We stopped by a few days ago. No wait staff. Just the owner. He did his best to cook and serve. Our hotcakes were okay and came out hot, and he seems to be a genuinely nice man. With some help and some business loans, the place could be spruced up and salvaged. Location is decent and convenient. But with several competiors nearby, it's going to be tough. read more

Not bad! Tasted like a breakfast from home. The guy working was friendly and made our meal quickly and it came out around the same time (4 people). For one person running the place this morning he did great. I got just fried eggs and hash, 2 of us got omelette star looked good and tasted good, and the other got biscuits and gravy which he said were really good. Great little gem, not fancy but the food was solid. This gentleman makes MAGIC pancakes. soft and eggy and light but crispy around the edges. I've never had anything like it. The rest of our breakfast was good too., good biscuits and gravy. Others have said it's pricey, maybe it is for WA state, but it was comparable with what we pay in California all the time. I yelped it on the way out the door! I am now committed to using yelp! They were out of potato salad and chili. Chili played a prominent role on their menu. The fish and chips had oil spilling out of it when I cut into it. There were 10 of us and they fed us in three shifts. Beware! Expensive cheap food! My mother and I stopped here because we were super hungry. Being called the Lighthouse Cafe, we were expecting there to be decent seafood. As we walked in, like others have said, it wasn't what we expected... I got the salmon burger, which was very mediocre for the price (and also fried... did not taste like salmon at all). Fries don't come included with the burger--you have to buy them separately at 1.00 or so. I think the burger itself was around $9. My mom got scallops and a salad. They served about 8 tiny fried scallops on a huge plate, and they weren't good at all. My mom didn't even finish the salad. We were the only customers in the restaurant at that time, and it was kind of awkward. It's a beautiful location, but the restaurant itself REALLY needs work... or to be replaced with something better. On the up side, the ladies who helped us were really kind. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! Today, my husband and two kids went to eat lunch while visiting Port Townsend. My son is 9 months old and he doesn't eat table food yet, but he eats cheerios or corn puffs. My daughter is 2 and she eats anything. The Asian lady definitely needs to improve her english, the food wasn't good, but they get 1 star from me because of their horrible customer service! So, my son made a mess with the cheerios, the cook came out and gave him a horrible look and shook his head in disapproval . My inner mama bear came out and I approached the Asian lady to let her know how rude the cook was and that we were gonna clean the floor before leaving if that was such a big deal to them. She said she never saw a baby make a mess while eating. HE IS 9 MONTHS OLD! am I supposed to just stay home and never go to restaurants? is not like this is a 5 stars restaurant anyways! We had to just grab our stuff and leave and we are definitely NOT coming back! read more

I have hesitated to eat at this establishment, due to the extremely greasy smell coming from the fryers. I did, however, decide to finally try the chicken chow main, sharing an order with a friend. The portion was not generous, but it was very tasty. The real burn came when we were presented with the bill. We were charged for the side, which in our case, was coleslaw. This entree was included in a section where a number of sides were offered. There was a tiny asterisk in front of the sides, and an even tinier asterisk, hand drawn, in front of the first two entrees in this grouping. Nowhere did it state that the sides didn't pertain to all entrees in the section. The puny saucer of coleslaw cost $3.95! A new menu design is needed, but for these penny wise, pound foolish owners, I will not give them a second chance. I notice a lot of these reviews mention being nickel and dime for every little thing, by the way. The cook was very unapologetic, and his wife was very upset with me for voicing my opinion about the unclear menu. Furthermore, the cook seemed put out that we were sharing an order. I give Yelp, myself and this restaurant a 1 star rating for this one. First, the 1 rating for Yelp is because I filtered for "open now" and we walked the length of the town only to find our destination restaurant was indeed closed. Frustrated and very hungry, my wife and I just decided to find the nearest open restaurant. This is where I give myself a 1 rating. We just picked a place without Yelping it because we were too tired to mess with it. But now picture this. If you walk into a restaurant at noon in a tourist town and the place is empty, wouldn't that be your first clue something was wrong with the place? Really dumb on my part. You want to know why it was empty? Here is where their 1 rating comes in. The food is horrible and priced very high for what it is. I honestly have to say I have had a frozen t.v. dinner better than the lunch we had. It was coldish, rubberish and just plain bland. The service wasn't any better. The waitress brought a menu and water, took our order and never returned. The cook brought out our meal. By the way, during our meal no other customer's came in. So bad. So gross. We went on a Sat morning with the kids just looking for a good, basic breakfast place. Instantly, you are hit with the smell of old cooking oil. It's dirty, overpriced & disgusting. Bacon? McDonald's has better quality bacon. Why are there shirts hanging up & why are there socks for sale for $8 above cash reg? Why is there a shelf of jewelry that says "Don't touch, they are not yours." Anyway $55 for breakfast for two adults & two kids. read more

We were wandering Port Townsend and hungary for lunch when we arrived at the Lighthouse Cafe. The menu outside looked decent, we were in the mood for a burger or fish n chips. They had both available and the price seemed right. Upon sitting down we noticed an increase in prices from the menu posted outside on the fish n chips and fries didn't come with the burgers, it was 2 dollars more for them. We stayed to eat since we had already ordered drinks, in retrospect, we should have just left. All in all our stomachs were full, but we will not go there again. read more

The Cafe is very little, only about 5 booths and 1 table. It is clean and right next to the water in a renovated building. One man was running the whole thing. He was soft-spoken and very nice. A man of few words. Not a huge menu but still plenty to choose from. And the food. Oh my gosh, was it ever good. My husband said it was the best Denver omelet that he has ever had and that is saying a lot. The potatoes were perfect, too. My request was for the breakfast sandwich without any bread and he delivered just that. The place was quiet except for hearing the water and seagulls. We will definitely be back the next time we are in PT for a meal. read more

Horrible...dont waste your time or money!The place was nasty with dirty dishes everywhere, floor looked like there was a food fight days earlier and no one wanted to clean it up.It took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee another 15 to take our order and after 15 minutes we had to chase down the waitress and request more coffee.I FINALLY got my plate of food that was cold and it seemed like forever, my wife finally got her order which was completely wrong.The whole time we looked at dirty dishes and a nasty floor and did what we could to get the hell out of there.I would highly discourage anyone from eating/drinking/or breathing the air in that rancid place.Port Townsend has alot to offer......its just too bad that place is a hell hole in a beautiful town. read more

We pass this cafe every time we are in Pt. Townsend, but it was never open. It was this time so we decided to try it. We were slightly taken aback when we entered & saw the oriental decorations on the wall. we were in the mood for seafood, but we decided to look at the menu anyway. Were surprised that it wasn't Chinese food so we ordered the soup (clam chowder) & salad for a light lunch. Waited longer than we should have for a simple lunch. The salad was fresh but very basic. Lettuce, thinly sliced tomato & julienne cut cucumber thinly spread out on a salad plate. The clam chowder was TERRIBLE. Didn't have any clam flavor & hardly any clams and it was thickened with tapioca pearls. It was a very thick soup with no taste. No amount of salt & pepper could remedy the bland soup . The interior is really shabby with uneven floors going to the bathrooms (women's bathroom looked like it was forced into a cleaning closet) The carpet was thread bare with a lot of tripping hazards , and the baseboards were covered in thick goo. When we left, we looked in the window at the kitchen and it was filthy, window & kitchen. Would not recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I think the health inspectors ought to take a closer look. read more

We came in on a busy Saturday morning. We were directed to a table (the only clean one) and were promptly served drinks. Didn't take long to realize that the poor cook was the only one there! He was doing the work of a server, busser, and host, all while cooking the food for a full restaurant!! The server arrived none too soon to help, and although the wait was a little long, the food was amazing!! Quality ingredients, perfectly prepared. The best Chinese noodle soup I've ever had. Nearly always my favorite place for lunch in Port Townsend which has lots of good restaurants. Also very good Italian scramble for breakfast. Does NOT deserve stars if I could would be minus stars, Service was ok food was way over cooked cheese on burger was transparent , horrible no flavor should say 1/4 lb of leather. Prices are HIGH family of 5 over $60. for a simple lunch ? Think they build in the tip with their prices because if anyone saw what the food looked like before ordering they would walk out. If we could have walked out after seeing the food we would have. So not worth eating here.
