The host and server were polite, low-key casual, and just friendly enough (not rude or stuck-up). When I'm traveling, that's good enough for me. Also, the burgers weren't like $15, which is a huge bonus when traveling since we end up going out to eat for lunch and dinner most days, and it really adds up! We had: Liberty burger plus bacon Napa burger Fries (the burgers don't come with fries) We were seated on the lower level facing the street. While waiting for our food, we watched the cars and tourists go by. The burgers were juicy and tasty, but I forgot to ask for no spread, so it got really messy. We would have been fine without the order of fries, but it would have been a little weird. Can't have a burger, without fries, right?! We're just accustomed to having fries with our burgers. Went here this morning and was greeted with a long line! I assumed this was going to be one of the better burgers I've had, but I was sadly a bit disappointed. I got the food to go but the hostesses were both super kind! However, the food was just mediocre. I found a few hairs in my baby Bella burger with a bison patty (see pictures). The fries were good but the burger was too rich and saucy for me. I didn't even end up finishing it. All the places that I wanted to go to had long wait lines and I was in a bit of a rush to eat dinner and leave while the sun was still up. As I walked to another restaurant I saw Liberty Burger at the corner of my eye and did a full 180 degree turn to walk in. Luckily there was bar seating that was available immediately. There are two floors of indoor and outdoor seating but it's in a touristy area so it's going to be packed and there will be long wait times. I'd recommend getting here early if you can or making a reservation ahead of time. I ordered the baby bella ($11) which was so good because of the mushrooms. They were juicy and added so much flavor to the burger. The two things that I will say about the burger is that it's a bit on the smaller side and that the onion ring was soggy from the mushroom juices by the time it got to me. I'm guessing it had been out for a while because normally the huge onion ring wraps around the mushrooms but still holds its shape in the burger. I didn't even realize it had an onion ring in it until after I finished the burger and I saw other pictures that looked different from mine. I also ordered the skinny fries ($3) which was okay and nothing special; they have their own chipotle ketchup that was good. Looking for gluten free options and saw Liberty Burger has gf buns. Score for the celiac! So we decided to give this place a chance. We came here twice during our week in Jackson because of the gf option. And twice we waited for seating and twice the hostesses tried to put us at counter seating on the first floor staring out a window with folks waiting for tables staring right back at you. No thank you! 1. We're here as a family. Is there a table where we can actually talk? And 2. Who on earth wants someone standing 1 foot away staring at you eat??? Twice we had to say we weren't going to sit there and were there any tables available. And twice - lo and behold - a table was miraculously available right at that moment. Sigh. The burgers were inventive and cool. I loved the South of the Burger And serious bonus points for having a dedicated fryer for the fries - so my celiac kiddo could have them. Yeah for gluten free fries!!! Be sure to grab yourself a margarita while you're there, too. This is also my first time having a bison patty so not too sure of what to compare it to. But it was more tender for sure. The buns here are my favorite. So soft and chewy. The burgers are always cooked perfectly. The sweet potato fries and the onion rings are out of this world! The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired unless you get to be sat upstairs because the downstairs is just a bunch of bar and cafeteria table seating. The "booths" downstairs are all just a few separate tables along a large booth seat that are so close together that you might as well be sitting with a bunch of random strangers. Some people don't care but that's not my thing. Overall it's worth it for the food and we always go eat at this burger place when we visit. read more

Basically a hamburger with a flame-charred poblano chili and melty queso blanco cheese sauce. SO DAMN TASTY! And I gotta call out the quality of the beef. My burger was cooked more than I prefer, almost to the point of well done. OK; it WAS well done, darn it. But it was still moist, juicy, and packed with some of the best burger flavor I've had. The "Sidewinder" side dish is basically potato-based nachos slash potato skins (minus the skin). It was 'ok' but it's not the reason I'd go back. The reason I'd go back are those "Torches" side dish. It's a fresh jalepeño, flame roasted, then stuffed with beef, bacon and cheeses, then batter dipped and deep fried. I've never had anything like it and it was FANTASTIC. But, don't say I didn't warn you: This is not your basic jalepeño popper; this puppy might take the top of your head off with spice. So spicy you'll want a refreshing beverage handy. Thank goodness for the yelp waitlist! This place gets so busy, so I highly recommend joining the yelp waitlist to secure your spot in line. When we joined the list around 615, it predicted a 45min to 1 hour wait, and it was pretty spot on. Food: I had a patty melt and loved it! The meat is so juicy and flavorful. Definitely one of the better burger meats I've had. After trying a bite from each of my families food, the winner for me was actually my mom's burger, which was the Baby Bella. From the cheese, the mushrooms, the big O ring, to the aïoli, everything about it was so delicious. We also had a side order of fries with some ranch and holy moly their ranch is so good! I was violently disturbed as I walked into this 5 establishment. A man child wearing a black uniform stood behind the podium. He was enraptured with the screen that stood before him. The light summoned a green tint on his face. He seam like a modern day Frankenstein. He stood like a stone gargoyle witch had not blinked in weeks. He was proof evolution could go in reverse. His hair crusted into tight dark ringlets his finger long and withered. I do not mean to insult him I am simply describing him. Suddenly this creature lurched forward and spoke to me in a strained manner. I could tell every word he spoke was a lie. I wanted to yell out, " do you still love nature despite what it did to you?". Stopped in to order a quick to go dinner after wandering downtown Jackson all afternoon. Nothing special in my opinion. Would have rated the food 3 stars if not for the awkward customer service experience. Entered and saw an employee standing at the front register/podium staring intently at the computer. Not wanting to bother her in what seemed like such a focused task, I stood and waited for her to finish/acknowledge me. After a couple minutes, I noticed she was doing just that: staring at the screen. No eye/hand movement. Could I have been waiting on a statue? Just before I could step forward to check for a pulse/signs of life another customer entered. Said statuesque employee immediately popped up, greeted the new customer and offered to take her order. Ok then. After the customer had finished ordering, the employee immediately returned to screen stare mode. I checked myself to make sure I wasn't translucent/invisible. Confirming this wasn't the case, I asked if she had a moment...may I please make a to-go order. Nearly monotone she responded: "what do you want". I swear Siri sounded more human. I ordered the Bella burger with a bison patty, fries and a chicken sandwich. The burger/sandwich were fine. Nothing life altering. Not sure if bison has different cooking standards than beef but my burger was rather well done (not like I could expect an option from the girl taking my order). The fries were pretty soggy considering we ate them near immediately (across the street in the church park). Feeling rather unsatisfied, we stopped into the Dairy Queen (of all places) down the street and found the experience and human interaction to be much more pleasant. Big, tasty burgers in the heart of Jackson's town center! My wife and I each got one and we were stuffed by the end. I got a Wild West Burger (bacon and BBQ sauce) and my wife got a South of the Burger (burrito-style, with tortilla chips, avocado, and re-fried beans). Both were delicious and the Mexican one was particularly interesting! We split one side of fries between us and it was very big for just $3. I also got an entree salad (Crunchy) with greens and many many toppings like feta, nuts, and cranberries. It was pretty big too. Note: We visited during Covid, so they were seating at half-capacity.
