Turtle (Chocolate ice cream w/ caramel and chocolate covered peanuts)
    Fatima G.

Indy never stops surprising me with ice cream! Yes you read it right. Just good old ice cream. I wanted to try new places before summer officially ended and LICK is perched in a beautiful broad ripple location beside Monon, a restaurant and a pub. All of which are in such a beautiful area. The place is designed for window orders only and has such a gourmet, distinct flavor that we were just drooling on our respective flavors. Blueberry + Sweet corn cookies Turtle : chocolate ice cream w/ caramel and chocolate covered peanuts. There's a couple vegan flavors too which I safely assume would be awesome! Prices were really reasonable where we paid $10 for 2 scoops with a waffle cone in one. Definitely going back!

If I could give this ice cream shop a Michelin Star, I would! I have been two times and both times the menu options have blown me away(they are rotating flavors)! Last time I got the lavender lemon which was OUTSTANDING! This time we opted for a Ginger Lemon Curd! WOW!!! Also outstanding! This place doesn't disappoint. The service is always fast and friendly and the shop is adorable on the inside. I wish their hours were a little better but other than that- no complaints! I hope they bring back their Guinness ice cream because I had the opportunity to try it and WOW! Can't wait to go back.

Truly my favorite ice cream in Indy. I'm someone who can't have much sugar or dairy and... even I can't resist LICK ice cream. First of all, it's made with all organic dairy and every flavor is made from scratch. You're getting real, high-quality ingredients here. They also always have a vegan option that is surprisingly creamy for not having dairy. Score! I'll never forget the first flavor I ever tried here: mint chocolate chip. I couldn't believe how much better it was than any I've ever had. I didn't know that such a traditional flavor could taste so above and beyond what I was used to. Over time, I've branched out and tried their unique flavor combinations, with my new favorite being the brown butter cookie dough. They also have a hot cocoa ice cream float -- the perfect winter ice cream treat. Other flavors I need to try: + Gingersnap lemon curd + Rosewater pistachio brittle + Champagne and berries + Gorgonzola candied pecan (one of their most popular flavors!) + Cedar and whiskey with local West Fork Whiskey + Vegan chocolate marshmallow I mean... is your mouth watering now?! Owner Meredith crushes it and you're going to absolutely love every flavor you try. They used to be located in the CCIC building downtown and make ice cream for local restaurants. Now, they have a location in The Garage Food Hall off of Mass Ave and just opened up in this cute little blue house on 54th and The Monon. They have a single free parking spot out front and two or three free parking spots off to the right side of the building. There are two small bar stools inside, but this spot is mostly for takeout, which is great because you can enjoy your ice cream while on a nice stroll down The Monon. They also have pints and half pints to take home!

This is a very tiny ice cream shop that can be easily missed if you aren't paying close attention. There are a few parking spots next to the shop and a walking trail. The door to the shop was locked and we ordered through the window. We arrived on a Friday night after dinner. Our girls had a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was very creamy. My husband and I shared the chocolate and brown butter cookie dough. I thought the flavors were pretty standard and nothing really to bring home about. I was disappointed that they didn't have the seasonal flavors that I saw on their website.

This gives you an idea of the step into the Monon Station location of LICK.

There are certain Indianapolis businesses for which the word "beloved" comes to mind. LICK is definitely one of those businesses. LICK SoBro is the latest location for LICK, an establishment most known for its spot inside The Garage Food Hall at Bottleworks. Co-owned by sisters Meredith Kong and Kelly Ryan, LICK makes ice cream using organic dairy, real cane sugar, no preservatives, and nothing artificial ever. This spot will likely be familiar to ice cream lovers. I for the life of me can't remember the very first ice cream joint that was here, however, they made way for Wyliepalooza. While I was sad when Wyliepalooza departed (truly nice people), I was ecstatic when I learned that LICK would snag this spot and I've been blown away that they even have winter hours. Lick SoBro is located in a small hut-type structure adjacent to the Monon Trail in SoBro. I will serve up a little caution that there's a step to go into it. I ordinarily knock a star off for accessibility issues, but I will note that there's a side window (the surface is slightly slanted but it's workable) and I will also note that LICK is acutely aware of the accessibility issue. I've now visited twice and both times they worked with me beautifully. Why? Because that's LICK. It's exactly what they do. I've never had a bad customer service experience with LICK and their flavors are inspired, creative, fun, and mighty tasty. The prices are fair for sure and with every fiber of my being I want to see LICK make this spot really work. This is actually a really fun corner because you have some fun shops, some dining options, and LICK. Then, there's the Monon Trail. You never completely know what to expect here, though some of their flavors seem to show up more regularly than others. They also get really creative at times with ice cream concoctions. I mean, that recent Yelp event was dynamite. There are certain Indy businesses that feel like they're truly part of the landscape of what it means to truly be Indy. LICK is one of those businesses and this new spot in SoBro lives up to everything we've come to expect from LICK. Bravo.

Lick SoBro is located just off the Monon Trail in a quaint blue building. We ate dinner nearby and grabbed some ice cream for dessert. They had the window open where you could walk up and order. Lick typically has some very unique flavors that you don't see anywhere else. They had just sold out of an interesting flavor while we were waiting in line. I was a bit disappointed in their flavor options, as they didn't have as many unique flavors as I've seen in the past. They do have vegan ice cream, and I ended up ordering the cookie butter flavor. Their ice cream is all hand maid so you will pay more than some other ice cream shops. They had one picnic table out front, so it is highly likely you can't sit down to eat your ice cream here.

Have a LICK! Small space but it works! There is even indoor seating available. Just 3 seats...I wouldn't expect that with such a small space but i was pleasantly surprised. Cute neon ice cream sign in the window adds to the decor! There were other people inside waiting to order and I didn't feel crowded. Looks like they may also offer a pick up window during the warmer months. With only one person working, she was super nice and fast! I tried the coffee chip and it's delicious! 10/10 recommend. Also tried the cookies and cream. That's my favorite ice cream but this was a 7.5/10 for me. I love that they make all their own ice cream and it's w/o all the bad stuff!

The tiniest ice cream shop I've been to! It may be small, but the ice cream is some of the best I've had. It's right next to Mama Carollas. It's a bright blue tiny home. The inside is cute and the one women team serving ice cream was so bubbly and nice. The rose water pistachio brittle was so light and flavorful. The rosewater is very subtle and somehow goes along perfectly with the pistachio brittle. The spiced chocolate marshmallow flavor was delicious and the cherry amaretto was also heavenly. They have standard ice cream flavors too, but if you're open to new flavor combos 100% try one of the crazy combos. Will be back to stock up my freezer with their pints!

    Affogato style
    Sara P.

Lick is my favorite local ice cream maker and affogatos are my favorite dessert. So, when I heard that not only would Lick be assuming the former Wyliepalooza "little blue house" off the Monon, but I could have espresso poured over their deliciously creamy, creative ice cream flavors...and it was all in walking distance...and open year-round...was it a dream? It was not. I walked to Lick SoBro on its opening day within its first hour of business, intent on getting my coveted affogato...and hopefully an additional free small ice cream, as one of the first 30 customers. Luckily, there was not much of a line, so I got to take in the little shop and its offerings. There were eight (8) ice cream scoop options to choose from, as well as a cooler full of take-home pints in other flavors. Although Lick is known for its high-quality, more creatively "adult' flavors, such as my favorite gorgonzola & spiced pecan and cedar & whiskey, no worries for parents of small children or otherwise more picky adults; flavors like cookies & cream, cookie dough, and s'mores were available (as well as pints of chocolate). You could also get your scoop made into a cookie sandwich, shake, or the aforementioned affogato (do it!). I tried a rosewater pistachio brittle scoop affogato-style and it was wonderful. The rosewater flavor and scent was present, but not too heavily floral. I loved sipping the melted ice cream espresso mixture at the end, with the candied pistachio pieces providing flavorful crunch. As one of the first 30 customers, I also got a small cup of pumpkin 5-spice oatmeal crisp to take home to my partner. Service was very friendly and one of Lick's founding sisters served up my affogato. I'm so happy Lick is open and wish them a lot of success at this location. I'll probably become a regular on my long Friday walks; a little sweet, espresso-drenched reward at the end of the week. It would be cool if Lick could collaborate with nearby SoBro businesses on exciting new flavors, once this location become more established (i.e. Dalgona pie flavor w. Pots & Pans, Bhota chai flavor from Prufrock, Healthy Elephant inspired from Hubbards, or, Nutty Wook vibes from Goldleaf...so many possibilities!). P.S. If gorgonzola & glazed pecan happens to be in stock in the future, please save me a scoop of your cheesiest, funkiest scoop.

Second time we stopped in. I love that Lick's is such a cute & quaint lil ice cream shop. Once again stopped into the cute lil shop next door. Lil overpriced, but... Ladies there are super nice, I luv the lil shop and would recommend Lick. It's nothing super new, but their flavors were new to me. I like supporting new businesses no matter how big or small they may be.

We don't get in the SoBro area very often, but when we do we make sure to grab a delicious scoop of ice cream!! Located on E. 54th st. In a wonderful little shop. The place is always clean, fast , and very friendly! If the weather is nice this place is most likely packed, but it's worth the wait! They selection is always rotating but a few of our favorites are the strawberries and cream, and the brown butter cookie dough.... MMMM MMMMMM! Check em out

I've jogged past this location a million times on the Monon, but never stopped in. What a treat! All the flavors of ice cream were well-prepared and just what we wanted. I got the coffee chip in a cone and couldn't have been happier. The munchies were a favorite flavor in my group, too. I think in the warmer months, walking down to Lick will become a regular event!

Is there seating inside the restaurant or is it just takeout?

There's a small counter to stand against, but this is a small takeout ice cream stand (not a restaurant).

I ordered the hot chocolate... just one sip and wow, I already knew. This jumped straight to the number one spot for me. Best hot chocolate I've had in the States, no question. The flavor was deep and full. You get those darker, slightly nutty notes right away, then it settles into this smooth, creamy finish that just stays with you. Every sip hits the same, and it just keeps pulling you back in. The whipped cream on top melts right into it and adds a little extra sweetness without taking away from the chocolate. The whole drink felt like an experience. I even asked how they make it and found out they use actual chocolate bars... makes sense. 100% worth it. And definitely be coming back for more.

The blueberries were the perfect pop of fruitiness. Who knew such a little thing could have so much flavor and put a huge smile on your face. The cherries were tart and sweet and so delectable.
