This bakery is a gem on the island. I went there twice. Had the cinnamon roll on my first visit and it's probably big enough for two unless you're extremely hungry. On the second visit I tried the bacon wraps and pigs in the blanket. We're good also. I also purchased two croissants to make a sandwich with later in the day. Went here while on vacation(during Covid) and this is the only food establishment we went too. The staff was so nice as we had a larger order and I changed my coffee order after I had placed it(yes I know I was ashamed) and they were so kind! The ensured that we got our order correct and even took the time to talk to me while they were slammed with orders. Vacationing on Dauphin Island, we went for coffee and some pastries. Pastries were okay, not great. Very sweet and didn't taste like real butter was used. Our real disappointment was the coffee- pretty weak and bland. AND- they had ONLY nondairy creamer - no milk, no half and half, no cream! We've NEVER been to a bakery-coffee shop that serves only non dairy creamer. We asked and were given a bit of real milk, but gee whiz! We really enjoyed the big, homemade cinnamon bun with pecans here on Dauphin Island today! The staff were so sweet (yeah, that's a pun but true!) And the coffee was great on the chilly afternoon. We sat on the porch of this 1920s-era house turned bakery, then as we were about to leave, owner Daniel came out to chat and see how everything tasted. He let us know to come back on a Sunday for brunch with homemade omelets and homemade bread! We will be back!! read more

Cleanest place to eat on the island. Staff is super friendly and food is fairly priced for the area. Sandwiches are well made to order and fresh. A great little small town bakery on Dauphin Island. The staff was incredibly nice and offered what turned out to be great recommendations. The food is simple, but really hits the spot. I'm giving three stars because the rest of the staff deserve it. If it wasn't for them I would give a 1 star. The staff was very polite minus the one that helped us! The total wait time from the moment we got there until we left to take our food home for breakfast was about 45 min to an hour. We stumbled upon this quaint little bakery by chance. After having the absolutely best sandwich we just had to go back in for coffee and dessert. My kids had cookies and my husband and I shared the blueberry cheesecake goodness. It was quite possibly the best danish I've ever had. The service was outstanding. The young lady who took our order was very patient with us and made several yummy suggestions as we couldn't make up our minds what we wanted... it all looked so amazing! We've been coming to Dauphin Island for 4 years and Lighthouse Bakery is usually the apex of our eating experience on the island. From danishes to pigs in a blanket, they can't be beat but go early because they sell out quick. On Sunday mornings the parking lot is full and the line is backed out of the door because Sunday is their day for crab omelettes. They also serve sandwiches throughout the day for lunch. We stopped in on Saturday morning for a light breakfast. We both enjoyed the breakfast casserole. Comes in a large cupcake-sized portion. Tasty and cheesy. They heated it up for us. We also decided to split a delicious-looking cinnamon roll, which they also heated. We were NOT disappointed. This bakery is setup in an antique looking house with an interesting and random collection of chairs and tables with local artwork on the walls. Sunday is a very popular day and this is about the only bakery game on Dauphin Island so it attracts quite a line of folks. They have a special crab omelet that is only offered on Sundays but I found it rather light on the crab for the price and while the toast it was served with was nice I really would've liked some jelly and butter (if you decide to split an omelet with somebody they want to charge you additional money for the extra plate). They also have a selection of sandwiches to choose from and a small baked goods display. I tried the oatmeal cookie and it didn't do much for me so I wouldn't get one of those again. This is also about the only place I've ever been where they limit you to one refill on your iced teas but there was such a line I don't know how you would even accomplish getting the one refill. I wouldn't stop in here for Sunday morning prime time ever again but might do a sandwich (however the iced tea refill policy would seriously give me pause as I drink a lot of tea with my meals). The ordering process of standing in line could also be improved if they had handheld menus or added more large chalkboard menus folks could look at but as it currently works you can't really see the single chalkboard menu until you are right at the front of the line and this causes delays in ordering. Lots of people here just seem interested in getting to-go orders so they could also add table service for those that want to dine in and keep the counter ordering for the hordes of to-go customers. read more

I stopped by for breakfast around 10 am and there were plenty of choices left. I wanted to get a little sample of a few things in the case for my wife and I to share on a rainy morning. You definitely have to try the breakfast casserole. It's served muffin style and has egg, bacon, sausage (ham, too, I think) and cheese on top. This was the best thing we got and I could eat a few more! We also picked up a cinnamon roll and a bacon wrap, which is a slice of bacon wrapped around a sort of breadstick. These were both decent, although I agree with previous reviews that it would be better served warm, but I didn't ask them to warm it, so maybe they do. I picked up a large coffee, lighthouse blend, which was good. These, plus a large juice, were around $11 so all around good pricing. The staff were friendly and explained everything they had. The lady that helped me even carried the stuff to the car for me because it was raining and I had my baby. I would recommend this place and come back! read more
