This is a great place if you love beer like i do, though at times the service is spotty. The beers are ever changing so that's a plus, but the menu remains the same. Called ahead with our party of 9. They were not taking reservations, but I wanted to have them aware of our larger party size. Upon arrival (6:30 pm) were promptly seated at an outdoor picnic table and placed drink orders. Received the first round of drinks and placed appetizer and dinner order with no problem. Then...the wait...30 minutes later the manager comes and lets us know she is upset that 4 ten year old boys are "throwing rocks at cars" (playing catch with a ball right next to us outside with no other patrons because they have been waiting)...we corrected them in case of any issue and hoped all was well. Wait...8:00 pm...no staff service for further drink orders, no contact with any staff, no food. We found the manager to inquire and she was glad to inform us that our food would be another 15 to 20 minutes, also she had called the owner at 5:00 and asked to close because of no staff and was told to remain open. We asked for our food to be boxed up when ready (20 minutes later) and left to eat in the car on the way home. She took $25 off our bill and apologized again. We would have been happy to have gone elsewhere had we know of the wait. We were promptly seated and never informed of any staffing or time issues. Shame on the owner for putting their staff in a poor place to perform and then have them deal with the displeased public. Managers need resources to provide service. Displeased with how this played out. Understand the manager's limitations. Communication about the situation would have helped. Poor ownership if comments from the manager are true. read more

I was not even in the door two seconds and I was greeted. The man by the door greeted me right away then not even two minutes later a vibrant short haired blonde asked if I needed a table etc,etc... I loved the music, the fact that bartender recommended two brews (I loved the Chesapeake hill something or other)what impressed most was the way I was treated by everyone ...being a minority on two counts...black AND gay..)I was appreciative. Went here with a friend about a month ago for a lunch date.. The hostess was a sweetheart and accommodated our request to be outside. We were greeted in a timely manner by our server who was fairly busy already on the patio..We ordered a few different things to be able to try more of the menu at once.. Our server was very friendly and made small talk but not the small talk that was super corny and awkward.. he stayed at our table just the right amount of time & didn't seem like a forced conversation. overall would recommend and return! The only downside was figuring out where exactly was a good place to park but it was also my first time so not a big deal! read more

Went to Liberty Ale House in Shillington and know they do no take reservations as I have been told many times! However, on December 29th after waiting one hour, a group of 6 came in were seated immediately. I questioned the waitress about this and she stated they called ahead. I live about 2 blocks away so it's very convenient to walk and enjoy a beverage or a meal. The chicken Alfredo flatbread is amazing! As well as the pub pretzel! Prompt service, however, I feel that there are a lot of young (around my age) females that work there that draw a lot of attention from male patrons of all ages and sometimes seem to focus more on those guests than say someone like me who goes alone and is female. They did a nice job there with the decor and had a very nice list of beers to choose from though I did get a flight and thought it it was greatly overpriced. The food is mediocre at best. I would definitely not suggest this place for wings as they are some of the worst I have eaten, they were heavily breaded which is no way to eat wings and as far as the sauces were concerned...the four or five different flavors we chose at our table didn't seem to have enough variation and all tasted the same. Overall this is a place to have a beer and not dinner but again it is in my opinion to pricey when compared to other similar establishments. There are better choices in the area. read more

Watched her serve drinks to two groups of people who came in 5 minutes after we had and several other customers at the bar. Still no drinks. At this point 10 minutes or more has gone by and the hostess has been seating new arrivals. She finally realizes we are still standing there and ask if we need a table. Befuddled, we say yes. This has very quickly become my go-to restaurant in Berks County. Service is always excellent, beer selection is on point, and I've never had a food item here that I haven't been satisfied with! The tuna wrap is my go to for lunch. The pretzel served with mustard and cheese is an excellent app to share with friends. I've also had (and loved) the lobster grilled cheese sandwich, poke tuna (which is listed as an appetizer but can definitely be a meal!), the steak sandwich, the rise and shine burger, lobster mac and cheese, and the mussels in spicy marinara - all are amazing in their own little way depending on what you're craving. Back to the beer selection - the ever-changing selection always has some amazing options. I always look forward to coming here, and I'm very excited for the expansion to be completed later this summer! read more

Walked in last night and the place was busy, as it is known to be on weekend nights according to friends that have been here before. Stood in the front foyer for about 8 minutes looking around for a place to sit. Finally a table opened up so we sat there. Waiters and waitresses walked right by us for approximately 15 minutes until I finally asked a waitress who our waitress was. She said "oh did you just come in and sit down." I gave affirmation and explained no one was there to seat us and there was no sign stating that we needed to wait. She then proceeded to say, well we have people waiting for this table. She obviously knew we had no idea and was waiting for us to ask the question. She did not offer to help find us a place at the bar or even give us guidance on what our other options might be. I found it rude and obnoxious being as though she walked by us 4 times prior to this conversation and obviously knew we had no idea how their operation worked. With plenty of other places in the area, we won't be returning. We'll stick to the original Liberty on the other side of town. read more

I've been to liberty ale house half a dozen times now, and every visit has been perfect. I can't wait to stop here for football games this season as the addition outside looks amazing.
