I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the coffee I took home seemed to be so over roasted, it was bitter and seemed to have an aftertaste of what I could imagine licking an ashtray would be like. I love dark roasts, but this was something I have never experienced. Almost $20 in the garbage. read more

This is a very small shop all the way in the back corner of a small plaza. As the name implies, they serve up coffee along with other food items such as breakfast burritos, croissant sandwiches, and calzones. Oddly enough, the way this place looks is different from the pictures of the past. It definitely has that small business type of feel with inventory out in the public area, no sign boards showing the menu, and various inventory on the tables. They do have a written menu at least. The prices are good and the taste of the food are unique. I got their huge breakfast burrito and a croissant BLT. My order was taking so long that the owner gave me a free coffee which was quite delicious. read more

I really wanted to love this place. Cute decor with the nautical theme. Sadly, not a very warm welcome when we walked in. The girl at the counter was on her phone and did not make eye contact or greet us. We ordered a tea and a coffee. She wasn't unpleasant, but she made no eye contact at all as she rang our order - no smile either, she was pretty much just to the point. We got our drinks and were the only customers. She went back to her phone as we sat there with our drinks. There were a bunch of boxes in the middle of the floor on the right, in the middle of the shop. It made the place look like it was not put together and a tad bit messy. I think this is a cute place with a lot of potential. Maybe we came on a day when they just had a delivery, hence all the boxes. Maybe we came on a day when the girl at the counter did not feel like interacting. I drive by this place a lot and decided to stop in. It is now my favorite place to buy iced coffee. What I noticed is the coffee is dispensed from a refrigerated juice dispenser machine, so the coffee is very cold and when poured over ice, it doesn't melt the ice. Therefore, you have a delicious coffee drink that is sweet, but the bold coffee flavor still comes through. The barista is friendly and is an expert at making delicious coffee drinks. read more

For some reason I thought this place closed down but I'm so glad it didn't and I got to try it for the first time today! This is a cute nautical coffee shop. I like some of the antique type stuff that they have in here! I got an iced coffee with oat milk and English toffee. They charge the same for every size coffee which is awesome! I got my husband a hot caramel latte. The barista was awesome. They make their coffee strong and didn't put too much oat milk in mine so I asked for a little more and he was able to help be out. great place! I was working across the street but was able to call ahead and pick up my order within 15 minutes. Staff was very friendly, clearly a family owned/run environment that is well cared for. I came for the bacon egg and cheese on a croissant which lived up to the hype from other yelp reviews and got a dirty chai too that was the perfect balance of sweet and spice. highly recommend! will be back read more

I really tried to like this place. I went in because the reviews were good, but man it was a dump. The owner was there as well and you could just tell by the way he talked that he was an asshole. I went in thinking I'd get food, but there was no food. I was even concerned about the quality of the beans and it looked like they were ground up in something that wasn't clean in years. The place was warn down, and the owner seemed like a piece of shit. He wouldn't give me time to think about my order. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

My husband and I came in wanting to try a local coffee shop and breakfast. They advertise breakfast sandwiches and when we asked about them the owner said they don't have them anymore. This was disappointing and we had to go somewhere else after to get breakfast. There was also no menu to order from either. I did get a coffee since we were already there and the business is veteran owned and we wanted to support. However, I wanted to leave the second we walked in. There were about 5 other people in there and the majority of them were cops, and they made us feel very uncomfortable and unwanted as if we were in their space. It felt more like a club than a coffee shop. The owner was kind, but the vibe of the coffee shop was not for us. read more

I love their coffee but jeez it takes like four trips to complete each order. Who has time for that? I've ordered over 6lbs roared and ground. It takes one trip to order and pay and between three and four to recover said product. I've heard, "family emergency I don't know where your order is, to closed for holiday on Good Friday sign says open again Monday. I just wanted the order of beans that were to be ground ground. I think this would be a great place to get coffee if it didn't require multiple trips in to get said coffee and get it right. Too bad I will miss it. read more

I enjoy trying different coffee shops so I decided to stop by. I walked in and it was odd , the set up was confusing. Lol the menu is a tv which wasn't working so I didn't have anything to browse . The guy making the drinks was just like "tell me what you like and I'll see if I can make it" .. I asked for a simple white chocolate mocha and he said he was out . So I just got a vanilla latte and it wasn't great. Kinda watery. Also , he called me beautiful and I didn't appreciate it. There was like 4 grown men sitting in there (one was cop) . Dropped in for coffee during the 9:00 am hour on a Tuesday. First noticed the (apparent) owner socializing with two customers. The owner was not drinking anything but had no mask on. Then the barista came out, with no mask or gloves, to take our order. She made them and handled them without mask or gloves, so we walked out looking at each other, wondering if we should try to sanitize the lids and cups. We decided to remove the lids, and we each took a sip at the same time, and the lattes were just awful. We spotted a trash can, tossed them, and found some hand sanitizer. read more

I spend a lot of time drinking and reviewing coffee, I saw this place and stopped by on a whim. I was not disappointed not only did we walk into an aesthetically pleasing lounge we were promptly greeted by a very nice barista. He took our orders and let us know about different items. We got our coffee quickly both were absolutely delicious. I got a iced almond milk latte and my husband got a caramel cappuccino! Five stars definitely would recommend! read more

Being a little unsure I decided to play it safe and order one of the specialty summer drinks, "Almond orgeat, orange blossom Matcha" (with oat milk). Oh my Goodness!!! Truly the best Matcha l've ever had! If you're not familiar with almond orgeat, it is a lovely French syrup made from almonds and sugar and if it's a proper orgeat made with orange blossom water. This drink was like summer on Nantucket! The matcha was properly whisked (as a true matcha should be). Combine the matcha with the flavors of the orange blossom and the almond orgeat made for the most absolutely delightful matcha I've ever had. Now, let's talk about this quaint little roasters coffee beans! Recently moving to Arizona, it's been a bit of a task trying to find a good roaster that I can support locally. I love a well roasted Papúa New Guinea and Ethiopia, but my absolute favorite is the Mexico, Oaxaca. Which is very difficult to find. A smooth, medium bodied coffee typically with notes of milk or dark chocolate and sweet citrus or bright fruits. Unbelievably, Beal Beans Roasting Co., roasts Mexico, Oaxaca beans! I enjoyed my first cup of freshly ground beans at home this morning and they did not disappoint. The coffee was smooth with wonderful milk chocolate and bright fruit notes. Finally! Beal Beans Roasting Co., is a wonderful quaint coffee shop & roaster that is worth supporting. Blake, (owner) is incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable, and a side note and wonderful plus; all containers, straws etc are completely compostable! Thank vou for caring about our environment~ And, Thank you for the best cup of coffee and Matcha I've had in Arizona!

The back area has small tables, large tables, desks with lamps, and a love seat. My only complaint is that this large area gets pretty hot in summer afternoons without adequate AC or fans back here. It was like this last year when I previously attended the evening coffee raves. Both times upon visiting recently in daytime, I ordered the Dark Horse latte, comprised of dark maple syrup, smoked sea salt, espresso, milk. I love this latte because it's sweet but also has depth from the smokiness and saltiness. While I think the coffee is on the pricier side, I'm incredibly satisfied with my drink choice regardless. Overall limited specialty drink menu (which is what I usually care about when exploring coffee shops) but many options in general. Seems like people mostly come here to be on their laptops opposed to socializing here, which I appreciate. This is an incredible spot to work, especially since they close later in the day at 6pm, offer free wifi, ample seating, ample charging.

Also I got the AZ frosè and the rosemary syrup was just way too pungent to enjoy the whole beverage. I wished it had been more balanced. Especially when the French fries are heavily seasoned with rosemary--a bit too much.

Everything looked really nice presentation-wise. Next time, I'd probably ask for the syrup on the side with the French toast and skip the bacon on the egg sandwich. I tried it, I reviewed it, and I'd probably come back again.

We gave him the leftovers and I told my husband I felt guilty for giving him such awful food; not sure what would be worse eating leftover pizza crusts out of the garbage can or that crappy food.

I wouldn't generally write a negative review of a local, family-owned business, but the political bias of the owners and the fact that one can see fetuses on the coffee that they sell--including the caption stipulating that abortion is "America's Holocaust"--is greatly off-putting, and likely very triggering for anyone who has had an abortion or anyone who doesn't want their coffee shops propagandizing them. Before going there I did not know that Lifeboat is "America's first exclusively pro-life coffee shop," (according to their website) and I wish I had because I don't particularly want to patronize an establishment that claims to donate a portion of their funds to pro-life groups that harass Planned Parenthood and that exist to encroach on a woman's fundamental right to decide what to do with her body. The coffee is fine. Not exceptional, but fresh and strong. The staff was also fine. If you agree with their politics I imagine you would like this place. It's just not for me. read more

Nothing here was anything to write home about. The business is located in Tony's Plaza- a strip mall on the corner of 7th street and Dunlap. Later discovered this place supports the ideals of the Christian right wing who believe the government owns women's reproductive organs. A portion of this places business profits support their misogynistic beliefs. I value businesses whose ownership aren't stakeholders in what goes on with my vagina. Not buying another cup of coffee so my money can fund men who want to tell me what I can or can't do with it. Will never return. read more

Products are mediocre at best. I'd compliment them on their atmosphere, at least (it's a nice spot), but they have a nasty habit of making you leave their establishment (and removing your reviews online) if you don't agree with their antiquated anti-choice political stance - such as openly supporting John Ryan, a man charged with domestic terrorism. I wouldn't recommend this establishment. read more

If they made their own cold foam this would have made the drink more unique. Could have been 5 stars if as described. Anyway, service was friendly and the small shop is cute. Gave me the hit of cold caffeine I was looking for.

They're a whole mission, starting with the coffee they serve - from an organization in Honduras that employs single moms to harvest the beans, and provides a safe home for children who are experiencing neglect and abuse. The young people with disabilities who are employed in this little coffee shop absolutely shine. They are a delight to have around. I especially loved meeting Josh today - he was so full of joy and really fun to talk to! They have a large, welcoming space with comfy seats, a play area for kids, and a small shop that celebrates and supports the disability community with really cute t-shirts. Generally speaking, places like this are often all heart and mission, often times at the expense of everything else, but Ri's somehow managed to do it all.
