decafe. A complete disappointment, it was slightly warm and not at all strong. $6 too... There's a lot going on at the restaurant, lots of people moving about, it's distracting. We spent $150 with tip (and it's byob so no cocktails) which is a lot of money for a very mediocre experience. A truly extraordinary meal and experience...something I will not forget! I had the Tasting Menu for dinner, along with my partner. The Baba Gahnnouj was a particular stand-out on the Mezza Platter, but everything was flavorful and a perfect compliment to our entrees. Would highly recommend the "Mixed Grill for One" as it gives you a terrific smattering. I loved the Shish Taouk and Kafta, and the potatoes were seasoned to perfection. To top it all off, for dessert we had the Ghazal Beirut (I've never been a cotton candy fan, but this dish was life altering on that front), the Mammould Mad, and an on-the-house Kanafe Cheese. Finished the meal very full, with leftovers a plenty, and deeply happy. Antoine ("Tony") runs the restaurant with his family and serves as the primary server/host. A wonderful and warm man whose joy was contagious and blended with the atmosphere. He reminded me of a favorite Uncle! I left Li Beirut giving Tony a hug and being treated like a long lost relative. My kind of place. The music, from what I could tell, was a mix of Lebanese pop and more traditional sounds. Really gave the restaurant some pep, zing, and pop.
