I went in being a fan of everything at novel. I left feeling also as fanatic about Libro! I went to dinner with three others and all four of us ordered something different; all four of us loved what we had! I had their burger which was anything but basic. Everything that I tasted was such good quality -- including the delicious French fries. (My sister had some kind of salad with shrimp and she was so so happy with hers.) Only negative note was my coke was super flat and I never got a refill as our waiter wasn't overly attentive. So that aspect of my meal felt like a waste. Overall, it felt so special to eat delicious food inside a magical little bookstore. The restaurant itself was lovely. I'd love to come back and taste what else they have on their menu!

I went on a lunch date with a friend and had the best time! We ate at the cutest little restaurant tucked inside a bookstore. It actually took me a while to realize it was even there, and even longer to finally check it out. But, worth the wait! Surprisingly, the place was packed for a Tuesday afternoon. We managed to snag a table, but it was definitely the place to be. I ordered the pesto sandwich with a side salad, perfect portion size for lunch, and everything was fresh. I do wish there was more of a sauce on sandwich, it was a bit dry. And, despite the crowd, the service was pretty quick and the staff were very friendly.

The brunch at Libro is phenomenal! I have been wanting to go again and made time a few Sundays ago. A friend and I went to partake of the yummy dishes. My friend ordered the seafood omelette and I chose the crab cakes. We shared the dishes. Both of the dishes were very tasty. The seasonings were spot on with great flavor. A side salad accompanied the seafood omelette. On top of my crab cakes were eggs with a delicious sauce. The service was good. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. The cafe is decorated very nicely and has a unique charm and coziness. An added bonus: classical guitar concert during brunch. It was fantastic. I believe the guitarist is a parent of a former student of mine. I know I will return to experience another awesome dining experience. We had a fabulous time.

I love Libro! It's the perfect place to grab a bite to eat after shopping at Novel. This is the fourth time I've eaten here. I usually get a pasta and their portions are perfect, a half order is plenty of food and is very affordable. This time I got the BLT and added egg to try something new, and it was great as well. We did not have a reservation, but we still were able to be sat immediately. Our server was very kind and attentive. The lighting in Libro is great for taking pictures, and there was a man playing guitar softly throughout our visit. I'll definitely be back!

Libro is such a great spot to catch up with a friend or have a date night! My book club has even had dinner here several times! The food never disappoints and the wine and cocktail selections are great as well!

This place is super cute. Staff was friendly and service was superrrrrr quick. I never thought I would say this, but maybe a bit too quick. We got the calamari app which was good. Before we could finish, our entrees were served. RIGHT as we finished our entrees, they asked about dessert. We said yes and got the tiramisu. We got a bottle of wine to split before the app, and didn't even finish it by the time we finished dessert (which is saying a lot for us). Overall we had a good experience, but it felt rushed. Food: Calamari: good, can't complain, but nothing to rave about Peppercorn steak and fries: steak was cooked to perfection and fries were delicious. Servers never came back to ask if I wanted any dipping sauce for the fries. Shrimp maque choux: good flavor and shrimp cooked well. Used the extra sauce for the fries from the other plate which was delicious. I have no complaints on the food. Overall it would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the service. They were so friendly, just not attentive enough. Empty app plate sat on the table during the entire meal. Also they seem to have a good happy hour I might want to check out.

If you want to read a good book and eat well, Libro is the place to be. I enjoyed my steak salad when I tell you I ate that salad so fast. You would've thought I've never eaten before. It was flavorful, colorful, and fresh. I ordered my steak medium well as always. I did enjoy my Cajun fries but I wasn't too focused on it because the salad was just that good. The service was excellent, the waiter constantly checked in on my guest and I as we caught up on our lives over a wonder meal. If you are not a big drinker like me, you should try the fruit tea. It does come in a cocktail glass and it was garnished with a fresh mint.

This one is for the book, cocktail, and food lovers! Libro/Novel has easily become one of my favorite places to go! I've been for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour! Basically, whatever they have to offer, I've tried it...twice! They have local good for purchase and it's a bookstore and restaurant, what more can you ask for. The service is always top tier, and the food is filling and flavorful. I can really just sit in there for hours listening to a little jazz, finding a friend at the bar and just admiring the atmosphere. I love to write so this place is a dream come true for me. If you haven't been I highly suggest trying them out. I've even included their happy hour for anyone interested. Happy Hour is every Tues - Sat from 3pm to 6 pm! HH Specials: $5 well spirits $4 off house cocktails $8 house Martinis(gin or Vodka) $5/$14 house wines $3 bud light Drinks/Food captured: SECRET LIFE OF BEES Barr Hill Gin, Lemon, Lavender Honey Syrup French 75 HUCK FINN Tanqueray Gin, Lemon, Agave, Fresh Blackberries & Basil VEGETABLE STIR FRY Bok choy, baby corn, brocollini, mushroom, snap peas, bell peppers, carrots, onion, garlic & ginger SHRIMP MAQUE CHOUX Shrimp, corn, poblano peppers in a rich cream sauce with cajun seasoning over basmati rice

Very cute but the portions are a little small. It's nestled inside a book store which is cool. Service was wonderful and I would dine in again. Perfect for a solo date or first date.

I like the jazz music, the thick wood tables, iced tea & cobbler. The staff seemed a bit too casual and half weren't wearing masks.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

I've had better burgers at fast food places. I was able to eat the tater tots while waiting for the burger. They were not good. They were either overly salted or oil they were being fried in needed to be replaced. They were crunchy all throughout instead of just the outer crust. Maybe the oil was the wrong temp or they were just overcooked.

The restaurant has a really neat vibe and is decorated better than most of the restaurants in the memphis area. We came at 5:00 on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately without reservations, but when we left, they did have a small wait to get a table. We started with the pimento cheese toastie which was garlic bread with melty pimento cheese on top. We both really enjoyed it. I decided on the filet with peppercorn sauce. I asked for it it to be butterflied. My steak was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of pink and it sliced like butter. I got the peppercorn sauce on the side and used it for a dipping sauce. I really liked the sauce, but it is really peppery. While I loved it, some might find it a little spicy. My husband had the bourbon glazed porterhouse pork chop. His was cooked perfectly fly as well and was super tender. He really enjoyed it, but mentioned that the sauce did have something in it that gave it a little spice. We shared an order of rosemary duck fat fries as the entrees come à la cart with no sides. The fries re heavy on rosemary which my husband didn't care for. I enjoyed them, but they were definitely not my favorite. Neither of us cared for the mayo sauce that they came with and preferred to eat them with ketchup. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

It was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dishes I've had there. The menu described it as chicken thigh, but it was clearly chicken breast. The dish lacked basic seasoning and flavor. There was very little salt, umami, or curry flavor. The rice was wet, overcooked, and mushy. Overall, the entire meal tasted like something taken from a grocery store freezer section and reheated. At this point, I would recommend sticking to the fries and the burgers, which remain the strongest items on the menu.
